  1. a good promo. Watching ‘the news’ it never ceases to amaze how cowardly and constantly fearful Americans are after each mass postal killing. As if they cannot think. As if they cannot put 2+2 together. A country chock full of guns and promotional violence, deeply alienated population of serfs, constant states of War on others, and the whole karma of killing 100s of thousands of Arabs, god forbid a terrorist should get loose here? Why can’t they protect me? Why I say? I’m so scared Mommy! I think I saw a dark, turbanned man beneath the toilet seat late last night.!!! I’m so scared. Will someone come and save me? Why is our dollar falling??? Alan Greenspan was supposed to protect me. Oh no! You mean he made a mistake? But wasn’t he a genius Mommy?

  4. @youri . i have little sympathy for anyone who willingly joins a war ,especially something as nebulous as declaring war on a ‘noun ‘such as ‘terror ‘. people either know what they are getting into or they don’t. my guess is that some people just cann’t wait to find out what it s like to kill someone and just cann’t wait to get to use all that gadgetry and weaponry . in the military there is a big gap between those who have killed and those who haven’t killed . it’s almost like a form of apartheid ,you are no one until you have killed . in america apparently the ‘ cult of the veteran ‘even extends to that of fireman ,at least they are useful. .

  5. @ L, X — greeting comrade! I have the answer for you:

In the past a Veteran used to be treated as an war hero but today they are a special target from the government as stated in police instruction manuals.

Also the miliairy is used as guiny pig for experimental vaccins and deliberate shot up with long term deadly vaccins so that they needly die so the government doesn’t have to pay their pensions.

So think twice if your planning to join the military criminal complex!

  10. why we should care . in war it is often said that acts of bravery are often seen by soldiers as acts of stupidity and any true act of bravery is to be avoided at all costs . bravery is replaced by acts of cruelty and cowardice , cruelty especially towards those who are truely defenseless, such as the elderly, woman, children, animals . acts of cruelty towards those who are truly defenseless are seen as being truly Brave . this is one of the main reasons why veterans do not like to talk about something called ‘the war .’ or their experiences. statistically it is proven that in a war zone you are safer in a uniform than as a civilian ,young or old ,yet the veneration or’ cult ‘of the ‘ veteran ‘ or ‘returned war vet ‘or ‘hero ‘ at the expense of everyone else or humanity continues .

The Salmon used in Fish Nurseries for consumption is a much diffirent one than the Wild Salmon. It’s much fatter and not as strong. Here in northen Europe it already happened that some of these weak Nurcery spieces escaped from their cages and mingeled with the Wild Salmon.

But maybe there are other causes to like maybe the pollution from the Chem trailing like Barium Titanate Salt mixtures , coming into the rivers etc.

  14. @Youri,
I don’t think salmon used for farming are a different breed from wild salmon, are they? But I agree entirely farming salmon is an environmental nightmare – breeding disease in an enclosed, stressed population, consuming fish protein as feed, destroying the local environment with waste…

Me: It’s known already for years now that escaped fat salmon mingels with the Wild Salmon and deteriorate it’s genes. Genetic Manipulation from companies like MONSANTO are the biggest treat to humanity!

So stop backing up these ridiculous CO2 claims and get to the real deal before it’s to late! The CO2/Global warming/ Climate Change debate is a big distraction and a waist of money only to prop up the NWO pockets from environmental criminals like Al Gore, Rockefellows and RothChilds!

  18. The U.S. Federal Reserve’s balance sheet grew slightly in the latest week on increased holdings of government and mortgage agency debt, Fed data showed on Thursday.

The Fed’s balance sheet liabilities — a broad gauge of its lending to the financial system — rose to $2.147 trillion on Wednesday from $2.144 trillion a week ago.

The Fed’s holding of Treasuries rose to $776.51 billion on Wednesday from $774.56 billion a week ago. The increase occurred despite the U.S. central bank’s completion last week of a program to purchase Treasuries.

The Fed’s ownership of agency securities, or debt issued mainly by Fannie Mae (FNM.N), Freddie Mac (FRE.N) and the Federal Home Loan Bank System, climbed to $146.96 billion on Wednesday from $141.60 billion a week earlier.

