Regardless of whether or not co2 is a problem for the environment, ther are much better ways of dealing with it than creating a new generation of derivatives and fraud for Wall St via carbon credits.
All mother earth have to do is hiccup and game over.
prepare for 2012
Max and Stacy:
1). I love your web site and the timely info you provide. That said, I fear the Peter Principle is unintentionally at work here. You are EXPERT in the banking, and brokerage fields. Professionally, I would be self-satisfied with that.
Here’s the problem: You are buying into (unintentionally) the latest “Emporer’s New Clothes”.
To avoid wasting your time, I’ll leave the following statements unproven here, since the proof is available if you really look for it.
1). Carbon Dioxide is always beneficial, and if anything, there is a worldwide shortage of it. It is *Not* a pollutant in any way. It is a basic building block of Life. I don’t care who says it is. The little boy who exposed the King as Naked was 12 years old if memory serves. He was STILL right.
2). Belarus physicists have basically stated that “Western-Style Containment Buildings” would not have helped Chernobyl, in that the second explosion (4 secs after the first), was “Nuclear” in nature. So, western style Nuclear power plants are only protected against minor (3 mile island prior to criticality) problems. No Containment Building can be built to handle a Major Problem such as was Chernobyl.
Therefore, only intrinsically safe Nuke Plants should be built.
3). It would be just as silly for Al Gore to want to ban water, since it is the most important Greenhouse Gas – (btw methane is #2, and co2 is a distant third). Since Al Gore invented the Internet (He keeps saying he did anyway), if we drain the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, I’m sure Al Gore is smart enough to get rid of the water.
4). Co2 in the atmosphere LAGS a previous temperature change historically by 800 years, as proven by ALL the ICE CORE samplings. Al Gore correctly states in “An Inconvenient Truth” that “The relationship between Co2 and Temperature is Complicated”, but he doesn’t mention this complication. This complication is smoke-screened by “unscientists” as being the result of “CO2 Forcing” – an unprovable baffle with bullshit construct.
5).. The Chinese are doing us all a favor by effectively building a new Coal-Fired plant every 3 weeks (net effect including demolishing of older inefficient plants). New plants capture 98% of the Sulfur Dioxide (a real nuisance – unlike the Totally Beneficial CO2), and capture 90% of the trace mercury in the Coal, for recyling. The Most Environmentally – Friendly Power Plant / City combination would be Coal Fired plants combined with plenty of tree-lined streets and boulevards. LA wouldn’t have a smog problem if they had had the foresight to plant more trees, and had implemented effective car emission controls and coal fired electric cars decades earlier. Every $1 spent on trees and arborists nets a city on average $3.25 of environmental benefits. Besides eating carbon dioxide (actually a cost, as noted), they clear the air of almost everythng coming from cars and TIRES (rubber runoff is a BIG pollutant). Tree leaves take care of the air, and roots clean the rubber filled water runoff.
Keep up the good work. Since the money-center banks and their owners are continuing their 500 year project of impoverishing the rest of us, please keep focused on that goal. I’m sure you realize cap and trade is merely Goldman-Sachs et al’s attempt to globally Tax Sunshine.
My prediction.
The trials of the “911 criminals” are going to be used as a stage for another “terrorist attack”.
The black gold is controlled by the mideast mafias.
I say we go to Nuclear Energy in the U.S. which I notice you never mention, if you have I take it back.
If the concern is the waste, there is technology that is being worked on to neutralize the waste.
In the very country that Max and Stacy live, France uses close to 80% Nuclear Power to light the country.
For now it is a better alternative than coal or that matter fossil fuel.
THREE CHEERS FOR EDUARDO!!!
Climate change
In my view we should try to understand what is really happening in our planet, Do our part to not pollute and to restore our environment.
Will be more productive to know what the real causes of climate change are and adapt.
Today, in Alaska, you will find layers of tropical land.
If we had lived at the time could we stop climate change?
Another example: Imagine that early men decided to prevent climate change in primitive African savanna rather than migrating to the north …
Today we would be extinct.
We must do our part in not destroying, in recovering and adapting to inevitable changes.
To save the planet is a stupid utopia. Survival involves more adaptation than intervention.
Max you are right to promote sustainability:
– Do not defecate in the room (not pollute the environment)
– Quickly reduce oil dependence
We need to beware of:
– CO2 is not pollution
– Carbon trade will be a mess
– Global Governance is a bad idea (Chairpersons appointed by the bankers)
Local Governments should encourage:
– Local solutions to the environment.
– Innovation and research in renewable energy
In any case:
– Maintain individual freedoms
@Giuseppe Bagoshite
yes, but… technocracy is rule of engeniers, scientist, and so on… what is kind of formal education.
“What school you got?”
“None.”
“Get lost!”
Yet Technological Unemploymet will give us all time & resources to self-study anything… without formal university paper.
you are right, but people missunderstand the term, so such blury terms should be avoided, to avoid self interpretation, which leads to missunderstandig.
kind of we almost had

What about the worst environmental problems? Plastics, drugs, GM foods. Why carbon dioxide ……… we are causing far greater problems that are just ignored.
Over population is at the heart of all of the problems.
@nutti
I’m really curious what a nicotine buzz/high is like without all that other gunk you inhale when you smoke a ciggie… is it like caffeine???
@developero
TECHNOCRACY is, in effect, Technological Unemployment…
The Venus Project is espousing the same spiel under a different heading…
You don’t need to work under such a system since most of humanity’s current employment would be redundant or unnecessary… It’s all about technological QUALITY
and energy requirements…
@Supergeek
I’m still weed-free… and saving cash by not smoking tobacco to boot!!! (US$3.50 for 10ml of Nicotine Juice from China vs.CDN$40 for Tobacco!!!!! That’s a lot of Jr. McChickens and Beer)
Of course, the Canuck Gov’t won’t be happy since I am not paying any death-taxes for the Poor-man’s Crack…
@maxkeiser.com
I hope your intention was to get the climate discussion thingy out of the way first???

Okay, sorry for another comment. But please please keep this show going. It’s great to get feedback.
More Max & Stacey is always a good thing.
hey Max
why don’t you get Matt Simmons on your tv show to talk about cantarell, gawar and such?
or maybe you hate the explosion engine so much that you don’t want to hear about liquid nh3 ?
use NH3 instead of gasoline in your car! ( liquid ammonia & wind turbines in Maine )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5feSGZN_Zx0
oh no!! the explosion engine won’t die as fast as Max would like!
Marc
Youri,
It doesn’t matter if the FRACTION of CO2 absorbed has or hasn’t changed. What matters is the total content of CO2 in the atmosphere, which continues to go up, and has been on a parabolic curve (quickly becoming exponential) since the industrial revolution.
Similarly, the fraction of people born who eventually die is not changing, but the total number of people is.
It sound like you are arguing that CO2 sinks (eg. the oceans) are still doing a fine job of removing CO2 and have not exhausted their capacity yet. OK, if that’s true then it means the day of reckoning when this does happen is coming soon and when we reach it, the C02 levels will take off faster than the price of gold after Ben B. is seen getting into his helicopter.
@Giuseppe Bagoshite
hehe, good rant.
2 things.
Yes, we need revolution, but REVOLUTION OF THE MIND
No, Tehnocracy is not the answer, but TEHNOLOGICAL UNEMPLOYMENT is the answer where we work less for more and better goods
cheers mate!
Peak Oil, Peak Gold, Peak Ignorance…
Actually… Ignorance is probably an unlimited resource…
it will never peak…
because there will always be someone less cognizant than myself…
There’s a story circulating amongst the Canuck Ass-Munching Turd-Tokers postulating that CHINA is now MAKING SNOW in the atmosphere…(weren’t they making rain for the olympics to clean the air pollution?)
This reminds me of the hub-bub over H.A.A.R.P. (which the yankee military sold off)
If science can fuck with the weather, then LET IT!!!
Sure, there will be hiccups and maybe several devastating atmospheric anomalies along the way, but THAT is climate change one can believe in… not just jibber-jabber…
Carbon-Trading… YAWN!!!!
the greatest businesses are always the LATEST FRAUDS…
Do you honestly believe that Carbon Taxes will be put to the use they are purported to be for?
I have some great Penny stocks, ready to explode, for you to buy if that’s the case, and maybe a bridge or 3…
Snake-oil salesmen used to be a great occupation…
Max was a Stock-broker at the beginning of the last 25 year bull market
Now you, too, can trade carbon credits and take a commission for your NON-service in this fantasy economy that in the end WILL SOLVE NOTHING…
Nor produce anything of actual qualitative value…
Learn to grow FOOD…
Talk about Exxon going out of business… Keep your eyes on the major GOLD producers… they are TOO BIG TO SUCCEED in an economy based on finite resources…
bye bye BARRICK…
The Junior Producers are the NEXT WAVE…
Redefine Culture? Fuck it…
REVOLUTION is required… surgical violence, if necessary…
TECHNOCRACY is the future…
The only viable and untried, progressive, anti-political movement…
Max’ dream of a gold based economy is anachronistic…
A temporary fix to a greater socio-philosophical illness…
Of course, Max will be happy since he has more gold up his schving schving than Jim Rogers has in his Dick Cheney-approved Man-safe…
BBS’ ??? HAHAHAhahaha I WAS THERE…
I was a PHREAK (research that one)
Cult of the Dead Cow, 2600, PHRACK and a slew of other newsletters were the key to underground communication back in the 80′s
The Anarchist’s Cookbook was the BIBLE…
Now it’s all so easy…
I used to be L33T with my 14.4 SupraModem…
(which I tweaked to get that extra 20-60 Bps with the s11 set for high-speed war-dialing purposes)
Then the phone companies brought in the ESS and DSS networks with the advent of public internet access which essentially became the death knell of THAT culture…
And with the seeming direction of land-lines going down, I have doubts we’ll ever see a resurgence of them…
Although, perhaps we could use Short-wave Radio for BBS communication in the event of an Interwebz Armageddon?
Granted, that’ll be slower than 1200 baud, for sure…
Meanwhile, my E-cig from China is kicking ass… I love the Nicotine without the CARBON SMOKE…
No stupid patches, gum, or over-priced inhalers…
Do I get a credit via crap’n'trade ?
Or do I just get the health benefit from not polluting my lungs (nor my mouth… I can actually TASTE food with greater acuity)
I never realized that a Jr. McChicken actually had a SPICY edge to it… (I buy one every couple weeks to reward myself as a successfully impoverished, yet indelibly frugal, human entity)
Where’s my beer (infused with copious amounts of Carbon Dioxide… FUCK YOU AL GORE!!!! Nice Plastic Surgery BTW… Now your lips match your asshole!!!)
There, my ranting is complete… I feel relieved…
Thank you for not reading…
I assure you, it isn’t worth it…

