Stacy Summary: Hmmm. This is the second Wall Street destroying democracy meme in as many days. Honestly, I think they are using wrong tense of word; I think democracy has already been destroyed. Between this headline and yesterdays’ headline from Strauss-Kahn, they leave out hope that somehow it can all be fixed from the state in which we find ourselves. What do you think?

Democracy is a terrible system, and the people never really had it.
It’s always been a dictatorship of sorts,..e.g. Culture creation departments dictate how the populace are going to behave, by introducing certain ideologies into the public arena through MSM,..ad infinitum.
There has always been a central hub of managers behind the scenes deciding how to organize society.
The process is just more refined ( I mean,..they’ve had thousands of years of practice)
Quite the gig!!

Hey Max and Stacey Howcome you guys only offer your Site in English ?
Chinese would be a good start ???
Just a thought. Aaso ! from “Mind your Language” ofc that was the Japanese dude who kept saying that
Google Translation could allow this site to be read outside of English, but the idiomatic biz and finance text may not survive intact.

This morning the headline is “Housing market bottomed, Case-Shiller index has uptick.” This after ignoring last week’s news about another record # of foreclosures. I guess interpreting real data is too hard, they need a single index to judge everything by. It’s just like the Dollar Index, how people obsess over it without ever checking the internal contents.

Yes. Private security corporations will soon be policing the world. No accountability.

I enjoy hearing Dan Hannan speak.
@Phil,…..And the sad fact is,..if you hadn’t have brought my attention to it,.I wouldn’t have known.
So where does that put the rest of the population?
No one knows fk all basically,..they just keep on a chewin’ and a bleetin’ (Not meant in a derogatory way)
@dan valley
Er… half right!!!
sadly the only way you can get americans to get up and do something about wallstreet is if god says that wallstreet is bad…why do you think lord blankcheck made the preemptive statement about doing gods work..
@frances & Dedo
Yes Dan Hannah is brilliant .. like throwing Pearls to the Swine.
I repeat …
While America is just finding out what a Federal Govt. really means , the EU is busy trying to copy them !
Sheesh !
@frances snoot – I enjoy hearing Dan Hannan speak.
You should have seen him on BBC’s Newsnight. He looked like he was going to blow. One very angry politician. I like to see politicians get angry. One little step further and they might say what they really think.
“What interests me about the whole episode is the way in which the EU is able to subvert the domestic behaviour of politicians to advance its aims”

@frances … “; I think democracy has already been destroyed. Between this headline and yesterdays’ headline from Strauss-Kahn, they leave out hope that somehow it can all be fixed from the state in which we find ourselves.”
Sure .. she’s right
95% of the masses have become so dumbed down with consumer toys and school indoctrination that it’s no wonder.
A complete distrust of Politicians has created (dangerous) apathy ; nobody feels they can change the system because they think it’s become so complex .. or Thx to MSM made to look complex.
Of course the same age old principle applies: power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
And that’s the simple truth … the FRAUD is easily covered up by MSM by blinding the public with (so-called) science, whether it’s Global Warming, Financial Instruments, Failout Funds etc. etc.
Makes me wanna puke … Hannah , like Ron Paul, are the VERY rare honest politicians … VERY rare !
@frances snoot … Did you see this?
Yes, saw it yesterday in the German news.
When the US left Germany, 70 Bio$ of spending – per annum – disappeared from local communities.
I feel sorry for the guys in a way …
.. they had a cushy job for years, and will now probably end up in Afghanistan .. where they should NOT be !
I believe we are experiencing a process of independence as a collective. We are discovering the basic fraud of which our lives depended on since the monetary system came off of the gold standard. Now the Anglo banks have tried to move into a position of advantage without any real leverage.
Humanity has been sold a lie when it comes to the basis Gregorian billing calendar. We are working with a clock to which there is NO spiritual translation, unlike the Mayans, Essene Civilizations whom where obedient to the cycles of time. So while humanity has been a slave to the Gregorian calendar for so long, under the changing tactics of the Anglo Empire, we have finally met our toxic emotional peak. Not dealing with our own conscienceness for hundreds of years at the request/conquer of the Empire is going to make our so-called ‘civilized’ world easy to manipulate due to the toxicity of our own suppressed & projected fears. This process is to cleanse all forms of dependency that have been built up all around us to keep us enslaved. Hence, all man’s suffering will come from man.
@Photoception–This morning the headline is “Housing market bottomed, Case-Shiller index has uptick.”
Our caring government wants us all to believe that the bottom is in. They own just about all the inventory and would be more than happy for a stupid asshole to come on in a buy one of their homes. Christ, they will even give you a eye popping tax credit. Yes, our economy is all better, thanks to Timmy and his friends locking in rates at zero.
Most can buy a home with minimal $$ down, and 96% of mortgages are from our caring gov. If home prices come down to where they need to be it would bankrupt the financial institutions the gov bailed out. So, they make an offer to buy a home and be a patriot for our government.
Debt, the American way … (to slavery)
@dan valley
YOU!… Did you mean us on this site… because I get really confused sometimes… er… your use of the use of the word ‘YOU’ as in ‘the only way you can get people’ is it like when people use the word ‘WE’ but live in another country and they want somebody else to do something for them… at least when people use the word ‘THEY’ it’s a lot easier to tell how distanced they are!!!
@Phil:
The US was set up to be a republic, not a democracy.
This guy is totally unrealistic:

The Crusades
An excellent report / documentary on Richard the Lionheart yesterday in German TV ( 02:00 am as usual ).
It laid out the argument of why Saladin actually had the rights to Jerusalem and not Richard. .. and I agree.
Richard was also NOT convinced that taking Jerusalem was wise, but was pressured by the Church.
He got close to attacking twice but retreated and having doubts. He the tried to compromise by oofering a blond English wench to marry to Saladin’s brother, but Saladin didn’t buy it.
BTW, in Saladin’s early “taking” of Jerusalem, he spared the lives of the Christians living there. It was such that Moslems , Jews and Christians lived in harmony under Saladin .. it was the Roman church that was intolerant.
ca. 1197 – 1199
In 1207, the Knight Templars were of course murdered by the French King … in order to get their riches, being himself broke. He would have preferred to kick the Catholic church out ( they were even richer in land ownership ), but chose the easier route of picking on the Templars.
FWIW
My guess, Phil, is that the cartel wants to disarm the rival Afghan militias. Messy.
“The conversation settled around sending about 30,000 more American troops, two officials said, the first of whom would deploy early next year to be in place in southern or eastern Afghanistan by the spring. The troop reinforcements would likely be sent in waves, according to an official speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss war strategy.”
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/11/24/afghan-address-in-one-week/?hp
Later the article says closer to 40,000.
@Phil:
Ron Paul knows that the only way to return the power to coin to Congress would be a civil war: or really a war against the colonizing force of the currency cartel which has our government as a proxy arm.
There is no plan, really. End the Fed is really a euphemism for the FSAP for the US under IMF direction. We’re being played like the British tories. I like the way Hannan speaks, but I don’t know the man well enough to tell you if he’s ‘honest’.
If honest means representing oneself as true to the rhetorical advance of one’s words: then yes, both men are honest.
It’s all about communication. The loyalists live in a world of dreams.
Someone should fax this to Jake Towne:

@frances ..Afghanistan
IMO, they ( the West ) are only there to steal resources and use their country to prevent Russia or China from becoming stronger in the region.
What is funny, is – just like Iraq – they keep changing their reasons for being there. First it was Al Quaida, then it was Afghan women’s rights etc, then it was the Taliban … and never once did they tell the real reasons for being there.
My guess is that China and Russia will not stand by idly , let alone Pakistan’s “people” – i.e. I expect more unrest in Pakistan because of all this war crap.

Call on the IMF and World Bank to reform the FSAP to improve its

Reiterate our commitment to undertake an FSAP report, noting that
improvements to the FSAP should assist individual members in
adhering to such commitments.