  29. @ Chris – The first person who said that Hasan was dead was Commander Lt. Gen Bob Cone. My suspicion is that the announcement was either meant to entrap potential accomplices or to avoid hospital mishaps (e.g. Hasan dying on the operating table b/c people didn’t feel like trying to save him).

I’d attribute the other “assailants” to rapid media reporting. The others were immediately called “shooters” by one organization, and that spread to other networks. At one point, there was one shooter (the Major) in custody, another reportedly held up in the commissary–which was surrounded by SWAT, and a third shooter out on the loose. All kinds of things were being reported, even a separate shooting inside of the soldiers’ dormitories, which never happened. As people were being interviewed on live TV, some did refer to the additional shooters as “suspects.” It was never explained what made them suspects, but there was later reporting that hundreds of people had been interviewed and just a few detained for further questioning. Could be that the “suspects” were people who hung around with Hasan.

I think the biggest problem is the media’s desire to paint this guy as a “jihadist warrior” and a radical Muslim. Some sources are quoting comments he made online about suicide bombers being no different than soldiers who throw themselves on grenades to save their comrades (of course, they don’t offer the full context of such statements). There’s videotape of him at the 7-11 earlier in the day wearing traditional Muslim garb also circulating.

If I had to guess, I’d bet that the major saw this as his only way out, and believed he was doing the others “a favor” by taking them out. He didn’t want to go to Iraq or be put in the position of killing fellow Muslims. He tried to get out of the military, but couldn’t. Without excusing him for what he did, it’s rather easy to imagine how a psychiatrist who treated soldiers at Walter Reed with traumatic stress, and who frequently heard fellow troops make extremely derogatory comments about Muslims, could turn hard against the wars and finally snap when faced with deployment to ground zero of Muslim-killing.

I hope that this tragedy will force people to really think hard about what we’re doing overseas and about the extreme level of stress that we’re putting on our troops. We only have 1 mental health professional per every 750 troops. Suicides are up from last year. Most troops have faced 2-3 deployments. And these wars have gone on longer than any other wars we’ve asked our troops to take part in.

I’m glad that the major is still alive. The media will have a much harder time spinning his actions with him being alive to tell us what was really going through his mind.

Its sole co-sponsor was Rep. Ron Klein (Dem. FL).

Connie Mack is a notorious right-wing ideologue. In an accompanying statement he said:

“The evidence linking Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez to the FARC and Hezbollah – two of the most dangerous terrorist organizations, responsible for many bombings, kidnappings, killings and drug trafficking – is overwhelming. A Detailed Look At Goldman’s CDS Holdings And How CDS Trading Has Become The Squid’s Multi-Billion Cash Cow

A Goldman CDS flow trader will traditionally make markets, for example in company XYZ, where he will give the (5 year) market as 500/530 bps, meaning buyers will put on new CDS at a spread of 530, while sellers will offload and/or short positions at 500 bps. By running traditionally balanced books, Goldman’s flow trader is able to extract a 30 bps spread on any block of matched buys and sells. On $1 billion of notional traded CDS (which is much less than the firm does daily), with a DV01 of about $400k, if Goldman can unwind its CDS book daily to natural buyers and sellers, it can make $12 million simply by taking advantage of the spread ($400k (DV01) x 30 bps). At an average CDS block trade size of $25 million, Goldman’s hundreds of salespeople need to just call up 40 accounts to trade in size and make the firm a risk-free $12 million. In days of volatility, Goldman can easily trade over $10 billion in notional equivalent. Again assuming a 30 bps spread, which the 85 Broad firm has basically guaranteed itself for life, courtesy of monopolizing the CDS market with just itself, and JPMorgan providing any relevant CDS inventory, Goldman can easily make $120 million daily, merely from trading CDS on a risk free agency basis.

  95. Janet Tavakoli: More Goldman

    From Janet this afternoon…..

