The article was written by John L. Perry, who served on the White House staffs of LBJ and Carter. Perry called for a ‘bloodless’ coup in the US. It would be ‘non-violent’ he said because the US is not a banana republic. And he claims to have inside knowledge that this is what certain military people are presently thinking.
Military intervention is what Obama’s exponentially accelerating agenda for “fundamental change” toward a Marxist state is inviting upon America. A coup is not an ideal option, but Obama’s radical ideal is not acceptable or reversible.
Of course, the reality is that Obama has not actually changed much policy from what Bush had introduced, including a doubling of the deficit, handing trillions to bankers with zero regulation and promise, in fact, of further ‘de-regulation’, an expansion of military adventures and of the police state, etc. The only issue that is slightly different is how they market their hand outs to health insurance companies guised as health care ‘reform.’ Obama has his $1 trillion over ten years for mandatory insurance, Bush had his ‘Medicare’ reform with a price tag at least twice that.
So, if Obama is so like Bush, then why the hysteria now?
I think the increasing number of shrill and panicked charges and wild conspiracies about an ‘illegitimate’ president and now (deleted) op-eds for coup is looking more and more like a page out of the neo-con / Military Industrial Complex handbook. It’s exactly the process they use against other third world leaders (and let’s face it, the US is now fast on the way to becoming one ). I often hear shrieks of Obama being surrounded by ‘radical leftists’ and ‘Marxists’ – the very same propaganda codewords used by the military industrial complex when paving the way for popular support in overthrowing Latin American leaders (think Aristide or Zelaya). Clearly, much of the US population is almost Manchurian in responding to such codewords.
And to the shouters in the town hall ‘radical leftist’ probably means one thing, but, in truth, Obama is surrounded by Goldman Sachs bankers. While Goldman is demonstrably for redistribution of wealth, I hardly think their kind of redistribution qualifies as ‘leftist.’ So while shouters and screechers don’t need evidence just codewords, I have to ask what are the powerful people behind the scenes really thinking? Of course, the MIC gets only about $1 trillion per year, but was always the favoured industry . . . up until Clinton paved the way for a Goldman take over. Maybe the MIC doesn’t like them getting $1.5 trillion? Who knows? But I’m sure it has a lot to do with the conversation about to take place tomorrow with Iran. A few extreme shrills want war and know that time and conversation will allow for evidence and reason to trump emotion and hysteria.
The shouters and screechers would probably welcome a coup (just as in Honduras where a large percentage of the population is for the Micheletti coup) and perhaps think the military will be on the side of their 50% and will only bash and incarcerate the other 50% of the population.
This is what happens when you no longer have a republic, but only a mere democracy.
They can make the population support anything. Anything.

obviously, if the point is the best health care for the best price – you want wholesale pricing not boutique pricing any only an organization as large as the Federal gov’t can negotiate pricing.

A few days ago, I posted a link here to a video about Chavez and the 2002 coup attempt. It showed how the private media and the oligarchs attacked him, lied about him, and delegitimized him before the public–inciting them to take to the streets shouting nonsense about Chavez…. associating him to Mussolini and Hitler, all of it.
When I saw the GOP try to scare Vets by saying that Obamacare would = “death panels” for them, I wondered what the aim was. Same goes for all of irresponsible rhetoric about Obama seeking to undermine the CIA, military, and national defense generally.
I have worried about a coup attempt. But when my mind starts spinning with paranoia of that sort, I try to calm down by telling myself that the right has always gone after Democratic Presidents and sought to smear and destroy them. The only thing that’s different is the level of hysteria and the politicians, themselves, joining in for a round of “delegitimize the President.” From what I can gather, the attacks against Obama most closely resemble the attacks made against FDR. People called him a socialist, said he wasn’t born here, etc. Politicians never did, though, as far as I’m aware.
My bigger concern is that there seems to be a proto-fascist movement (yes, I realize the over-use of “fascism”) afoot that people are not calling out. Beginning with the Presidential campaign, there has been a sharp increase in nationalistic rhetoric regarding religion and the military. Also, rhetoric that advances the notion of “real Americans” has been elevated. Revolutionary rhetoric promoting violence. Check. And we have an entire party that has been “purified” of moderates–indeed, top leaders like Cheney have all out said that there is no place for moderates in the GOP anymore. Anti-intellectualism is on the rise. And now, the thing to do is to take out “left-leaning” organizations one by one. ACORN was first. The new target is the SEIU. When the White House itself bends to irrationality by doing things like putting a notch in the belts of the nuts by getting rid of Van Jones, it only emboldens McCarthyish behavior.

Zimbabwe is a good example – The country was a part of the B Empire – then gained independence – Then became self sufficient and then wayward and did not rely on foreign loans to operate. Mugabee is then financed as oposition to the Ian Smith and gains power – In doing so the country becomes indebted and when mugabee turns and decides to go it alone he is alienated with sanctions until the country is ruined. Then along come the international banks to the rescue and the country assets change hands quietly under the guise of help. Incidently this process occurs in the west in the boom and bust cycle. Each time it happens in the confusion and panic many assets are lost/lives destroyed good businesses and so on. So in summary you are correct democracy had a chance in the Republic of the USA – but the banking oligarchs are winning the control and through the laws they have sneaked in under the cover of stealth or darkness, theres not a lot that can be done.

The United States congress are average citizens employeed by the people. The go to work….. read the never ending paperwork of what to pass what not to pass etc etc etc and go home to a nice cold beer and watch movies. Being a congressman is a job….. a pay check….. they care about the USA and its people with half a heart. The entity and elite government are focused, diligent and rellentless in accomplishing the holy grail of power. In the eyes of the entity the congress is a minor obstacle to side step, lie to, and extorted into accepting whatever is necessary for the completion of the agenda.

Well, I have done it! I have read the entire text of proposed House
Bill 3200: The Affordable Health Care Choices Act of 2009. I studied
it with particular emphasis from my area of expertise, constitutional
law. I was frankly concerned that parts of the proposed law that were
being discussed might be unconstitutional. What I found was far worse than what I had heard or expected.
To begin with, much of what has been said about the law and its
implications is in fact true, despite what the Democrats and the
media are saying. The law does provide for rationing of health care,
particularly where senior citizens and other classes of citizens are
involved, free health care for illegal immigrants, free abortion
services, and probably forced participation in abortions by members
of the medical profession.
The Bill will also eventually force private insurance companies out
of business and put everyone into a government run system. All decisions about personal health care will ultimately be made by federal bureaucrats and most of them will not be health care professionals.
Hospital admissions, payments to physicians, and allocations of
necessary medical devices will be strictly controlled.
However, as scary as all of that it, it just scratches the surface.
In fact, I have concluded that this legislation really has no intention
of providing affordable health care choices. Instead it is a
convenient cover for the most massive transfer of power to the
Executive Branch of government that has ever occurred, or even been
contemplated. If this law or a similar one is adopted, major portions
of the Constitution of the United States will effectively have been
destroyed.
The first thing to go will be the masterfully crafted balance of
power between the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of the
U.S. Government. The Congress will be transferring to the Obama
Administration authority in a number of different areas over the
lives of the American people and the businesses they own. The irony is
that the Congress doesn’t have any authority to legislate in most of those areas to begin with. I defy anyone to read the text of the U.S.
Constitution and find any authority granted to the members of
Congress to regulate health care.
This legislation also provides for access by the appointees of the
Obama administration of all of your personal healthcare information,
your personal financial information, and the information of your
employer, physician, and hospital. All of this is a direct violation
of the specific provisions of the 4th Amendment to the
Constitution protecting against unreasonable searches and seizures.
You can also forget about the right to privacy. That will have been
legislated into oblivion regardless of what the 3rd and
4th Amendments may provide.
If you decide not to have healthcare insurance or if you have private
insurance that is not deemed “acceptable” to the “Health Choices
Administrator” appointed by Obama there will be a tax imposed on you.
It is called a “tax” instead of a fine because of the intent to avoid
application of the due process clause of the 5th Amendment.
However, that doesn’t work because since there is nothing in the law
that allows you to contest or appeal the imposition of the tax, it is
definitely depriving someone of property without the “due process of
law.
So, there are three of those pesky amendments that the far left hate
so much out the original ten in the Bill of Rights that are
effectively nullified by this law. It doesn’t stop there though. The
9th Amendment that provides: “The enumeration in the
Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or
disparage others retained by the people;” The 10th
Amendment states: “The powers not delegated to the United States by
the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are preserved
to the States respectively, or to the people.” Under the provisions of
this piece of Congressional handiwork neither the people nor the
states are going to have any rights or powers at all in many areas
that once were theirs to control.
I could write many more pages about this legislation, but I think you
get the idea. This is not about health care; it is about seizing
power and limiting rights. Article 6 of the Constitution requires the
members of both houses of Congress to “be bound by oath or
affirmation” to support the Constitution. If I was a member of
Congress I would not be able to vote for this legislation or anything
like it without feeling I was violating that sacred oath or
affirmation. If I voted for it anyway I would hope the American
people would hold me accountable.

Barack Obama is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I’ve ever known in my life.
I have to disagree with the assumption here that the corporatism/fascism which has been building in this country as a right wing ideology. History shows that Fascism/Corporatism is a product of socialism, not an extension of capitalism. As we’ve moved farther and farther away from a free market is when we see the rise of Corporatism. Corporatism isn’t a radical form of free market, it is just another face of government control.
Too many believe what their middle school teachers taught them about fascism and communism being the two end of the political spectrum. They are not. They are the same side of the spectrum. One has a few people in control while the other has one person in control. But they are both based on Government control. The two sides of the spectrum are more government control and less government control. Capitalism and a true free market system is on the far right and is based on individual freedom as being supreme. Both Fascism/Corporatism and communism/socialism are on the far left where the individual is secondary to the whole and therefore the state has more control then the individual.
I agree that Bush was awful but I think it was because of his left tendencies to more government control and power.
I’m not advocating a coup. But it is important to understand that the two political parties are basically the same, which want more government control and power.
