Boone, speaking to the newly formed Congressional Natural Gas Caucus, complained that the Iraqi government has awarded contracts to foreign companies, particularly Chinese firms, to develop Iraq’s vast reserves while American companies have mostly been shut out.
“They’re opening them (oil fields) up to other companies all over the world … We’re entitled to it,” Pickens said of Iraq’s oil. “Heck, we even lost 5,000 of our people, 65,000 injured and a trillion, five hundred billion dollars.”

I got an idea. Let T.Boone man-up and set him down by Apache helicopter overnight armed to the teeth and with orders to guard a gusher in the desert somewhere East of Baghdad. In fact if he wants it, he’s gotta guard it and protect it from the heathens. Better yet, just strap him onto the frame of a drilling dock, tie him in way high up there so he can get a complete feel for the lay of the land and know how Ahab felt when he was riding the Great White. Let him sizzle and shrink in the sun and quench his thirst and his cries with Iraqi crude fed straight from a straw.

I’m sure we will be “energy self-sufficient” when we no longer have viable industry or infrastructure.
frankly….it’s the chinese who require a manufacturing base and land transportation into the 21st century…that will imitate the western expansion through the use of fossil fuel…sad as it is…I personally would rather see them develop all those hidden alternative fuel sources of energy and fuel ( I rather like algae oil ) that the west and it’s corporations have shelved for far too long…but that’s not my decision…
