  1. Just can’t argue with Max Keiser’s statements, and appreciate the continued brilliance of the riffing, but he called the host’s theories “quaint,” and without knowing what precisely what was “quaint” besides the host’s unctuous delivery, you just don’t get that kind of honesty much in interpersonal communication.
    What struck the “quaint” nerve?

I’ve just finished my dinner which haven’t quite digested….same for the stuff I’ve read, am not so sure if I agree wholeheartedly with anyone …but great stuff great writing…cheers…food for thought.

  9. Max,

its PENURY (as you write it in your Huff. Post blog)
not PUNERY. (as you often pronounce it!)

penury just means extreme poverty, not necessarily debt slavery.

There are the dignified poor and the criminal poor. Don’t confuse the two.
I didn’t. It’s the cops that only see black and white:
“Oakland is a city in big trouble. The battle lines drawn long ago have been hardened after each “controversial” police use of force. I suspect Oakland is little different from other cities across this nation. The pendulum of who to support has been swinging wildly between the extremes of good and evil.”
    http://www.policemag.com/Blog/SWAT/Story/2009/03/The-Aftermath-of-the-Oakland-Massacre.aspx

Battle lines? The police consider themselves at war with the public. In East Oakland ‘the hood’ is the target:
    http://articles.latimes.com/2001/dec/03/local/me-11013

If the poor are rambunctious and unlawful it is a result of a lifetime of brutality and lack of access to capital and the accoutrements we whites take for granted. The latest riots in Oakland were a result of the Bart shooting: a transit cop shot a black man point-blank in the back. The cop did not work for the police dept. but for Bart, yet he was protected within the dept. as “one of Oakland’s finest”. The riots, though unfortunate, were a result of no justice for the poor black man that lost his life trying to comply with the officer. Would there have been any justice any other way?

The war on drugs gave SWAT teams permission to raid innocent civilians’ homes without a warrant. Reason: the poor have no voice. The businesses are not protected in poor neighborhoods. Reason: the poor have no money. The system in America has disfavored blacks from the inception of the system.

“IF local government is functioning properly, locally elected officials oversee the local law enforcement”

Yes, for white people and well-off Americans: the ones who have served the system benefit from the system. Now that the whites and middle-class are suffering some of the same indignities as the poor and colored there is a dissenting “voice”. When will the majority of comfortable whites notice their own hypocrisy?

  11. Dedo– No. I understand the point. IF local government is functioning properly, locally elected officials oversee the local law enforcement. The “market” votes by voting, in these cases. The vote is open to all and is not predicated on the “ability to pay”.

frances- Not sure what is being asked about East Oakland. My brother lives in Oakland, I used to work on the fringes of Oakland. The cops in Oakland have a tough job.

Sometimes, “the poor” (of any color) are rambunctious and unlawful. This breeds a kind of warfare mentality between themselves and the police who are tasked with keeping the lid on their unlawfulness…

Personal responsibility would go a long way to cleaning up these areas but it is easier to blame an agency than to blame individuals who have collected in their own cesspools…

Wanting to make a difference, I took on a roomate in college who left east Oakland to “make a better life”. After he stole all of my bicycles and any money I left lying around, he went off and got arrested in our quiet little suburb for stealing a car…

There are the dignified poor and the criminal poor. Don’t confuse the two.

    http://socioecohistory.wordpress.com/2009/07/18/u-s-dollar-at-risk-of-unraveling/

The link’s premise is that the dollar will begin to collapse in August, reaching .72. The further demise is predicted for October. .72 is an important level…

If the dollar stays under .80 the lower levels are attainable in October (.62 and below)…defacto devaluation…

Looks like Europeans are free from American tourists for a few months if not permanently.

  14. Individuals rarely go insane: groups rarely don’t. Amour Sui or Amour Dei?? Life, the Mystery is a bottom-up: NOT a top-down. The Created can’t not abide not being the Creator. The Natural rebelling & assaulting the Supra-Natural…Non-Servium. We will never forgive the Divine Reality for existing independently of US. We speak in Whats….He speaks in Why….as Reality is Purpose; not facts. The grotesque Naturalism degenerated from Epicure to the Stoics to the Norman Hedonists. Someone tell Hobbes, Locke & Bentham…..that Personality precedes Property; that Being precedes Personality & that Spirit precedes Being. Our problems are metaphysical. We are spirited; NOT spiritualized….we can NOT order Kosmic Purpose…only organize homeless chaotic facts. The Cat chases the dogs tail.