Phil, see “Kingdom of Heaven” for a good retelling of what you are describing. Ridley Scott at his best. Not cast real well but its a great piece of historical fiction non the less.
@Phil:
“Merkel’s government called on parliament to extend the mandate allowing German soldiers to serve under NATO’s International Security Assistance force in Afghanistan. They also agreed on extensions for two other mandates covering German military missions in the Horn of Africa and off the coast of Lebanon, though with reduced troop numbers.”

Leading the International Security Assistance Force in
Afghanistan
In the immediate aftermath of the terrorist attacks against New York and
Washington, DC, the United States launched Operation Enduring Freedom,
a counter-terrorist operation in Afghanistan, which was complemented two
months later by the UN-mandated International Security Assistance Force
(ISAF). The ultimate aim of ISAF is to help lead Afghanistan out of nearly four
decades of authoritarian rule, foreign occupation and civil war, which had made
Afghan territory a suitable base for the training of terrorists. Initially, individual
countries assumed command of the force on a rotational basis, with technical
support from NATO. However, NATO took over full responsibility for its leader-
ship, resolving the issue of continuity, in August 2003. In autumn 2003, the UN
Security Council adopted a new resolution that authorised the expansion of
ISAF’s operations to areas outside Kabul through Provincial Reconstruction
Teams (PRTs).
NATO is progressively taking over a growing number of PRTs in different
parts of Afghanistan, and although the UN mandate clearly stipulates that the
ISAF mission is to assist the Government of Afghanistan in providing a safe
and secure environment conducive to free and fair elections, the spread of the
rule of law, and the reconstruction of the country NATO’s role in Afghanistan
can also be considered as part of NATO’s efforts to combat terrorism. There are
ongoing debates to examine to what extent greater synergy can be achieved
between Operation Enduring Freedom and ISAF, especially since a number of
NATO countries provide forces and equipment to both.
http://www.nato.int/docu/handbook/2006/hb-en-2006.pdf
http://www.nato.int/ISAF/
Here’s why I said they wanted to disarm the opposing militias:
“support the Afghan government to Disarm Illegally Armed Groups (DIAG)”
http://www.nato.int/isaf/topics/mandate/index.html
This is interesting:
“However, ISAF is not a UN force. It is a coaliton of the willing deployed under the authority of the UN Security Council. 40 nations throughout the world currently contribute to ISAF.”
COALITION OF THE WILLING!!!
@Y’all
Ex Pats… ya have to laugh… not … you can’t freeze a country or place in time… and think you have anything very relevant to say… I think europeans opinions about america are limited at best and insulting and meaningless most generally…. a bit like these people who try to make points about england but the only reference they have is some experience from the 60′s or 70′s or 80′s… countries move on and are living and breathing things… Ex Pats they run away but can’t let go or they should commit competely to their new home… and from an english perspective…. Ex Pats aint english… it’s just like a snow globe in your mind… I made the same point to Stacy once and asked why they don’t have a french show…. her reply about not knowing enough about the culture… I thought was a pretty feeble reply… I mean the TAM NZ show proves that!!!
@frances … COALITION OF THE WILLING!!!
Germany : The German constitution forbids aggressive acts of war , and only allows the “Bundeswehr” to defend their own land.
Of course, Politicians these days think nothing of changed their rules to suit themselves.
I’d like to see Merkel on the battle front with her family and friends setting an example to the others she sends there to die.
Things have certainly changed since 1197 !
@Phil:
I keep thinking about an email someone sent me with a photo of a US soldier in a tent in Afghanistan holding a child with a scar on his head. They were both sleeping. Apparently, the child’s whole family was killed and the small one could not sleep alone. The photo was supposed to elicit sympathy for our troops, ‘the good guys’.
That kind of mentality permeates America.
If all men would stand up and refuse to fight in a war for profit, then the child would still have his family.
Merkel, Obama, Brown, Sarkozy have all sealed their hearts from feeling.
I find Obama’s patriotic acting play-acting sickening.
Do you think the people on top care?
Can you believe that any decent person would do this to another? The state has money for banquet dinners but not this situation?
Boynton nursing home takes patient to homeless shelter
“I begged and pleaded with them to give me a few days to find some place for her,” Hodges said.
According to witnesses, ManorCare did exactly what it said it was going to do, loading up Thai Hodges and driving her to the Westgate Tabernacle homeless shelter Thursday night.
“She was in tears when she got here,” said shelter coordinator Sylvia Negley. “She didn’t know what was going on.”

