  2. Acorn is a “poverty pimp” for elite “white” lefty elites, a corrupt mafia like organization colluding with corrupt politicians, Fannie and Freddie and lenders like Golden West Financial Corporation to flood the market with subprime loans.

  3. Great listen, guys. (As always.) Max, love your comments about Michael Moore. One of the things I like about you is that you can admit when you’re less than perfect but you don’t shy away from pointing at someone else and illustrating fault. I have yet to see Moore’s documentary but I’ve seen him debating his movie in interviews and I agree, he does come across as a tad weak on the subject.

Stacy, I have also visited Vegas only once, and had the same thoughts when the money starting going, “What am I doing here? Why am I putting my money into this machine?” Vegas epitomizes the silliness of American culture. An entire country of people have been brainwashed into thinking it’s fun to lose money.

How classy can a place be when its motto is “What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas”? Apparently some people didn’t get their yayas out when they were young, so they’re still dealing with all kinds of repression issues when they reach adulthood. At that point, the vultures move in to profit from it. Come here! Bring your money! We’ll help you deal with all that repression!

    Sad.

Anyway, damned right. Gambling. Americans have based their culture on gaming, competition and gambling. You could have a very serious discussion with an American who is “awake”, and has put a massive chunk of his portfolio into gold and silver, and hates the Fed and wants it gone, wants to protect the Constitution etc. Then 2 minutes later he’ll ask you, “so who did you pick between the Bucs and Giants this week? I put $100 on the Bucs because I’m thinking the Giants can’t pull it off again this week. They’re weak on defense.”

Is it really? I beg to differ!

  8. Not to be outdone in idiocy, out of Obama’s mouth jumped Orwellian doublespeak: “The Iranian government must now demonstrate through deeds its peaceful intentions or be held accountable to international standards and international law.”

The incongruity blows the mind. Here is Obama, with troops engaged in wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan demanding that a peaceful nation at war with no one demonstrate “its peaceful intentions or be held accountable to international standards and international law.”

    http://vdare.com/roberts/090925_g20.htm

  9. Capitalism is a Human Condition…not an economic method. Freedom precedes Property. Capitalism….would be the right to exercise, employ, retain your own labour//production. Capitalism has NEVER existed for one hour anywhere in the History of the World…and NEVER will; for obvious reasons.

Your so-called Capitalism…is really just “Creditism//Debtism”…a severe example of technocratic MERCANTILISM(State dirigiste).

Anyone who praises or criticizes “Capitalism” is a fool, a moron….for there is no such thing.

No one gets the right answer without first asking the right question.

Calling the “open market” operations…an open market…is truly hilarious.

  10. Max…I think it’s the STATE that’s failing….think of Amerika(the Puritan Empire) as the Super-State; or, the Super failure…..this phenomena has its roots in “europeans” leaving the Mediterranean some 500 yrs ago. Sadly, they took way too much of their Greco-Roman “heritage with them.

Guys like Roger bacon & Joachim de Fiore are great insights into everything “current”…and lived 800 yrs ago….and so it goes.

  11. @jim
Yeah…but you gotsta admit it’s a ‘funky phantom’

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jDjkESR-4Y

  12. Amerikanism….the Puritan Empire…is clearly the most refined, extensive Totalitarianism in the History of the World. Amerikanism, despite its rhetoric, pleadings & deformed lawyering is the greatest threat to the Human Condition yet experienced in ALL of Human History. Pretending that current issues are anything other that this massive assault….and encouraging, celebrating any distractions from this central, elemental REALITY reflects infantile paralysis.

  13. It’s the STATE STUPID!!!!!…..Don’t sweat the what’s….Sweat the WHYS!!!! Find the PURPOSE….downgrade, subordinate the Cause.

  14. ” there is no plurality of forces in the world, there are only two. these two are not the opposition of freedom against tyranny…but of one faith against another”…..Hannah Arendt

  15. Listening to the show still . . .

interesting tidbit about ACORN, because they work WITH the people, they were the first group to blow the whistle on subprime mortgage scams. Too bad that Congress and other agencies ignored them, eh?!

