Meltdowns, pandemics and talking books

June 11th, 2009 by stacyherbert

Stacy Summary:  Anyone out there able to find ANY real factual headlines that support a green shoots theory?  Everything is pretty bleak from where I sit!

Updates:

The move to phase 6 reflects the fact that the disease, widely known as swine flu, was spreading geographically, but not necessarily indicate how virulent it is.

“Phase 6, if we call a phase 6, doesn’t mean anything concerning severity, it is concerning geographic spread … Pandemic means global, but it doesn’t have any connotation of severity or mildness,” WHO spokesman Gregory Hartl said.

“In fact, what we are seeing with this virus so far is overwhelmingly to date mild disease. So we would think that this event is really a moderate event for the time being, because the numbers are high but the disease is overwhelmingly mild,” he told Reuters Television before the committee meeting.

  • RE: GREEN SHOTS

This article is from June 1st, I had it saved on my laptop. It talks about green shoots– not of today but from the press in 1933. The more things change, they stay the same.

  • Green shoots between the pavement they must mean..

Gonna find me a desperate Cali, buy his frikkin’ yacht off of him for an ounce-o-gold, sail it to Palau and live of the sea growin’ seaweed and prawns..

Does anybody know why gold ismoving down?

  • @Stacy: well sure…as you recall in Ronnie Reagan’s day we all lived in America in a house with a white picket fence on the hill with the sun coming up on our front door; and in the spring we planted all those “green shoots” in the garden –the carrots, radishes, cucumbers, lettuce and the like and all was well…this is the mindset that eminates from Uncle Ben’s Princeton educated mind… After all he’s an expert on the Great Depression Era of the 1930′s…too bad he hasn’t a clue that the rules have changed ( or maybe he does!) and he might have done better to have studied the Weimar Republic of 1923…and the Argentine currency collapse of the 1980′s or the Zimbabwe fiasco just this year…as always, Richard@lattitude30N

  • 1,307 confirmed cases in Australia – 0 casulaties.
2,978 confirmed cases in Canada – 4 casualties.
1,694 confirmed cases in Chile – 2 casualties.

This particular variation of the swine flu doesn’t seem to be dangerous compared to regular flu.

  • I think ‘pandemic’ is one of these medical terms that got overused by feature films so that people assume there will naturally be people dead all over the street if one is declared http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pandemic#Definition

It is too early to declare the swine flu as an over hyped event. The 1918 flu had a similar pattern of a relatively minor flu outbreak that also killed mostly 30 – 40 year old victims. The initial outbreak in spring of 1918 caused little concern. It was the second leg of it that started in August and then became the deadly pandemic we know from history.

Regardless of what it becomes, I really wish people had more manners and stopped sneezing without covering their saliva spray. I notice this constantly on the metro and in the cafe even without a state of ‘pandemic.’

  • @Skandinavia and Stacey, Still we’re talking 6 million+ casualties if everyone on earth gets it, and as with any flu, everyone does. Agreed, the second leg might be much more severe it it occurs..

Never read anything about viruses becoming less or more deadly per se, but if it incubates and transmits fast, it obviously doesn’t needs longevity in its host..

  • A member of the aristocracy said, if there was life after death,..he’d come back as a virus,….(to curb the apparent over population thing)
guess he’s crossing his fingers ,..huh!
Do you reckon he’s got shares in Novavax?

  • @Mike .. “gold @ $880 ”

    ….. that was CHEAP !

    If it’s any consolation….

1 Kg. Gold in 1986 cost ca. 40,000 Euros .

    In 1982 I bought a 1-year-old Porsche 911 SC for 39,000 DMs !
    Yep … ca. 19,500 Euros !

Today , you’d have to pay ca. 90,000 for the same.

    BTW….
If you check the “second-hand-car” Ads, you fnd that you have to pay ca. 19,000 Euros for a 1982 Porsche 911 SC in good condition.

