Rock, Scissors, Paper, Gold

Stacy Summary: If rock is smashing the system via either an uprising by the people or another banker smash and grab; scissors is slashing government spending, which would mean a withdrawal from Iraq, Afghanistan, Japan, Germany, S. Korea, etc & an end to the banking welfare state; paper is dollars, derivatives and debt; and gold is the end of present fiat currency system.

  1. shit i hope it’s gold. i have literally bet a farm on it.

  2. Paper, gold is solid/remains in value but at the end of the day; the system is rules are set by fractional reserve banking and speculators.

What’s most worrying about that chart on future production estimates for 2030, is that more than half the volumes (50m barrels per day) are purely speculative (reserves yet to developed, fields yet to be found, fuel types yet to be imagined even!).

That means that the estimates contain 50% REAL oil production capability and 50% margin of error (i.e. wishful thinking).

  11. USD Index Is Meaningless, So Stop Watching It

These are the components of the index:

    US Dollar Index (USD)

The U.S. Dollar Index® is computed using a trade-weighted geometric average of six currencies. The six currencies and their trade weights are:

    Euro 57.6 %
    Japan/yen 13.6 %
    UK/pound 11.9 %
    Canada/dollar 9.1 %
    Sweden/krona 4.2 %
    Switzerland/franc 3.6 %

I have no idea what this index measures, but it sure as hell doesn’t measure trade, investment or speculative flows.

It is a measure of itself only. Like dog shit, pick the currency which smells the best today to bet on. This index is a “snap” to manipulate so beware going “short” the dollar using this index or its derivatives.

PS: In the long run gold will bury all fiat currencies and those who love paper.

PPS: The video of CA idiots refusing to “buy” and ounce of gold for $50 or even $5 is proof that there is no “gold bubble.”

Only when they have to pay $1,000,000 for a 750 sq ft shack do they start quacking.

Remember Max’s traders maxium, “You don’t feed the ducks until they start quacking.” I think gold will have to get really high, like $5,000 the ounce before the ducks begin to notice and quack.

  12. Gold has alrealdy won. What’s the use and the purpose and the benefits of buying bonds ? The interest rates on the paper don’t pay you for the HUGE risks related to paper. Inflation risk but also default risk. With physical gold or physical silver, which is my preferred, you only have the risk of price fluctuation. And as note Jim Rogers, commomoties or precious metales (like silver with 200 industrial and high tech applications), they never go down to zero. It can happen with paper. Non it happens every minute and every second. Certificates of confiscation are also in a méga bulle. Bulle bull. We are in mega bubble in bonds. Not the case with physical gold or silver.

  18. “The latest rise in price reflects the significance of gold as part of the world’s monetary reserves.
The immediate cause of the rise was a purchase of 200 tonnes of gold bullion by the Reserve Bank of India from the International Monetary Fund. The Indian purchase is quite large in terms of the gold market, but not particularly large in terms of the Indian reserves. India’s reserves now amount to $277 billion, of which this new purchase of gold amounts to only $6.7 billion.”

The significance of gold is that the Indian government was able to draw on gold with their new sdr allotment to convert their useless Treasuries to hard assets. What interest rate is being charged the Indian government by the IMF for the diminished allotment? Money out of the sdr allotment=interest paid to the IMF.

Why does the learn-ed writer ignore the sdr manipulations?

What is the IMF using their gold sales to increase? SDR allotment interest payments!

Remember the G20 ‘finance ministers’ that met in Scotland are the sitting governors of the IMF for each represented country. How cozy!!!

Gold will in the end come out on top. However there will be a correction soon. The central banks will start to flood the market with gold again to keep the price down and to prop up the dollar. I wouldn’t be shocked if within 6 months Gold falls to under 1,000 US Dollars in the short term.

It’s absolutely ridiculous that the writer of the TimeOnline article ignores the sdr-manipulations ongoing in relation to India’s gold ‘purchase’. Whom is William Rees-Mogg protecting? Isn’t it true that the man would be out of a job if he reported the real story?

