i find it so hard to understand what the hell is going on, considering if you watch what is happening on any major television networks. they are insisting that the economy is recovering, and that because the dow is going up, soon jobs will too! yet, when i watch max keiser, who admits that at one time he was plugged into the whole charade, says that the economy is not going to recover as we expect it to. he puts blame upon the major banks in the united states, and upon the administration of obama and bush for the lack of recovery and the movement of wealth from the poor to the rich. is max jilted? some may say that. did he have a religious experience that opened his eyes to the mess that derivatives would have upon the real economy? whats his story? why did he start rooting for the little guy?

I listened for about 15 minutes and it’s great that people are studying ecosystems – but there wasn’t any specific mention of CO2 and climate change – and certainly no data shown. (I’d watch the full video if given a clue where the good bits are.)
Right now the debate is about ruling in or out CO2 as the main driving factor of climate change since that’s what would be easiest for us to control.
Unfortunately, the case has not yet been made for CO2-driven change with science, only with faith and computer models – and science is about testing hypothesis against evidence. We need to try harder until we’ve got a better understanding. If we don’t want to solve this scientifically, then we have a whole gamut of creative means to halt climate change as we perceive it: praying, chanting, sacrifices… etc. This is how past people’s sought control of a chaotic environment and I’m sure it eased their worries to be ‘doing something’.
The fact the legislation is being rushed through should concern us because the legislation is aimed at limiting/rationing/controling/licencing economic production – in very a broad way. How are we to make a swift transition to a sustainable ecology/economy when shackled with irrational controls?
Focus on what you can prove or disprove with evidence. Given the stakes, it is too much of an ask to act based soley on faith or the precautionary principal. We’re better and more able than that.

The total amount of oil burned into the atmosphere could fill the mediterranian sea.
Releasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is like dropping ink in a swimming pool and being able to clean it out only from the sides (above the biosphere there is about 30 km of CO2 reservoir that seldom circulates). You can see that even if you clean only from the sides (however you do it), the pool will go darker if you keep adding ink, and stay dark a long time.

The German workers are up in arms about the nullification of the Magna deal and are going to protest.
Seems to me they were very happy with the new deal, and don’t want their old masters back … which I can understand .
The general opinion here is that Opel has been milked for it’s profits and R&D by the mother company , and would do far better on it’s own – to which I also agree.
The Govt. gave Open 1.5 Bio. Euros short-term loan due to the Magna deal – half of which as already been spent. Another 4.5 Bio. Euros was assured based on the Magna deal going through.
BTW .. some months ago, it was said that GM owed Opel ca. 2 Bio.$ in unpaid R&D invoices AFAIK ! Haven’t heard about that since then !
