A Champagne Toast

Stacy Summary: A toast to all the commenters on the site. Old and new. Thank you so much for visiting the site with your conversation, headlines, links and debates. 3. Well at least we know 2010 wont be boring :)

    Have a safe one everyone!

  4. Cheers to you, Stacy and Max!
May 2010 be better than we think it will.

  5. Max and Stacy thanks so much for your hard work. You guys put the “Great” in Great Depression 2.

  6. Mike/Liverpool

We must try to have a get together, just few of us…….NO SINGING!

    Mike

  7. Yippee. same to y’all.

  8. Stacy , I think I actually love you ( and Max ).

    epha

  9. Cheers! I soo wasn’t in that list :( lol

My favorite things here were your dancing in the “Buy Gold” video, and the scenes with Max calling Goldman Sachs Scum, throwing money at the camera telling them to take it, and wearing a pimp hat “I be pimpin”.

    Thanks Stacy and Max :)

Can someone do something about the cold here? Every time I wanna go buy some gold it’s like MINUS 25?!? Are you KIDDING me?!? I’m not goin out in that. Minus 19 is my limit.

  10. Yes yes yes, what a great site you (Stacy) & Max have cobbled together, and what a swell bunch of commentators.

To all, may yis have a content and peaceful new year.

Three cheers for everyone (me included) hip hip hooray, hip hip hooray, hip hip hooray.

  11. Atleast M&S don’t have to worry about employment the business to accurately comment on finance, markets and scandals (in special) seems to only grow. Almost as good as debt collection/repo but nothing as profitable as investment banking/fraudulent trading etc. The only reason we are in a “depression” is because the government handed out bail out money and the banks thought up a story involving bets insurance and some nice terms. Shouldn’t we toast with beer instead of champagne? Or could take a pic of some cheap bad export (rothschild) wine from france/US. (mondovino fine recommendation by whom ever posted it) Anyways can always make empty promises, or hope for improvement the only change can come from the people themselves. Something AJ is right about in my opinion; you want solutions, look in the mirror. Or we could look at the pretty fireworks, say happy new year/merry christmas/peace on earth because the planet finished another rotation around the sun or some other insane reason and continue on the same route. But not to be a total buzzkill; happy new year y’all ;-p @m&s keep up the excellent work!

  12. The Underfundedmentalist

    Thank you!
Max and Stacy, it is inspiring to see your journalism challenege the corproganda. Like underground currents, rising to the surface, creating rip tides in the main stream, your relentless irreverence has been a life preserver for many left in the doldrums of disinformation.
A Happy New Year to all!
    Now, ‘Tell The People!’

  13. Have a great 2010 guys, party like it’s 1999.
After all, 2012 is just around the corner.

  14. Nice one Max + Stacy

  17. @all Thanks!

@AM – @Youri left a link earlier regarding steep discounts on champagne, so I think it may be cheaper than beer . . .

    @epha – I love you too!

    @Daniel S – sorrrrrry! I have updated list now . . . where is it minus 25??? That is cold . . .

  18. cheers!

Ill light a few doobies for those who prefer it. :)

Love seeing this site grow and grow and M&S keep the show and boat rockin!

  19. @stacey and Max
Thank you both for being a clarion call for truth…ice cold reality in a tumbledry madness of lies…..

Thank you also to other contributors who have also enlightened, encouraged and knocked my socks off (still knocked out at Snoot’s beast/hydra comment)….

Love and kisses to all and even if next year is not profitable may it nonetheless be full of joy

  20. HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!!!!

  26. @Catfish Rushdie – thanks! we will definitely see you in the bayou . . . whenever we make it down that way; are there any crocs there?

  27. Stacy, I’m in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It’s been unusually cold this winter here (no comment on global warming intended). I have to wear 2 t-shirts and 3 sweaters under my coat. It barely fits after wards! It’s beautiful here though. Lots of snow, and it’s unusually fluffy looking because it was so cold when the first of it fell.

  28. YES!!!

@ Max – Hilarious pasty song. Would’ve made me hungry if I hadn’t just had a bagel.

