  1. I was subscribed to the Max channels on Youtube up until this broadcast – The Climate Change nonsense about the Dubai Castles built on sand statement at the beginning really bugged me.. After a bit of consideration, I cancelled my youtube subscriptions to Max…
Sorry dude – I’ll miss your financial sensibilities, but I cant listen to you spouting duff pseudoscience from proven fraudsters..

  2. Whereisthetruth

Excellent show once again. Only point of disagreement is the ‘peak sand’ issue. Just one of the scams associated with the climate change mega-scam is the issue of sea-level rise. It isn’t happening. No real-life science to support this, only over-simplified computer models that have been shown to be grossly in error.

Other than that, keep it up!

  3. James A. Catalanotto

    Jesus H. Christ Max,
Sea Level is not rising. You are to intelligent to buy into this bullshit and it pisses me off that you would.
Get the facts dude. AGW is bullshit and it really hurts your credibility; and that is a shame because in so many ways You and Stacy are providing some of the best stuff out there in the alternative media. It pains me that you can see the banker oligarchy playing games in the financial sector but you refuse to see their hands involved in the contrived environmental sphere. Wake Up MAX. They want it all and that is the entire planet to themselves with as few people as possible to get in the way. If you really are a champion of the little guy then stop disseminating the propaganda of this Eugenicist Banker Death Cult. If you didn’t notice the sentiment at the Deathenhagen meeting it was this – generally speaking, the brain dead enrirzombies in the conference center and on the streets were not interested in viable alternatives to fossil fuel because as George Monbiot claimed in the last days of the summit – man will continue to pass from one existential threat to another and their is no technological fix for that because there are just to many of us. None of the Malthusian prediction that have been made in my 46 years on of life have turned out to be true and yet we are suppose to give these well funded frauds control of humanity. I have a better idea. Take the control of money out of the hands of private central banks and return it to the people where it originated and where it belongs; and then give people the Freedom to find solutions to their energy needs. Let us not choose technocratic control and enforced death over the struggle and life.
My Love to You and Stacy,

  4. Max: Goldman Sachs didn’t just take the TARP money and use it for bonusses. They also used it to buy equities and speculate in commodities like oil. IMHO you aren’t giving the banksters the “credit” they deserve.

  5. When there’s nothing of any value on TV, I will not buy a big-screen TV.

  6. ohwhythefukbother

@Dan/Underfunded – Digging your punk rock thread.. check out this link.. my mate does a Hardcore radio podcast every couple of weeks.. this should be right up yer alley!!

i get the felling everyone is trying to figure out how to claim the wealth the bank created out of thin air
whose funny money is it now?

  8. The Underfundedmentalist

we are all squatin’ on the man’s reservation

  10. The Underfundedmentalist

    let’s all try something dadaist
    an exercise in cacaphony,
take your next utility bill and treat it like income
deposit your bills and draw on them
why let the banks have all the fun?
until we break the cycle of fear they will keep pushing us,
besides what do we have left to lose
    our kids respect?
we lost that a long time ago

  11. The Underfundedmentalist

    @ bonn
it was april gillispe, if i recall, bush I’s ambassadar to iraq that told saddam “we have no inerest in inter-arab affairs”
april was sent by jim baker. The cia in kuwait could see saddams forces from there hotel window.
But in the end we shook off that ‘viet nam syndrome’ as bush called it, that seemed to be a monkey on the spearcarrying pst-sufferin’ tax-payers back.

  12. @ The Underfundedmentalist
when saddam set fire to the fields in ‘91 there wasn’t as much volatility as we’ve seen lately,

Da ya know why he set fire to those Oil fields ?
USA had given Kuwait Oil drills which went latterally into Iraq’s Oil fields thats why Saddam got Pissed off and attacked Kuwait. And USA said go ahead we wont do anything Hic
Little did Saddam Know what kinda loonatic Country it was up against
    Hic
    ;-)

  13. The Underfundedmentalist

    @ bring it on BONN
    sad but true,
the patriot act excempts big pharma from financial responsibility of any forced vacination program gone awry,
    some incompetence!?!
these guys know how to cover their assets

