Mark these words….Gold will hang around here until the G20 meeting is over….then it will be surpressed again….. exactly as last time……they are allowing a bullshit rally for agenda of motivated attendees at the meeting. A stress if you will. Gold is used in total manipulation and has been for decades. However, currently, they have a minimum price floor to avoid default on the comex….that estimated price at this time is in the vicinity of 925ish as the lowest price.

@RUSSIA TV: For those new visitors, Max and Stacy have been like Paul Revere, forewarning us of the coming ‘dollar demise’ for the past 5 to 6 years or so. Frankly, it’s been like a very slow-motion train wreck, or a bad dream where you can’t run away from the giant monster.
Ever the ‘romantic,’ I bought a book: “French Level 1,” but so far I have barely learned to slurr my l’s and roll my ‘r’s’. At this rate, I’ll never be seen fending off the pidgeons in Parc Luxembourg, or found skipping merrily through the Tulleries because (like Max) I was wise enough to buy Gold Ingots as opposed to fancy, ‘state-of-the-art’ Home Theater gear.
(lol) Actually, Max did wisely inform me about the shifting value of things back when the Euro was only fetching 1.17 or so. And, just as true HD specs became affordable, I said to hell with these yuppies and their selfish predispositions. Needless to say I began to study organic gardening and naturotherapy and began to look very closely at the fact that so few in the US have been home-gardening for these past 5 to 10 years.
Now, LOCAL FOOD PRODUCTION is an absolute imperative throughout the West, whether you choose to be found ‘among the living,’ or not. There is no sense in discussing WHEN the Dollar will depart. Like ELVIS, one day it will be gone and justifiably so.
So, my word to the wise is not to ‘buy physical gold,’ far from it. The #1 priority is to be physically as far away from the American consumer as possible when the shit hits the fan. Pessimists are shooting for collapse by October, when we may well see a ‘correction’ of at least -1,000 on the DOW. Lately they say the GAO can keep successfully running the presses through March, which isn’t much help, but could mean life-or-death to those who start now to prepare for bartering under an alternative economic model.

Where did it all go?
Vanity Fair October 2009
Good Billions After Bad
Exactly one year has elapsed since the onset of the financial crisis and the passage of the bailout bill. Some measure of scrutiny and control has since been imposed by the Obama administration, but even today it’s hard to walk back the cat and trace the money. Up to a point, though, it’s possible to reconstruct some of what happened in the first chaotic and crucial three months of the bailout, when Treasury was still in the hands of Henry Paulson and most of the money was disbursed. Needless to say, there is no central clearinghouse for information about the tarp money. To get details of any kind means starting with the hundreds of individual recipients, then poring over S.E.C. filings, annual reports, and other documentation—in other words, performing the standard due diligence that the government itself failed to perform. In the report that follows, we have no more than dipped a toe into the morass, but one fact emerges clearly: a lot of the money wound up in the coffers of some very surprising institutions— institutions that should have been seen as “troubling” as much as “troubled.”
If tarp had been a credit card, it would have been called Carte Blanche. That authority was all Paulson needed to switch gears, within a matter of days, and change the entire thrust of the program from buying bad assets to buying stock in banks.
By and large, the cash that went to the Big 9 simply became part of their capital base, and most of the big banks declined to indicate where the money actually went. Because of the sheer size of these institutions, it’s simply impossible to trace. Bank of America no doubt used a portion of its $25 billion in tarp funds to help it absorb Merrill Lynch. Citigroup revealed in its first quarterly report after receiving $45 billion in tarp funds that it had used $36.5 billion to buy up mortgages and to make new loans, including home loans.