US: Fannie Mae is asking for another $15 billion, citing a dramatic surge in delinquent mortgages due to climbing unemployment. Article states that “problems … have proven far worse than most experts had foreseen.”
jobless recovery? bah
Nothing new here…. Its always been this way (Elitists scamming the ignorant unwashed masses) …. Only difference now is news travels at the speed of light. Not so long ago it would have been months later when the farmer in the field learned he’d been scammed by the elitists and their hired stooges (the Washington debate society)
This treaty it is about buying credits for emission (not directly about creating clean abundant energy/restoring natural balance/stopping toxic waste/stopping oil use and so on) thats why big companies support it because they just buy credits to produce, calculate cost on to the consumer (unfair advantage/competition that benefits those with most capital who are able to buy more “credit”). Some countries are excluded from even reducing any “greenhouse gasses”. Some more history; look for a club of rome document about this (i done the search for you http://www.scribd.com/doc/13088153/Club-of-Rome-The-First-Global-Revolution never believe my word or this site; just do the research, first we had another ice age, then the ozone layer was dying then global warming/green house now climate change. Another fact; if we stop all co2 now it would take decades before we see any change.(so al gore can scam/create mass hysteria for a long time) But you supported obama, of course you can give people a chance some things can be predicted by chance calculation; you are getting there, not saying my comments are perfect (which I refer back to/hope you have read my arguments); but i have a lot of spare time that i use for gaining knowledge. some things can be predicted by chance calculation; you are getting there, not saying my comments are perfect; but i have a lot of spare time that i use for gaining knowledge.
he he… India’s scientist prove there is no direct link, http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2009/nov/09/india-pachauri-climate-glaciers, and Jesuit’s UN calls them names.
Not single reason, nor proof to oppose theory. all they (UN) have is: “arrogant” and similar names.
ho ho ho… christmas is gona be fun fun fun this year… and when all those christmas’s sales plunge… look at it as entertaiment. Laugh don’t fear.
after all, we all are responsible for current state of world. To find guilty one, look in the mirror.

Lindsey Williams IMOP = Unwitting dupe … Here’s how the long con is played (right Max? : ) ) You give the mark some good calls …. sometimes take years setting up the scam…. He gains credibility and following because what they told him did happen. Then you pull the rug out. Everyone who believe the unwitting dupe gets taken for suckers and the unwitting dupe is the boy who cries wolf… Loud mouth problem solved nary a shot fired.
Fact is America is more communist than Soviet Russia or Communist China ever was. There are over 110 trillion is off-book investments (google CAFR1) controlled by America’s communist party (the commissars) aka institutional investors. That stolen loot is invested all over the world…. Somebody somewhere starts making noise some noise saying AmeriKa is going down? The commissars pulll the investments from that country…. Hot money fleeing… Country dead just like in Iceland Right Max? Yep. Even that don’t work? That’s why we spend more on the military than the next 12 countries combined.
Its CHECKMATE… the world is owned by communist Amerika… that is until real light gets shined on those roaches.. Till then Goldman Sucks is a convenient distraction. Even their CEO is a self-richeous easily hate SOB.
i may share this with you in the future. maybe not
obviously i can not share this with you now.
I used to believe in global warming. I used to believe that the free markets existed. I used to believe that Merica actually fought for democracy. I grew up. I don’t understand how Max and Stacy can believe in global warming. Don’t get me wrong we should clean up pollution and stop mindlessly destroying the earth. We need to realize that there are finite resources, and that this is a reality of life. Still, global warming can not even be shown to be happening. If it were happening it could not be proven to be caused by man. It seems like global warming supporters are as blind as people who swear Merica is a peaceful nation trying to make the world a safer place.
sometime i may tell you about sharing hot water on sunday afternoon with five brothers and one sister taking turns in the tub of water. putting coal and wood in the furnace and eating meat ounce a week but you would not get it.

The Science and Public Policy Institute.
Chief Policy Adviser: Christopher Walter Monckton
The 3rd Viscount Monckton of Brenchley (born 14 February 1952) is a British politician, business consultant, policy adviser, writer, columnist, inventor and hereditary peer. He served as an advisor to Margaret Thatcher’s policy unit in the 1980s. (Source: Wikipedia)
This is the same guy who advocated rounding up people with AIDS and locking them up.
Do you really think an ex-policy adviser to Margaret Thatcher gives a shit about the little people? He’s a paid shill.
It took me quite a while to cut through all the cluttered and confusing information between advocate science (ie. corporate-funded) and objective science.
The guys who know what they’re talking about hang out here – http://www.realclimate.org
Prediction #1 by Lindsey Williams is supported by the following article:
DALLAS FED PRESIDENT ACKNOWLEDGES EASY MONEY CAUSING DOLLAR DECLINE
A number of Federal Reserve officials made comments Tuesday about U.S. employment likely continuing for a long time and the need for the Fed to maintain super low interest rates. In an eye popping comment, the Dallas Fed president acknowledged that the easy money was damaging the dollar, but he was unconcerned as long as the decline was orderly. So as long as the U.S dollar collapses slowly instead of suddenly, everything is fine. This is the wisdom from the people in charge folks.
The economic geniuses at the Fed are not worried about inflation, as is also the case across the pond in the other quantitative easing powerhouse, the Bank of England. There is no case in history where significant excess money creation didn’t lead to inflation, but why be bothered by historical fact. How excessive the money creation is this time is indicated by a gauge kept by Morgan Stanley which measures the amount of cash circulating in the global economy as a percent of total economic activity. It is at a record high by far. Of course, you don’t need complex money measures to determine if there is inflation. Gold has been the inflation thermometer throughout the ages and it indicates quite clearly that inflation is heating up.

last time. the oil is gone. as in goodnight irene. ya falla fella.
Lindsey Williams predictions (from Alex Jones show):
1. The US dollar will plummet to 0 within 2 years due to fed monetizing debt.
2. US going the way of Iceland over the next 2 years
3. GOLD AND SILVER IS THE ONLY THING YOU CAN DEPEND ON & WILL SKYROCKET.
4. The stock market will set new records within the next two years before crashing.
5. The US government will own all banks & most people will be working for the government in 2 years.
6. Oil range bound for near future at $80 but then skyrocket past old record with hyperinflation within 2 years.
7. The US will plummet into poverty after 2 years.
glen, oil is gone forever
when the oil is gone the muslims will finally be safe. oh and warm
Here I showed in just three scientifical research reports one a little bit older from Jun 13, 2002 and two fresh ones from March 2009 and Nov. 10, 2009 , that the dramatic CO2 claims made are clearly bogus!
One must keep in mind that these claims only have been made by JUST ONE science group, mind you! If you want to call these over payed people scientist. I personnaly think it’s propagandistic pseudo science with only one purpose: Delude the public into the, by the Club of Rome made up, CO2 hoax. Man made as it’s own enemy but not on my watch.
Virtually every subject you two are ahead of, not so with this one. First, there is plenty of oil (not that I am for using oil) but it is being controlled just like the price of gold. Why can’t people who know the price of gold is controlled not believe the oil price is controlled by preventing the release of new discoveries? Even the theory of oil coming from plants has been disproved quite some time ago. For example, all plant and animal life remains is above 16,000 feet, but they found oil much deeper. It is actually produced abiotically.
Lindsey Williams has been excellent predicting the price of oil. Check out his video here:

canadian style nuclear hydro stations will be built all over the world. iran will be bombed for being second. no more global warming just radiation.
frick, this thread is nuts

some people will tell people and they will tell other people and all the people will know. happens all the time.
Of Sunspots, Volcanic Eruptions And Climate Change
The research, published in a paper in the May 15 issue of Geophysical Research Letters, provides striking evidence that sunspots — blemishes on the sun’s surface indicating strong solar activity — do influence global climate change, but that explosive volcanic eruptions on Earth can completely reverse those influences.
It is the first time that volcanic eruptions have been identified as the atmospheric event responsible for the sudden and baffling reversals that scientists have seen in correlations between sunspots and climate.
To truly confirm any connection between sunspots and climate, a consistent correlation would have to be observed over a long period, covering many solar cycles, Ram explained.
That’s what he and his graduate students and co-authors have done with their study of ice cores, long cylinders of ancient ice from Greenland that serve as a frozen archive in that they record climate details from thousands of years ago.
“This is the beauty of working with ice cores,” said Ram. “They go back 100,000 years, so we can study how dust concentrations vary along the ice core, reflecting past atmospheric dust concentrations.”
Plain old dust, Ram added, holds the key in these experiments because it reflects how dry conditions were in a particular year. “Dust is a very sensitive parameter of climate,” he explained.
Drawing on climate data derived from ice cores obtained through the Greenland Ice Sheet Project 2, (GISP2), the scientists used laser-light scattering techniques to determine the level of dust in the atmosphere for roughly the past 300 years, which is how far back sunspot data have been recorded.
CONCLUSION: “During these times of high volcanic activity, the sunspot/climate correlation reverses and dust levels rise, even in the absence of high sunspots,” explained Stolz.

Touched a nerve in ignorant you didn’t I… snicker
i thought the argument had moved to were out of oil not what it does. could we please live in the now. some comments are childish here. wake up.
@merci
I could have written your comment. Perfect summary of where my head is right now.
As always, the question remains…
What can be done?
Ironically, the answer may come via the military.
I recently read the UK’s Strategic Defence Review, published in 1998 looking out 30 years – http://bit.ly/N8J6z (pdf).
It’s quite a meaty tome with lots of dry military stuff in it.
However, it provides a fascinating projection of likely/probable/possible/unlikely geopolitical and social scenarios.
In a world of growing inequality one such scenario was the working and middle class forming a grand coalition.against the wealthy elite.
I think theres something in this. Working Class and Middle Class are fuzzy phrases that are past their sell-by date.
Perhaps one positive and proactive approach would be to help both ‘classes’ see that they are now becoming part of a new class.
That class is 21st Century Serfdom.
We need a meme/narrative/wake-up call that motivates both classes to fight for a better future.
The bad guys are winning partly because they’ve splintered us, like they always do. Politics is now a sideshow to distract us from the real issues.
Climate change has splintered us too.
My journey to better understand the science took me into advocate science first. A lesson learned.
I (like many here) see an elite group of bankers and their masters stealing our nations’ wealth and observe a new carbon trading structure being built by the very same people. Hmmm….
I can see the clear dangers ahead – carbon derivatives anyone?
Fortunately however, my dissatisfaction with the way of the world has not blinded me to science.
Issue 1.Global warming is happening, and it’s looking highly likely that it’s our fault.
Issue 2: We have to find a way to deal with it that stops the wealthy elite scamming us like they have with the financial system.
These two issue are SEPARATE.
There are fine minds with non-political perspectives addressing Issue 1.
Our job is to deal with Issue 2.
hey rick. go play in traffic
@ Max
Any argument for carbon credits is a crap regardless of how much mayhem CO2 makes. This whole system was created by corrupt politicians for and only for corrupt bankers. This is just another ponzi scheme and main beneficiaries of this fraud will be Al Gore and Goldman Sachs. It is already implemented in Europe and it does not work. And by the way, all those corporations producing their crappy products in China are all for it as China chose to ignore it and thus carbon credits will eliminate local European/US competition that is already producing things in much more clean way than factories in China. In your analogy, you are barred of defecating in your room but your chineese peer in the other side of the same room will now defecate twice as much.
Less corrupt politicians would mandate some real solution. For example any carbon producing factory (or gas producing refinery) has to plant and maintain a forest capable to soak up some part of emitted carbon (or hire some farmers to do so). One can start with, say, 10 percent (to not kill the economy) and gradually rise this limit over time. It would do all the goodies at once as you end up with less carbon in air, a bunch of new shiny forests and real, healthy jobs in planting/maintaining forest instead of crooky speculators trading in their carbon credit pits. And Chineese would happily also go this way as their natural environment is a big stinking crap and their people are becoming increasingly more angry (and less healthy) because of it.
Unfortunately, in US and Europe people prefer shuffling papers back and forth (garbage paper jobs that could disappear and no one would notice) instead of doing some real, useful work. And our politicians are too corrupt to even think this way.
In a few years everyone will see that carbon credits is a huge scam that does not solve the problem at all and you will regret praising this crap. The same way you now regret praising Obama.
At the time, an alert reader pointed out to Joe Romm that there was in fact, no indication from data and observations that a larger percentage of human CO2 emissions were ending up in the atmosphere. In fact, the data showed that the fraction of CO2 emitted into the atmospheric by human activities has remained constant for the past 40 years.
This fact runs directly counter to the idea that the earth’s natural CO2 sinks are weakening—instead it indicates that natural sinks have been expanding as anthropogenic CO2 emissions have increased. After all, in order to keep the airborne fraction of CO2 emissions constant over time, increasing anthropogenic CO2 emissions must be countered by an increasing CO2 sink.
This study re-examines the available atmospheric CO2 and emissions data including their uncertainties. It is shown that with those uncertainties, the trend in the airborne fraction since 1850 has been 0.7 ± 1.4% per decade, i.e. close to and not significantly different from zero.
New data show that the balance between the airborne and the absorbed fraction of carbon dioxide has stayed approximately constant since 1850, despite emissions of carbon dioxide having risen from about 2 billion tons a year in 1850 to 35 billion tons a year now.
This suggests that terrestrial ecosystems and the oceans have a much greater capacity to absorb CO2 than had been previously expected.
The results run contrary to a significant body of recent research which expects that the capacity of terrestrial ecosystems and the oceans to absorb CO2 should start to diminish as CO2 emissions increase, letting greenhouse gas levels skyrocket.
Dr Wolfgang Knorr at the University of Bristol found that in fact the trend in the airborne fraction since 1850 has only been 0.7 ± 1.4% per decade, which is ESSENTIALLY ZERO!
http://www.worldclimatereport.com/index.php/2009/11/10/airborne-fraction-of-human-co2-emissions-constant-over-time/#more-393
Ten years ago when people were talking about climate change I said “Nothing will be done about climate change until corporate business can make money out of it”.
That is how the world works in the money world.
Ask T-Bone or whatever his name is. The ex-oil guy who is getting into alternative energy.
Whether it is human activity or natural phenomenon causing the planet to heat – to these guys is a side issue. If they see an opportunity to make a buck outta anything they will run with it.
I watch a trading site but never traded in my life. It is interesting to watch how they think. Some have favorites, but generally the subject is secondary.
They will trade anything if there is a future in it (pardon the pun). They know the whole thing is manipulated and they don’t care, its just money and they are going to make it.
The chartists are amazing. No fundamentals whatsoever, just charts. Its another world. Someone asks them about economics and they just disregard it. Its fascinating how our (ok my) reality is not theirs.
One thing is most evident in this entire debate… Those gulible fools who believe this latest elitist ruse (faux man-made climate change) know the least science. They’re followers who are ill-prepared to think for themselves and arrive at reasoned conclusions. Meanwhile those who do have a clue are silenced and ridiculed and accused of being Holocaust deniers and told we do not exist. BullCACA! Yep thats what George Carlin would have said now like he said then. People are fools if they think they have ANY effect on Earth’s climate.
PS I was kind of wondering when Max’s inner Pied Piper would emerge… Build the credibility in one arena and herd the sheeple into the slaughter house. That’s how it works… YEP!
the chinese told the people to buy silver and will not lose face. she is going up. max and stacey told the people, why doesn’t murdock tell the people.
The University of Bristol press release is even more explicit: “New data show that the balance between the airborne and the absorbed fraction of carbon dioxide has stayed approximately constant since 1850, despite emissions of carbon dioxide having risen from about 2 billion tons a year in 1850 to 35 billion tons a year now.” http://icecap.us/

just a comment of that great toilet analogy… I don’t think we don’t polute, and I don’t think everything is great.
But to solve the problem, get to root of it.
I think we must find a way to live in dynamic equilibrium with nature. We are making to much trash by cyclic economy, which is producing trash goods, and that is basicly TRASH!
We must produce quality goods that will last. Then we will be able to feed & cloth whole world. And then we can explore space, together as one.
First we must get over GREED. Not abolish it. We have to outgrew it! This Carbon tax is SCAM, based on few people’s GREED. because, “I pollute just by breading out CO2.” Well hell, they do so. So they should pay me, as well. In fact, I ride I bike, they drive in limo, and I should PAY THEM?!?
This is a SCAM. I watch things in problem solution paradigm. This solves nothing. It’s like saving soul with many… brings back Bob Dylan “Masters of War”

While the carbon credits/global warming stuff is nonsense, there is something to the ‘defecating in the apartment’ argument to be made on a local level. For instance, I could see the city of Gary, Indiana levying a big tax on the steel mills for the smog there.
Max, you said all the right things about the banks. People instinctively knew the banking situation didn’t feel right. You clearly put in to words what people felt. What you’ve said made sense. You lead, people follow. People trust you.
Something about this MMGW doesn’t feel right either. How can paying tax save the planet? If people were serious about stopping the ‘climate from changing’, why not just let the economy collapse? Why try and rescue car manufacturers?

