  1. Gold Likely To Correct In Price Because

Well the FED has tried to lie about ending quantative easing and it didn’t work to suppress the gold price [inflation trade]. They have a new [every old actually] gambit to fool the markets which will probably work in the very short term and get gold to correct down. How much who knows, but don’t sell unless you must or this may be your last real buying opportunity in the second leg of the gold bull.

I hate to post long post as most don’t ever read them, but this is important and I have seen no commentary which I can link to on this subject. So you will have to read my stuff until others catch on to their ploy. First read these links. The first explains repo’s and the second is a news story which tells about yesterday’s “First Test” of the FED’s new lie, and probably is the reason your are seeing a decline in the gold price.

Repurchase agreement – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

FT.com / US & Canada – ‘Reverse repo’ tool is tested live for first time

The headline from the news article proves that even these financial writers are newbies and may not understand what is going on with the FED. Repo’s have, in the past, been used by the FED all the time but in the last several years with massive money printing they have become rare, at least they are no longer reported in the media as they once were.

A RR [reverse repo] does indeed drain money from the banking system but the usual RR is usually an “overnight” adjustment made by the FED. These repo’s to be effective must have durations of much longer than just overnight. So you can count on these RR having much longer durations.

The question is: Is this the end of Quantative Easing? No way as these RR’s must eventually be ended as that is what they are, to be repurchased and ended. Now all sorts of mischief can be created and lies told with these RR’s. Technically the FED could RR its entire growth in its balance sheet, which would drain all the money out of the banks. This would of course cause interest rates to skyrocket so don’t think that they would try to go this far.

This is just another lie in a “brand-old suit.” As the security collateral never leaves the FED’s balance sheet in the first place they are not reducing Quantative Easing but merely adjusting the level somewhat.

In the olden days the FED used repo’s and reverse repo’s to fine tune the amount of funds which the banks had on hand. This “quaint” notion of fine tuning became absurd when they added $1.5 trillion to their balance sheet in just weeks so you haven’t heard much about repo’s recently.

The best analogy that I can think of for this FED action is this: The entire spillway of the Hoover Dam has been opened flooding the entire lower Colorado Basin and much of Los Angeles under mountains of worthless paper. The use of reverse repo’s in this ongoing operation is like using an “eye dropper” to adjust the flow.

This is yet another lie being told to the markets but this one will probably have a temporary psychological effect downward on the gold price [inflation trade]. But cheer up buck-o’s it will end soon and gold will march ever upward until it probably reaches infinity.

May be this is how the £ & $ get killed, everone goes for higher rates, but UK/Us can not.

  3. You would think that the government in the US would print up 1 billion USD in 100s and give it to these bankers as a reward for having to bail them out.

If you think about how America is actually run — the fact that this has not happened hints at even deeper levels of internal systemic failure.

  4. That is 1 billion USD in paper cash per banking CEO per year, per previous post.

  5. the hedge funds, like John Paulson (now owner of 150 tons of gold) have the power to bust the comex.

    will they?

they have no political affiliation and like Soros who broke the British Pound in ’93 know how much money you can make when you bust up a gov’t sponsored price rigging scheme like the one we see on the Comex.

HONG KONG (MarketWatch) — China has made no major changes in the allocation of currencies that comprise its foreign exchange reserves, sticking to the status quo of the U.S. dollar as the centerpiece of its $2.3 trillion stockpile, a senior forex official in Beijing was cited as saying Friday.

Wang Xiaoyi vice director of China’s State Administration of Foreign Exchange said the depreciation of the U.S. dollar was a “long-term trend” but downplayed concerns China would abandon the defacto global reserve currency any time soon.

“The composition (of China’s forex reserves) remains as it was before. There is no major change,” Wang was cited as saying in a report by Dow Jones Newswires.

  20. @M … he took a long time to get to the point !
    ;-)

I am very sure that most Chinese Financial Officers have “The Creature from Jekyll Island” as their Bible !
.. and watch Max, Schiff, Celente, Black, Ruppert etc. constantly !
    ;-)

… In other words, to fully remonetize to gold, China (or any country, even the US with Fort Knox), will have to devalue its currency. The entire event obviously devalues all fiat currencies against gold, because it sends the price from $1000 an ounce to something more like $20,000. But since the US has a huge hoard of gold, the dollar needs to devalue less against gold than other currencies, such as the yuan. Thus, in any full remonetization, China must devalue the yuan against the dollar.