Makes you think doesn’t it ?

  • @ … AUDITTING THE FED

Has anyone thought about the aftermath of such an action ?
I am 100% for it of course , but can you imagine “exactly what secrets” the FED is keeping to itself ?

Now just imagine the secret gets out !
My guess is that’s when the US$ finally fally over the cliff !

Maybe even the “auditors” may decide to just keep the music playing ?

    Thoughts ?

  • Maybe we should sell California to France and let them manage it?

And now in UK police state news:

  • Green shoots? Look at the feedback on this BBC survey today http://tinyurl.com/nawzye – the mainstream media is completely out of touch.

  • As per my 08 Jun post:

Yes, the global elites (a consortium of Amero-Anglo-Dutch privileged Bastardes) are doing their best to restrict public gatherings and cross-border movements of the common folk. The venal press is complicit with the money powers and try their best to scare people into staying put and following orders. This is being accomplished by fearmongering, disinformation, and misdirection of one’s attention into frivolous irrelevancies.

A good case in point is the recent Swine, or H1N1 flu “pandemic.” Travel restrictions, quarantines, and mass hysteria have resulted from public fear of contracting this fatal malady. Ice-cold fear has been promulgated by talking heads on the telly, print screed, and Internet bloggers.

However, just a few, widely available numbers suggest that we are very far from pandemic conditions, as of this time. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (http://www.cdc.gov/flu/keyfacts.htm) states that, on the average, 36.000 persons die from influenza each year in the US. Although there is a concentrated flu season, just deriving a monthly average of flu deaths would calculate to an expectation of 3.000 deaths per month. As of 5 Jun 09, 27 people have perished from H1N1 in the US, to date. While good statistical analysis requires more number crunching than this, common sense indicates that 27 fatalities versus a much larger monthly expectation doth not a pandemic make. To qualify as a pandemic it would probably require, say, 3.000 x 1,5 = 4.500 deaths in a single month, in the US alone.

As of the same date, the World Health Organisation reports that 103 persons have died from H1N1 in Mexico. While I can’t handily find the expected mortality, we can perform some extrapolation. 36 thousand / 305 million folks in the US = 0,0001. And 0,0001 x the population of Mexico, 110.000.000 folks = 11.000 expected flu deaths per annum. I would adjust the 11 thousand upwards by, say, 20% to allow for less optimal health conditions in Mexico, therefore raising expected flu deaths to 13.200, or 1.100 expected flu deaths per month. And, a pandemic would likely see mortality expectations rise to 1.100 x 1,5 = 1.650 persons per month. So far, reported deaths in Mexico, to date, are only 6.2% of mean monthly expectations.

What is going on here? This trumpeted, pandemic travesty is little more than the Chicken Little fable writ large. The major media should be ashamed of themselves for pandering their rotten, ill informed garbage as “news,” However, as Lenin knew very well, lie often and consistently, and the common folk, basking in a sensation of certainty radiating from one who knows, will happily stand in queue for their turn in the abbatoir.

And now, a bleak, depressing, heavy metal song written in passive/active voice to emphasize helplessness under despotism, but hope springing eternal from Cupid’s pulsing breast:

    THE END OF THE WORLD
    By Count Frankestein von Drachola

    The storm was raging,
    Fiery missiles were hurled.
    Dark forces gathered,
    Battle flags were unfurled.
    Pale zombies clawed
    Into the putrid night air.
    They almost caught you
‘Cause you took time to stare.
    Sharp icy fingers grazed
    Your long flowing hair.
    I think I’ll love you
Till the end of the world!

    The seeds of hate
    Were planted row after row.
    Fools think they’ll profit
But they’ll reap what they sow.
    You overstayed your hand
    For such a small share.
    Who ever told you
That this game was played fair?
    You tried to exit,
    But you hadn’t the fare.
    I’m gonna love you
Till the end of the show!

