[PMF] Where’s Kenny Boy?

Stacy Summary:  The film is 95% pre-sold.  My hope is that we will begin filming this in early February.  While the story will look at the actual circumstances of Lay’s death, it will be a film much broader in scope that relates also to what is happening in the financial system today.

It would be nice if AJE or Press TV ran some of these, as the Canadian economic decline is virtually unheard of — even in Australia and NZ.

This series of documentaries should be running on SBS in Australia and TVNZ 7 for at least 3 months.

GDP is a new web documentary project co-produced by the NFB’s English and French programs. In an effort to put a human face on the economic crisis, 8 directors and 8 photographers across the country will capture the stories of Canadians coping with an unprecedented global event. More than 250 films and photo essays, plus an ongoing series of comments, will be viewable over the course of the next year.

Here’s a link to a trailer and website for the film The Prosecution of George Bush for Murder:

They seem to be following Max’s Pirate My Film style of raising money, but they’re trying for $1000000. I plan to donate.

  8. I take that back about PMF style for that film. There’s no sharing of profits involved.

  9. @Max

I think you should make it possible to choose what currency you want to be funded in for pmf..Its kind of a shaky arrangement now isn’t it?

    I hate yo today

  11. Maybe there could be an aside about Cliff Baxter, the Enron VP who was found suicided in his driveway to the mystification of his family.

  12. Hi Max,
I was listening to your recent radio show.
Have you listened to this audiobook?
“Conceived in Liberty” is a history of colonial America in three volumes. The last chapter deals with the leadup to the American Revolution. The story is all about the struggle between the people and the feudal oligarchs.

  13. Plastic surgeons might be a good source of ad revenue.

I wonder if anyone has looked for him on a certain ranch in Paraguay.

  14. I’m glad that WIKB is nearly moving forward, although my suggestion to Max & Stacy is: Take care to avoid putting yourselves in harm’s way. N.B.: You can buy a Kevlar vest on Ebay for $350.

I wonder if there is any chance of building a grassroots effort of Paraguayans who are sympathetic and who can launch an effort on their native soil to locate Ken Lay.

  15. Michael Le Couteur, MSCD ret'd

To bad the security cost would be too much to go and actually look for him. Not that he would be found. A face change, a house on a nice ranch in Paraguay surroundeed by a private army makes it hard. I can only hope it ends with a chance encounter with someone screaming, “SZELL” or “LAY” and he dies….painfully and slowly. Are you really safe Kenny boy?

  16. I would be interested in knowing why corporations and their accounting firms are or were allowed to have two sets of books……..a set that is legit and a set that is fake.

  17. There you go! 100%

Crude by Joe Berlinger (2009, 105 min). Go inside the story of the “Amazon Chernobyl” case, in which 30,000 indigenous Amazon rainforest dwellers filed a lawsuit against corporate giant Chevron-Texaco: the oil company fights allegations of increasing health problems, birth defects, and destruction of their indigenous way of life. Although our sympathy lies with the indigenous people and their lawyer, Pablo Fajardo, Berlinger presents this epic environmental law cases from multiple points of view, including interviews with Chevron-Texaco’s lawyer and environmental scientists. The case, whose battleground spread from the court to the jungle and to three different continents, grew to epic proportions, attracting media attention and celebrity involvement. “Rarely have such conflicts been examined with the depth and power of Crude. These real characters and events play out on the screen like a sprawling legal thriller” (Stephen Holden, The New York Times).