I apologize to Goldman Sachs’ CFO David Viniar. He did not lie when he said that Goldman’s direct credit exposure with AIG was hedged in the event AIG collapsed. He only addressed direct AIG credit risk.1 On September 16, 2008, he may merely have been unimaginative about risk to Goldman as a result of AIG’s potential bankruptcy partly brought on by stress created by billions in collateral payments already made—and the billions in additional collateral owed—to Goldman Sachs (and other CDS counterparties). Systemic risk is a matter of public interest. Viniar apparently did not intentionally give the impression that Goldman was disinterested when it came to AIG’s bailout.

  106. Did India Ignite A Global Central Bank Bidding War For Gold?

**All eyes are on China now (and to a lesser extent, Russia and the Arab Gulf States), to see how it will respond to the suprise news about India’s large gold purchase, as it was largely expected that China would be the one to take on the IMF gold that is for sale**

William Pesek at Bloomberg News wrote an interesting commentary about the 200 ton IMF gold purchase by India. It is interesting because one of the propositions asserted by long-time gold market analysts has been that eventually Central Banks globally would go from being net sellers of gold to being competitive net buyers as they seek refuge from the wealth destruction caused by fiat currency printing presses, specifically Bernanke’s electronic printing press “that allows [the U.S.] to produce as many U.S. Dollars as it wishes at essentially no cost” (Banana Ben, 11/21/2002).

And now comes this mess (we will allow, we guess, that it is part of a larger group of weird profiles) in America’s most prestigious daily journal. Again it is nearly impossible to overstate the significance of this next signpost as we chart the blithering degeneracy of the monetary elite’s shredded messaging in the face of nearly insurmountable problems. Once upon a time, the monetary elite OWNED the media. If the monetary elite wanted to blame one of its fairly-manufactured monetary crises on banking or private industry or greedy accountants, it could do so and there was no one who would demure. There was in fact, no way to provide another opinion short of shooting off intemperate letters to the editor that never got published. But today it is different.

Today, the Internet provides thinking people everywhere in the Western world with a forum for discussion that has led to a rediscovery of age-old ideas about free-markets and freedom generally that had for generations been suppressed by the elite’s ironclad control over Western media. And anyone who wishes to can go on line and read thousands, nay, millions of articles about these issues – and most certainly about the economic crisis.

If “They” allowed the £ to “TOB” then Brown & his government are finished. “They” require a few more favours from him yet…..before he goes to Goldman Sacs. Now we know “They” want carbon taxes & “THEY” need Brown @ Copenhagen to sign on the line.

Max has seen this already years ago … as I have as well if I may say. I stopped “investing” some 4-5 years ago when I realized that the whole game is rigged. 156. An interesting proposal, but I don’t know Max. I don’t think there is enough energy on Planet Earth to power such a device if it gets passed out to everyone in the Obama administration, the Fed and Congress.

I think an environmental impact study is in order here before moving forward. A field test should be conducted first. I propose that Al Gore should have one of these devices surgically implanted in a bodily cavity, and data should be collected to determine the feasibility of such a device and the impact on Global Warming.

  157. @Phil…this line from ticker post goes exactly to Max’s point…

IF the economy was truthfully improving we wouldn’t need any of these schemes. Honest profits would be sufficient to both support the housing and stock market. The fact is those honest profits simply do not exist, and neither does the value of these “assets” support the loans outstanding against them.

IF the government gave a damn about these homeowners they would instead reset the loan to the discounted cash amount of that market rent and re-write the loan at that same 31% of the homeowner’s income. Of course that would force recognition of the fact that the property isn’t worth anywhere near what the loan balance is, and thus force Fraudie and Phoney to EAT the bad paper they’re holding.

Scam scam scam scam scam – it’s all good for the banks and oligarchs, while the average American is dispossessed of his house!

  160. Debt seem to be the biggest problem facing many Western countries

Re Ellen Brown (Web of Debt). She suggest nationalising the banks

This is one solution but how difficult is it to reduce Govt debt.

Could the Govt issue a 100 year interest free say 1 – 10 trillion Govt bond to the Fed (or in England the BOE) in exchange for cash (or credit) and use this to repay debt.

This money would end up in the banks but Govt debt would be massively reduced (except for this interest free bond). Part could be used also to help people repay private debt in a fair acceptable way. Say by a long term interest free low yearly repayment loan.

Can something like this be done or is there a reason why not.