  14. The Underfundedmentalist

    @ dan
the oil cartell buys low and sells high like nobodies business, the volatility in oil has been due to manipulation both physical and pyshcological, when saddam set fire to the fields in ’91 there wasn’t as much volatility as we’ve seen lately,
regardless of how much oil is left the cartel controls the spigot of energy, coal, nuke, wind, what have you, they will substitute whatever is cheapest, if anything is peaking it’s their access to the cheap stuff in iraq which was never destined for the western hemisphere anyway,
    those tankers get lousy mileage,
canada, mexico, and venezuela supply oil to america, maybe those are running low, maybe not, the stuffs a mess, (if it ain’t hemp you’re being shemped), but who is negotiationg the deal for the american consumers, exxon/mobil? of course the price is gonna be steep, just like when big pharma negotiates your doctor bill
    on a personal note
durring the oil embargo in ’76 my older brother would go to mc donalds and buy coffee buy the dozen to sell it to the people in line for a 1$ a cup, back then it was 10 cents a cup

  15. CommonSense you speak the truth mate. The medieval warming period of 400+ years with higher temperatures than today and higher agricultural yields…and not a single Chinese coal power station in sight! Those scientists at the Univ. of East Anglia CRU shot themselves in the foot big time. This 1 incident alone has made a lot of people around the world do a 180 degree turn on AGW. Wonder what else the buggers are covering up? Very happy with the lack of anything ‘substantive’ at Cop15 I must say. Now let’s have a proper conference dealing with real human issues like Afghanistan, Palestine, the Financial crisis, etc.

  16. @ Dan

there is one other remarkable thing mentioned
in the tavistock, adorno and beatels series,
really about the congress of cultural freedom of 1950,
which the call congress of sex and fascism (mind control based on the Frankfurter Schule), one finds that Ezra Pound a nazi spy!
but that is a whole new can of worms?

  28. well…it is -10 degrees here… it seems we are in a climate cooling now….

    LOLOL nice one
Any f@#ker says Humans cause climate change
emm errr they dont consider the Sun
Is there any place on earth where the nights are warmer than the Days ?????
the freakin Sun heats up the Ocean we get clouds which (also reflect the Suns rays)
and cause the Jet streams which causes Cyclones
The freakin Contienents are still moving into each other
The Indian tectonic plate is still going into the China one I could go on and on nameing at least 10,000 other things that could affect Climate change

    http://www.solidaritaet.com/neuesol/ccf.pdf

    anyway who is that LaRouche?

  31. @Bonn and Underfunded….its not convienient in the sense that now we are running out of oil as much as we are really running out and now they can insert the green dildo in our rectum and choke us with carbon credits till we dissapear…..I for one think people wont go out that quietly and will opt for self distruction thereby giving the PTB what they want in a sped up time frame….sadly there maybe a bit of infrastructure to rebuild.

  32. The Underfundedmentalist

    @ troy oz
thr 3rd party is brought out of the closet every so often in order to front run and fracture any precieved grassroot threat, i fell for perot in ’92 (last time i cast), buchannon ’96, then there was nader in ’00(some still blame the election on ralph, i pin that one squarely on scallia, rove et al), kucinich in ’04, and ’08 yeah a dem but he scared the crap out of the establishment, and became more popular every time he spoke, so the networks kicked him out of the debate
debased and divided the 3rd party only has cameos in this punch and judy show
    r. paul has been given more air time than the rest, espescially so early into the cycle, makes me wonder if goldman is sending obama a message
to be honest i feel most people either have no faith or, more frighteningly, no concern in the election process.
now i’m in the green party, i’m told our leader is an anarchist(?)
    strange days indeed

  33. @Underfunded,,add to the list… metallica…blackflag…misfits….ramones….leaky chipmunk…gwar…carnivore…marblehead…too many to name.

So are the Russians cause once ya corner a country the country starts to think Esp. if it is in recent History
    LOL
    ;-)

  35. all hoping that a third or fourth party wil gain control of things is living in a pipe dream. The big wigs control the voting machines and the media. You will obey to thier will is all that will happen.

