    @frances snoot: actually the Queen has a sizable ranch near Sheridan. WY….
    So now another chess piece comes into play…the “national emergency”…I wonder where this may lead as the economy comes into the height of the retail Xmas selling/buying season….I frankly haven’t met anyone who claims to have this version of the flu…and I have been working in a call center…lotsa bacteria and germs abound…

    @dedo , i wouldn’t worry about what a song means , [ you don't want to kill it ]. i don’t know anyone in the music world who has ever tortured themselves with a question like that ,music is more about how it makes us feel , a good song is always more than the person who wrote it . something magical about music ,poem or picture too , i don’t know where they comes from .

    Yes Illya .. that is correct !

    Some of my Polish friends were in Russia a few years ago .. and showed me loads of Mammoth Bones that they’d brought back.

    Interestingly, the oak trees in Russia as especially precious as they are hundreds if a thousand years old … due to the low temperatures that mean they grow VERY slowly.

    The French have a problem with getting hold of new Wine Barrels , as they “mature” French oak is all gone, and the new laws that prevent them from cutting the younger oaks has been passed into law.

    The same Polish frieds also offered me Solid Oak Parkett ( flooring boards ) that were also an inch thick and wanted 10x less money than the German prices here.
    The German equivalent has maybe 4 mm. of aok and 10 mm. of softwood as a base – glued together !
    1 inch = ca. 25 mm. !!

    Part of the natural global warming process that has another 500-1000 years to go – which is another reason why Russia is an “enemy”: all that arable land, all that easy to get to oil, gas, methane, fresh water, gold, etc.

    OK, Wall street bought Congress for $6,5 Billion p.a. Nevertheless, it will be a hard nut to crack to get, I would guess, to get a few trillion in return for not blowing up the system.

    So the buggers needs to make a plan which the serfs, Congress and media cannot and will not refuse.

    A shock and awe plan..which paralises everybody…in return for surrender…

    Your thoughts?

    How is the credit card industry not collapsing? If secured credit in the housing sector is a disaster, then I would expect unsecured credit to be worse. People with foreclosures on their credit ratings have nothing to lose abandoning credit cards. Although maybe credit rating fear is keeping some people in debt.

    I’m still blown away over that Frontline episode from tuesday about Brooksley Born. That Alan Greenspan or anyone would presume that markets would handle fraud effectively still has me blown away. If markets did respond to American mega-bank fraud, the world would stop doing business with American banks. Such a collapse would be well deserved but not what the maestro had in mind I’m sure.

    That episode is gonna generate a lot more light than heat I hope. The Financial Sense News Hour covered it big time. Let’s hope it starts a fire under the public’s ass.

    I’m in Orange County, CA right next to that big church Obama and McCain debated at first. I don’t really pay attention to local news but I am watching the local real state market. People are pretty delusional here, expecting things to go back to the booming 2005s in a few months.

    The immediate OC area near me is an island in an otherwise poor and unemployed sea of Californians. You would have no idea theres a recession on. I need to escape! But I don’t know where to go. Do you recommend Paris, France for everyone? I would like to live in a walkable, Andres Duany – Jim Kunstler approved walkable city. Theres a topic for you guys, making escape plans. =D