  16. “In the discussion about necessary reforms of the international monetary and financial system, the problem of the United States dollar serving as the main international reserve asset has received renewed attention.
Central banks, motivated by the desire to reduce exchange-rate risk in a world of financial and currency instability, have been increasingly diversifying their reserve holdings into other currencies, in particular the euro. Against this background, a proposal first discussed in the late 1970s has recently resurfaced. It
argues for facilitating reserve diversification away from dollars without the risk of a major dollar crisis by giving central banks the possibility to deposit dollar reserves in a special “substitution account” at the IMF denominated in SDRs. These SDRs could also be used to settle international payments. Since the SDR is valued as the weighted average of the major currencies, its value is more stable than that of each of theconstituent currencies. However, the problem of exchange-rate determination of the currencies of member States would remain. The exchange-rate risk would, at least partly, be shifted to the IMF, as it would implya currency mismatch between the Fund’s assets and liabilities. The risk would have to be covered either through the generation of higher revenues by the IMF or by guarantees from member States”

Are you the wizard to know my intuition is based on a reasonable assumption.

  24. since when did assumptions become reasonable…see Mr Godel…and catch yourself a tall drink…..

  25. Reason is built upon assumptions.

And you, Jim, although you desire to believe in your invincible originality are as banal and fraudulent as we other mere mortals seeing as we all appropriate whatever language we are proximate to. And yet, the feminine divines language from afar not relying upon reason as a means of travel hitherto.

America belonged to the dispossessed dreamers more than to any other class because they kept the hunger alive, they fed the dream with their daily ration of effort, and they wrote and sang and danced and drank the dream of justice and peace.

And like that sow bug inside a building, they inevitably would be stepped on and crushed by the impersonal boot heels of circumstances.

America was a carnie tent, a strip club, or an alley behind a restaurant. America was a drunken bet and the tremble turned all the way up on a telecaster. America was a midget hotwalking a thoroughbred, a beat poet, and a trubador singing to an empty club.

America was a sow bug following the straight caulk line of freedom from one intersection to another.

  40. Better hurry jim, not much love left. 35 million Americans or about 12% are on food stamps which is the higest number since records were kept back in ’69

  41. @carry trades

The carry trade hoopla is very much overstated.

Really doubt that any carry trades are going on during a major generational bust like this one. The commercial banking sector has full control of intermediation of the currencies rather than the central banks, and cannot seem to make their pegging of world currencies to commodities actually work. It bust with the oil price. Therefore, outstanding derivatives obligations will restrict any legerdemain in the forex. They can only operate on currency differentials as it stands, because the G-8 has such low overall interest rates. Not suitable for the re-bubbling.

There are two notable exceptions, one where the banking system is on the ropes, Russia, with temporarily high interest rates, and Brazil, who just go upgraded by Moody’s. You will notice that there is much emphasis on emerging economies. I am quite surprised that South Korea is being given prominent place in this scheme, even with their collapsed currency.

Note that Israeli – Russian diplomacy precedes the announcement that Iran was discovered to have extra facilities for uranium processing. Israeli mercenaries were involved in South Ossetia, where it was hoped to cause a regional conflict on the doorstep of the Bear. The reasoning was so stretched that was summarily shot down by a twelve year old girl. So perhaps the return to targetting Iran by Israel will become a reality.

Iran has their backs to the wall, because peaceful nuclear programmes exist without the use of uranium or a weapons cycle. Thorium was the first nuclear fuel and was abandoned, since it was unsuitable for producing weapons. So Iran with their venture on uranium processing is clearly attempting to create weapons grade material.

  42. @Fransix

Iran was not “discovered” to have additional facilities. Iran was required to informed the IAEA 6 months before the introduction of gas. Instead Iran informed IAEA 18 months before and is compliant with the non-proliferation treaty, unlike other nuclear powers.

There was no discovery. There was a filing by Iran that is being heralded as some super secret program that was “outed”.

  43. g’nite all. sweet dreams.

  44. @Dan II

Thank you for the lecture, I just didn’t want to use parentheses.

