Stacy Summary: No rest for the wicked. Here, or it seems in the financial headlines. And . . . @Danny . . . don’t do it! You don’t want to start carrying around a banana, it attracts the monkeys. Just ask Max. He gets harassed by them all the time.
“Ask yourself this: who bails out Government after they have bailed out everyone?”

‘US economy tumbles at twice expected rate; bankers say they would quit if had cap on bonuses; and Citigroup receives its third bailout’
@ Danny ,..off topic question but an answer would be greatly appreciated ,. how safe is the public transport in Dublin at night time ? [ my partners daughter is off to study in Dublin for a year ] nothing like a bit of local knowledge ! ]much thanks in advance ! ps ..loved the banana idea as a prop to go with the party ‘ banking persona , some other ideas ‘don’t forget to wear some truly vile aftershave , perhaps go to chemist ask for some advice on worst aftershave to use before making your choice then preferably use the whole bottle before making your appearance or entrance , also add a pillow around the stomach to go with the extra extra large suit , then away you go ! time to party ! big time ! [ the only thing funnier than seeing a bunch of bankers trying to dance is watching a bunch of bankers trying to run the economy , which i guess is not so funny ] cheers mate !
Harry for President.
ps @ Danny ,i suggest the best brand of cheap or nasty aftershave for a banker to wear would be the kind of aftershave that gives everyone in the room or near you an instant headache.[my favourite is old spice ]
@V.
Maybe check this …if you haven’t already.

@Vagabond, hello re: your question at Danny who I belive lives in Cork so I’ll answer your question on his behalf as I’m sure he won’t mind, I was born, reared, and live in inner city Dublin. A useful way of thinking in Dublin is if it’s not locked down your giving it away (it being your property). Dublin can have a certain wildness about it, I moved back here from London just short of 3yrs, and live about 10mins from where I grew up, one afternoon a neighbour knocked in asking had I not heard, heard what I asked, looking outside in the street I found the wreckage of 16 cars (one my wifes) and my motorbike, a youn’ fella from a couple of doors away had stolen a truck (the driver a foreigner had left the keys in the ignition) and plowed it down our street how anyone wasn’t killed is a miracle my kids had just come in from playing, although not an everyday occurence this stuff happens often enough. The kid who stole the truck had just been released from prison, he hung himself about a week later, all very tragic.
As for public transport when its available its generally safe none of the youth knife crime that I was used too living in London. There is a lot of organised gang crime with shootings on a regular basis (I belive that we have a higher total murder rate than London) but this shouldn’t bother your parnters daughter as they do tend kill only other gang mebers.
Try get hold of a film called Adam & Paul, beautiful film. It portrays a day in the life of two Dublin junkies, a modern Ulysses so to speak, this will give you a an idea of the sort of people she may want to avoid.
Basically if she doesn’t go around with her head up her arse she should have a smashing time.
@david/vagabond
Was wondering if you were still tuning in?
How eloquent! yeah, a bit of common sense and your partners daughter will be fine, same as any other big city. Theres many many international students in Dublin so I’m sure she’ll make friends quickly.
@ David ,.Thankyou very much for your well considered reply ,much appreciated !. i am sorry to hear of what happened to your motorbike and wife’s car and glad to hear that your children were not injured by the out of control driver ,sorry also hear of what happened to the driver [guess also he must of felt very bad but i suppose he wasn't feeling to good to begin with. ] sadly, i suppose with a story like we could be living in any one of many cities around the world including melbourne where i live where we also have many such stories. Emma is a very down to earth person and will be studying mathematics & related subjects so hopefully the people that she will be meeting will be a bit more careful when it comes to driving around Dublin and having fun. i shall get her to watch the movie ‘Adam & Paul ” before leaving ,as a kind of orientation thing ,introduction to Dublin.Thankyou for your help ! ps..as for Ulysses i was surprised to hear that James Joyce suffered from severe astrophobia [fear of lightening ] hope that was not the reason he left Dublin .it has been many years since i was last in Dublin[1980's but was lots of fun ! ]
@ Danny .Thankyou also for your wise and practical advice [don't forget to let us know how the party went ? ] any tips for music , bands etc in Dublin ,Ireland ? don’t want Emma arriving looking like a dork with a suitcase full of old Cd’s on her ipod etc? otherwise they mightn’t let her past customs ,cheers !

I thought Americans could not read?
(Its called hyperbole)
Here’s Mr. Pritchard-Evans article from June of 2008 with Mr. Janjuah’s prediction of a stock market crash:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/banksandfinance/2791861/RBS-issues-global-stock-and-credit-crash-alert.html
“The Royal Bank of Scotland has advised clients to brace for a full-fledged crash in global stock and credit markets over the next three months as inflation paralyses the major central banks.”
Inflation is said to have brought on the crash!
Mr. Supergeek:
Nice idea!
@Danny, yeah I’ve been on me holliers for the past 3wks in the Black Forest, no internet. It’s incredible the difference between Germany and Ireland, Germany appears to be coping quite well with the oul global economic collapse, exports to China & India have picked up apparently, and an air of self satisfied smugness abounds.
@Vagabond, I had meant to ask is your partners daughter good looking if so I’d only be too willing to show her around ye know keep her out harms way and all that, on the other hand if she’s an oul boiler, well she’d problably be safe enough.