As you can see from the overwhelming response to your stance in most of the comments in this thread it seems to be an exercise in futility to argue against them. There is a visceral emotional component that simply cannot be reasoned with. The emotion is understandable when you considered what the implications are if climate change is real.
It seems the truth of matter lies not wholly in the denialist camp or in the Green camp but in a synthesis of the two that results in a very unpalatable truth: climate change has been triggered by the industrial revolution and there is nothing that can be done to mitigate it let alone prevent it from happening. The earth systems are now in a positive feedback loop that will establish a new stable climate equilibrium at a higher average global temperature (8 to 10 degrees Celsius) that will result in a ecosystem with far less species diversity and a much reduced human population–the earth will be a diminished shadow of its former beauty and abundance.
The driving force now is not human inputs of green house gases; those inputs were simply the trigger that will unleash the earth’s vast stores of greenhouse gases (in the form of permafrost CO2 and methane hydrates) that dwarf all of the previous inputs from human industrial activity. So the denialists are right in the sense that climate change is ultimately driven by natural forces. Carbon trading and other mitigation schemes have no chance in significantly affecting the course of earth system forces that are acting to establish a new climate equilibrium state.
James Lovelock sees the handwriting on the wall better than most others and has the most realistic appraisal of the situation. The only realistic course of action is adaptation not prevention. But adaptation is at best a lifeboat strategy that does not involve saving the current industrial global civilization and 80 to 90% of the human population. This is not something that leaders and politicians can sell to their people for obvious reasons. So they must continue the deception of climate agreements, cap and trade and green technologies to placate the public with false hopes that somehow we will be able to avert the inevitable collapse of our industrial civilization and get through this together.
Meanwhile, the adaptation strategy is being implemented by the elite with the trillions looted from the treasuries and economies of the nations to fund those preparations for the 10% of the population that will survive in the remaining habitable areas of the earth.
There is a climate change “hoax,” but the hoax is not that human activity has triggered climate change but that human intervention can stop it from happening.

Global warming or global governance?
- -Interviews of climate scientists and biologists from numerous sources who explain, step by step, why Al Gore and the global warming alarmists are incorrect. In some cases, blatantly so. It also provides evidence that the global warming agenda is being funded with tens of billions of dollars as a mechanism to create global governance. Hear from congressmen, experts and even well-known news broadcasters how global governance puts global institutions that are not accountable to the American people in control of every aspect of our economy. The U.S. government is very close to making this a reality.- -

Man-made global is happening. What’s simply happened is that the PTB recognised it earlier and said ‘we can make some money from this’.
Two separate issues entirely, which took me quite a while to figure out.
I despise how the PTB yank us around as their playthings, and I can see the clear dangers ahead – carbon derivatives anyone?
However, my dissatisfaction with the way they run the world has not blinded me to science.
I recommend anyone who disputes man-made climate change (as I used to until recently) watch this video. It addressed most of my concerns and questions – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2T4UF_Rmlio