“William Rees-Mogg has had a distinguished career with The Times and The Sunday Times. 45. @dan valley

They all talking about “there has been so much money put into the system” but what system? Not the real economy cause not of this “system money” is getting into the real economy where it could flow and create Inflation.

Instead now money is getting into the real economy cause banks won’t lend with at the same time a massive money destroying force created by defaulting Credit cards, mortages, companies and smaller banks. This destroys money while no new money is comming in.

Mish and I am right and there it is exactly Schiff and others mis the point. Wat Peter Schiff calls inflation is in fact DEPRECIATION of the dollar caused by the lack in trust as reserve currency globaly so this has nothing to do with the money supply.

Inflation will start when the world discovers they are holding an empty green bag and start dumping it. Than we will have a very short but massive Hyper-Inflational period which will drive the dollar to zero around 2012.

    So, Deflation->Inflation->Deflation

Yes, well, our small businesses have been choked to death by regulations, taxes, and credit denial. US is a nation with a significant portion GNP derived from small business operations. US deferred the earlier mandates: imo– a bid to strengthen EU banking structure.

Gold is incredibly scarce, those that have it have some savings. That is all.

  95. Classic Pravda

Twenty Years after the Fall of the Berlin Wall, the EU is a Reincarnation of the Former Soviet Union
there are so many similarities between the old Soviet Union and the EU that mere coincidence is unlikely. Bukovsky argues the EU was designed to be like the old USSR. The architects of the EU? Mostly social democrats, whom Stalin quite aptly called “Social Fascists.”

Most Europeans have not yet understood this. Most are still indifferent, but their indifference will soon vanish when the full weight of repressive EU policies and EU taxation doing its destructive work will be felt.

Sooner than anybody now thinks, the only way to vent criticism of the EU will be in the form of jokes. No doubt many of the characteristic old Soviet jokes will be dusted off and given an anti-European Commission twist.

By that time, all Europeans except for the privileged class of “eurocrats” will be prisoners in the EU. However, they will certainly have a wonderful Constitution.

  104. @NicAbbot:
You are aware that the IMF is setting up a new financial regulatory order through the G20 power structure? Your neighbor is right. The use of controls on necessary resources, like water, to thereby control the common man is the crux of the new order. Currency, as in tangible and hard, will be obsolete for exchange in the new world order.

  105. @will
I’m also concerned about finger fatigue with all that typing :^ )

(and i don’t know how to put in those cute professional looking smilies!)

  106. I gues to resist would be even better than to buy gold..

While the US seems to want to fight its war close to China, with 22,000 troops in south Korea, 40,000 extra in Afganistan, Isreal nuclear trigger happy (remember the recent nuclear threat against the palestinians), Chavez is gearing up against the US power concentration in Colombia and the BRIC and Europe and the middle east are trying to pull the US oil plug (and the US is already 50% down because of Saudi refusal to deliver). This is not going to end well, maybe tasmania is a good place to be..

  107. @Joe:
The link you provided, what is the blogger’s intent? He neglects to make mention of the international players in finance, the IMF/BIS conglomerate, or the impetus to manage risk availability in the interests of these same monied players. The ‘man behind the curtain’ is surely laughing.

  108. @marietta – smilies etc.

I wish I could figure out how to create an account here!

  109. @marietta

Not yet, gonna watch it this evening TnX!

Now I think back, we had the Dutch version of this book on the shelf, at my parents home. It always has intrigued me that book. Didn’t know they made a movie about it. Now I know.

  110. @marietta – old laptop file recovery

I wrote a post detailing how you could take out the hard drive and connect it to a USB adaptor, something you should be able to do for about $20, but it got eaten. I don’t understand why some posts just disappear, but there must be some type of filter. This site has mysteries, Bermuda Triangles, and black holes!