… And ideally a you’ve gone all the way to a 100%-reserve hard-money standard, which means no more booms and busts. So, when I propose remonetization, what I’m saying to central bankers is the equivalent of saying to a heroin addict: after a hit of this junk, you’ll feel so high for so long, you’ll never want to shoot up again! If you can find a junkie who wouldn’t take this offer, your country has some very unusual junkies.

… Therefore, if Cheng Siwei and Hu Xiaolian follow my advice, join the bubble instead of fighting it, and unilaterally remonetize with devaluation, China should experience the following results:

First: dramatic stimulus to the Chinese economy.

Second: dramatic inflow of gold into China.

Third: dramatic, but temporary, inflation, in the context of boom conditions and general prosperity.

Fourth: eventual stabilization, with China a wealthy First World country which is the world’s financial and industrial leader.

Fifth: large gold-plated statues of Cheng Siwei and Hu Xiaolian are erected all over China.

Canadian Tire is adding a $1 coin to the famous multicoloured bills considered by many as the country’s unofficial second currency.

Canadian Tire Corp. announced Wednesday it will begin offering the new addition this weekend for a time-limited period. Customers will get the coin if they spend $25 or more.

Canadian Tire money, which debuted in 1958, can be used like cash at the retailer’s stores and gas bars. It was previously available in denominations between five cents and $2, all stamped with the grinning image of Sandy McTire, the company’s tam-o’-shanter bedecked and mustachioed fictional character.

The $1 coin will be manufactured at the Royal Canadian Mint, just like its official cousins, the loonie and the toonie.

Global Norming Concensus Proves Climate Strange Is Real
    December 2nd, 2009 by admin
Using a highly reliable measuring system know as the five senses, human beings in their billions have come to the conclusion, that the only certainty about the weather on planet earth, is that it keeps on changing in very strange ways. Some times hot, sometimes cold, sometimes wet, sometimes dry. This mind blowing discovery that affects all our lives has been dubbed Global Norming. Otherwise know as Climate Strange. What effects this will have on future generations nobody knows, but one thing everyone agrees on is that the effects of Global Norming will be devastating.

Canada gained surprising 79,000 jobs in November

    http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2009/12/04/unemployment-november.html

Canada added 79,000 jobs last month as the country’s unemployment rate dipped 0.1 percentage points to 8.5 per cent.

Statistics Canada said Friday that full-time employment increased by 39,000 in November, the third consecutive monthly increase, while part-time employment grew by 40,000, following two months of declines.

The job growth far surpassed the consensus expectations of economists, who had been projecting the creation of 15,000 jobs, and for the unemployment rate to rise to 8.7 per cent.

In October, the country shed 43,200 jobs as the national unemployment rate came in at 8.6 per cent.

Statistics Canada said almost all the job growth last month was attributable to the service sector, which added 73,000 jobs. Within that sector, roughly 38,000 positions were created in educational services.

Employment in the goods-producing sector showed little change in November.

  75. “I’m Tired” by Robert A. Hall”

I’ll be 63 soon. Except for one semester in college when jobs were scarce,` and a six-month period when I was between jobs, but job-hunting every day, I’ve worked, hard, since I was 18. Despite some health challenges, I still put in 50-hour weeks, and haven’t called in sick in seven or eight years. I make a good salary, but I didn’t inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, there’s no retirement in sight, and I’m tired. Very tired.

I’m tired of being told that I have to “spread the wealth around” to people` who don’t have my work ethic. I’m tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy or stupid to earn it.

I’m tired of being told that I have to pay more taxes to “keep people in their homes.” Sure, if they lost their jobs or got sick, I’m willing to help. But if they bought McMansions at three times the price of our paid-off, $250,000 condo, on one-third of my salary, then let the left-wing Congress-critters who passed Fannie and Freddie and the Community Reinvestment Act that created the bubble help them with their own money.

I’m tired of being told how bad America is by left-wing millionaires like Michael Moore, George Soros, and Hollywood entertainers who live in luxury because of the opportunities America offers. In thirty years, if they get their way, the United States will have the economy of Zimbabwe , the freedom of the press of China , the crime and violence of Mexico , the tolerance for Christian people of Iran , and the freedom of speech of Venezuela . Won’t multiculturalism be beautiful?

