Does the group affect the pattern-development of the syntax and lexicon accepted as the standard. Does the economic system influence the prevalance of certain word selections? I think it is interesting that the Derridian theory of the sign appeared almost at the same time that the US went of the gold standard and Bretton Woods collapsed.
