My personal view is that it is the pneumonic plague. Personal thoughts on America:
It is not the end of an empire but the fruition of the empire called Bretton Woods. The USA is linked to the empire Bretton Woods through the IMF, an arm of elite agenda. The BIS (Bank of International Settlements) now proferring solutions concerning the collapse of the international monetary system is the same entity that rode the financial power bridge before the storm hit. The people who are looking to profit from the collapse are the same people who designated the agency that provided the impetus for the downfall of the US economy. Make no mistake: the empire is not now dying. The phoenix to rise from the ashes is a conglomerate trade vehicle defined by Napoleonic law: codes. The UN is being used to legislate the change from British common law through treaties which supercede US Constitutional law. The BIS is set to mandate banking regulations through the Basel ii Capital Adequacy ratios: ratios which sparked the crisis in European banks in the spring of 2007. The plan is a move away from tangible currency and a credit-based corporate nation-state system to a international system based upon carbon credits. Every aspect of individual agency will be ruled by the carbon credit: enslavement to carbon viability will be the conduit for the fulfillment of Agenda 21. Money will not be a consideration: money is from the old paradigm. All areas of personal agency will be directed by the state. The G20 governing board of central bank heads will not look to sovereign leaders for direction but to those elite who stand behind the curtain of the ECB and the EU.
It is a bleak picture. The dollar is now at 75.25 against the dollar value index (basket). Gold is selling for 1118.5 an ounce. The string is taught: the collapse is certain. The US government is being run by those who consider themselves global citizens; the US as a sovereign entity no longer exists. The state and local governments US look set to proceed into bankruptcy due to profligate and unwise banking investment bonds. The US banking system is insolvent: the FDIC is bankrupt. Social security is bankrupt. Pensions were stolen from state coffers. The foreclosure crisis is not even at its peak. Unemployment is set to skyrocket with the loss of private business due to the CIT bankruptcy looming. US medical decisions are now proceeding from the WHO, a UN entity with global reach.
US schools will be aligning their schedule and curriculum with UNESCO, another UN entity. Our military now serves under NATO: a coalition of forces set to enforce decisions through the UN Security Council. President Obama was recently awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his rhetoric: words that showed a willingness to set aside US sovereign choice for the consensus of the UN Security council. Any decisions made by Obama in the time of his presidency have proceeded directly from UN Security council mandates or resolutions. The ‘war’ in Afghanistan knew genesis in 2001 due to a UN Security Council mandate: it has been extended because of UN resolutions. The President of the US is no longer the acting head of a sovereign republic.
The sdr, a basket of currencies used by the BIS to augment forex reserves recently @250B, is set to superceed the dollar as global reserve unit. The dollar fall is being manipulated at the level of the IMF through BIS control for the gradual dissolution of paper currency. There are no plans for a tangible replacement for the US dollar as reserve currency. The assets will be ‘demonetized’. Value will be dependent on an entirely new paradigm. Gold will not retain value as we understand value.
So you see, focus on the US at this point is idiotic. The US served the coalition forces well in dominating and colonizing the third world for Anglo-Dutch profit. Every nation in the world is now a slave to a central bank with a head of a spider in the vast web known as the BIS network. All nations are functioning under fiat currency regimes. There is no safe arena. There is no utopia. Unless those that are manipulating the sdr currency racket are stopped, total world chaos will ensue with the dollar becoming meaningless. Many many people will die.

The site most probably is aligning itself with the Stiglitz referendums coming out of the UN. Currency is superfluous and so is debt: the two partners worked in tandem for control.
Why not just return the means of production to the people of those countries? Why not allow the people control over their industrial capacity? Why not abolish the central bank web and allow the people, THE PEOPLE, the power to create their currency.

When I was in Miami in the 80′s, I asked my girlfriend to play tennis with me, as the courts in Bay Biscayne were mostly empty. She said Quote “What …. you’d be seen on a tennis court playing a woman ?” I laughed and said “you must be joking?”.

In March ca. 1971 , I played a Uni doubles tournament against the Town of Galway , Ireland. My partner was a junior Wimbledon Champ, and I’d only played occasionally.
The game was outside, and it even snowed a little.
I served underarm … rather than missing too many overarm services, and ou opponents thought I was taking the p*ss … and thus got very upset and disillusioned . My partner showed his class, and as long as I got all my (underarm) services “over” the net, we wiped the floor with them. I took the volleys up front, and my partner had the rest of the court. We won.
In contrast to the Miami scene, we “all” gathered in the bar and had a damn good laugh about it afterwards !

