Somebody wrote to me and said they love the PirateMyFilm idea but were surprised I was not doing something that addressed environmental issues instead of the issue of the government’s copyright abuse. In fact, my biggest progressive issue has always been reform of copyright law. Without access to the ideas, art and culture currently locked up on corporate balance sheets thanks to the draconian DMCA laws put in place by President Clinton, progress is restricted.
Before we can figure out how to solve the environmental degradation issues we need to be free to innovate. We need to be reconnected to our own intellectual heritage and be able to freely make use of our collective genius as humans without penalty from insidious copyright kleptocrats. We need to empower and enrich individuals ahead of the narrow minded oligarchy of the current copyright cartel choking both our creative community and our ability to innovate.
To me, this is the most important progressive issue of our time.

supporting one cause over another cause does not cancel out supporting anything ,it simply leaves us all free to do what ever we can to make things better, i.e. if i choose to support animal welfare organisations or causes it does not mean i do not care about people ,it just leaves someone else free to care about something else or to do something instead of just criticising. it doesn’t matter what cause you choose to support as long as we are trying to do something to make things a bit better.
Hi Ya’ll
Great post Max. If any of you have a problem understanding the real brilliance of this point of view may I suggest tracking down a good movie ‘ Good Copy Bad Copy’ it deals with some of the common misconceptions and problems surrounding copyright law and p2p.
Oh yeah love the picture with the post. I’d wear that tshirt.
OK bye
I fully respect the battle you choose.
I guess part of your plan could be automatic prefixing video adds to the peer to peer downloaded movies. That would perhaps be more effective than banner adds, and would be relatively easy to implement.
Another approach would be to try to find a way to overwelm the system. Perhaps by developing a patent that needs no further processing (cost) to be accepted, but can be submitted in an infinite number of varieties. Companies can tell the license holder that they will either invest a reasonable amount to license their patent, or put some money in difficult to fight ‘counterpatents’. All to break industry protection though blocking the use of patented inventions.
You and Stacey mentioned the derivatives bubble and I think I found an answer to it, which could actually be implemented..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkF3vrmtCoQ apologies for crappy vid and langauge mistakes..
If you would like to prevent copyright and patents to stifle the one good option in the environmental battle, I would be very easy to sponsor in driving this solution:
http://www.climatebabes.com/index.php?/archives/67-The-solution-to-climate-change.html
I’m also working on a concept called the ‘milligram bank’, a distributed, public owned, precious metals based banking system..
Rock on!
Stacey and Max,
I am a new fan of MaxKeiser.com. On your radio show you mention buying gold and silver. I am assuming physical metals. If so, to whom will I sell my gold to? Coin shops? If I had 100 oz of gold to sell, will a coin shop cut a check for me for
$100,000?
How do the elite who are hoarding gold sell their gold in exchange for some currency in order to purchase something? I am just wondering about the practical aspects of owning gold. I am aware about James Turks website goldmoney.com but I want that service closer to home ( as in my country and state in U.S.)
Curious minds want to know…
ha ha anti counterfaith bill gold yes should off started buying in early 2000s when the price was depressed unless you finking inflation or gold as a medium of exchange?
Lovely max keiser!
So after making a fortune from his patents on Wall Street Max now advocates stealing from everyone else?
Nice,
Stay classy Max.
why are you still into “global warming”?
as a banker/banksters expert(con jobs)
they change it to “climate change”
see “The Great Global Warming Swindle”
can you explain it on your podcast?
Maybe they’re ‘into’ global warming because they have a working understanding of science and the scientific process. That process doesn’t include buying into every crackpot conspiracy theory you run into.
Makes sense Max.
Curious when someone would say ‘Why can’t we try to live without money?’.
Critics may then want to say to that person ‘Oh that’s great, first you make money, and then, if you have some, you tell to abolish monetarism’ .
Tautologies would be very popular …
Keep up the excellent work
K
Max, I love your idea of working with the pirates and down with eliminating the tentacles of corporate greed, but I’m a little shaky on throwing out the baby with the bathwater; Or throwing out the Copyrights with the Copyright office.
Unless I’ve been misinformed, Copyrights have NEVER protected ideas. When I called the copyright and asked what they protect I was told the copyrights protect “The expression of an idea” not an idea itself.
Only God can take credit for where Ideas come from.
Nevertheless Max, can you please address how can people can retain their creative authenticity over their projects in a world where everything is shared?

There is no “figuring out” the environmental issues.
Tell the hundreds of millions of people that are starving to death that copyright is more important than evironmental protection, and preservation.
Im not saying you should focus more on the environment, you experise is obviously economics. I just think its horrible to say that copyright is the most important issue is short sighted imo, copyright is just another way to restrict our freedom, IMO the most important issue in the WORLD is our personal freedoms. Copyright is just one of a number of methods they try to use to oppress and control.
Media or food and air?
Copyright laws are draconian indeed and are based on greed. Way to go!
London (AP) Skull Artist Upset at new Pirate Website
Artist Damian Hirst announced that he would be suing Max Keiser and Max Keiser.com for copyright infringement. Hirst, who became famous after making millions of pounds off his college roomate’s idea of diamond-plating a skull, later sued a teenager for 100 pounds claiming the young artist was appropriating Hirst’s skull idea.
In the present case, announced today, Hirst claims that he first had the idea of distributing films for free, and that Max Keiser’s new enterprise: PirateMyFilm.com infringes on his copyright.
….
You’re on the right track IMO Max; copyright is a much higher priority than “global warming.” Copyright is one of the few contentions mentioned in the U.S. Constitution (Art. I Sec. 8 Cl. 8); but with an emphasis on real humans, not artificial corporations.
Creativity is a necessary element in any problem solving scenario. It provides the answers for all questions.
Copyright law may seem unimportant, until you show them to the kind folks at Monsanto, who is cataloging, and copyrighting every seed they can get their hands on.
And this is but one example. So Max is spot on with this assault DMCA etc.
I think this copyright issue like many other issues of the day are merely struggles to put humpty dumpty back together. Tech has fundamentally changed the World.
Peter Joseph and this Zeitgeist movie is likely where we are heading. Many are going to fight this transition (NWO) because many still want to hold on to the “mine and yours” paradigm. Smart people are already moving in the direction of the ideas presented in Zeitgeist.

Monsanto doesn’t use copyright to protect its seeds, they use patents to do that.
I’m all for patent reform but I think that copyright laws have it right (more or less).