    @Dedo:
In America the future sees paid-for-police protection provided to monied interests. I agree with you: when did the police protect poor blacks in East Oakland?

  16. @Scott……..You’re missing the point,..you already pay for security, but you have no choice. : )
When I go and buy some cookies, the company whose cookies I buy will prosper if everyone, or most agree with my vote (buying the cookies). If the cookies are not any good, (which is decided by the amount of cookies bought) that company goes out of business.
Government is just a group of businesses, the difference being, they have the monopoly!, wheather you like it or not.

  17. “Personally I would prefer to vote a private security firm (with my money), to protect me,…same as all the other forms of service. Allowing for the competion of free market mechanics!”

Actually, if done right, elected law enforcement will follow market principles just fine.

The trouble with paid-for private law enforcement is obvious– the “Equal Protection” idea we were founded on. Everyone is equal under the law…

Not “those who can pay can have protection”…

Proper government function is a balancing act. We are talking now, because the balance is gone.

Collectivism must balance with individualism. Freedom needs balance with order. Free markets need balance with uhhh, law and order I suppose…

    @Dedo:
Thank-you. Did you read Juergenwahl’s post yesterday where he defined freedom as a living corpse? I liked that.

sorry to Jeannon if I was too snooty…all good here

  19. how do you spell that again,……comp etition,..hmm

  20. @Jeannon,…..Have you ever considered, what, exactly government is?
Personally I would prefer to vote a private security firm (with my money), to protect me,…same as all the other forms of service. Allowing for the competion of free market mechanics!

  21. frances snoot

You truly do not mean “rule of law”…that is the communitarian buzz phrase which Mr. Bush senior refers to here:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CWBTL33MpA

Perhaps you meant the law of precedent deriving its force from British common law?

  22. @Jeannon Kralj

Sounds like you are describing the U.S. Constitution

  23. frances snoot

Straw men scare away pesky crows.

  24. Jeannon Kralj

“Government will never protect “our” rights as government was not set up to do so. ”

Basically agree, but I am not an anarchist. Believe we need a little government. Government is bad because government is pure force. But still, we need some way to protect individual rights and keep everybody from stepping on others’ toes, or should I say stealing each others’ toes.

I believe in something called “the rule of law” , not “democracy.”

I choose to be perspicacious about Mr. Snoot’s straw man arguments and other logical fallacies.

  25. @John,….so did I,.lol

  26. @frances snoot

Now I had to look up “perspicacious.” But your right, of course.

  27. @Frances,…..Excellent prose,. you and Richard ought to get your heads togeather : )

I believe every human being is fallen, not basically “good”, and they must each earn their living by the sweat of their brow. So in that sense, being a “slave” is simply part of the human condition.

    @Jeannon:
Christian hierarchy, eh? God=Good, priest=power, pawns=churchgoers. Christians are all forced by absurdity to follow the bouncing ball of goodness as defined by the church interpretation of words on a printed page.

Or do you have special divine revelation?

“We need government to protect our rights and we need government kept small, transparent and local, so we can watch them every second of the day.”

Government has been a front or hedge fund distributeur for rich elite interests via corporations and banks for hundreds of years in America. Government will never protect “our” rights as government was not set up to do so.

Your idea of freedom extends to those who agree with your dogmatic assertions. As far as Hegelian left and Hegelian right, the Obama administration is a collectivist communitarian party which draws from the left and right paradigm to create a synthesis, or “change we can believe in”. The Hegelian maxim could be described as “all that is rational is actual and all that is actual is rational” with the state to decide what constitutes rational.

Life is like a diving board. One must jump from the board termed absurd to swim in the pool. I understand the necessity of perspective, but let’s term absurdities perspectual leaps shall we?