  32. i’m playing that pastie song on RT this week for sure while singing about Goldman Sachs.

also, the bit on France24 where I throw the money and say ‘here GS take all of it’ comes from a Lenny Bruce routine he does about his divorce lawyers. it’s in the excellent movie ‘lenny’ starring dustin hoffman.

@Max and @ Sherbert: Many Happy returns….so please return in the New Year….every new disciple to the cause of sound money and away from the mainstream babble is one for the gipper…I mean rising prices in the strategic metals…BTW…the AOCS now has a 1/2 Troy ounce medallion that has on the obverse: LEGALIIZE IT!!! with a marijuana leaf…and a peculiar Latin expression translated: abuse is not the end of use…we are on a roll…also BTW were the confiscated $134.5 billion and the other $100 billion, in US treasury bonds legit or counterfeit???Either way the entire paper chase is a scam from top to bottom….Putting Bernanke on the cover of TIME is just the right criminal to expose…and glorify…Have some cheer tonight and throughout the year..

  35. Sandwiched between Apocalypto & turbulence.

    That was my year. :D

Youri Carma ahead of frances snoot! Well, well.

  36. @ Max – Is RT considered mainstream media in Russia? I honestly don’t know. I see that RT has an advertising campaign in the UK that has pissed off the US: http://rt.com/ads At any rate, I’m sure that everyone will love your singing. And congrats to you both on the extra weekly Keiser Report.

  38. What the hell @ Berlin? How could a giant Coke bottle be allowed to stand in front of the Brandenburg Gate?! Don’t anarchists attend New Year’s celebrations?

  39. Happy New Year!
Cheers to y’all and those you love!
Got the slow cooker going. Gonna have some fall off the bone, melt in you mouth BBQ ribs with some close friends.
    Cant wait!

    New Year’s resolutions:
1 Regular exercise. Got to prepare to ride my bike a lot more when and if gas prices soar.
2 Start my vegetable garden in the spring.
3 Learn how to can goods.
My grandmother used to make her own gardiniera with olives, onion, green tomatoes. I have to ask my aunt if she has the recipe.

  40. @Everyone

I would like to wish everyone on this website, all your family members and friends the best of health and success in 2010. In times that are dark, it is good to see groups of people challenging the shortsighted politicians, and debating ideas of how to bring about a brighter future. Have a Happy New Year, may all your endeavors in 2010 be the best and most successful. In the words of Gerald Celente, “Rock easy and relax yourself.”

One more thing, I would like to give a big THANK YOU to Max Keiser and Stacy Herbert for inspiring me to do research in economics and finance.

  41. bonne année aux Parisiens, malgré tout….

  42. Alright, marietta, good for you! Here is a page for you to file away on canning. I’m gonna start learning, too. I had tons of roma tomatoes in the summer from just 5 plants and didn’t have any canning equipment, so I ended up giving a lot away and then making sauces and salsa w/ the rest. My parents weren’t able to pass along much knowledge to me about how to live in the world or much of anything else, but my mother does know how to can, so I’m gonna ask her to teach me–everybody loves feeling useful and teaching other people stuff, after all.

  43. benches and stools ….mon !

  44. Youri Carma ahead of frances snoot! Well, well.

    Age before beauty.

    :)

  45. One more food comment before I head to the liquor store–yesterday I overheard a new Campbell’s soup ad on TV in which the narrator was talking about “who grew your soup?” I only caught the tail end of it visually, and they showed a bunch of happy local farmer actors posing with their veggies. So make no mistake, peeps, the corporations are paying attention to what’s going on and very nervous about the whole buy locally grown, organic movement. They know it’s catching on as is the desire amongst people to actually know and have something of a relationship with the actual farmers who grew the actual food. Can’t locate the ad that was on TV; however, Campbell’s now has an entire section of a Website devoted to who grew your soup? Their soup, they want us to believe, is good for farmers and the planet! (Nevermind that whole part about the tasteless soup and all of its unhealthy additives traveling thousands of miles before it gets to the grocery store.)