Haven’t heard you about bio fuels, my view is that it is burning food for fuel increasing starvation and it is beneficial for chemical companies like monsanto. This was pushed for couple years but wore off and saying that because the gamma rays can destroy the earth or galaxies can collide you don’t have to clean up, isn’t even a funny analogy that makes sense. The sun is the main factor, the co2 is at low, high co2 level means more plants/50% more growth, co2 is only a small percentage in the atmosphere, oceans are responsible for much more co2 than mankind but let’s assume co2 is evil; what are the new clean technologies; electric cars, how is electricity generated? no, wind mills and solar panels have only a very small part because they are inefficient and cost a lot for maintenance. So that’s coal or oil, even with “clean energy” (burning bio mass/trees counts as green) the energy companies/oil companies cash in on (artificial) “scarcity”. Like enron turning off power to drive up prices, who thought up the trading scheme. I dont trust peak oil, something to convinient; but might as well be real the other way around to prevent panic buying, because there is information for both sides due to different motives i just don’t know but don’t trust it either way. Oil and coal is bad for the environment, but this is just selective enforcement of taxing that will be calculated trough to the consumer and aims at small business/middle lower class. Talking about intellectual property or depriving humanity of progress (my term that fits better); ever heard of codex alimentarius? its the global food take over. From the speculators robbing the economy, to wars, to technological innovation and to intellectual property: it can only be solved from 1 place it has one root; the government/politicians. I think the carbon tax is a hoax for credit speculators and another attack on the middle class, the new techniques develop slowly, are inefficient and stick to the theory of speculating global corporations royalty. The artificial wars to giving tax money to gamble addicts and the lack of action from representatives; even if we try to buy gold their gold go up in price as well and goldman sachs high frequency trading can steal from transactions. Anyways; i don’t think we see the end of fractional reserve banking/central banking, return to gold standard, end of economic manipulation, exploitation or that China is able to contain its social unrest; the developing nations will be imploded by design and industry moved to cheap labour/easy law countries as soon as they start regulating wages/unions/environmental rules. Like the useless prius you just have to buy a new version every year that doesn’t do anything to clean up the environment and people will never be allowed to have an own independent, free self sufficient clean energy source (look at all technology patented, alternative energy companies bought out, inventors killed and so on), to make it clear im against our oil based economy but 90% of the products contain oil, almost all energy is generated by coal and oil, it is just like 50% of the food here is thrown away during production mostly because it doesn’t look right (and now we put it in our cars at least monsanto poisoned corn) while 1 billion people are starving; a tax on throwing away food is not going to solve the world hunger problem. And to deal with rising sea levels we should work with the water (solid solutions not temporary like oil sand/biofuel/inefficient techniques), how do you explain rising and currently cooling temperatures on all planets btw?
Yet it isn’t climate change DENIAL its MAN MADE climate change denial, i don’t deny toxic waste, dying oceans/fish populations, consumer electronics and other dumping in poor nations or that our bad recycle system shouldnt be improved.
Ice Ages, proven by scientists, ebb and flow with natural cycles on earth. What caused the warm ups that ended previous ice ages? A more chilling question …
What caused the previous ice ages to regenerate?
Carbon emissions factor into the today’s equation … although how much? I concur that monitoring gas emissions is essential, but at what cost burden to the aggregate? This argument will never be resolved.
Speculation fans the flame of every debate, common sense is buried by the frenzy. IMHO let nature take its course.
(CNSNews.com) – As the world focused on President Barack Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday, a small group of determined scientists gathered in a Senate office building to present evidence backing their claim that climate change is caused not by man but by nature, and that carbon dioxide is not a pollutant but the hope for a greener planet.
John Kwapisz, organizer and moderator at the panel discussion, recalled Obama’s speech at the G20 summit in Pittsburgh, Pa., last month as a way of illustrating the dramatic tone used by those who embrace global warming as a dire and eminent threat.
“That so many of us are here today is a recognition that the threat from climate change is serious, it is urgent, and it is growing,” Obama said on Sept. 22 at the summit. “Our generation’s response to this challenge will be judged by history, for if we fail to meet it — boldly, swiftly, and together – we risk consigning future generations to an irreversible catastrophe.”
“No nation, however large or small, wealthy or poor, can escape the impact of climate change. Rising sea levels threaten every coastline,” Obama said. “More powerful storms and floods threaten every continent. More frequent droughts and crop failures breed hunger and conflict in places where hunger and conflict already thrive.”
“On shrinking islands, families are already being forced to flee their homes as climate refugees,” he said. “The security and stability of each nation and all peoples – our prosperity, our health, and our safety – are in jeopardy. And the time we have to reverse this tide is running out.”
The scientists said they were on Capitol Hill to challenge the president’s claims and show that Mother Nature controls climate around the world and that CO2 in the atmosphere benefits people, plants and animals.
“Nature, not human activity rules the planet,” said Fred Singer, an atmospheric and space physicist and research professor at George Mason University and professor emeritus of environmental science at the University of Virginia. “And once you’ve decided that on the basis of evidence, then everything else falls into place.”
“A lot of the problems that President Obama seems to be concerned about are no longer a concern,” Singer said.
H. Leighton Steward holds up his book as he speaks to a crowd on Capitol Hill about the benefits of CO2 to the planet, people, plants and animals. (CNSNews.com/Penny Starr)“When there’s more carbon dioxide put into the air, the plants respond in an astonishing fashion,” said H. Leighton Steward, geologist, environmentalist, author and founder of the Web site plantsneedco2.org.
Steward said that since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution in 1860, the amount of CO2 put into the air has increased average plant growth by 12 percent and average tree growth by 18 percent around the world.
“So if we want to green the earth,” Steward said, “we need to put more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. It’s the earth’s greatest airborne fertilizer.”
“If we want the ecosystems and the habitats to be more robust and hold more animal life, more plant life, we need to put more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere,” Steward said, adding that proponents of man-made global warming have given CO2 a bad name.
“It’s now being looked at and called a pollutant. I can tell you, I’ve asked every scientist that I’ve ever run into, chemical expert,” Steward said. “There is not one, I repeat, not one instance in which carbon dioxide is a pollutant.”
Roy W. Spencer, researcher at the University of Alabama-Huntsville, author, and a former senior scientist at NASA, presented his research on natural global warming and cooling, including the role that cloud cover and the sun play in the changes of the earth’s climate.
In keeping with scientific protocol, much of the presentation consisted of graphs, charts, and other data to make the case that much of climate change is the result of natural phenomenon rather than human activities and that any contribution by humans is miniscule.
The event on Capitol Hill was not without a political twist, with some global warming advocates speaking out during the question-and-answer period. One scientist from NASA claimed he was available after the discussion if anyone was interested in hearing the other side of the issue.
Many in the room laughed at his comment, but the crowd that gathered in the Rose Garden just moments earlier heard Obama use his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech as an opportunity to again issue a warning about the threat of global warming.
“We cannot accept the growing threat posed by climate change, which could forever damage the world that we pass on to our children – sowing conflict and famine; destroying coastlines and emptying cities,” Obama said.
Marc Morano, former congressional staffer and founder of the Web site climatedepot.com, told the crowd that he thinks the tide is turning against what he called global warming alarmists. He cited a call by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to hold a global warming trial.
“The Chamber seeks to have a complete trial ‘complete with witnesses, cross-examinations and a judge who would rule, essentially, on whether humans are warming the planet to dangerous effect,’” Morano wrote in an editorial he distributed at the event.
Top Rocket Scientist: No Evidence CO2 Causes Global Warming
Text size
Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
Tuesday, July 22, 2008
The campaign to force people to accept that “the debate is over” and that man-made CO2 emissions are driving climate change is in deep trouble, with another top global warming advocate – rocket scientist and carbon accounting expert Dr. Richard Evans – completely reversing his position.
Al Gore made his movie in 2005 and presented ice cores as the sole reason for believing that carbon emissions cause global warming. In any other political context our cynical and experienced press corps would surely have called this dishonest and widely questioned the politician’s assertion.
Evans was a consultant to the Australian Greenhouse Office from 1999 to 2005 and he wrote the carbon accounting model (FullCAM) that measures Australia’s compliance with the Kyoto Protocol.
In an article for The Australian newspaper, Evans highlights why he was so keen to jump on board the man-made explanation without there being any clear conclusion as to what was driving temperature increases in the period from the end of the 70’s to 1998.
“The evidence was not conclusive, but why wait until we were certain when it appeared we needed to act quickly?” writes Evans. “Soon government and the scientific community were working together and lots of science research jobs were created. We scientists had political support, the ear of government, big budgets, and we felt fairly important and useful (well, I did anyway). It was great. We were working to save the planet.”
“But since 1999 new evidence has seriously weakened the case that carbon emissions are the main cause of global warming, and by 2007 the evidence was pretty conclusive that carbon played only a minor role and was not the main cause of the recent global warming,” he concludes.
Evans points out that the “greenhouse signature” that would indicate CO2 emissions are driving temperature increases – “a hot spot about 10km up in the atmosphere over the tropics” – which would be evident if climate change was man-made, is simply non-existent.
“If there is no hot spot then an increased greenhouse effect is not the cause of global warming. So we know for sure that carbon emissions are not a significant cause of the global warming,” he writes.
Evans highlights data collected from satellites positioned around the globe that indicates temperatures have dropped about 0.6C in the past year – back to 1980 levels. Such figures are complimented by anecdotal evidence of a cooling pattern – China recently experienced its coldest winter in 100 years while northeast America was hit by record snow levels and Britain suffered its coldest April in decades as late-blooming daffodils were pounded with hail and snow on an almost daily basis.
Evans also cites historical climate change and the fact that CO2 does not cause, but in fact lags behind temperature increase by as much as 800 years.
“The new ice cores show that in the past six global warmings over the past half a million years, the temperature rises occurred on average 800 years before the accompanying rise in atmospheric carbon. Which says something important about which was cause and which was effect,” he writes.
“The last point was known and past dispute by 2003, yet Al Gore made his movie in 2005 and presented the ice cores as the sole reason for believing that carbon emissions cause global warming. In any other political context our cynical and experienced press corps would surely have called this dishonest and widely questioned the politician’s assertion,” writes Evans.
Evans warns that the insistence on behalf of the man-made advocate establishment that “the debate is over,” despite the fact that a CO2 link to climate change “was merely asserted, not proved,” and the glee with which governments have adopted measures to fight global warming under this false assumption, will cause economies to be wrecked and as temperatures cool further, authorities will have to face charges of “criminal negligence” for deliberately lying to the public about climate change.
Evans’ public reversal of his position arrives on the back of two peer reviewed scientific papers, one of which documents how C02 emissions in fact cool the planet’s temperature and another that shows how the IPCC overstated CO2’s effect on temperature by as much as 2000 per cent.
As we reported last week, the world is cooling, sea levels are falling, ice is spreading, there are fewer extreme weather events, and it was hotter 1000 years ago, yet the myth of global warming is providing governments the excuse to micromanage every aspect of our lives, with Al Gore now openly calling for a carbon tax on the energy we use.
Andrew Bolt of the Australian Sun-Herald has put together a series of graphs based on numbers from a plethora of scientific bodies to prove that the most alarmist claims about climate change are not only unproven, but in fact the complete opposite of what man-made global warming advocates proclaim is now being observed
@youri: is he serious about dropping wind energy? as if the sun is so efficient in 0031…
Its went form CFCs killing the ozone layer
to CO2 causing global warming (the remedy of which used to be planting more GOD DAMN TREES)

Natural Gas has been “Beaten up behind the wood shed” and left for dead. In the mean time the stockpiling continues rather quietly and seemingly hidden via the media. Quite intriguing. Will nat gas become the transition off of CO2?

I don’t mind if laws make sense but this bull$hit fear tactic the world is going to FUC$%^ end $hit has to STOP!!!!!!!!!!
@Max
It is intellectually dishonest that otherwise very intelligent individuals fall for and support faux science and propaganda to achieve a goal of alternative energy sources. A worthy goal shared by any sane person.
There is no scientific evidence to support human CO2 driving climate. NONE
Comment about politics: the “conservative” Republicans in my family do not believe in climate change and their attitude is basically that it’s just a silly liberal lie. More than that, they equate concern about the environment with weakness and deride activists for things like “trying to save this one tiny insect/species.” One brother-in-law has a Hummer (with a NRA sticker) and loves to drive it around just to piss off liberals. Wish I were joking. I don’t know if there has ever been a poll conducted to see what percentage of registered Republicans believe in climate change or peak oil; I’m willing to bet that it’s a small percentage.

good article about climate change
“Climate Change” is not something you “believe in” or “don’t believe in”.
It is, rather, a scientific problem to be solved by the scientific method.
There is NO ROOM for politics in the scientific method. Politics distorts both the methodolgy and the FACTS being studied.
So now CAP AND TRADE is being proposed to help “solve” the global warming problem…
…which makes it a completely separate argument than “manmade glabal warming”.
So… if you are arguing FOR the phenomenon (or against) of global warming, you need to stay within the scientific method (state your thesis, display your facts, draw your conclusions and submit for peer review). Very few people are even qualified to make either argument. THOSE people are arguing properly, using the scientific method.
That is as it should be.
Cap and Trade is a political “solution” to a problem that is still under scientific inquiry. There is no “evidence” that it will even work, and the general result of the new “system” will be to shift power upward and tilt the economic table toward the same.
There are other solutions, far more community-oriented that will reduce CO2 if we can just get away from the whole “universal-solution -top-down-dictator”-theory…
Notice how what began as the use of fossile fules destroying the planet is meming and morphing into all forms of human excrecia destroying the planet. This is twinned with the “too many humans” argument, the mindset of which is a cousin of the nazi holocaust
I would genuinely love to see some independent science on gw, mostly all that exists is crazy paranoids, commie enviromentalists and statists learing at all the extra revenue and control.

