War is inherently liberal, as it takes a vast government, with currency expansionary powers to confiscate enough resources from the governed to keep the war machine going.

Limited government, that can only spend what it taxes, could never grow a military as vast as the US, USSR, Nazi Germany, Stalinist Russia, etc.

Any way you look at it, military occupations are doomed to fail by their very nature. Just as there is no “correct” or “proper’ way to administer slavery, or carry out acts of rape and torture, there is no “wise” or “judicious” way of using military force for non-defensive purposes. It’s convenient to label every individual who actively opposes the presence of foreign troops in their region, ‘Taliban’ (“enemy combatants’ we don’t have to add to any civilian casualty lists) when in fact, active and often violent opposition to the US led occupation is not limited to these bearded bogey-men, but carried out by ordinary people defending themselves against foreign invaders.

Establishment liberals find some measure of comfort in the fact that their guy relies more on anonymous drones to kill villagers in remote mountainous areas as opposed to the cruder methods of mass murder as applied in Iraq, where the poor, dumb grunts on the ground have to brutalize the populace at gunpoint in order to “secure the peace”. Again, the policies of this president are no different than any of his predecessors over the last 60 years, most of whom were vetted and groomed for office by the lobbyists whose interests the puppet-in-chief ultimately serves.

Bushtail had the disadvantage of a coronation ceremony that publicly dispensed with any illusion of democracy, and made no secret of his servitude to the crude ‘oiligarchs’ who greased his way to office. He gave away the Imperial game plan with his inept swagger, revealing the gulag casino state at the heart of his vision of ‘freedom’ both in the US and abroad, while Obama’s dry ice delivery of the same policies provide a more bloodlessly calculated analysis of his government’s murderous objectives. Obama made his allegiances clear in his first month of office, transferring the entire contents of the treasury to his bosses at Goldman Sachs. For some, meaning those who have the luxury of being insulated from the scorched earth reality of American Empire, this toxic equation is perfectly acceptable. It speaks of loftier ideals like “compromise”, ‘bipartisanship’ and cold hard number crunching (30,000 additional troops over a two year period . . . yada yada yada) It avoids the embarrassing cowboy exhuberance of Dr Strangelove and instead lays out a point by point plan to further destabilize and impoverish a traumatized region, spelling out its ultimately violent objectives in the plain language of a high school Valedictorian.

While we all shudder to think what a McCain/Palin presidency would look like about now, we overlook the fact that American voters have the choice between a government that will destroy the nation quickly (“You Betcha”!) or one that will perform its controlled demolition of the economy and all its remaining institutions more gradually. We look back in horror and astonishment at the brutal methods Latin America’s Generalissimos applied to terrorize their own citizenry, when thousands of innocent civilians were “disappeared”, yet we hardly raise an eyebrow as the American middle class is similarly ‘disappeared’ and even applaud as the Dow Jones responds positively to this “jobless recovery” (banker speak for a corpseless murder that can’t be pinned on the perpetrator.)

In 2001, a government-funded study showed that military personnel serving in the 1990-1991 Gulf War were nearly twice as likely to have developed ALS as were military personnel who had not served in that war.

Among nearly 700,000 U.S. soldiers deployed in the Persian Gulf between Aug. 2, 1990, and July 31, 1991, 40 eventually developed ALS — roughly twice the rate of ALS cases found in 1.8 million veterans who weren’t deployed to that region during the same period.

The incidence of new ALS cases increased among Gulf-deployed military personnel between 1994 and 1996, peaked in 1996, and then declined by 2001 to levels that were the same as for non-Gulf-deployed military personnel. That pattern suggested to some researchers that a time-specific exposure might be involved.

My gut feeling when Obama was announced as the winner was it was a very bad sign, they’d had to give it to him prematurely because he’s going to be engaged in a lot of war making.

It’s almost beyond belief that Obama takes a peace prize with one hand and while while delivering a pious lecture on war-making, he sends more troops to Afghanistan and Colombia to bend those nations and the neighbours to the will of the USA.

