people are beginning to see that
- the democrats and republicans and most political parties in general are corrupt and do nothing to protect the people’s interests
- communism and capitalism both turned into corruption and fascism.

It’s a pleasure to listen to the shows and read the posts. I see taking pay cuts and learning to live with less is a trend that will, unfortunately continue for years to come. Think “The Waltons”, the TV show that ran in the 70′s, life will return to the basics, for most. Thankfully technology should make that adjustment easier to swallow.

I was talking with a friend who owns 2 Diners here in the northeast US, he has been in business for 30 years. He said business is so, so. The big trend he has is the use of credit cards, which now account for over 50% of his cash flow. He sees people are really tapped out.

Going forward, without real jobs growth, the economy will continue the trend of the “big squeeze”. Also the price he pays for produce, example, lettuce and onions have increased over $50 a case within the last 2 weeks. So, he says, I have to pass this on to You, the customer. Inflation/price fixing are other variables contributing to the “big squeeze”

i think the pay cuts are happening all over. here in the US , we are really taking a beating. getting tough. alot of folks arent going to survive this mess.
bonn, yes, anyone on a fixed income will probably be the hardest hit. many have allready been wiped out. interesting times were living in…….pg

Interesting observation on GLD from Investor Village :

funny gld etf depot only lost 49,000 ozs today
On a record 79 million share trading day…. approximately 7.9 million ozs of gold traded and the buyers matched the sellers for all but 49k ozs….

-Is is true that 22% of outstanding GLD shares were CHURNED today? With a net holding affect of NIL. Really wonder what stunts would have been pulled today had there still been an uptick rule.

Seems that if GLD dropped ca. 4.5% on Friday, they should have sold ca. 4.5% of their Gold depot .. but didn’t according to the poster !

Maybe Stacy & Max can look into this ?
