• “The trade secretary, Lord Mandelson, will today stress that the creation of a fully digital Britain is “critical” to the UK’s future economic success.”

Wow!

“Mandelson will make clear the case for government intervention in the so-called creative industries, although he is expected to stop short of promising any actual government funding.”

oh so its just empty political rhetoric. At time like these I think of the advice Stanley Kubrick’s dad gave him on a possible movie deal. All they needed to do was get a big name actor on the picture and the studio would distribute the movie.

Papa Kubrick said “That like saying me saying to you go look for some money on the street, I’ll give you half of everything you find”.

• Dear Max and stacy You should propouse your idea of Karmabanque to the Communist party of China .I have a strong belief if there is one government that will implement and support it .Then it has to be the CPC.
Also I never approved the egregious law of taxing 90% of bonus on all companies that got bailed out but still I hated the way Obama secretly veteod the bill without any media hype .While he goes on TV and gives his usual lecture about how shameful it is for the bankers to collect those bonuses but secretly licks their boots in cohesion with the mainstream media .He is far worse than Bush . In his case we atleast knew what he was planing to do and whom he was supporting but this guy is a total sham

• 2 words for Glenn Beck- controlled opposition

I presume you’ll all seen the economist fainting on Glenn Becks show- guess the theft a nation got too much for him.

• 100% mortgages? Not a problem!

• Pirate Bay founders found guilty. It just underscores the fact that the mainstream media bloodsucker corporations must be supplanted by legitimate, populist media.

• The worst thing about Rattner–guilty or not–is that the Obama team became aware of his investigation while they were vetting Rattner for the position of union-busting czar. What a mess.

In the Bloomberg article that Manoj linked to, Stiglitz points to one of the underlying problems that we peasants need to challenge: the revolving door that allows crooks and liars to cycle through each and every important agency and insitution.

• Course they all want Digital, that way they can better monitor and control the peasants. Data flowing thru didgtal gates is like a counter, with address easily seen. This is all about consolidating power. The call to get rural people connected is the same…can’t have any people not monitored.

• How come no mention of this in your headlines the last several days??? If this is not earth-shattering with regard to 9/11, I don’t know what is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_tf25lx_3o

• Found this via Baseline Scenario:

Top Geithner Aide Fought CEO Compensation Reform:
http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2009/03/geithner-aide-fought-ceo-pay-reform

The preface:

“As a Goldman Sachs lobbyist, Mark Patterson once worked against a bill to curb executive compensation. The legislation’s sponsor: Barack Obama.”
Interesting . . . the things we find out as time goes on about the proverbial hens guarding the henhouse.

• THE TAX RALLIES were because people are angry about bailouts (which will cause us to all pay the “inflation” tax) and the lack of representation in our govt. Many tried deperately, for instance, to have the initial bailout stopped, and our “reresentatives” steamrolled over our wishes. Furthermore, a lot of intelligent peoople were at the rallies. A lot of liberal mainstream media decided to buy in to the left-right sham and react childishly. They are not representing us, either.

The Federal Reserve has been buying mortgage-backed securities, driving mortgage rates to historic lows. But the U.S. Treasury has been doing the same thing, and nobody’s seemed to notice.

• Google..”ae911truth” and watch the Blueprint for Truth videos (13 parts).

Why is nobody talking about it? many are but we have to remember the USA has been taken over already.

99.9% of the people can be against the Bailouts and it doesn’t matter. Vast majorities were against the Iraq war…didn’t matter. Vast majority are against the NWO and the move to Globalism…doesn’t matter. Most are against illegal immigration and the borders are still wide open.

The Takeover is complete. Anyone thinking otherwise is lost in the window dressing.

9-11 was an inside job 100% no question. Doesn’t matter though.

• @Mep – yes, that’s the strange thing I find about every one of these cases of an Obama appointee having some massive legal problem; the fact that everything proceeded nevertheless I think probably indicates just how pervasive and accepted corruption is at that level.

• Dear Max and Stacy, I was wondering if you could discuss Basel II Accord and what the significance of Basel I and II in terms of the world financial restructuring on a very upper level, especially after the most recent G-20 meeting, and how it would impact the lives of those who live in the U.S. if the Basel II is fully implemented here. Is this a total lost of sovereignty? Is this another giant step toward a scientific dictatorship or scientific communism as it has been claimed by some? I was listening to Alex Jones and this lady by the name of Rollye James briefly touched upon this topic recently. I’d like to hear it from you guys. I love you both. You are just like a breath of fresh air for me every week . Serap.

• i have something to share – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yREOUxo6Qdc

i imagine you will appreciate the aesthetics of the 2 min. video and its content–it is well made. regrettably, you will probably reject its author, which leads me into my comment:

i have read a few articles critical of the tea parties. and most of the arguments are premised on “the stupidity of revolting against an increase on the top 5% of personal income taxes.”

i know Max has a “liberal” bent (not sure about Stacy) but I would think that you guys have imagination (and a lot of it). most people are not protesting some tax on the upper 5% but the general idea of taxes and what it supports. you understand power and corruption when it comes to markets and big business but oddly…you have no sense of how that manifests in bureaucrats??

mostly enjoy your work and value your ideas but wtf!

• Matt Taibbi clearly doesnt get it at all. He must be having a bad day because he didnt use any real profanity until about paragraph 4 or so. He did better a week or two ago when the described the economic situation in language that even an Obot could decipher.

• Max, Stacy,

I’d love to hear your comments on the following interview;

Paul Keating, the former prime minister of Australia talking about the economic crisis.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaiHknko6dM

• Yea Glenn Beck is a Johnnie-Come-Lately at best, but what the hell is this “peasant” revolt shit?

Pardon my colored radar but that souds like its intended to be condesending.

I would think it would go without saying that ALL revolts are peasant revolts.

The need to “qualify” the kind of revolt reveals THE REAL PROBLEM.

• Im with Smallz.
Sure glen beck works at fox news, and is undoubtedly dangled by the strings of his masters, he still brings up the thought provoking topics that even if slanted in context, is better then nothing.

I would rather watch fox and hear about the “bubba effect” then watch cnn and hear about the obama’s new puppy. Am i right?

• Stacy,

Yes, it’s like being a crook is a prerequisite for any high-level post. Nobody wants a person of integrity around to actually root out corruption. And here we were told that the vetting process is so intensive to keep the riff-raff out. As if.

• rb,

Glenn Beck and “thought provoking” don’t belong in the same sentence. He is a complete idiot–perfect for Faux News: the worst propaganda network out there.

• If Obama is fascism with a smile
Limbaugh, ORLY and Beck would be fascism without a smile.
Opportunists cashing in and taking over events and Ive never heard them suppport ‘sound money’ and putting an end to the unbacked gambling shananigans of Wall St. They are of the same ilk as the banksters.

• Warp Records are 20 years old. wow.

• Glenn Beck looks a lot like Max Keiser these days. Maybe someday Stacy will see the resemblance too…

• What Nancy S says. The fact that the GOP/’conservative’ talk radio/TV have tried to hijack the ‘teabaggers’ (snicker, if you must), does not mean that these people are all dupes — any more than the fact that the DNC largely hijacked the anti-war movement (through MoveOn, TrueMajority, etc.) and used the real sentiment of serious people to install … a president who’s escalating the war in ‘Af-Pak’.
The talking heads on MSNBC have gone into FOX slime territory: Tax protesters are racist retards, you know, because the president’s black.

For what it’s worth, MSNBC’s parent company’s banking division — GE Financial — got $140 billion in bailout money.