Just came home from a demonstration against Obamas Peace Prize here in Oslo. Cindy Sheehan held a really strong anti war speech. Unfortunately the whole anti-Obama demo was crowded out from the main square in Oslo, where Obama appeared to the torchcarrying PC-crowd. As I guess was the intention. This brought up thoughts of “Which state will secede first?” Maybe we need a new transitive verb, which I propose to be “sexcede: to forcibly cause to secede”; and we can sexcede New York City and Washington DC. They can keep all the debt-chits, the politicians, bankers & Wall Street, etc. while the rest of the US (“Oh, poor us!”) would be left to fend for ourselves. If China, Russia, Japan want to collect on their BennyBux instruments, forward them to the people who bow down to them, the ones who created them in the first place.

Personally, I think the US would do just fine if DC and NYC fell into the Atlantic. But kicking them out of the union would probably do in a pinch…

I was just thinking about this as I dropped off to sleep last night. If you are a lawmaker and you want people to stop doing something, you put a tax on it. If they still do it despite the tax, then you raise the tax. PoliSci 101.

So if you want to stop people from earning money, you tax their income. If they still keep working, tax them more! If you want them to stop saving and investing, tax their capital gains! If you want to break up their families and replace family life with a dependency on government, tax their inheritance so they have to sell their businesses (i. e. break up the family enterprise) to pay the tax!

Now, after decades of such social engineering, our rulers have gotten just what they wanted – a population of people who have no incentive to do anything but become even more dependent on their masters. Think about it – even the top earners (banksters, professional ~~criminals~~ politicians) follow this rule. So, until the rulers eliminate the taxes on investment and income, and start discouraging consumption by replacing these taxes with a sales tax, ain’t nuthin’ gonna change.

Now ask yourself, “Do US pols know this?” The answer (surprisingly, given their brain-dead responses to the crisis) is a resounding “Yes!” But evidently they don’t GaF. Here’s the text of the US congressional finding of HR 25 (2009), a bill that would eliminate all current income, inheritance, corporate and capital gains taxes and replace them with a national sales tax:

Congress finds the Federal income tax–

(1) retards economic growth and has reduced the standard of living of the American public;

(6) imposes unacceptable and unnecessary administrative and compliance costs on individual and business taxpayers;

(10) is not being complied with at satisfactory levels and therefore raises the tax burden on law abiding citizens; and

So, all the members of the US HoR know this very well! They’ve spelled it out, spent years of effort researching it!!! So, why are we in this state of affairs? My guess is this: if you are a citizen of the US, you are not important except to be harvested.

“Because of the limited quota, we only accept bookings and can’t guarantee all the customers will get the gold bars. Each customer can only order 2 pieces,” said Niu Jingqi, the public relations manager of Caibai store.

To convert Yuan per gram to Dollars per ounce, I multiplied 31.1 (grams per ounce) times the Yuan price, giving Yuan per oz.; then I divided by the Yuan/USD exchange rate (currently on Kitco at 6.8).

When I look at the word cloud at Reuters, “Peace” appears once. The words “war”, “wars”, and “war” appear in three places. So, if the size of the word correlates to the number of times it was used, the word war would have been used 3 ways?

How does this word cloud get created?

It was nice to have some time between Keen and Keiser. It seems more than three minutes or so makes a difference because it allows the viewer (generalizing) to get into the right frame of reference to take in the info. We live in the most pluriform and peacefull society in thousands of years (as well as the hottest decade). The norm is continuous religious, ethnic and tribal warfare and slavery, and a tiny upper class. Not giving one damn about the other groups is what underlies the war is peace motive, and sadly imho that is pretty natural.

Reading the Obama Nobel speech, it almost seems like he is trying to turn the Nobel Peace Prize from something given to him personally to a Nobel peace prize given to the United States of America for all their effort after second world war and the nations ongoing effort to underwrite global security. Hens justifying all their wars in the past and ongoing wars today and likely the next wars to come in Iran.

“follow us, think like us, be like us, serve us, and you’ll be fine” is that what Obama is saying?