A very few realize that the world in general is truly manipulated. But I’m afraid its not nearly enough to over come the control of the big wigs. Sorry. The masses for whatever reason are just breeding machines without brains to fight for a better life for themselves. At least thats what the powers that be are surmising.

  36. The Underfundedmentalist

greg palast does a pretty good job deconstructing big oil’s peak theory, what is peaking is the chance for the western oil cartel to place themselves between the cheap stuff and the developing eastern world, all the while tellin’ their plebes back home ’bout ‘national’ interests

  37. And maybe Why a country name’s a Natural reserve as a forrest is because theres freakin stuff there Minerals and shit who knows.
Surely not to save the bees??
I remember when I was growing up (12-14yrs)in Bangalore I use to see lotta parrots I saw one every day
Guess what I have’nt seen a parrot in the last 10 years now. But they Did’nt quarteen Bangalore as a Parrot Reserve
    LOLOLOL
    ;-) Hic

  38. And no one here realizes the big wigs control the oill in the world or anything else. And we here think were somewhat smart. Geez.

Its all manipulated by a very few fat cats. Has been that way for a while.

  39. @ The underfundamentalist.

So it does not matter: Democrat or Republican; they all eat from the same trough

But where is the 3th political party in the US? The one Celente promised us before the end of the year.

  40. Its all very convienent now that the 1st world countrys have built thier Infrastructure and houses and all
    they shout
“Hey guys we hit Peak – Oil oh and yes Global Warming is also a reality”
    WELL WELL
Here tis from a guy from a 3rd world country
“F#$K your Global Warming / Climate change we gonna burn Coal for Elecricity we gonna fart everyday and thers nothing ya can do about it”
And I am willing to bet a Dollar that we have’nt reached Peak – Oil
    How can a commodity which was at 18 $ a barrel in 1998 go to130 $ a barrel in 2008 and then back to 40$ a barrel in 2009
And to add to all that ya have Dave Chapman and Estullen almost calling the price of Oil 6 months prior

Seems to me the 1st world countrys are trying to tell 3rd world countrys
    Nope ya can’t develope
    Trust me we don’t care
China and India along with our good friend Russia have huge land masses there is definately Oil out there some where
    Hic ;-)

  41. The Underfundedmentalist

    @ bonn
    i agree
seems it’s always the salesmen that are tellin’ me there’s a shortage, i remember when we ran out of oil in the 70′s

  42. The Underfundedmentalist

how much longer will goldman need obama?

  43. @ Mep
Besides Cheney’s comments, an ExxonMobil exec is quoted as saying, “To put a number on it, we expect that by 2010 about half the daily

Do ya think I am going to open a Document that has the letters Cheney on it ?????????

    LOL ;-)
Just wait and watch there is no such thing as Peak anything

  44. The Underfundedmentalist

    @ dan the man
    thanx,
slayer and yeager make a great combo

  45. Hey Max loved the show !
But that part at the top about the island.
It’s sinking at present but the seas are are not presently rising.

On average over the last 250 years the sea level has gone up or down about a foot . No big change.

  46. The Underfundedmentalist

so the unitary executive owes goldman sachs a favor?
c’mon! real dictators take out the people who helped them ‘get there’, obama certainly had the popularity to do this, (would have made bigger than ceaser) but he knows who he works for, do the rest of us?

  47. @Underfunded….with regards to your same as it ever was …synopsis

  48. @Underfunded……BURNING DOWN THE HOUSE!!!!!