  31. Jeannon Kralj

“gorked” is an old sixties word that means megalomaniacal.

  32. @Jeannon Kralj

    Gorked?

  33. Jeannon Kralj

    Jim splendid post.

Appreciate the Hegelian reference as it seems to almost explain everything.

Max does not ever seem to mention the need for USA industry to be reestablished and for the government to stop rewarding corporations for moving their operations overseas. Max’s prescription for making everything hum again seems to be lacking that crucial ingredient. How can their be economic recovery if people do not have jobs?

Another thing I see as important to mention is that all of this is DELIBERATE. It has been in progress for decades and the goal is one world govenrment under the moneyed elites. These are not just “greedy” banksters making one greedy decision after another. “Blaming the crisis on greed’ is like blaming plane crashes on gravity” (Thomas Woods “Meltdown)

I believe every human being is fallen, not basically “good”, and they must each earn their living by the sweat of their brow. So in that sense, being a “slave” is simply part of the human condition.

When talking about the opposite of slavery, freedom, I would say that many of us do not understand that concept at all. They have trained that understanding out of most of us for many decades. We each surrender our freedom for perceived “bennies”, but the bennies are the hook to deepen our slavery.

We need government to protect our rights and we need government kept small, transparent and local, so we can watch them every second of the day.

I do not believet he USA was founded to be a “capitalistic” government. Free enterprise maybe yes, but “capitalism” — no. I cannot see that we have ever had anything other than “monopoly capitalism” which is not true “free market” capitalism at all.

What is happening to the USA now has already largely happend in Europe and happened long ago to all the third world countries.

All is about the establishment of the “one world death a slavery system”, a term of mine I prefer over the term “new world order.”

I know collectivism is wrong. I know there is something too idealistic about Austrian economics, and I know that Webster Tarpley is gorked.

I wish Max would give us more concrete tips on how to resist and survive the one world death and slavery system

  34. Max…when one “deposits” money in a bank one is not depositing; one is agreeing to LEND money to the bank…without the Guv guarantees; this would rarely happen. Similarly, when one votes one is giving the “representative” POWER OF ATTORNEY with no incumbency on representation. Besides, when 51 wolves can vote to devour 49 sheep….who needs it.

Gary Null is part of the Hegelian Left. The Hegelian Left exists because of the Hegelian Right. In other words, the Welfare State could not exist without the Warfare State. The Warfare State could not exist without the Welfare State. This is the false paradigm…..and it is killing everyone.(as intended)

Finally, it is not Savers vs Speculators. It is productive non-political labour/production vs non-productive political power(left & right). It is a Transfer system….Not an exchange. This is the Ancient Way. We are all Dred Scott….we are all Iraqis’ now. Remember; Yankee is Dutch for Pirate. This is simply more Norman Plunder employing any assisting or accompanying methods available.,,,old or new.

  36. How about trading cards with all the players and on the reverse it should provide all prior and present jobs, dealings, Etc. something is needed to get people to put the puzzle together and have the lights go on. Issue the first set to congress. of course.

  37. @max you need to contact Alan Greyson and give him some ammo.

  38. @ max…I used to work in the rapid prototype business…my former company now designs and makes cruise missles ….. and does so on credit……both ways…….LOL

  39. @Max Still laughing at yesterday’s post. You’re a genius, truly your talent is wasted…… still crying with laughter… thanks.

  40. @25% chance of a US$ devaluation before EOY 2009 + (surprise) Bank Holiday.

    I would agree .. ca. 25%+ !
My guess for the 75% chance is ca. Q1 2010 because that is when the Xmax period will reveal the drop in consumer spending, CC defaults, Bank losses etc. etc. etc.
OTOH, it is better to be wary … after all, it’s going to “have to be” … a surprise announcement , so maybe there’s a real chance before EOY 2009 !

  41. @Max … “Savers versus Speculators”

Same as … Good versus Evil .. in an economic and monetary sense !
    Nice statement Max.

Actually, it’s the basis of free capitalism.
What we have now is simply a Big Bankster scam … to steal “good money” from the “real economy”.

Great show .. “if you’re honest, you’re treated like a terrorist”