Next time please discuss the ..bubble.. that will form in carbon traiding markets, how that game will be geared and what effect that will have on the eniroment, wouldnt carbon credits become more expensive the more polluted the world becomes? if that market crashes could it take the entire planet with it?
@Mother Earth – ah yes, the ol’ pitchfork . . . well Thomas Jefferson encouraged citizens to take out the old pitch fork every 20 years or so; living in Paris, however, I am ever mindful that those encouraging the pitch fork wielders to do what the pitchfork does best more often than not ended up with their own heads adorning said pitchfork . . .
@Max
I still say pollution is one topic and climate change is another, mixed together by politicians on purpose.
@Mother Earth
“free (solar) energy means free wealth and prosperity.”
couldn’t have said it better myself – it is in everyone’s best interests to become energy independent as much as possible. Solar – geothermal (my fathers company does much work in this area).
“There is your answer.”
What if we pitchfork wielders don’t like the answer, MotherEarth? Isn’t it rather lame to indicate that the IMF can lead us all into a carbon-credit utopia for the common man’s interests?
The collusion of interests at this point is simply taking the torch from one set of exchange principals held by the IMF/BIS and delivering the torch back into the hands of the IMF for another set of exchange principals: is it not?
Europe should scrap its support for wind energy as soon as possible to focus on far more efficient emerging forms of clean power generation including solar thermal energy, one of the world’s most distinguished scientists said.
Solar power should replace wind energy, says Professor Jack Steinberger http://tinyurl.com/yzxn56v
it’s amusing (read: sad) to read the way people parse the climate change debate into worthless partial half-truths to justify their climate holocaust denials. While at the same time many of these folks use incredibly broad over generalized statements about WMD’s, (i.e., a needless war for corporate warfare welfare) ‘socialism’ (a pointless term/argument against health care that benefits corporate welfare), ‘piracy’ (a silly word to defend the corporate copyright cartel’s welfare system), ‘liquidity’ (a useless concept to give Goldman/Wall St. welfare queens more gov’t welfare money).
If the conversation is about the sociological, ecological and economic consequences of climate change – with an eye toward fulfilling some form of social contract between private enterprise and the rights of the public domain than all energy available from all concerned parties will naturally flow toward reversing the ill effects of the man made climate change holocaust threatening the public domain.
If the conversation is about how best to pour more billions of welfare money into the pockets of the S&P 500 – than yes, the spec of fly crap you might be eating is not pepper, but actual fly crap; 2% of ‘scientists’ in the world who also happen to be on the payroll of the S&P 500 have ‘doubts’ about climate change and Fox news is ‘fair and balanced.’

It would be so nice to lay the peak oil thing to rest, BP, Mobil and the (suppressed) IEA all say there is peak oil, and the law of exponential growth makes it a problem. Do you thik we are going to find exactly as much oil for the same price in the next ten years as we have used up until now? There is your answer.
@Rick
CO2 is much like excrement, it is used as fertilizer in greenhouses, which by the way is another reason it is called greenhouse gas.
@Stacy
But what of the genuine pitch fork movement? Where is an angry peasant going to post his grievances? I guess if you are a provocateur in the US you are either on their watchlist or on their payroll.
@Salt water energy
There is nothing special going on. Salt burns (just hold a flame to it). If you put it in water and you zap it with RF waves you heat and vaporize the water and heat the salt to a temp at which it burns.
It might be that the sodium is breaking up the water, which happens at around 1800 degrees. But that is not likely, and there is not an exothermic process (it does not release more energy than you had already). I wrote a piece about solar cracking of h2o into o2 and h+ recently, so that is why I know.
Everybody should start pushing the notion that free (solar) energy means free wealth and prosperity.

“Now against these various and numerous economic challenges that can be potentially caused by long-term climate changes, we, at the IMF, are ready to play our part. The IMF will work in close conjunction with the World Bank and relevant agencies to contribute to the analysis of the macroeconomic implications of climate change and the spillover effects of national polices on greenhouse gas emissions.
Most specifically the IMF can provide advice through its bilateral and multilateral analysis and monitoring. One advantage of the IMF is its membership is global. The IMF’s membership includes most developed and emerging as well as low income countries. So on the basis of a very universal membership we can provide bilateral and multilateral analysis and monitoring. And also, we can provide advice through our technical assistance on appropriate fiscal and other macroeconomic policies to mitigate climate changes and adapt to its consequences.
For example, we have been active in the design of relevant tax measures and other fiscal measures. In addition, the Fund can provide financial assistance to member countries in response to a range of macroeconomic disturbances including natural disasters, for example, through our Exogenous Shocks Facility for low income countries.”

I have not heard this show yet, but MK on almost every show wines about:
“YES IT HAS A NAME” (drum roll)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemon_socialism
…
“Lemon socialism” is a pejorative term for government support of private-sector companies whose imminent collapse is perceived to threaten broader economic stability. It is not a current within socialism per se; rather, it points to a corruption of free-market capitalist systems, which would normally allow defective companies (“lemons”) to fail. The most common government interventions that earn the term involve infusions of government capital, as in bailouts, and may include some government control over company decision-making, as in nationalization.

While the smartypants figure out what to do with energy, I’m trying to make all of the best changes I can think of personally. Although I frequent farmers’ markets more than I used to, I’ve never thought much about community supported agriculture, but I found a local CSA to join. Pretty cool: http://www.gvocsa.org/
On the food front, at least, it seems that more people are changing habits. Seed sales exploded during the spring; there are also signs that people are cooking more at home and canning their own food: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/10/dining/10home.html?_r=1
In either case like I said before either global warming man made or not peakoil is REAL and the transition needs to be made. Cap & Trade being the answer I don’t know – but something should be done.
@TJ – great link thanks; I recommend all take a look at it, “The Global Oil Scam” . . . $2.5 trillion in ’round trip’ trades; the oil market is so manipulated with the biggest player being Goldman; I am sure that is why Saudi Arabia dumped WTI in favor of Argus; we are going to be talking to someone about this in the next month or so
Considering peak oil, we may very well be fighting a geopolitical conflict merely for the sake of proving a theory. That, maybe there isn’t as much oil as once presumed. Its certainly borne out in the huge overestimation of the reserves in the caucasus, but we soldier on.
That being said, there is a way of generating energy without using oil, though you’ll have to sit there and watch for an hour:

@Stacy:
“provocative is different from provocateur”
Yes. My point entirely.
But I don’t like the definition you ceded for provocation:
“acting as a stimulus or incitement, esp to anger or sexual desire; provoking a provocative look a provocative remark”
I prefer this one:
“2 : something that provokes, arouses, or stimulates”
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/provocation
Stimulation can be a positive force. Of course, Youri would agree that arousal is nice. But now, often, the act of provocation is considered an act of personal agency outside the collective will and is thereby extinguished immediately.

@stacyherbert
I think you guys know a lot more about the oil issues than I do but than it depends on who you want to believe. I won’t dismiss your findings immediately and have put the issue into my “Under Investigation” file. So you got me here.
This is not the case with the CO2 issue cause the blatant truth is out there for everybody to look up who realy wants to see it. This is something you guys realy must look into more thoroughly. Have you guys realy been watching this ( Global Warming Doomsday Called Off http://tinyurl.com/yfg4led ) vid? And if not please, I beg you, please do!
I think we have realy have to come together on the environmental issues but based on real science and not on what some PR bureau propagandize about it cause that only will harm the environment.
People talk utopian a lot but forget about reality. One good example is coal which still is one of the most important energy source. Did you know that Shell has done reasearch for years to burn coal in a very environmental clean way? Not many people know that. Did you know that Wind mills are not a sollution at all for our clean energy needs in the future but that sun energy is? Did you know that if the world is to drive electric tomorrow there arn’t enough resources available for the bateries?
Here I illustrate how much off some of the “clean energy” discussions are and I have made some studies about it and will continue do to so to get at the bottem of it based on research and science not on opaque believes and PR propaganda.

I finished watching this program on Youtube regarding Global Warming named “Great Global Warming Swindle “- by Martin Durkin. I think it’s interesting and may add something to the ongoing discussion about climate change and global warming. They have made a convincing case to support their argument about Global Warming not being a Man made Phenomenon, though they didn’t say we should keep on polluting but just to state that human contribution is not as much as it has been hyped.
Many among us might have been familiar with this series so I thought it might be worth mentioning .

@Stacy:
I mean: did Max mean to marginalize the opposing perspective concerning carbon emissions not being poison? If not, what did he mean by the ‘shit in the room’ comment? The comment assumes an underlying premise that carbon is a pollutant. But, as Youri calmly pointed out, the premise is not agreed upon in the scientific community at large.
I was wondering if your definition of provocation was aligned with Max’s metaphor of shit-fligging seeing as having shit flung upon a person would be directly provocative.
@ stacy.
@ Frances: stop cataloging my thoughtcrimes!
Bonn: Energy is free. The cost is in accessing it which can be labourious. I am curious about the salt water example. My question is, how much radio energy (input) is required to obtain what quantity of energy out?
“@Mep – lol, careful what you write online cuz @frances is keeping tabs on you”
No, actually I was curious what was considered ‘provocation’ on this site. I don’t censor comments, and I don’t judge Mep for being angry about the situation with the corporations in this country. You cited ZeroHedge as having a simular problem, yet ZeroHedge was quite specific as to their definition of provocation. Why don’t you tell your readers what you consider to be provocateuring?
@ marietta- Yes, it’s to know that people like Mr. Kansas are out there. I haven’t heard much about him since that news story came out, and haven’t really paid close enough attention to see whether anybody else was working through the logistics of using salt water fuel.
@ Stacy – There are really provocateur farms that advocate violence? Is that some kind of an entrapment thing where they try to set other people off so that the authorities can go after the people they incite?
@ frances – I was going to cop to a couple of comments that I wrote here, but forgot what they were. You have a good memory! Pretty sure that I did say I’d like to burn a WF to the ground. Also might’ve picked up on the bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb GS fever and posted a comment about that.

