    I’m curious why Kristeva claims the chora can be regulated seeing as she declares it defies axiomatic definition. Perhaps she is referring to the semiotic eruption of play called music. The chora here is a word derived from Plato, but does not refer to his nebulous female treastice. Here Kristeva touches the essence of the feminine: the voice of Ophelia, that which penetrates reason and then flees the chamber. Here is Faulkner’s easy description:

    The long silence of notpeople in notlanguage–the notlanguage resonates across the silent chasm of chronology, as Derrida describes:

    “In the order of time, or rather like time itself, they (the seasons) speak the movement by which the presence of the present separates from itself, supplants itself, replaces itself by absenting itself, produces itself in self-substitution” (pg 309 Of Grammatology).

    The movement of the chora does not attempt to capture: it is the essence of release. Kristeva is correct in asserting that reason cannot define the chora, and yet it is also true that reason can never deny her existence.

    We know.

    I have a video of a massive tanker ( 300 m. long ) being sunk in the Atlantic by one wave in 2-3 seconds. The video was taken by RAF crew, and they were talking to the caption as the wave hit. The wave hit over the bow ( lengthways ), and the ship was gone in seconds.

    Note that the modern form of BitTorrent uses UDP, not TCP — as TCP can be shut down via a classical “man in the middle attack”…

    Any threat to the existing P2P networks will lead to cration of client systems that make Oneswarm seem like a cheezy botheration scheme.

    I am amazed that there has not been a call for the creation of UDP based HTTP/HTTPS … and for FTP, etc …

    @ Bonn – What’s ridiculous is Hillary Clinton proclaiming that the runoff will be “unaffected” by Abdullah’s withdrawal. In what world does it make sense to her that people would vote for a candidate who withdrew on the claim that the election would still be rigged? The pathetic thing is that the entire runoff is a sham, the whole world knows it, yet the international community is spending another couple hundred million dollars on another sham election, anyway.

    I predict some major violence in Afghanistan this week.

    Stacy, the stat you quote about 401(k) plan participants with balances under $ 1,000 cashing out is inaccurately presented [you're cooking in my kitchen]. Employers who sponsor those plans may [under pension law here] force a taxable cash out to terminated participants whose vested balance is under $ 1,000 to keep the plan’s census numbers [and admin expenses] down – this addresses your comment about such amounts. Balances over $1,000 and
    $ 5,000 can be transferred without consent from the plan to an IRA, balances over $5,000 of terminated participants are not subject to the two former cash outs.