The Next Financial Crisis
Banking was once a dangerous profession. In Britain, for instance, bankers faced “unlimited liability”–that is, if you ran a bank, and the bank couldn’t repay depositors or other creditors, those people had the right to confiscate all your personal assets and income until you repaid. It wasn’t until the second half of the nineteenth century that Britain established limited liability for bank owners. From that point on, British bankers no longer assumed much financial risk themselves.
In the United States, there was great experimentation with banking during the 1800s, but those involved in the enterprise typically made a substantial commitment of their own capital. For example, there was a well-established tradition of “double liability,” in which stockholders were responsible for twice the original value of their shares in a bank. This encouraged stockholders to carefully monitor bank executives and employees. And, in turn, it placed a lot of pressure on those who managed banks. If they fared poorly, they typically faced personal and professional ruin. The idea that a bank executive would retain wealth and social status in the event of a self-induced calamity would have struck everyone–including bank executives themselves–as ludicrous.
Over the past century, we have moved away from a system where bank shareholders and senior executives paid dearly for bad management–and toward a system where fired bank bosses make off with fortunes or launch brilliant political careers. No one is on the financial hook, other than the taxpayer. Consider the case of Citigroup, a seriously troubled bank. Chuck Prince, the CEO who fell flat on his face, walked away with close to $100 million. Win Bischoff, former chairman and interim CEO of Citigroup during the debacle, has just been appointed chairman of Lloyds Banking Group in the United Kingdom–reflecting the high esteem in which he is apparently still held. And Robert Rubin, Treasury secretary under Clinton, made over $100 million as board member and chair of Citigroup. In an interview late in 2008, he brushed off any responsibility for the mismanagement of anything. And so, our recurring financial crises are not isolated random events; they emerge from a pattern of private and public sector behavior. Enabled by the Fed, our system’s tolerance for risk is out of control. This is an increasingly dangerous system. It is only a matter of time until it collapses again.

If only we had heeded the other Dr. Doom, Henry Kaufman.
Bear Stearns Cos. might still be standing. Americans wouldn’t have run up some $34 trillion in domestic nonfinancial debt. And Ben Bernanke could have kept his dollar-spewing helicopter in the hangar.
The nickname Dr. Doom was hung on Kaufman long before it became synonymous with Nouriel Roubini, the New York University gloom meister. Kaufman, a former Salomon Brothers Inc. managing director and economist, has spent decades telling anyone who would listen about the dangers of ballooning debt, deregulation, excessive risk-taking, and the rise of financial conglomerates such as Citigroup Inc.
In “The Road to Financial Reformation,” he recapitulates his past predictions, discusses the consequences for free markets and lays out a blueprint for fixing our broken regulatory machinery. The book makes for painful reading at a time when bailed-out bankers are again scooping up tens of millions in compensation dollars.

Amazing 4 hour report on German Vox Channel tonight
On 9/11 … was an inside job they say / prove !
I’m starting to lose count of the # of reports they’re bringing here in German TV. Loads of new ( to me ) evidence presented .. many things I didn’t know before.
They even pointed the finger directly at the US Administration .. SEC, CI A, FB I etc. The documentary was the strongest I’ve ever seen in years.
I mean, they were shouting the evidence in your face .. as if to say “wake up” !
I wonder if this is part of some campaign for something bigger … like a rift / split away from US puppetry ?
2 hours on the preparation for detonation; loads of serious eye-winesses and expert opinions..
Another 2 hours on the aircrew side.

Hey Max…check out Gary Dorsch’s article over at Safehaven….get your head right Luke!! He didn’t even mention the Chinese money-bomb.
They Chinese avoid the problem they had with the big Iron buy namely because they are the only big buyers on the market everyone is watching them and prices go up rapidly. The best thing the Chinese can do is not to buy to much in one time but wait everytime prices fall back for the next round.
Have to admit that gold is an other trading “environment ” than Iron but the same rules can be aplied here, just buy a little each time and wait till prices fall back to buy more.
This could be an interesting game between gold surpressers and China buying gold.

Bloody hell frances!
Brainwashing leads us to live by the clock which is useful in this society in terms of synchronisation but does cause anxiety. Wothout it could we be good robots? @Dedo………that’s deep man!
@frances…………..Do we attract reality or create it? Do we procreate it? Are there entities outside our perceptual base?
Mmmm….good questions!
On your 1st question – I would say we don’t attract it so much as find it if we have inquisitive, free thinking minds. But we do create it if there are enough of us thinking along the same lines (100 monkeys rule).
2nd question – I guess yes if the seeds have been planted. For example, fiat currency only works because many people have faith in it so in that sense we were given the option of having the faith (although most probably didn’t realise they had the option).
3rd – yep, definitely!
I don’t like bean neither,….but I sure do like openin’ dem cans,….: )
Yuck. Beans on toast.