  54. The Major Change in 2010 (2012)

    wepollock
    31. Dezember 2009

We are constantly talking about the USD getting weaker in an index comprised of mostly Euro and Yen. These currencies move every second. What we don’t talk about with currencies are those trading partners that are pegged in some way. The two major world players with a PEG are Saudi Arabia and China. We should expect a major change to occur between 2010 and 2012. If the USD would get weaker it would be against those two currencies, not the floating currencies. This will prove out to be the next major area of world instability. This also plays into the Fannie and Freddie bailouts; to keep the status quo of the China Peg Stable.

  55. Stacey I keep thinking you look like you could do with a decent dose of sunshine and fresh air. Get Max to pay for a care free 3 week holiday somewhere with white sand and palm trees. You deserve it after all for all your hard work and lets face it handling someone as dynamic as Max must be a major stressor.
Really enjoy the videos you guys make.

  56. anyone know where i can find the current price for a kg of silver in GBP ?

    Cheers

  57. @ frances,

  59. @stacy, max and all

  60. btw, ^ that’s partly a parody and partly an exposition of this: John Searle & Bryan Magee on The Philosophy of Language, & Wittgenstein.

  61. FRANKLYHOPING: YOU HAVE A GREAT NEW YEAR, Mr. Frank, Hope.

I think beauty is truth, right? Stacey: if so then it is inherently beautiful and negligent of care or desire or age.

    HarryW:
Happy New Year to the thinker.

Mep: Nice ideas of canning! I’m going to make guava jam this year.

Phil/Germany: Give Lilly an extra catnip toast for me!

  62. Happy New Year to Stacy and Max from the West.

If I drank alcoholic beverages, I would be lifting a glass of locally produced (Lake County, California) wine or “champagne.”

  63. On canning and other survival skills… I guess I am lucky that my grandparents raised me (I am around Max’s age). They lived through the Great Depression #1 and taught me all sorts of useful skills: gardening, canning, use of shop tools and firearms, and the ethic of repairing rather than replacing.

  64. Hey Folks.
    Happy New Year :)
It is 1/1/2010 already here and all went well.
I hope you all have a great 2010 and keep in touch on this fantastic site. Thanks to Max and Stacy for their great work and all you folk commenting and adding to the fun.

Russia Today has now green lit the “Keiser Report” for 2 X’s a week to air Tuesdays and Thursdays.
    ————-

When it comes to the number of active transmitters, frequencies and programming hours — Radio Moscow was never displaced from its place of supremacy over the airwaves.

    – Note that the Ministry of Communications had control over all of the USSRs external broadcasting assets from 1939-Present.

    – The USSR did not have the kind of fuel crisis that made the West totally redo its broadcasting into the USSR after the 1st OPEC shock.

Some aspects of this tradition seem to have carried over to the wussier and prisser satliite television technology era.

It is a shame an audio only version of your program is not running on “The Voice of Russia”…

  77. Well, it’s now New Year in Bongcouver…

This in thought to Max and Stacey’s concern about the planet’s state: is this a crisis of economics or nature? Are we being reigned in for a new paradigm or a new planet?

    Keep Silence

    Passing
    Sawdust strewn to muffle
    As a scarf mutes sound
    Issues forth a sign
    Less a sigh
    Breathed heavily

    Let it pass
    Held tightly, infantile grasp
    Herald of dawn
    Lithe step-song of morning
    Life to relinquish
    Time’s softening impulse

    Passing now
    Clouds envelope
    Contain the gaze
    Of a marble countenance
    Cold and light at once
    Upon the earth

    Shadow of the moon
    Harbinger of life’s loss
    Darkness and light
    Held by heaven and hell
    As time holds
    The soft rain-dew
    Upon the grass

I wish for everyone here that 2010 may be their best year yet, and that it may foster hope and joy in all of our hearts and minds, for a sustainable future, for ourselves and our children!

Thanks to Stacy and Max for being such cheerful and amusing luminaries, and for dedicating themselves to a difficult and risky endeavor.

  83. @Stacey&Max

    Have a great new year.

  84. A champagne-y cheers to you all!

  85. @Max, Stacy, and Team, Cheers! This year could see the last of the bubbles.