I’m tired of being told that Islam is a “Religion of Peace,” when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family “honor”; of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren’t “believers”; of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for “adultery”; of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur’an and Shari’a law tells them to.

I believe “a man should be judged by the content of his character, not by the color of his skin.” I’m tired of being told that “race doesn’t matter” in the post-racial world of Obama, when it’s all that matters in affirmative action jobs, lower college admission and graduation standards for minorities (harming them the most), government contract set-asides, tolerance for the ghetto culture of violence and fatherless children that hurts minorities more than anyone, and in the appointment of US Senators from Illinois.

  76. Dollar reaching for the stars!

  77. @Joe

    Good question

IMO the original Bretton Woods and the analysis via Triffins Dilemma set the US on the road to collapse, it was inevitable, no single country can maintain their global reserve status. The issue is how long can they keep charade going, the destiny was set long ago. The US moved from the engine to the drag on global growth.

Simply, they cannot expand their internal debt in a ratio to satisfy what is needed to maintain global reserve status. Result, currency devaluation. Without that global reserve status, the standard of living in the US will drop significantly. The artificial free ride is over.

  90. I shit my pants as I wait for the reaper
    Lie in fetal position
    Tears stream down my cheeks
As I call out for my mother
And say an act of contrition
We’ll fight this war with germs and atoms
    Destroy our only home
Our mutated descendants battle the next
    With sticks and stones

    Are we not savages
Innately destined to maim and kill?
    Blame it on the environment
Heredity or evolution we’re still responsible
    Our intelligence may progress
    At geometric rates
Yet socially we remain belligerent neonates

  91. @WL
Good post – Very true it was in the making for a long time – Bernanke instead of hitting the wall at a slower pace put the peddle to the metal & now is going to hit it much harder and faster – make sure you have your seat belts on folks

  92. @Youri,….Black ops,…not exactly breaking news is it!
(suppose it’s good entertainment for the masses)
Top Obama puppet masters didn’t even know! wooo,..intrigue and suspense lol : )

    @WL:
    Nice post.

“The cow has been milked to its end, now they are scrambling to find a new “global” cow. GOT MILK”

Do you think there will be one country milked in their post-industrial world or are they planning on milking herds spread over the entire globe? (Is that what you meant by ‘global’ cow?) Doesn’t it seem that Africa has been quietly carved up for sovereign or corporate interest recently with Africom set to patrol and nary a peep of protest from the liberal press?

Don’t you see the future of America as a continued milking, but with fewer cows and a lower fat percentage to the milk?

Why don’t we hear about Monsanto and the travesty of this corporation?

Globalism is being wielded as a weapon of genocide. Globalism is meant to usher in the post-industrial playground for the elite.

“I’m tired of being told that Islam is a “Religion of Peace,” when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family “honor”; of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren’t “believers”; of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for “adultery”; of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur’an and Shari’a law tells them to.”

I’m tired of listening to anti-Muslim rants from white idiots.

  95. frances snoot

    @DanValley:
Why don’t those who worry about ficticious Muslim girls turn and see the slave-trade of girls in the Mormon church here to home?

  96. @Snoots….Short of a darwinian shit storm of violence carfully brought about by our betters….wheres the exit to this funhouse?

  97. @frances – Dan valley
Lets just put it this way – religious zealots come in every breed and color. The ones that usually have a finer understanding of religion are usually peaceful. Religion can be used as a scapegoat when terrible atrocities occur and can be heralded used when acts of generosity and peace are done.

  98. These are not views I hold…..I just shared them.

  99. @Dan
I understand – i was just elaborating some

  100. Where Bernanke got his new strategy…withdraw a little liquidity over here, and while everyone’s watching that, do something else over there…

  102. @frances

You know I agree with you, I just don’t’ know if they will succeed easily, these transitional periods are very unpredictable.

Simply, Farming Human productivity keeps the elites rich and in power. The trick, create the illusion of freedom.

Free range Humans are more productive.