Shassa,
no need to be negative, love peace and happiness is the key.
I studied Ouspensky years ago, he said that there is no sense in worrying about something that you can’t change. The CORP has been running the world for more than 400 years they are not about to give up just because gold goes up or US$ goes down.
The CORP is way too big to fail, just look after yourself and your family,,,
Do we attract reality or create it? Do we procreate it? Are there entities outside our perceptual base?
Or rather 151st (but 1st on new page).
Hah! 1st!
You know, there is something to this ‘you create your own reality’ business imo. So if we are all thinking bad things will happen then they probably will. The ptb know this and have been using it for some time (I’ll try to dig up a bit more info on that). Anyway, if we all imagined peace, harmony, togetherness and love amongst all people it would happen right?
I do worry sometimes that we’re on a self fulfilling prophecy. Kind of makes you think that the sheeple could be doing us a favour. Sorry to use the word ‘sheeple’, I know some don’t like it but it is in a positive context.
Bullish talk on Gold ..
Here’s just a snippet :
… “Andrew Mickey: Let’s switch our gears for a moment here to gold and silver…right at this point, everyone is focusing on the long, long term, say 10 years, 15 years out.
John Embry: I’m focusing on the next two months and I think we are going to have an explosion in the price of gold.
Andrew Mickey: Do you see a specific catalyst?
John Embry: One of the great factors is sentiment right now – the sentiment that you just mentioned. There is currently considerable apathy towards gold and silver. However, demand is exploding on the investment side, for the simple reason that people can see, with each passing day, that the currencies are going to be significantly debased.
You’ve got enormous government financing requirements over the next 12 months. Where is the money going to come from? A lot will be created out of – thin air and, that’s going to result in a huge volume of new currency.”…
http://www.q1publishing.com/dispatch/503/Gold-Outlook%3A-Explosion-in-the-Price-of-Gold-Imminent-(Part-II
. . . . . . .
The biggest catalyst for a huge spike in the Gold price is IMO…
#1 when everybody sees the light
#2 when they discover there isn’t enough Gold to go around
#3 the Gold miners have being BK’d or bought up over the last years due to the fact that their Gold mining was unprofitable due to the low Goldprice ; i.e. supplies are limited.

German TV tonight ..
The main channels here are going to host a talk between the “main” Chancellor candidates Merkel and Steinmeyer ( CDU / SPD ).
The leaders of the other “main parties” – Greens, FDP and Die Linken – are up in arms because they think it’s a disgrace that the viewer should think there are only 2 possible winners to the election.
Too damn right !
Of course, the average salaries of ZDF and ARD people are sooooo nice and big .. they wouldn’t want to rock the boat now would they ?
PS:
I read that the “average” salaries in the ZDF head office in Cologne was 15,000 DMs per head ( x 2000 people ) … and that was way back in the 1980′s !
That’s 25 years ago … imagine what they’re getting “now” in Euros !
PPS:
The private channels have also complained that the “state channels” spend roughly 10x the budget that they have through the private advertising.
The ZDF and ARD ( and ca. 40 other “state” channels ) are the quivalent of the BBC, i.e. we pay GEZ fees every quarter ).
@Dedo…..can you recommend any particular vids/reading material by her that gives an overview of her beliefs/knowledge?

@Dedo………I agree totally,….
Flipping heck Dedo…..I had to read that twice. We’ll have to get divorced if we start agreeing on things.
@Youri … sheesh , you have my sympathy !
I started getting interested in “political books” ( not politics as such )when I noticed how the “state establishment” was always somehow getting richer and more tightly connected as if in a web; while every year, vast and ever increasing sums of money are spent by them ( and on their salaries, expenses , family connections etc. etc. ) while the tax-payer ( and small/mid-sized companies ) were struggling with the burocracy and taxes imposed upon them.
I think I already posted here that in the book about the ex-Bundesbank President Pohl ( resigned due to Kohl ), it was stated that the “petty-cash” of the German politicians was ca. 4 Bio. DMs per year.
I extrapolated this into Euros for a 20+ year period at 4% interest and dicovered it respented ca. 7% of the national debt !
i.e. If they had “not spent” their petty cash, we’d have now 7% less debt !
… and that is JUST the petty-cash !!!
Many German professors have written excellent books on the subject ( “Das System” is IMO the best one ).
I noticed ( via amazon.de ) that the number of readers of such books is very small .. even some of those books are now being sold for less than 1 Euro.
The son of the farmer that sometimes delivers wood teaches History at the local Uni.
I’ve spoken to him at some length about “what’s really going on” and asked him about whether he’d read any of those (German) books or even other works from the same authors. Not a single one he replied !
OK .. he has to keep his “party line” job at the Uni I suppose and has a lot of other reading to do.
BTW … re: INDIA
… which is why I was so impressed with the IIT students I spoke to ( mentioned earlier, that Stacy should get together with them ).
Those guys were so lateral , critical and open minded in their thinking .. I just didn’t want to stop listening to them.
What a difference to (many) students here in Germany and the UK.
OTOH, most of those Indian students already had a job in the US ( 1980′s ) lined up for them , and probably came from richer parents AFAIK.
Which comes back to :
“most people don’t have time to sit back and think, because they’re too busy struggling to pay their rent etc.
.. which is of course ideal for the PsTB.