  49. The Underfundedmentalist

durring obamas campaign the right side of the media made a big deal about “where!?!” was all his money was coming from, foriegners? terrorists? radical liberals? abortionists?
guess they had to wait for left side of the media to crack the case, pbs must have one hell of an investagive reporter to think to call matt taibbi to break this big story, a year after the election,
and what’s that silence? not a peep from the right side of the media sayin we told you he was no good?
    the plot is thinning

  50. Very bright, likable guest. He has a great grip on the situation. He says similar ideas to Steve Keen of Australia.

  51. Giuseppe Bagodonutti , ha ha ha I love the handle!

    VM

  52. The Underfundedmentalist

MATT TAIBBI: Most people that I’ve talked to have taken one of two positions on this. One is that Obama was naïve, that he doesn’t know a whole about the financial services industry, and he felt the need to rely upon people who’d been there before, people who’ve had these jobs before, and you know, who have this expertise. And there’s another school of thought that look, he took more money from Wall Street than any other presidential candidate in history. Goldman Sachs was his number one private campaign contributor. And if you just look at the evidence, it’s just really business as usual. This is what the Democratic Party has done since the mid-’80s. They’ve relied heavily on the financial services industry to fund their campaigns. And it’s the quid pro quo. They gave a lot of money to help these guys run, and in return, they get the big jobs, you know, in the White House.

    same as it ever was

  53. @ Under – Ahhh. Gotcha.

@ all – Matt Taibbi on Bill Moyers: http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/12182009/watch.html

  54. The Underfundedmentalist

We have no right to drop missiles?
Yo, that’s how unitary executives roll. They don’t need no stinking badges! Capice?
Strange, but since 9/11 this has been the new law of the land of the free, whatever, wherever, basically terror for profit.
See, it’s public anarchy for corporate security.
    Cash from chaos.

  55. @Will

    http://www.mossdreams.blogspot

Shamans, dreamworkers, writers, a great balance from this.

  56. The Underfundedmentalist

    @mep
    wasn’t givin’ his lawlessness props
just pointing out the change in sales pitch

  57. @ Under – How can you complain about Obama while also siding with his adoption of the Bush doctrine? We have no right to drop missiles on countries that we are NOT at war with.

  58. The Underfundedmentalist

    pre-emptive strike?
    bin laden is yemeni
guess that’s not the look bama’s goin for

  59. The Underfundedmentalist

let’s see if I understand this,
the big banks printed up a whole bunch of funny money
and now we are all to fight each other over this funny money
    i don’t know what’s more funny
    people or their money

  60. Obama orders military strike on Yemen:

    http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/cruise-missiles-strike-yemen/story?id=9375236

    Gotta love the pre-emptive strikes.

  61. RE: Glass Steagall, my non-financial-analyst opinion is that it has to be brought back. Mr. Harrison singles out Bear Stearns and Lehman Bros. and infers that Glass Steagall wouldn’t have stopped them from getting into trouble or going bust. But he doesn’t mention the hundreds of trillions in the derivatives market or the fact that JPMorgan Chase is a quasi-monopoly in that it controls nearly half of the US derivatives market. (At least, last time I looked at the data, JPM owned/controlled/whatever you wanna call it 40% of the derivatives.) No institution should be able to take on that much risk. The repeal of Glass-Steagall is what allowed the culture of wild-west gambling to come into being.

On compensation and the actual economy, the financialization of the economy and the ever-ballooning compensation packages of those in the finance sector is largely responsible for the widening inequality gap. I don’t think that governments should be able to dictate compensation and I don’t think that giving shareholders a “say on pay” would have much of an effect on insanely high compensation. But I know that Glass-Steagall would remove a lot of the perverse incentives that exist now–thanks, in part, to banks acting like hedge funds. Putting it back in place should remove a good deal of the incentives to steal, defraud, or gamble with reckless abandon and should ultimately deflate earnings packages (not to mention the egotism that leads people on the street to believe that they deserve to make millions more for shuffling paper based on their “performance”).

On people blasting Max for taking about Peak Oil and telling him to “stick to economics” (I’ve seen similar comments here before) . . . seriously? Who wants to take financial advice or get financial news from someone who doesn’t acknowledge the centrality of oil to the market economy? Or, from someone who either is unable or unwilling to connect the dots between other economic matters involving oil, like, let’s say, war? Please don’t tell me that there are people here who believe that we’re occupying countries for their oil and resources, but at the same time think that it’s all a coincidence that it’s happening now. The coming “green economy” isn’t a coincidence, either.