CO2 in not equivalent to excrement. CO2 is NOT a pollutant. CO2 is required for photosynthesis and in turn life on planet Earth. Clean is one thing but mixing fact with fiction is a waste of everyone’s time. Fact is until we have better battery technology the energy density of carbon based fuels will make them unavoidable. No one has figured out how to fly transAtlantic on an electric powered aircraft. Aluminum/air batteries look promising. Anyway GORE IS a lying SOB … he’s scum and sticks like the Thames once did.
@Mep – lol, careful what you write online cuz @frances is keeping tabs on you
@Youri – peak oil stuff is coming from US? when we made a film about it, it was actually mostly from Europeans where I found info; the CEO of French oil giant, Total, is the first of any oil major to say that oil production has peaked . . . this is blog quoting an FT article on this: http://peakenergy.blogspot.com/2009/02/total-says-oil-output-near-peak.html
At first I was taken in the global brow beating, now looking into it I think there is a debate going on within the scientific community.
Much of the global warming stuff is blatant fear mongering.
http://inthesenewtimes.com/2009/11/12/predictions-of-climate-change-induced-natural-disasters-falling-flat/.
The idea that computer models are predicting climate change
for the next few years or decade seem somewhat dubious to me. The earths cooling is also being discussed amongst scientists.
I think the best thing to come out of the debate/media consensus is the focus on energy efficiency and the worst thing is the distraction from the disappearing bees, who are rather vital to our ecosystem.
Max…your discussions of “copyright” are very important & quite insightful; as to not only growth dislocations but also & much more importantly IMO; as to personal freedom. As a suggestion; please investigate the “universities”…together with the G(darpa) as major culprits….no surprise there.

Very good idea Max & Stacy to adress the subjects which are drifting by on your very active meassage board. And we must forgive you for your very selective quoting about what has been said here cause it’s your board and show after all but we all know there is much more to it.
One false discussion I want to kill here right now and that’s the idea that you have people who don’t care about nature and those who do. BS, cause everyone cares about nature so you don’t have an all American black and white, good and bad, simplified reality here. But that’s more easy to debunk I guess.
CO2 is an hoax because it has been scientifically proven as such and not because of some scumbags like Gore and brothers in crime say so. But if people refuse to look at the hard scientific evidence and want to believe in fairy tales, your bet but not mine and of others who realy care about sciene and factuals.
The oil peak scam is on the same scale as the CO2 hoax scare tactics invented by evil man of the Club of Rome but not backed up by facts at all. Do you realy think that Shell and Noe van Hulst who is the secretary -general of the International Energy board ( Vid http://videoplayer.neos.nl/fd/index.php?item=1502 ) is going to lie about this when prices would be much higher if they know oil would be gone in a couple of years? Quess not. These oil shortage stories have been comming from the U.S. not from Europe and they are known for their “scare tactics” politics which soon will run out of steam cause people are fed up with it.
I agree about caring for and adressing environmental problems and probably even more so than CO2 beleivers cause they are led away from the real natural evil doers. Tha’s the greatest sin accomplished by this CO2 hoax. Nobody talks about acid rain anymore or the scala of real polluters out there.
So you people better get for real soon out there and if not, you will get when your butts will be freezing of by the next Ice Age and I will give you no oil to heat it up your sorry asses beacause you wonna believe so.
@mike

ZeroHedge indicates this to be provocation:

Is this the agency of which you were referring, Danny? Because it doesn’t seem to bother anyone on this site ever if someone advocates violence against banking interests.
@Dedo – it is mostly done via private contractors; I know someone at one of these contractors in London but could look into US based companies for you . . .
Sun spots cause climate change. The temperature is getting lower which goes against the theory that Max follows. Mt St. Helens spewed more toxic waste into the atmosphere than we could produce by cars for 1,000 years. Max keiser defecation analogy doesn´t make sense at all.
If the science doesnt prove that man made CO2 causes global warming then that would mean the defecation doesnt stink at all. Only those who stick their faces in the toilet say it stinks askin u to pay for it (and with u i dont mean corporations..thanks to Cap and trade). Its about an Organisation( IPPC) silenceing the debate on a matter that simply hasnt been completely scientifcally proven. Using mathematical Modells that simplify the reality (leaving countless variables out ) to predict the future. Just like Nassim taleb i am sceptic towards professions that claims to predict the future based on mathematical modells to explain the world. We have a what he called expert problem. Doesnt matter if its economics or meteorology. And even if the theory was true Cap and trade is clearly not reducing CO2 enough to stop anything (if u just look at their own numbers) rather than make banksters more tools to play with. Believing that this bill has anything to do with the environment is just naiv.
I miss the sceptisism on this issue.Seems to be more ideology driven and lacking objectivity.
Water polution, Distiction of species or even airpolution (where its actually been proven) are greater concerns yet no politician really cares about it unless they find a scheme to make money out of it or consolidate power.
And i am very cautious when politicans start to fear monger if its war or this issue. I think it stinks and its not my defecation.
@mep

imho Modern warfare is not about occupation, it is about determining the achievable level of organization in a region. The only response to that is terrorism, that is why that has become a main vision of the ‘enemy’ for the modern army…

If you want some numbers to back up your discussion about alternate energy, here you go:
Wikipedia presents the conventional wisdom that clean fusion power is “too expensive” because it will cost $60-80 billion to develop over 50 years, or 1 or 2 billion per year.
We could have funded all 50 years of this research with just the bailout to AIG (not to mention bailouts for Citi, JP Morgan, etc.). In fact Exxon/Mobile could easily fund all 50 years of research needed for just a couple years profits.

Time and agin example after Example the People at the Top dont care about anybodys lives never had never will. HOPE it will Change . is saying that she’s Almost pregnant. There is no such thing.
@Mep:
“@ frances – You said suppositories.”
Well?
Isn’t that the point? WE dialogue (on the internet) and Max indicates we produce shit: isn’t that what Max was indicating? IN which case Facebook and Twitter would just enable our shitting facilities to operate great-go-at-em: would be the crapalyst for our silliness.
@EB,
What’s the alternative to Cap-and-Trade you mention? Please list them and explain how they will cause dramatic changes in people’s behavior.
I have my doubts about Cap & Trade also, mainly because: if you put the cap too high then it doesn’t really change anything. Also people can game the system. But I’d like to see an effective alternative.
@Frances
Your took the words right out of my mouth.
Those who are chanting for the global emergence are set to reap rewards (more something for nothing) or have sipped the kool aid.
I say again that I am all for right minded, true measures to correct environmental problems. That isn’t even an issue anymore! I consider myself an environmentalist and advocate for alternative energies and responsible stewardship. That is not what is unfolding!
It is clear that this is not about sharing and joining the big global community of peace and freedom. The people are being mislead. I keep searching for benevolent actions on the part of those who are engineering this globe fest…..there are none to be found.
This is about power, money, control and instituting an oppressive social structure to minimize a revolt. I have tried to disprove this…..I search for the positive and everything I find leads back to a negative outcome for those not included in “the club”.
I find myself returning again to Mike Ruppert’s hypothosis on peak oil and its effects on markets and geopolitics.
Everyone should get a copy of Crossing The Rubicon. It supports everything Max and Stacy say; except of course what happned on 9/11 and the reasons for it.
Hope ‘The Truth About Comments’ continues… questions should be submitted on wednesdays in jibber jabber.
@gb @Mother Earth – thanks it should be a fun one; this week happened to be on environmental stuff because there was a peak oil and Gore carbon billionaire story so there were comments on this; next week, it will probably be a lot different
@ Mother earth
At some Point in time You need to have Physical Troops Present in the Occupied Country because wars are fought mainly for Resources so u do need TANKS
U thing US is in Afganistan for Democrasy
Nope they are there for 2 resons Opium and Oil Pipe line. Google “Pat Tillman”
Sorry Max, peak oil is not when it costs more energy to get the oil than the oil can produce. Peak oil is the point after which overall oii production declines, no matter what you do. I know it’s an acedemic distinction leaving us without oil either way.
@Max&Stacy
Good idea to do a show like this, to let out you guys environmental steam..
I thought locating this facility is timely…