@Phil & all……….Again, the power-structure in the West is the “old” establishment ( MIC, WB, UN, etc. ).

I dunno guys. I get the feeling that the old power made a deal some time ago with China and that is who is standing behind them. Remember, they always back both sides and were behind Russia and Germany and UK and US. I’m not sure it’s ‘countries’ anymore that have the power but rather the oligarchs behind those countries using them as their chess peices. I could be wrong but it just makes more sense to me.

I agree with you. The risk for intelectuals not going into politics is being governed by the dumb. I would take the decision going into politics if I where in a “normal” position but I am not.
Besides I can stand the whole decieving atmosphere surrounding politics. I would be kicked out some party in a day cause I can’t shut my mouth for the truth somthing whch is expected in these environments. lieing and decieving is not my greatest quality.
I am being prosecuted by the government right now. Phone is being tapped. My house is under surveillance. I am fighting with half baken advocates to get to work. At this time I have a ban to do any activity on the Internet to get on with my work from my own government! I have to find another advocate cause the one I have refuses to help me anu further. Can go on for hours here but I know what a NAZI regime means.

PHIL! I picture you in a library positioned between Yeats and a bust of Beethoven.
So how do you propose to get the UN to sanction the UN? And isn’t the UN just an arm of service for the Financial Stability Board members at BIS? Hasn’t everyone always been flowing along the same conduits since the wars?
Anyway: who says the little-aged-old person behind the screen isn’t a Japanese woman?

The battle becomes clearer every day …

US/UK + all their supporters

The Lion thought it might be as well to frighten the Wizard, so he gave a large, loud roar, which was so fierce and dreadful that Toto jumped away from him in alarm and tipped over the screen that stood in the corner. As it fell with a crash they looked that way, and the next moment all of them were filled with wonder. For they saw, standng in just the spot the screen had hidden, a little old man, with a bald head and a wrinkled face, who seemed to be as much surprised as they were. The Tin Woodman, raising his axe, rushed toward the little man and cried out,
“Who are you?”
” I am Oz, the Great and Terrible,” said the little man, in a trembling voice, “but don’t strike me–please–don’t!–and I’ll do anything you want me to.”
Our friends looked at him in suprise and dismay. “I thought Oz was a great Head,” said Dorothy. “And I thought Oz was a lovely Lady,” said the Scarecrow. “And I thought Oz was a terrible Beast” said the Tin Woodman. “And I thought Oz was a Ball of Fire,” exclaimed the Lion.

@Youri Carma – there will 1.5 million fewer continuing claims by the end of the year as people lose their unemployment benefits; and each of those 1.5 million who fall off the unemployment rolls will be celebrated by the markets as somehow good for the economy
The number of U.S. workers filing new claims for jobless benefits fell last week to 550,000, according to a government report on Thursday that also showed the number of those collecting long-term aid tumbled.
Analysts polled by Reuters had expected initial claims to drop to 560,000, after reaching 576,000 the prior week, which had previously been reported as 570,000.
Continued claims fell to 6.088 million in the week ended August 29, the latest for which the data is available, from 6.247 million the prior week. That was the lowest level since the week ended April 4.

What we got instead, was the usual lobbying efforts by the finance industry. They own Congress, lock stock and barrel, and they throttled Financial Reform. In the battle for hearts and minds on the topic of internet downloads, the establishment has long reasoned that the most economical method is to take a blunt instrument and cut out the heart and the mind of most people. This has been done very effectively in the UK. Ministers are racing to implement legislation that is divorced from reality, and counters all expert advice.
As the linked article suggests, It would appear that some musicians would take an alternative view, and this is a promising sign. Radio Caroline helped ignite a multi-billion pound industry. Seminal figures acted as evangelists and presto…. a music industry.
Personally I would like the word ‘pirate’ re-allocated to the re-al pirates. People in suits who lock creative work up behind bars of legalese. Downloaders are the copyright liberation front.
Now, to counter my argument slightly – mmm maybe its a whole other thing – you, my dear reader, can decide. I would like to take issue with the Internet Manifesto – even tho its intentions are no doubt very good.
I want to relate it to the story of non-revolution. Early 19 century England was ripe for revolution. A cruel regime turned people into monsters and slaves. It was a powder keg. If it had blown, maybe England would have had a similar experience to that of the French. However, The Great Reform Act of 1832 eased the pressure and allowed the establishment to continue with only moderate compromises. The workers were bought out cheaply. They even grew to describe themselves as working class, learnt to enjoy toxic food and practiced self-mutilation in the form of fags and booze.
Schemes such as the Internet Manifesto represent the same in my view. Why bother trying to negotiate with scum on the same level. Fuck em. Don’t bother explaining what journalism is, move on and leave those who do not ‘get it’ in the mud. Take full market advantage of the fact you bother to stay real and oppose any move to slow you down.