@If all men would stand up and refuse to fight in a war for profit, then the child would still have his family. // I find Obama’s patriotic acting play-acting sickening.
Yep … was effectively going to ask the same.
e.g.
If the “comfortable masses” of today were suddenly told to join the Army to fight some war, I wonder how fast they would protest.
It would hit them like a brick.
On one day, they’re making tea in the office, the next day, they’re grabbing a rifle for warfare training.
I would imagine that they’ll pick on the 18 yr. olds first for conscription .
Do you remember Vietnam ?
A guy that used to work for me was 4 years in Vietnam.
He told me if you were 18 and didn’t have a place at University, you were automatically called up !
Can anyone confirm that ( in the US of course ) ?
@Dante:
Good Lord! How heartless!!! What are the old folk to do?
@Phil;
Yes, that’s the way it was. Did you read, “The Things They Carried.” Great book: author used Joseph Conrad’s literary technique to good purpose!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Things_They_Carried
@frances snoot … Yes, that’s the way it was.
Sheesh … No wonder there were protests !
I would have changed my passport to somewhere else under those circumstances .. what a fascist system. I mean, it is not like they were called up to “defend” America .. but I suppose it was the paranoic fear of communism.

Apparently the draft never ended after WW2!
@frances .. Thanks … looks like a Govt. Criminal Record …
Wow, the guts of Paul Farrell. “Balls of solid rock.” If I were him, I would be checking my six constantly after writing that scorcher. Bullies/Wallstreet losers are dangerous criminals. Know it, live it, be it.
@Phil- Indeed, the Vietnam-era draft was for all men (boys) 18 years and older. My high school class (1976) lucked out- the draft had ended two years before. But as a child and teen, I watched the young men go away to south-east Asia. Some returned, most with broken bodies or broken minds. Yes, that is why there were so many protests, unless one was in college, disabled, or “knew someone”, they were sent off to the jungles. We got to see, on the TV, the flag-draped coffins returning, year after year. Some childhood.
@norcalkid … yes , absolutely disgusting for both sides .
Was anyone in the Govt. jailed ? .. of course not.
Democracy has to be stolen first in order to steal the unaccountable power to steal the money. That is why our leaders do not listen to the majority. I am so pleased Germany’s leaders rejected the purposely evidence-free e-voting machines. (hopefully, computerized scanners and tabulators too, correct?)
And, people are trying to return evidence to voting to recover our democracy, economy, media, education and climate:
Bev Harris at http://www.blackboxvoting.org
http://electiondefensealliance.org/
http://velvetrevolution.us/
Lynn Landes at http://thelandesreport.com/VotingSecurity.htm and who has owned and pushed these intentionally hackable computers
“Making matters worse, our public voting system has been privatized and outsourced to a handful of domestic, foreign, and multi-national corporations, most of whom have close ties to the right wing of the Republican Party. Just two companies, ES&S and Diebold, started by two brothers, Bob and Todd Urosevich, electronically process (using touchscreen machines or optical scanners), 80% of all votes. Their employees are in a perfect position to rig elections nation-wide. And evidence is mounting that elections in America have been computer programmed to prefer conservative candidates of both political parties.”
http://thelandesreport.com/VotingMachineCompanies.htm
Hand count paper ballot evidence at the polls on election night to restore democracy.
When most citizens in a nation don’t have a reasonable adult understanding of how the world works, how could their votes produce anything positive anyways?
@ Daniel S
An interesting observation.
I worry that this might be why “education for all” might be so restricted.
I’ll say no more.
