PMF updates: Bugs, new projects and promo reels

Stacy Summary: Some updates for you on Pirate Myfilm.  A bug has been fixed that was preventing some from reserving all of 10 copies in each of their ten projects.  We have a new project I have listed below and the director of another has created a promo reel.  New site design updates are coming soon including comment and blog capabilities.  In the meantime . . .

    ..right on man ! he’s not the only one getting strange messages from his refrigerator ,it’s my stove as well. i replaced the toaster but the same thing kept happening . i think this technology thing is really getting out of hand .

    a major bug was fixed on PMF – many members were unable to reserve more than 1 copy of any project (they could not reserve up to the limit of 10 per project). This bug is now fixed

    either way it all comes down to luck with any thing to do with films, i know someone who is 34 [lw] has made 6 low budget films since 2004 ,grossed just over 1 billion dollars outside of studio system and now franchised , this person unsuccessfully shopped his script around ,the last person who turned it down had the door open and a person passing overheard and was interested and offered a significant amount of money which was turned down by L but instead accepted an advance and arranged finance instead as a way of keeping control. in the end everything was luck and an incredible amount of arrogance. there will be a new project starting in my local area soon , was meant to be starting now but looks like march…. ,but this time something a bit different.. $5,000 for a film isn’t much as it may buy you a day doing a low budget rock clip if you re really lucky and can find someone who will do it for that much ,location fees etc or just a bit of imagination even then you’re looking at two weeks post production etc still you can be lucky and hope find people who will work for nothing ,friends etc .interesting to see what people come up with. one of the locals did a low budget claymation type thing and got an academy award , so i after that guess anythings possible.?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Muybridge-2.jpg @stacy , i am all for art as a form of art povera but if you want to do something a bit more it costs money . i have always been a big fan of john waters ,i had a friend who wrote a good script based upon life of C19 th photographer and murderer E Muybridge despite having some initial interest and support from actors like geoffrey rush who said he would do it if financing was available etc went nowhere. most of the people i know in film are tired of making low budget films ,ads , crap rock videos likes of mr cave et al which i suppose leaves things open to next generation those who have a bit more energy with this kind of thing .others who don’t need the money get grants 3m from gov filmcorp etc , i know i am just whinging and whinning ….. that cleaning job is looking good .http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Muybridge_race_horse_animated.gif

    the two quotes I have really enjoyed reading on the site recently…were the one about a drowning man being happy to grab a snake…and the one about not having worry about outrunning a bear if you are being chased by one …but only outrunning the person being chased with you…(schultz???).
    reminded me of a stanley kubrick story…when he was trying to get his first film made…he went to the big studio’s who turned him down, but one studio said if you can get financing…come back we will put out the movie for you and share in the profit…kubrick went back to his father and told him what happened, his father said
    “that is like someone telling you go into the street and find some money on the floor and then come back and share it with them.”

    I was just looking over the funding of the flicks
    Tequila with God is not moving much as of late…
    that sucks… the premise sounds spectacular…

    Nevertheless,
    once the films start getting funded and IF investors start seeing returns,
    this enterprise will start picking up more interest…
    I’m looking forward to the Paraguay footage
    (please don’t get killed or imprisoned M&S… if you can’t get a bodyguard, get a .357 revolver… puts bigger holes in a victim than a .50cal Desert Eagle)