  62. The Underfundedmentalist

    @ dan
    yeah govts. suck
but this one sucks you dry

  63. Max and Stacy,

Where do investors go when USD and EURO are weakened. It seems like the battle of the duds at the moment, but they are still the biggest currencies in the world.

I hear it said that investors are returning to USD as Euro fears strengthen (ie greece, Spain, Ireland).

I guess Max will say, soon they will ‘get it’ and go to Gold and just dump all fiat currency, which is ok if you have 5-10 years to wait.

I am finding it very interesting.

  64. The Underfundedmentalist

  66. The federal government does what it does but it takes the acquiescence of the state and local authorities to implement their policies. We can stop the federal government at our respective state lines as they do not automatically have jurisdiction within any of the 50 states party to the Constitution. To do this we need to redirect the focus of our state legislatures. This Pink Slip and Notice and Demand is as the proverbial two-by-four that will get their attention. The People have the ultimate power acting through their states to manage the federal government.

  67. So damn obvious.

    Delegates bicker at Copenhagen until…….

Obama is doing God’s Work, there is no doubt……..
    Well, isn’t there?!

    This is getting sickening.

  68. The Underfundedmentalist

    oh, change is comming alright

  69. William of the North

    @Youri Carma,

    RE: Chem Trails.

    I have a question.

Normally, what you see from a jet plane is moisture condensing from compressed heated air, (which hold more water vapour than cold air).

So the question is; if they are just filling tanks with liquid and then dispensing it, would this leave a cloud like trail?

  70. @kricke242 – “It is over, the world need to find another future.”

@naomi – “Global warming climate change, sun spots, …..Clearly, our environment is in trouble. The causes are many. We can’t pretend these events are not happening. We see them with our own eyes and carry the toxins in our bodies…”

Reading this kind of stuff used to make me feel like there wasn’t any hope. But now I’m much less susceptible to being manipulated by guilt (e.g. pols spewing about Global Cooling in Denmark), mainly because I see how dirty the whole business is, as Naomi points out. Some of our leaders would sell their mom’s kidneys to get another page under their desk. I see many well-intentioned “normal people” working very hard to change their lifestyles to be sustainable. Meanwhile, the pols wine and dine themselves whilst devising new ways to tax us to death. There’s a world of difference between a person who lives their intentions versus a person like Al Gore who merely projectile-spews about them, grabbing every BennyBuck he can in the process.

For another thing, living in Central America taught me that the Earth can take care of herself – if she gets tired of the annoying fleas on her back, she will shrug them off. It was much harder to get this living in “developed” countries, where the attitude is “If there’s a tree in the way, cut it down.” If you do this in Central America, next month the side of the hill might be gone because that tree was really important. The lesson I learned is that I needed to cultivate an internal respect for the balance of nature and live it, rather than allow myself to keep consuming and expiate my sins by buying indulgences from Gov’s high priests.

Right now I’m reading the books of people who have been researching shamanism such as John Perkins or Dr. Alberto Villoldo. While the concepts and actually carrying out the task of developing a vision are somewhat difficult for me because I spent most of my career doing very left-brain work, the more I learn the more it makes sense. John Perkins in particular is excellent and is what got me started down this reading path – I started with his earlier works and see the progression, because he was so intimately involved in creating the mess we are currently in. I think he learned first hand that we can’t expect any solutions from the people who created the problems – although on the surface this looks like the pols, the deeper I examined what’s happening, the more it seemed like I should be looking in the mirror.

So I’d just suggest that if anyone feels hopeless about where we are right now and where we’re going, that it’s worth exploring some alternate ideas. If shamanism and visioning sound too “woo-woo” for you then forget it; but people always need a vision as well as leaders who will at least start to create a new reality. I’m also finding that spending time visioning balances out the time I must spend doing my job, reading about all the unbelievable crap and criminality that’s happening nowadays. I also recognize that each person has there own path on this subject, so if this grates on your logic or anything, just scroll on by!