  103. @dan valley – yeah, well, I’d appreciate it if you don’t share the thoughts of ugly racists on this site; there were several people who ‘innocently’ shared similar thoughts by Hal Turner; and I don’t want our site to be a frigging stalking ground for the police state seeking ignorant and anonymous f*^ks:

    http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Report-FBI-paid-controversial-apf-120149424.html?x=0&.v=1

New Jersey blogger about to stand trial on charges he made death threats against federal judges apparently was paid by the FBI in its battle against domestic terrorism, according to a published report.

The Record of Bergen County reported Sunday that Hal Turner received thousands of dollars from the FBI to report on neo-Nazis and white supremacist groups and was sent undercover to Brazil.

Turner also claims the FBI coached him to make racist, anti-Semitic and other threatening statements on his radio show, but the newspaper also found many federal officials were concerned that his audience might follow up on his violence rhetoric.

  104. @will…..the old withdraw before climax play ..

  105. Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family “honor”;

We can’t leave the funhouse until we go through the hall of mirrors. After that bit one must choose, but the senses may have undergone a bit of a shelling. Choice may be hard to make: I opt for this exit:

  109. @dan valley – well then don’t post his entire rant without comment in a non-jibber jabber entry; even within the context you say you were trying to highlight, doesn’t fit into the topic on this thread . . .

  110. @snoots good luck with that ….and peace be with you.

@Stacy…………..yeah well dont forget to wash your hands before supper…most importantly use lots of toilet paper…never let people know that you shit or could smell like it if you weren’t to careful.Sorry, no saving face on that one.

That ugly rant is what many use to justify American aggression in Afghanistan and Pakistan. It sings ignorant.

You did well to point this out. It is lovely to think that this site will not tolerate racism!

I’ve learned a lot sharing ideas, but no one needs to share hate. It’s pointless.

  114. Thats why tsoooo important where u place your Tserver’s RODFL ;-)
yall should watch Russell Peters hes too funny In my guesstimates top five all time and hes the first Indian comedian to make it in the English Arena of stand up comedy

  115. @snoot….and would it have been soooo much more acceptable if I had said this was part of a FW email making the rounds?

Only part mind you as the rest of it was even ore ignorant

  116. frances snoot

    @DanValley:
I think you are finally taking something too personally. All your posts are relevant in my estimation. I objected to the man’s words: not you. I think Stacy was delineating what she would like to see in future, not singling you out.

  117. frances snoot

Maybe it was a good thing you pointed it out, Dan. I think Stacy does not want her site sullied with the idea that racism is tolerated, that’s all. Nobody is claiming you agree with the man.

Goodness, looks like war propoganda to me. My mother told me she was tainted in mind her whole life from the war propoganda against the Asians in WW2. She said she couldn’t help it because it happened when she was young.

This is the something new that was added…there were several people who ‘innocently’ shared similar thoughts by Hal Turner…if that was stated initially I wouldnt have taken it personally..

    @Joe:
Sounds like IMF austerity programs to me. Guess we get to taste what America has done to the rest of the world now. Guess it’s not pleasant.

  126. Dylan Ratigan had Chistine Romer on his show earlier. He was trying to find out from her if there is any talk in the White House about a windfall tax on bank profits. It was really awkward; she kept reverting to worn-out rhetoric about how the WH cares about Main St., how they understand the gravity of the situation for the middle class, and how they’ve tried to get money to smaller community banks. When Ratigan pinned her down and asked her simply if they were talking about a windfall profits tax, she wouldn’t answer… said that she didn’t want to get ahead of policy, which sounded to me like “no, we haven’t considered it.”

@ Youri – Saw that yesterday. It’s quite remarkable that Bernacke had all kinds of ideas about going after Social Security and Medicare, but was mum when someone asked him if it would be appropriate to increase taxes on the wealthy. If he’s comfortable talking about entitlement policies, why not tax policies? Sadly, he’ll probably be re-confirmed because he made those comments.

  127. @snoots….just sad a bit….I like this site and my wife also…shes thai/chinese and our kids have no concept of race differentiation…other than my dads american and my moms thai…..I used lower case for countries to show that difference too is meaningless…..sorry for all this too.

  135. frances snoot

Whom I really fear is Harry W. He has a way of sneaking up on my worst ill-thought words and then tapping me on the shoulder with this amazing rhetoric. I’m dreading an answer to my last debacle I left him.