@ frances – You said suppositories.
fyi Sheep is from the Animals album
@Frances for Christ’s sake, are we gonna wallow in SHIT forever?
May I suggest listening to “Pink Floyds’ ” song Sheep
(the synthesizer music sets the stage)
the lyrics:
Sheep (Waters) 10:19
Harmlessly passing your time in the grassland away;
Only dimly aware of a certain unease in the air.
You better watch out,
There may be dogs about
I’ve looked over Jordan, and I have seen
Things are not what they seem.
What do you get for pretending the danger’s not real.
Meek and obedient you follow the leader
Down well trodden corridors into the valley of steel.
What a surprise!
A look of terminal shock in your eyes.
Now things are really what they seem.
No, this is no bad dream.
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want
He makes me down to lie
Through pastures green He leadeth me the silent waters by.
With bright knives He releaseth my soul.
He maketh me to hang on hooks in high places.
He converteth me to lamb cutlets,
For lo, He hath great power, and great hunger.
When cometh the day we lowly ones,
Through quiet reflection, and great dedication
Master the art of karate,
Lo, we shall rise up,
And then we’ll make the bugger’s eyes water.
Bleating and babbling I fell on his neck with a scream.
Wave upon wave of demented avengers
March cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream.
Have you heard the news?
The dogs are dead!
You better stay home
And do as you’re told.
Get out of the road if you want to grow old.
Oh, and about the pooping and the cheap oil, it reminded me of factory farming and “cheap pork.” Factory farming is in many ways worse for the environment than anything else, but most people don’t think about it so long as there’s still cheap meat at the store.
Re: meteors hitting earth and the like, I trust our scientists to give us a heads up on threats like that. They’re very good at telling us when to expect meteor showers; I think they can be trusted to inform us of bigger events.
JibberJabber:
It’s the end of the American Empire.
Yep, that’s right Stacy.
I read somewhere, I don’t know where ( I took a class in college once too) about the American Empire ending. Snurf. And those stupid hacks in the country weren’t even aware that there was no oil. Snurf, Snurf.
Yep, that’s right Stacy.
And the oil is so deep it’s too much money to pull it up from the ground.
Yep, that’s right Stacy. So, how much time we got left.
And Max. The point is Uber-Dodgem was a great trip. We saw things. I see things everyday in my little jaunts with you. And I see that the oil is all used up.
Yep. Well. The medieval mind flings shit out windows. But not to worry, Stacy. Idiots are the only ones who would not trade credit in breathing.
Yes, well. Snurf, Snurf. What can one expect from Americans. We aren’t Americans anymore, right? Right? Max?
No, Stacy. We’re global citizens now, just like the Sea Captain. Guess we’re out of time. Oh, right.
Twentypercentofthenewcurrencywillbegoldbackingforhedgefunds. Words are power as long as they are approved. But don’t copyright: just copout.
That’s right, Max. Let’s redefine freedom.
@Bonn
It will be the drone wars, powered by nucelar batteries. Then, after some satelites are destoryed and the rest taken down by the shrapnel in orbit it will be the choice between abandoning the conflict (what is there to fight about) or go nuclear (which is the same thing)..As I said it is a choice between oil war or solar prosperity.
Have y’all heard about the guy who was trying to find a cure for cancer and figured out that salt water can burn?
Video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGjPpnH82Tg
“Facebook and Twitter are suppositories of intellectual power”
Apparently Max does not look as highly upon the blog content from his own “community” maxkeiser.com. Have we heard from Max or Stacy once about our brilliance? Our innovation? No: infactwearecalled….silly. Yes, you heard it here. Daddy Max and Mummy Stacy needed to chastise the basement dwellers for their medieval shit fligging entries. We are a community! That means what it means: as Obama said about the G20protests: Leave the abstracts to us and worry about how to live in your community. Because we’re going to put you all in sustainable villages and you won’t leave. So accept it.
Well, life in the community will be different from the life for the privileged. We will pay to be lesser for the Good of the Earth. After all, not everyone NEEDS to fly in airplanes. Driving in cars across the vast expanses: ditto. We, er, CHILDREN, need to pay our taxes to Sarkozy and Obama and Brown: for Christ’s sake, are we gonna wallow in SHIT forever?
Oh, and no use protesting. The Smirking Ones know they are on the winning team. The cost of ecology is not figured into the demise of the economy: it is the cost of words that hath wrung well the sheets and dried the dew. Credit is no longer extended to those who do not suck up, shut up, put up, and pull up to the corrupt and corrupting carbon credit exchange.
Al Gore is a success because those who own and manipulate the currency called the dollar granted Al all the extingencies needed to win/win. As Bill Gross indicated: this is the new normal. The IMF IS the government and the drink is the dross of the independent man.

Its either war or clean energy. Water is no longer a problem (google Saltworks).
Waiting until all oil is depleted is laissez faire and devestating. The assumption being you can’t really control oil companies. You can, and the defence ministries should repurpose all oil profits towards clean energy as a defensive measure.
If you take the patent and ip idea one step further there is something you could do right now which is support all expired patented technology. Examples: http://www.parabolictrough.org (diy parts for parabolic trough collectors)..or http://www.buildingcsp.com
No your wrong more than normal!
Nothing betters liquard fuels, we get it from Algee, like Dow Chemicals do now!
The rest of the show was hippy nonsense, i think the trouble is Max was born 10 years too late………..he missed the Flower power thing….Oh well…………..at lest he didn’t sing!

Max and Stacy: I enjoy your financial commentary and listen as often as time permits.
But on the environmental stuff, well, you haven’t a clue. Best you stay away from that minefield.
You are confusing conservation, sustainability and climate change pseudo-science, and neither of you seems to know which is which.
I work on major projects where we try to introduce low carbon footprint materials and have had some major successes. I’ve also worked with Nobel Laureate environmentalists from the IPCC.
The Americans are right to reject cap-n-trade and the Copenhagen treaty. There are much better and more effective methods of having a cleaner and sustainable environment than creating a monster that only serves to feed wealthy, elite global interests.
How you can disparage Goldman Sachs on the one hand and support Copenhagen-style cap-n-trade taxes on the other is beyond me. These are two sides of the same coin.
I hope that your listeners are better informed.

Change is good. Oil based, planet killing time is coming to an end. End the Fed, end the crap.
“Unemployed train in new energy technology”. Nice.
Force the change.
‘New world order’ to be scared about or New Conciousness time for all.
You decide, its up to us.
Continue to be passive and cop any new system or be part of making it better.
Blaming “the freaking elite” will get you nowhere.
Get off your ass and stop being the victim of your own creation.
“They made me invest in it”, ‘you’ are one of them.
Make choices in your life and take control. help others understand.
Sorry for disjointed rant. It is aimed at the human race. Not at anyone who might see it as a personal attack.
Peace out
If you crap so much that it’s going to kill you, you should die! In this room, if you have a toilet; you’re not solving the problem, you’re just moving it. How is that a solution?
The room you are describing kind of sounds like a farm. Crap is a fertilizer. Does it make sense to ‘flush’ it into the ocean; Then; mine a bunch of fertilizer to add to farmers fields.
It takes three days of sunlight to sterilize your poop. It would make more sense to flood farmers fields with crap. It sounds gross, but it would be ecologically sound.
OH!!! i forgot this show is a GREAT idea!!! thanks
Copyright laws are scary they can be used to stifle the public tor feed propaganda government take over of your mind!!!!
BIG GOVERNMENT MUST DIE!!!!!!!
it seems obvious to me that the concept of climate change has been coupled to the facts of pollution in order to render discussions confusing and take the heat off from the corporations for polluting everything.
@Max & Sherbert: completely agree: a burst of oil prices ( rising ??) is the wild card that will( might??) topple the slow and steady direction of a systematic controlled currency replacement plan( possibly extracting more $$$ from already downtrodden Americans–possibly causing transportation and delivery strikes already seen in Europe)….will the OPEC nations suffer losses while they would rather raise the price to function in the global economy…after all they want to be a force in the new SDR component currency…and the way to get there is an increase in revenue by raising prices( or hold the world hostage once again as with the gas lines of ’73 & ’79)…it is a delicate balance…and other nations also crave higher revenues ( Russia, Venezuela, Singapore, Nigeria )….aside from the lie of “Peak oil” ( see Lindsay Williams ) there is the upcoming “peak gold” argument…”Post Oil energy based system”…”still up for grabs”…”brain power”…..all true…I am in favor of algae liquified fuel as a crude oil replacement myself…goes hand in hand with the origins of “fossil fuel”…”intellectual power” is the answer…so the greatest minds will be thrown off the 13th floor in Switzerland one by one ????? How many alternative energy sources have been shelved before they have reached the public domain???Cold Water Fusion??Solar?? Wind??? If the events of 2012 cause the earth to suffer cataclysmic events what will happen to the nuclear sites worldwide??? just a thought??? I rather like Max’s emphasis on intellectual rights as the freedom he is most interested in saving/promoting…

Pollution and Carbon Dioxide are 2 different things
Global Warming:
A closer look at the numbers
http://www.geocraft.com/WVFossils/greenhouse_data.html
I agree 100% pollutions sucks pollution needs to be controlled but for a company to emit CO2 is harmless and should actually be the be the goal pure CO2 emissions without pollutants.
The issue with carbon dioxide and taxing is global warming this is a fraud and nothing more then a tax!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I propose a meteor tax which could save the lives of tens of millions of people, the world is under iminent threat of impact. This fund will be called Tits&Ass because thats what i like. Who would you rather give your money too? Blood&Gore or Tits&Ass.