  71. We can no longer allow others to control or look after our own financial well being.
This includes Banks, Pension/Superannuation managers, Fund Managers, etc, anywhere you hope to ‘get ahead’ you must do it yourself and learn what ‘they’ know.

That way we will no longer rely on banks, money managers etc and therefore will not need them.

We must make them redundant and take responsibility for our own wealth preservation. Do not trust anyone with your money, especially governments. Governments more than anyone in fact ;)

  72. The Underfundedmentalist

doesn’t seem to matter whose flag is on that oil well
everybody already knows who it really belongs to

  73. @Youri

You can leave the vaccines out of the equation

VLPs are going to resolve the Egg-based vaccine disaster…
Especially the ones made from TOBACCO plants (wrap that one around your head and meditate for second)

I don’t know about the caterpillar vaccines… that stock (NVAX) has been taking a hit as of late

at least from the wrong side of the tracks

  77. So strangely funny: Ukraine H1N1 Cases Explode – 507 Dead now in a relative short time but the MSM like Reuters who have been pushing this H1N1 story whole summer give a damn now!

    2,690,563 Influenza/ARI

    156,272 Hospitalized

    507 Dead

The above numbers are from today’s Ministry of Health update on the H1N1 situation in Ukraine. Deaths have passed to 500 mark, but the above numbers show a major jump in cases, which are 143,961 higher than yesterday (see map). Donetsk increased 16,352 to 225,476 and Dnipropetrovsk increased 15,236 to 297,971. The latest figures extend a reversal of the downturn and clear represent a new wave in Ukraine. This new wave suggests similar results will be seen in the region, setting the stage for a major peak throughout the northern hemisphere in early 2010. http://tinyurl.com/ykfl6pq

  78. Global warming climate change, sun spots, …..

Clearly, our environment is in trouble. The causes are many. We can’t pretend these events are not happening. We see them with our own eyes and carry the toxins in our bodies…

What I find troubling is somebody is making money off of the concept of global warming. Did I read that the person who came up with the idea of derivitives at JP Morgan is helping Goldman Sachs get a handle on the next “bubble” of cap and trade?

See, this is what everyone is disgusted with. When you have heavy money behind anything, science and scientists and be bought, twisted. While the truth needs to be found.

I don’t fault Max for looking at the degredation of the environment. The sea is becoming more acidic….hello! Ice that has been around for thousands of years is melting….hello! Human beings are a blight on the environment because of greed.

Reason would be a good thing. Data that is not changed, political agendas attached to an environmental mess this is what we most do not need now.

As predicted the war mongering against Iran would intensify leading up to a war round 2011 -2012 first with Israel which is planned to escalate later into WOIII. Cutting countries off from oil or other necessary supplies will push them to go to war just like Japan in WOII. I think they will pull the same trick again by isolating some country from supplies leaving it no other choice than to go to war.

Cause the dollar is going to continue it’s declining trend since it was based on the loss of confidence on the long term with all the printing press and so on. This has only become stronger now China is in roaring rivers too so is not eager to buy more toilet paper as it already has.

The prediction should be that the dollar is going to decline much faster in 2010. Even on the black streets the dollar is no longer welcome. if the dollar panic really kicks in there could already be a crash in 2010 but it could reasonably take a bit longer.

    RE: Peak oil.

I use to think that maybe American Companies were just smart; not using up their oil reserves. Let every other country ship it to America, and when it’s all gone, at least they still have oil in their country to drill.

But it has to exporting inflation. (You gotta listen to Ron Paul) Americans don’t like $10 a gallon gas. How are you going to get cheap gas or goods. Give up your manufacturing, and oil industry, because, they can do it a lot cheaper than americans. I know Max and Stacey hate Walmart, but there is no way to keep up the lie or illusion without these cheap goods. The US dollar is going down the tubes.

The result is that America will suffer from Sticker Shock with the new prices.

Well, in terms of Max & Stacy’s community building efforts (presumably to effect some political/social change) in regards to “peak oil” they seem to have struck a middle way between waring camps I am also not a geo-chemist, but it is my cursory understanding of the topic that oil can be produced at least in part by an Abiotic process. Therefore whatever camp one backs we can probably at least agree on peak “cheap, easily obtained” oil and unify our efforts accordingly.