Any country developing nuclear fuel using Uranium is looking to make weapons. The fear is that they will release this material or a working weapon to terrorist groups in reprisal to the mass killings in the middle east. Pakistan is one place, Iran is another.

imo, a nuclear conflict is likely to occur between India and Pakistan, with Pakistan the loser, while everybody looks on from the sidelines. (really, both sides would be losers.) Pakistan has Islam and India has commies.

Iran’s nuclear weapons programme would change the equation. Iran’s extremism is far too much like the recently departed Bush administration, so they fall within a certain category of batting back and forth between Russia and the West. Do you kinda get how serious the brinkmanship is, aside from what the media is trying to jam down our throats?

  47. @FranSix

Didn’t mean to lecture. I have been seeing the buzz words all day concerning Iran’s disclosure. The war drums are getting louder and I feel like that big Indian in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. I want to bust out of this insanity. Did everyone forget about Iraq’s WMDs already? after youri mentioned his gaddaf/horse dream I wanna mention…when jim started posting earlier I just nodded off….and I had this dream that frances called round…I was out and my partner entertained her, but she was gone by the time I arrived…while being told of the news, our place was invaded by some new neighbours who just let themselves in….I tend to not lock my front door…a massive family of all ages…and one of em had a maxkeiser shoulder bag…still I was pretty annoyed and tried to make them leave…at which point I looked out the window and there was a brown bear running round outside…which started to jump up at the windows and tried to get in the house…blah blah …woke up…right now I’m wondering what would be best to do stop spending so much time on this site or go back to getting stoned(dream suppression was always a great side effect) but mostly I think I’m gonna call my broker and cash in all the shares I have in that spam mine…premonition??? dunno…but you have been warned.

Your listeners may want to listen to Dylan Ratigan’s interview of Michael Moore last week. Yes, Max, investment banks ARE the bane of American politics and the society as a whole. Ask Dylan, at MSNBC, to give you a forum. Americans need to hear what you’re saying, when you are speaking lucidly, i.e., about banking practices.

  60. This show is the best coverage of world economic affairs!
    Brilliant stuff guys…thanks!

  61. Interesting show today .. thanks !

10mins@Stacy … NPT .. yes, that’s my take as well.
Seems like these politicians now tell us bare-faced lies … instead of just simply lying – Sheesh.

@”Populations immediately adopt the situation that their leaders tell them”
… because there are no Journalists on MSM any more .. all too dependant to risk stepping out of the “party” line and bringing critical reports ( which is why we are all here rather than watching MSM News I suppose ).

Intel@Max .. on Intel … another one of those US-Govt. “protected” companies IMO.
( read “Boiling Frogs” and “Intel Inside” and the latest EU fine of 1+ Bio Euros for unfair competition )

M.Moore@Max ca. 27mins … agree, I think he’s just another “consumer” looking to make money fast !

Gladiator@Stacy .. the film “Gladiator” sent the US a good message IMO !

    MIC/Greyson@Stacy .. Haliburton ? .. LOL what a beautiful thought !
…. but I guess that’ll be covered as “Govt. Secrets Act” or some other bullsh*t !
Stacy, I also assumed he was a Rep. simply because he is RP’s strongest supporter.

PPT@Max … I noticed the PPT stopped at the end of 2008 !

Marc.Faber@Stacy .. US Govt. finished in 5 years ? … IMO it was finished after JFK died.

Gambling.Bubble@Max … Yes .. you are and were dead right on that one !
    “US$ lottery ticket” .. great line !
And yes , the “American Mindset” = “Get rich quick” = Gamblers !
You’d have thought they would have had enough “losing” by now with WallStreet gambling !

Mike2L@Stacy … parity with Euro … 2.5 GBP/Euro would be better looking at their (silly) house prices.
    ;-)

2 Trio.Cayman@Stacy .. yes, posted yesterday. Tax the HFs with an extra 1.5% and the Govt. will be rolling in money !
Or even better, let the Govt. go BK and close Cayman .. the HFs will then have to “move” their money .. but where ?
    ;-)

  62. PS@PPT@Max … I noticed the PPT stopped at the end of 2008 !

I guess they’re just NOT reporting it anymore .. or doing it outside somewhere .. like London ?

Random Thoughts…Gallophobia or (Francophobia) etc .1066 The Norman Conquest,The Evolution of the English Language,The Ghost of 1776…I remember listening to melvyn bragg on radio 4 a few years ago (6-8)and as well as making the point about the Norman Conquest not only being a military but linguistic…they made french the official language…not that we ever spoke it…but did import about 10,000 french words into our language…regardless of this and the we have been long time neighbours we still don’t have much in common…culture-wise…(so our dislike goes back and was probably passed on to america)oh yeah the show also mentioned that if you want to know what the english accent and style of language would have sounded like 400 years ago the american (version of) english is probably closest…(frozen in time?)as they have avoided the influence of europe and the other colonies(you know our upper classes are always aping europeans, even now …ok yah)…personally I always thought american sounded like a combination of west country english(point originally sailed from) irish and german but that’s just my ears talking(Ha)…and I’m not even gonna mention Alliumphobia- Fear of garlic..

ps. its hard to know which of melvyn braggs books on the english language to link to as he has written quite a few.

  75. its nice to think we are going to polish up the current financial system to make it accountable… but the last thing I personally want is to fix this system so we can create another century of investors and bankers pillaging the wealth of others.

Its so simple the whole world is in debt… how can that be? the only real source of wealth is the creativity/labour of people this is the only source of wealth therefore how can the source of wealth be in debt? its because of the ability of the entity which they are in debt to to create the thing they are in debt to out of thin air, as we all know but therefore why rearrange the deckchairs on the titanic? who cares its going to sink we need a new financial system where the only thing that can be loaned out is real wealth which has already been created.

In my opinion the framework is already inplace for this system and its called microloaning only currently being used a charity tool but in this process money thats already been earnt by someone is loaned to another and the paid back meaning no wealth destruction on wealth creation namely an upwards spiral.

  76. William of the North

    @max keiser,

Commonwealth. I think you’ve been living in France too long! The point you’re missing is that the government or State is coercive.

I give you the example of Mt. Rushmore (State run, state funds) and the Crazy Horse monument 20 miles away (Privately funded, refused Congress funding twice already).

The difference is that the people have a choice to support Crazy Horse. They didn’t have a choice about Mt. Rushmore.

“When the lights go out there will be nothing…”

American literature, poetry, Jazz, The Met,
architecture ( Frank Lloyd Wright), inventors, painters, photographers, dancers (Isadora Duncan, Martha Graham), captains of industry, great statesman.

Less racism than anywhere in the world.

You created some innovative platforms for co-operative business. By implication, your ideas belong in the rubbish heap too!

This is the most challenging, innovative cultural revolution to occur in this century, and you like “old school” are sitting it out in France.

Max, your accent in French is terrible!

    C’est la vie, mon vieux.

  79. @que
less racism than anywhere else in the world?

  80. It’s naive to believe that the elite policy towards Americans is somehow different from the elite policy towards other nations’ peoples. The elite are dismantling the sovereign nation-state worldwide in preference for a system of trade regions. The people inhabiting the lands will be stacked and packed in sustainable cities without due recourse or the viability of personal agency.

In dissing his country and his fellow countrymen, Max’s arrogance is belied by his vulnerability. France is not the bastion of freedom in a free nwo. The elite will use the police infrastructure to deny the masses the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of personal happiness.

It is ridiculous to ignore the wondrous contributions that Americans have made on the international cultural historical landscape in a quest to scapegoat citizens who are of necessity arming themselves to fight a tyranny unleashed upon the world by European elite interests.

  81. @Jim and Snoots……. You both have nothing but confused, mindless comments to litter this site with.
Do us all a favor and go to a chatroom somewhere…..far ……far….away.

  82. Mr. King:
I do believe you were addressing Snoots, so Snoot would like to prod you with a question. WHY ARE YOU SUCH A BLATANT ASSHOLE.

  83. @Mike King – Excusez-moi? What’s up with all the insults and shouting at the regular users of this site?