And when you touch me in the night,
I know that things will be alright.
Hell’s rabid fiends are on our trail:
We’re hopeless creatures of the night!

    Black phantoms menaced
    Overhead as they whirled.
    We tried to hang on
But the ground broke and swirled.
    We fell from grace
Into the Beast’s moldy lair –
    There’s no salvation
    When you’re running on air.
    Mind-shackles chain us
    To bleak walls of despair.
    Girl, I will love you
Till the end of the world!

  • Re: BNP win. I grew up in Yorkshire and went to a very mixed race school. Everyone got on well. I met up with many of my Muslim classmates last year and they have gone on to be successful, professional business people across Britain and the world and many have inter racial partnerships. However, 20 years later the same place is spawning suicide bombers and BNP MEPs. Something went seriously wrong with British society in the meantime – neo conservatism? Competition for jobs and houses? An increasing police state? Whatever it is, we need to address it quick.

  • I can tell you right now, I ain’t taking no vaccine!

  • The real unemployment in the US is 16.7% when you count discouraged workers and the underemployed these are the governments own numbers. I think the US, UK and Japan are looking at a decade of stagflation. In the 1970′s the US economy only grew 4% the whole decade without inflation. I think the inflation this decade will be worse than the 1970′s. The story will be Asia how will they hold up especially China.

  • @natbeth,…Re: media out of touch.

Out of touch from whom ?

  • Well, isn’t Aids a pandemic in that respect?

  • Out of touch from reality. They are so busy tryuing to find green shoots they are missing the bigger picture – that of global trade meltdown. I work in news and everyday their are thousands of stories so you need to pick an angle. A lot of those making the decisions have houses so are trying to talk up the economy hoping it will help to all get back to normal. It’s a bit like Doris Day’s marriage – complete b*llocks

  • Swine Flu: Must read articles.

F William Engdahl: The WHO Plays with Pandemic Fire: http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=13856

Stephen Lindman: Readying Americans for Dangerous, Mandatory Vaccinations:
    http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=13925

(For “Americans,” read “Everyone”… Most governments have similar plans. )

I disagree with how the WHO has handled the so called swine flu crisis so I’m voting them out at the next election… Oh, hang on, I can’t. There’s no recourse for us plebs in the era of Globalisation (or as I call it Feudalisation.) I find the power the WHO now has far scarier than this flying pig flu. I can be rounded up and pumped full of all sorts of lovely experimental vaccines; again with no recourse. That’s freedom – 21st Century style!

  • Stop whingeing and grow up Mike. Start thinking for yourself.

  • @ Dedo……………..A member of the aristocracy said, if there was life after death,..he’d come back as a virus,….(to curb the apparent over population thing)
It was dear Prince Philip, you know, the one married to the bitch living at Buckingham Palace (the queen).
BTW, anyone want to take bets on there being a mandatory vaccination programme? Before you lay your bets bear in mind the following:-
Many millions extra body bags recently ordered for the UK.
90 million vaccines ordered for the UK.
When NHS staff were told last year (ie. before swine flu outbreak) that there would be a massive flu outbreak this autumn with many dead, the question was posed by same staff: ‘How can you predict an outbreak next autumn?’ The answer: ‘We just know’.
I, for one, will not be accepting any vaccine and if it’s mandatory I’ll be running for the hills.
Anybody been checking out the chemtrails? If they are spraying us with chemicals (including Barium) just think what they’ll put in a vaccine. And then do some research as to what they have previously put into vaccines – bloody frightening!

  • Stacy,

It sure would be interesting to see/hear a show where Peter Schiff, Karl Denninger, and Max has a chance to debate inflation vs. deflation…

    Love listening to you guys!

    Lee

  • @ Sharon

Do you have any links to stories about the NHS warning last year?

(I completely agree – I wouldn’t take any vaccine. I also find this rather swine flu outbreak suspicious; especially with Baxter releasing the contaminated vaccine in March)