Perhaps there is a middle way on the AGW theory. Help us Max & Stacy!

RE: The Euro. And the Countries now on the Euro.

The Euro-zone countries are going to find out how inconvenient it is that they can’t print/inflate their way out of their debt. Greece is just the tip of the iceberg. Essentially, they have just put themselves in the same boat as a private citizen; no access to the printing press.

Not everything is some big global conspiracy to against the people. I trust a lot of people in the AGW camp. I have said over and over again that I do not like the Cap and Trade solution and many AGWers are the same. Most of these people do want to do the right thing.

I understand some of the skepticism because of all the lies we are fed on so many things. I suspect that we will have to agree to disagree on both the AGW and peak oil issue.

Also makes me wonder whether the GLD/SLV ETFs are some sort of ploy to keep the Gold price on paper.
Especially useful for those commercial shorts I’d expect.

  123. $26 drone hack is much worse than originally thought:

    http://www.longwarjournal.org/threat-matrix/archives/2009/12/us_military_aircraft_video_fee.php

According to the guys at the indispensable Danger Room, this problem extends to the video feeds on all US military aircraft.

Tapping into drones’ video feeds was just the start. The U.S. military’s primary system for bringing overhead surveillance down to soldiers and Marines on the ground is also vulnerable to electronic interception, multiple military sources tell Danger Room. That means militants have the ability to see through the eyes of all kinds of combat aircraft — from traditional fighters and bombers to unmanned spy planes. The problem is in the process of being addressed. But for now, an enormous security breach is even larger than previously thought.
The Department of Defense has to assume the worst case scenario here: that our rivals such as Russia and China; our adversaries such as Iran, al Qaeda, Hezbollah, the Taliban, etc.; and our erstwhile allies such as Pakistan, have all been monitoring our feeds for years, and thus have learned plenty about how the US plans and conducts attacks, as well as the capabilities and limitations of the weapons and observation platforms. The DoD officials downplayed the leaked information and said no US troops were harmed due to the breach. That may be true today, but may not be the case in future conflicts.

Lots more technical stuff here at Wired magazine.

  126. @Mini US – I second the thanks to Stacy, Max, and all who donate their time and effort in this forum; I’ve learned a lot too.

Here’s my favorite paragraph from The Theory of Money and Credit:

In the early stages of an inflation only a few people discern what is going on, manage their business affairs in accordance with this insight, and deliberately aim at reaping inflation gains. The overwhelming majority are too dull to grasp a correct interpretation of the situation. They go on in the routine they acquired in noninflationary periods. Filled with indignation, they attack those who are quicker to apprehend the real causes of the agitation of the market as “profiteers” and lay the blame for their own plight on them. This ignorance of the public is the indispensable basis of the inflationary policy. Inflation works as long as the housewife thinks: “I need a new frying pan badly. But prices are too high today; I shall wait until they drop again.” It comes to an abrupt end when people discover that the inflation will continue, that it causes the rise in prices, and that therefore prices will skyrocket infinitely. The critical stage begins when the housewife thinks: “I don’t need a new frying pan today; I may need one in a year or two. But I’ll buy it today because it will be much more expensive later.” Then the catastrophic end of the inflation is close. In its last stage the housewife thinks: “I don’t need another table; I shall never need one. But it’s wiser to buy a table than keep these scraps of paper that the government calls money, one minute longer.”

  155. @ Bonn – On Peak Oil, check out this PDF:

    http://www.peakoil.net/Publications/Cheney_PeakOil_FCD.pdf

Besides Cheney’s comments, an ExxonMobil exec is quoted as saying, “To put a number on it, we expect that by 2010 about half the daily volume needed to meet projected demand is not on production today – and that’s the challenge facing producers.”

Recently, I read of another oil person who said that by 2010 40% of daily production would have to come from untapped fields and newly discovered ones. Hence, the war OF terror in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, and the propaganda about Iran.