Update on the Plans for a National ID
Either government controls the people or the people control the government
Once again, security for the country is what we are told is the motivation for allowing the government the capability to listen to phone calls or monitor our emails. We are asked to believe that agencies and departments of the federal government will not use all the tools in the technological cookie jar that Congress has provided.
I am bewildered as to why anyone would trust that the NSA, FBI or DHS will start obeying the law. The FBI scripted their own version of FISA (which eavesdropped on American citizen’s phone calls, intercepted emails and monitored financial transactions). The FBI abused National Security Letters. DHS’s Mocny conceded that the DHS can and will ignore federal privacy laws.
The Stop Real ID Coalition and the Constitutional Alliance work around the clock attempting to stay current on the laws, initiatives and programs that impact our freedom.
If as a country, we make a conscience decision not to accept risk but rather “at all costs” institute any and all measures that might protect us from a terrorist attack, we will not remain a free country. We must be willing to accept some risk if we are to preserve our liberty, rights and freedom.
Make no mistake about it. As a country we are giving the federal government the laws and tools (technology) to control us. We have not learned the lessons of the McCarthy era. We also have not learned from our experience while J. Edgar Hoover was the Director of the FBI. We have not learned from the abuses of power witnessed under the Bush administration or those already taking place under the Obama administration.
I do not know what the “trigger” will be the provides government with the “excuse/reason” to take full control. The trigger might be an economic collapse, a terrorist event, a pandemic or even a natural disaster. The fact is a number of possibilities real or imagined exist that can be the trigger. What I do know is once government has power it does not relinquish it.
We at the Stop Real ID Coalition and the Constitutional Alliance fully support the people in law enforcement, our military and our intelligence community. We recognize the federal government has a responsibility to protect the citizens of the United States. That being said, protecting does not equate to controlling. We support state driver’s licenses with document integrity. We do not want to see counterfeit driver’s licenses used to facilitate any criminal activity including acts of terrorism. We have an alternative to the Real ID Act 2005, PASS ID Act and the REAL ID Repeal and Identification Security Enhancement Act of 2009
UPDATE ON SB1261 AND HR3471
There have been some articles about SB1261 (Providing for Additional Security in States’ Identification Act of 2009) or the PASS ID Act. Very few people if any are talking about HR3471 (REAL ID Repeal and Identification Security Enhancement Act of 2009, short title).
What is important for all citizens to realize is the Real ID Act, PASS ID Act and the REAL ID Repeal and Identification Security Enhancement Act of 2009 all either do or will require that Americans be enrolled into a single global biometric identification system. If one supports any of these bills then they support the federal government intervening in the issuance of state driver’s licenses.
I am absolutely besides myself attempting to understand why we are so blind about the power we are giving to the federal government. The federal government has set 29% as being an acceptable rate to catch people and goods entering our country illegally through authorized Customs Border Patrol checkpoints.
If our government has the biometric information of terrorists then why not focus on terrorists at our checkpoints instead of all U.S. citizens? If we do not have the biometric information of terrorists then why are we collecting the biometric information of American citizens?
I get emails and telephone calls everyday asking me about the status of the aforementioned legislation.
1) PASS ID Act has passed with an amendment added, in committee (Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee). It is my opinion that the PASS ID Act will be attached to other legislation before being heard by the full senate. The Real ID Act 2005 was attached to other legislation (military spending and tsunami relief). I believe PASS ID will be attached to an appropriations spending bill. I do not believe the senate will take the time to debate PASS ID on its own merits. Some will see the attachment of PASS ID to other legislation as a way to avoid debate or at least limit debate on PASS ID. Others will argue attaching PASS ID to other legislation is a logical thing to do in order to best utilize the time the senate has to hear legislation. In either case the result will be the PASS ID Act will pass in the senate.
2) REAL ID Repeal and Identification Security Enhancement Act of 2009 (HR3471) has been referred to two house committees, the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and in addition to the Committee on the Judiciary. HR3471 repeals Title II of the Real ID Act 2005 just as the PASS ID Act does. HR3471 will reinstitute section 7212 of the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004.
Not confused yet? The Pass ID Act calls for a non negotiated rulemaking process while HR3471 calls for a negotiated rulemaking process.
The point is there is no way most people are going to understand the many nuances that are a reality when speaking about the path legislation can take to become law. It is equally true that the rulemaking process is not easily understood.
While the country is focused on healthcare, cap and trade, immigration and other issues the federal government is pulling the rug right our from underneath our feet. The federal government has gone from protecting citizens to now wanting to control citizens.
I have been on the phone all morning working with our contacts to open the door to my testifying in opposition to HR3471. I have been put in contact with the people on “the Hill” that can make my testifying a reality.
If we need the support of citizens to make calls we will put out an Action Alert.
On a final note-HR3174, Photo Identification Security Act has been referred to the Subcommittee on Government Management, Organization, and Procurement. HR3174 mandates that all federal agencies/departments and financial institutions require a Real ID compliant driver’s license. If Real ID (Title II) is repealed then HR3174 will be amended to change from Real ID to PASS ID or whatever replaces Real ID, compliant driver’s license.
@gb .. Yes , it’s been there awhile.!
Can’t be difficult to correct !

@Sharon,……..grrrrrrrr
Love the internet manifesto! Now I might be seeing what I want to see but to me it seems like a clever way of saying to those who would police/legislate the internet to ‘back off!’ Seems to cover most of the important bases and makes some very good points imo.
@Palantiri………You decide; who’s the bigger asshole, the one selling this stuff or the one buying this stuff?
You’re a man after my own heart. Some seem to think that so long as they are making money on an event/circumstance that they didn’t actually cause then morality doesn’t come into it. Whereras I take the view that if morals have become redundant then we are all screwed. You listening Dedo?
@Mike2L … as Stacy said .. step back and look at the longer term Gold chart versus US$-value – i.e. “inflation” adjusted.
I got 80,000 DMs per Kg. in 1986 from a German bank for my gold.
That’s 40,000 Euros today … 2x current price !
My mistake was NOT buying when it was 250$ ca. Y2000 !
Damn !
Max was smarter AFAIK !
Gold is hardly falling like a rock. It’s down less than 1%. Big deal. Plus it’s just the trading herds anyway. Bank of England held rates at what .25% and didn’t announce any new quantitative easing. Woohoo. So the herds went long dollar and short gold for today. Big deal. If you want to stay sane you have to step back a bit and look at the bigger trend because short term stuff will slaughter your account.
Interest rate flat,…….over and out,.
What time is The Keiser Report on today??
…..look at gold!!!
There is danger from all men. The only maxim of a free government ought to be to trust no man living with power to endanger the public liberty.

should listen to this; http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/media/article6814178.ece
This few days old story was in my news paper today:
Wall Street Pursues Profit in Bundles of Life Insurance http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/06/business/06insurance.html?scp=1&sq=securities%20by%20life%20insurance%20policies&st=cse
For f#ck sake, that is just sickening… if you had any doubt of how morally screwed the Wall Street Investment banks are then read that story. It may still be in the planning stage but the idea itself is repulsive and worse if it is carried out. Even though one financial bubble burst the Wall Street Gang is fixed upon inflating another bubble apparently no matter what it is, don’t they learn or do they not want to learn from the past?
“…The earlier the policyholder dies, the bigger the return — though if people live longer than expected, investors could get poor returns or even lose money…”
“…Goldman Sachs has developed a tradable index of life settlements, enabling investors to bet on whether people will live longer than expected or die sooner than planned…”
“…A bond made up of life settlements would ideally have policies from people with a range of diseases — leukemia, lung cancer, heart disease, breast cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s. That is because if too many people with leukemia are in the securitization portfolio, and a cure is developed, the value of the bond would plummet…”
You decide; who’s the bigger asshole, the one selling this stuff or the one buying this stuff?
===========================
On a different matter, as Kevin Orrick and David McAlvany have said, there are 30 times more sellers than buyers in the market now, where do the money then come from to make the market grow the way we see it does? Is it driven by the companies’ excess liquidity (given to them by the public…)?
Well I’m off.