I remember playing squash with many Brits, that had so much intelligence and talent that they could probably have become world champs. These same people had OTOH a far deeper perspective on life than just becoming a sports hero.
I had a friend that played “raquets” ( the precursor of squash ). His “eye for the ball” was that of an eagle. We played once and actually had me running – which is unusual. I won . but only just ! That guy went on to Oxford to study.
Squash is a very exacting game.
Differences in classes result in 9:0 scores.
It is a mixture of chess, cunning and being able to visualize 3D as well as being able to concentrate 100% under the highest duress.
Geoff Hunt ( WW #1 in the 60s ) was measured for his oxygen intake .. and was comparable to that of a pentathlete. I played Roger Bannister ( 4-minute mile ) and lost 9:5 9:5 9:5 .. but he was after all Jonah Barrington’s trainer, until Jonah ran off with his wife.

@ frances – I know. I posted that NYT story last night. Most of us know how Washington works, yet there’s something extremely pathetic and just flat-out wrong about corporations and lobbyists writing even the floor speeches that our representatives give. I always thought that the purpose of congressional staff was to have a bunch of people on hand who have the time to really look into issues and help inform their boss. Now, I wonder what the purpose of having staffers is at all.
The corporations write the floor speeches, write the legislation, lobby each party for either yay or nay votes on said legislation, and fill the campaign coffers based on which legislators vote their way most often.
I really don’t know what to call such a system . . . corporatocracy is almost too sanitized of a word. It doesn’t go far enough to capture the rot at the center of Washington. It’s clear that the politicians are there to give the illusion of a functioning democracy.
About Roche being the parent company . . . that’s something more fucked up than just being “spooky.” That’s a Swiss corporation overriding our entire system of government and setting domestic policy here in the US.
When you figure out how to mobilize the angry mobs, let me know. This bastardization of governance needs to go down.

@ frances – I wish I were a leader. I’m just as lost as anyone else where fighting back is concerned. There are some little ways I’ve devised to pull back from banks and corporations, but politics is another thing.
Right now, I’m working on a what-the-fuck-is-the-matter-with-you packet to send my “representatives” –filled with data about inequality and filled with criticisms of the laws and policies that have but put in place so far by this Congress, which are destined to make inequality worse. If they actually read it, good, but chances are that unless I do a good job of explaining to them how their actions hurt THEM and their ability to hold onto power, they won’t listen. It’ll just be another time-suck for me, and the powerless I feel over their stupidity and my inability to do anything about it will just make me angrier.
What needs to happen is for the teaparty crowd, the progressives/liberals, and everybody else to come together. I don’t know how that could best be accomplished. But I know that if we stand any chance, it has to happen.

When the news of tungsten “salted” gold bars in Hong Kong first surfaced, many people who I am acquainted with automatically assumed that these bars were manufactured in China – because China is generally viewed as “the knock-off capital of the world”. . . . .
And here’s what the Chinese allegedly uncovered:
Roughly 15 years ago – during the Clinton Administration [think Robert Rubin, Sir Alan Greenspan and Lawrence Summers] – between 1.3 and 1.5 million 400 oz tungsten blanks were allegedly manufactured by a very high-end, sophisticated refiner in the USA [more than 16 Thousand metric tonnes]. Subsequently, 640,000 of these tungsten blanks received their gold plating and WERE shipped to Ft. Knox and remain there to this day. I know folks who have copies of the original shipping docs with dates and exact weights of “tungsten” bars shipped to Ft. Knox. The balance of this 1.3 million – 1.5 million 400 oz tungsten cache was also plated and then allegedly “sold” into the international market.
Apparently, the global market is literally “stuffed full of 400 oz salted bars”.
in early 2008 it was reported that at least some of the gold bars in the vaults at the National Bank of Ethiopia were fake. The discovery was made when bars shipped from Ethiopia to South Africa were returned after they were identified as being gilded steel. Gilded steel is a very unconvincing form of fake gold because the density of the iron alloy is significantly less. A steel bar identical in volume to the standard 400 troy ounce gold bars commonly used in bank-to-bank trades would weigh only 162.5 troy ounces (about sixty percent lighter). Anyone familiar with handling gold bars would easily identify them as counterfeit.

Getting rid of most of the population solves the global warming issue. Gold works as a currency with less people.
How do they get rid of the population? Vaccine with adjuvents to lower immune systems, followed by the plague. You have to admire the simple elegance of their plan – swine flu (virus) scare story to persuade folk to take the vaccine, then introduce the plague (bacterial).

@ PaulH – Part of anyone’s survival plan should be making sure that the people around them have their heads above water, too. I hope that everybody storing up on food is also making an effort to support local farmers in one way or another. We all need somebody to supply what we can’t grow on our own (and what will become very expensive to buy at the store once food prices shoot up b/c of high energy prices). I found a local community supported agriculture group to join–am looking forward to meeting some new people and chipping in some hours working on the farm.