  156. Global Warming does exist but it is primarily caused by the sun and the earth.

    http://www.flyingbuffaloes7.net/keluar8.html

My question about whether carbon emissions cause higher temperatures is enough to have me ridiculed and mislabelled as a climate-warming denier by the “educated” scientists and by those who echo the carbon dogma.

It is a known fact that many springs, creeks, streams and rivers are warmer than they were in past decades. Is it not much more reasonable to assume that the temperature increases in springs, creeks, streams and rivers are directly caused by geothermal conditions rather than indirectly caused by a warmer atmosphere? Water is more resistant to temperature changes than air is. It is quicker and easier to heat a pot of water on a stove than it is to heat the air around the pot of water and wait for it to increase the temperature of the water in the pot.

In simple terms, the carbon dogma points to the warmer atmosphere as the main contributor to global warming. I propose that there is climate change, but that it is mainly caused by the sun and the Earth, and only marginally caused by the atmosphere.

The sun is hotter, which is evidenced by increases in solar flares and other things. Since scientists cannot credibly argue that humans have polluted the Earth’s atmosphere so much that it has caused more solar flares and a hotter sun, for purposes of their carbon dogma, they ignore the hotter sun. Likewise, the same carbon dogma proponents ignore the fact that the Earth is getting hotter. Scientists are only looking at the hot air, which is the least significant factor in global warming, whilst ignoring the much more significant factors of a hotter sun and a hotter Earth. What kind of scientific equation would eliminate the most significant factors from it? One that is unsound and filled with hot air!

  157. Gold Hit With a Bear Raid Yesterday – Memories of Citi’s Eurobond Price Manipulation

… I recall reading at the time how the Citi traders were incredulous at being outed by the regulators, because that is how they would do things in the States, running the stops and using outsized positions to perform short term price manipulation. In the states ‘price management’ has become quite notorious around key market events, such as option expiration. It is so prevalent that it has its own momentum among traders. …

  158. @Will … Wow, what a coincidence … Vohwinkel.

I used to live there !

I’ve just uploaded 3 photos of the notes I bought at a German Trödelmarkt ( Junk market ) near Vohwinkel a few years ago using http://imageshack.us/ .

    RM 100
    …. dated 1. Nov. 1920

    RM 5000

    RM 100,000,000
    …. dated 20.Sept. 1923

    http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/434/100000000.jpg

Notice the 100,000,000 Note says Ronsdorf, which is very close to Vohwinkel.

  159. 109 should have been “10 to the 9th power” and 1012 should have been “10 to the 12th power” but evidently that HTML doesn’t work here either. Sure would be nice to have a preview button!

  160. @Stadt Vohwinkel note.

The denomination of the banknote is 5 trillion marks (billion in German is Milliarden or 109 while trillion is Billionen or 1012.) I think the US government would love to pay off its debts with BennyBux like these!

  162. @phil, naomi… Weimar

This is my favorite example of a German banknote during the hyperinflationary period during the 20′s.

    http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/richard7/notgeld-images/voh5bio.jpg

Note that around the outside of the bill, there are prices of basic commodities in 1914, and prices of the same goods in 1923. For example, one liter of milk was 20 pfennigs in 1914, but in 1923 it was 560 billion marks!

Note that there are also pictures of US gold money, what we used to have here. There is also a poem by Goethe:

    “America, you have it better
    than we, the old continent…”

This one note pretty much tells the story. Gold begins to look really good when your money is worthless.

Max and Stacy – I really look forward to your video programs.
Please keep up the great work!

  166. Max and Stacy,

In your community building efforts, I hope you will not completely ignore those that have doubts about AGW (man made global warming). I suspect these individuals make up a significant portion of your audience. I am not a climatologist, but as a medical doctor trained in the United States I am familiar with the scientific method and “scientific community”. I think it is naive to consider climatologists as purely impartial, and not subject to the same operational pressures and biases as say, Big Oil, Big Pharma, Tobacco, etc.

Why not focus your talents at finding market-driven solutions to ecological problems we can ALL agree exist?

You might find this latest revelation in the AGW debate particularly shocking:
