A Race Against ‘Ominous Indications’

Stacy Summary: Many asserting that there will be violence and unrest in Haiti. Wolf Blitzer asks Sanjay Gupta, “So, in other words there is some ominous indications that people are getting ready to get violent, is that what I am hearing from you, Sanjay?” And below is the Huffington Post’s warning on looting and robbing pre-crimes.  Sounds like what they said post-Katrina and what they also said post-invasion of Iraq . . . they warned for many months before the Sunni-vs-Shia ‘civil war’/El Salvador option actually happened. What do you think it’s all about?

“Send in the Marines. That’s America’s response. That’s what we’re good at. The aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson finally showed up after three days. With what? It was dramatically deployed — without any emergency relief supplies. It has sidewinder missiles and 19 helicopters

But don’t worry, the International Search and Rescue Team, fully equipped and self-sufficient for up to seven days in the field, deployed immediately with ten metric tons of tools and equipment, three tons of water, tents, advanced communication equipment and water purifying capability. They’re from Iceland”

I read a while back that the charges of the North and South pole shift at times in history and maybe that is what is happening now.

In follow up to the “amazing paper” published by the Greek research team, it appears that people at UCLA have offered a variety of counter arguments which are very critical the statistical methods used by the Greek team.

Interestingly, the UCLA team seems to summarily dismiss the VLF/ELF detection which is referred to by the Ukrainian, Greek, and Japanese researchers.

It looks to me like climate science, earth science, and medicine are being confounded by parties with conflicted interests.

The researchers at UCLA are paid by UCLA and the state of California. Does the State of California have a VLF array? From what I can tell, no. The Parkfield study appears to have no information on VLF or ELF emissions in the area of the fault. Even if arrays were present, you have to wonder if the natural phenomenon could be studied when California has such a high density of radios, cell phones, towers, etc.

    @WhiteMale -

Interesting idea about “adoption” of Haiti…the increase in labor force could help our economy substantially. But the assistance in the manufacturing and service industries will be limited because the banks are still choking the credit markets and the small businesses still can not get easy access to capital.

Making Haiti a territory of the United States would be a step further but appears necessary. Haiti appears to be a failed nation without government and without any way to get assistance for itself.

Someone noted the historic ties and similarities to Quebec. I would note the similarities to Louisiana also. The historic parallels between Katrina/New Orleans and the 2010 Earthquake in Port-au-Prince will be interesting to make in a few years time.

Going back to the issue of HARP and VLF/ELF emissions and spikes in magnetometer readings, I post two other interesting websites:

http://www.isr.lviv.ua/variant.htm – this website seems to be run out of the Ukraine. They do alot of discussion about ELF/VLF observations at polar regions prior to earthquakes. There seems to be a segment of the geophysical community that recognizes this issue and observation. Yet, others seem to dismiss it.

Notice the section titled, “Study of the ELF/VLF Emissions in the Ionosphere Associated with the Seismic Activity”

It appears that this research team in the Ukraine is so advanced with their evaluation that they are flying satellite payloads in polar orbit in order to evaluate if these EMRF emissions are related to quake activity.

    And, this amazing paper from
    http://www.nat-hazards-earth-syst-sci.net/9/1727/2009/nhess-9-1727-2009.pdf

The Italian research team evaluated their VLF data and concluded that the VLF data shows precursory activity prior to large earthquakes. They are enlarging their VLF antenna network.

Do any Keiser readers who are HAM radio operators know anything about monitoring of Ionosphere behavior using amateur radio equipment?

The changes in the ionosphere might be measurable with amateur radio equipment based upon sharing of data through the internet

I was suspicious when I noticed Bush giving his stupid grin and asking for cash too. Now the military has taken over the airport in Haiti and blocking incoming supplies.

Check out Clif High at halfpasthuman.com and George Ure at urbansurvival.com/week.html. They have been noticing in their computer linguistics that there will 8.0 earthquakes this year so hold on to your hats especially if you live in California!

You may have a point about Canada.

The reason why I’m serious in suggesting that Haiti be adopted by the U.S. is because we all know that Haiti is a victim of the imperial monetary system imposed by our ‘friends’ on Wall Street/City of London.

While the French were the main culprits, overall the imperial financial system has destroyed Haiti like it is trying to destroy what’s left of Iceland.

As a new rich adoptive parent, we could rebuild Haiti from scratch and put all of their people back to work.

China built the city of Ordos in less then 3 years with no people living there yet but Haiti has its people already in the country but it’s destroyed.

It will also put thousands of Americans back to work as well.

    WIN WIN situation!

  10. @Kricke242, As I was told in Basic, if it absolutely, positively has to be broken overnight, US Air Force.

  11. @whitemale08, Haiti already has extensive family connections, and significant cultural affinities, with Quebec. Canada is the logical adoptive patent., in one capacity or another.

  12. @Kricke242, For the US military, realistic applications are military applications.

  13. Haiti,….When you think about it,..why is there such a big panic after the earthquake for aid,..and no one did anything before?
Is it because the “public” need some sort of impetus to drive their inertia?
Or why do Governments not “act” without all the publicity?
Just a few of the myriad of questions everyone should be asking,…

On january 15th 2010, we had one of the longest solar eclipse. Piers Corbyn from Wheather Action uses the three variables to predict quite accurately the wheather: the effect of the Moon, the magnetic activity of the Sun and the Earth. Stimulating hypotheis. I read about Io and Jupiter. Jupiter is a huge planet and Io very small satellite and real close.

    http://www.weatheraction.com/pages/pv.asp?p=wact10&fsize=0

The Sun the Moon and Earth. Astrophysics applied to wheather. Probably works for sismology ? Interesting. If it’s the case for Io and Jupiter. Why not us ?

  15. @whitemale

Adopt is a nice word for what they’ve already done to Haiti. Subjugate, Constrict, Hog-tie. Take your pick.

I don’t imagine you looked at that documentary link I posted earlier to Haiti’s Piggy Bank. It’ll open your eyes…

  16. Why Not Adopt Haiti?

It might sound obsurd but Haiti needs to be rebuilt from scratch.

Nature has left Haiti as an orphan.

It could be by referendum by both countries and become temporary U.S. or until the island nation decides to become independent again; like Puerto Rico.

It would not set a slippery precadent because it wasn’t by ‘conquest’ or ‘fraud’ but by the will of the people.

    Think about it.

The Icelandic relief team in Haiti is surprised about this news about violence in Haiti. They say (through the telephone to Icelandic national radio news) that they have seen nothing but helpfulness and appreciation from the people of Haiti.
    =============

    Yes, this sounds about right.

One of the great tragedies of Icelandic broadcasting:

    1. No English shortwave service to Europe or North America at 2 x 100 kw

    – Even NZ got around to this, about 10y after the Rainbow Warrior bombing row…

    – Iceland has loads of hydropower, so energy costs were never an issue … and the transmitter / antenna system would only have been 2m Deutchmarks in the 1970s

    2. No omnibus English language TV news programme, 2x per day

    – DW TV has done so since the 1980s

Can you please explain the correlations between the magnetometer readings at the HARP Magnetometers 24-36 hours prior to the Magnitude 7.0+ earthquakes and the timing of these spikes in activity?

I do not understand what natural event creates this type of magnetic activity which could be detected by magnetometers at these various locations.

Please explain why magnetometers would see an increase in activity and why spectrometers seem to show increased activity in the 24-48 hours prior to the earthquakes.

should have unusual readings and variances before the Haiti quake as inter-mantle processes are bound to affect the eddy currents flowing out of magnetic poles.

There are a lot of quakes, so expect a lot of variance.

The preconditions to a large quake should produce more variance, but not universally…

I believe 911 was an inside job, but sorry, earthquakes are natural occurrences.
    ===========

There are many shades of inside jobs, and you don’t even need for there to be any kind of functioning inside job for the 911 thing to happen — all you need in heaps is

    1. Near universal nepotism at the governmental level, and where the public and the regulated private sector intersect (and they intersect a lot in the the US)

    2. A US airport security system ill designed for any any ally of Israel — that is to say anal probing before getting on US airplanes for domestic flights should have been defacto in 1980!

I could go on, as failure has thousands of parents…

  20. California Doctor

    @Marc –
Interactions between Jupiter and Io are thought to be related to the volcanic activity on Io.

Similarly, wouldn’t the Earth’s geologic activity be related to our Earth interacting with the moon and Sun?

It does seem logical that the same tidal forces which impact the movement of the oceans would also affect the iron core of the planet.

Since the moon is already known to have gravity wells due to distorted density of the lunar mass, and since the lunar mare are unilaterally present on the Earth-facing surface of the moon; it would seem logical that assymmetry in the Earth’s core’s convection currents would impact mantle physics.

A relationship between solar radiation seems difficult to fathom when the scale of energies are so logarithmically different.

However, the HARP data set shows a correlation.

When I look at the magnetometer graphs across their array, you can see spikes in data 24-36 hours prior to 7.0+ quakes.

Now, I have not done a statistical analysis to see if the data correlates, but that is the reason I posited and posted tonight.

I’d like to see if a MIT or Cal Tech student reading this board may be so inclined to number crunch and perform the necessary analysis.

  21. California Doctor

@ Bill Stewart – On earthquakes, SHTF scenario and civil unrest

Sir, you concluded that there is no correlation between the 7.0+ earthquakes mass casualty events and increased risk of civil unrest.

    I agree.

One reason is that the after math of major earthquakes is challenged. The people are forced to fend for themselves in the immediate hours after these major events. With no food or water, there is no physical energy for the populace to riot.

The Los Angeles Watts Riots of 1968 and also following the Rodney King verdicts in 1993 were with well fed rioters.

I would assume that the Revolutions in the 13 American colonies and the Bolshevik Russian Revolution were also with well-fed mobs.

  22. HAARP starts with a H like Haiti. That’s about itAre you serious about that HAARP stuff ? Don’t see how. It takes 100 to 200 H bombs to create a small earthquake. California Doctor hypothesis about the sun’s magnetic acrivity is more interesting. Don’t think that the Sun influence’s on eartquakes has been proven yet. But intuitevely it makes a lot of sense. You are dealing with models that have maybe 200 to 300 different varibales here. Probably an interaction between earth’s magnetic field and the sun. We don’t really know what is precisely going in the core or the mantle. It”s still a new science with a lot of riddles and mysteries. Like climatology.

Yet, I find it more than interesting to correlate the 7.0+ magnitude earthquakes and the HARP data set.

Can someone else take a look at the HARP data set from the magnetometer chain and see what they think?
    ==========

Sunspot activity is not known to stir up in inner mantle (via the magnetosphere propagating into the inner parts of the earth) that much, if anything the moon’s orbit has a greater effect.

HAARP, even if it had 1000x the energy output of the US would not be able to do that much except warm the ionosphere.

Released earthquake energy is generally mapped to atom bombs, and it takes several “Tzar Bomba” to make a modestly damaging earthquake.

  25. I suppose there is always the possibility of violence and social unrest after a major event like a war or earthquake — but violence and social unrest are not really linked with earthquakes.

There was no substantial soical unrest after

    1. The Armenian earthquake of the 1990s

    2. Recent earthquakes in Turkey, where there has been a similar loss of concrete-rebar structures (yet here I do grant some social unrest was present, but no more than limited scale protests)

As long as there can remain a constant pipeline of aid, I don’t expect there to be any kind of looting in Haiti to take place at all — what prey tell is there to steal except food and medical supplies?

The Carribean as a whole has limited size governmental structures (and limited infrastructure) — a hang over from the colonial era as well as a factor relating to the small population bases.

Most of the Carribean is at ‘carrying capacity’, but there are overpopulated sectors.

The impact of peak petrol on the region’s population is unknown except for Cuba that has flatlined its population growth since the 1980s.

    @Caspar -
    You’re missing the point.
When you have one million parts contracted by the lowest bidder, do you want to have those parts sitting idle for 18 months?

Or, would you prefer to have those parts moving to the front line, being used “in the shock and awe defense” and then ordering another million parts from the same guy?

Better yet, wouldn’t you like the bank to be backing that supplier and manufacturer and distributor and then line the pocket of the banker (hellllloooo Bilde-brother) and get re-elected to another term?

  27. California Doctor

The discussion on HAARP here is very interesting.
I went to USGS and reviewed the list of historic earthquakes.
    http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/world/historical.php

Compare the list of major earthquakes over 7.0 or close to it.

Then, compare to the magnetometer readings at the “Magnetometer Chain” at HARP…
    http://www.haarp.alaska.edu/haarp/data.html
If you go to this web page, there is a link to various “data” sources.

I am a bit surprised by this, and perhaps I should not be.

It has been conjectured by some that there are correlations between earthquake activity and solar radiation imparted to the Earth.

Solar Cycle 24 is in progress and a large sun spot appeared around 1/12/2010. One wonders if there is correlation to radiation incident to Earth resulting from the sun spot activity.

On the other hand, if the magnetometers were responding to something related to sun or solar radiation, you would expect all sensors to react similarly.

When I review the 24-48 hours prior to each magnitude 7.0 earthquake event (remember to correlate to UTC), there are significant variations in signal on the magnetometer chains at the Alaskan stations, specifically Gakona and Poker Flats.

I find this intriguing because the signal intensity seems to isolate to those two stations.

Prior to the 6.5 quake off Nor Cal on Jan 10, 2010, the sensors at Poker Flats and Gakona are silent, but the magnetometer at Katovik shows lower intensity readings (see Jan 09, 2010 at 1200 UTC)

Prior to the 7.0 quake off Haiti, there is significant intensity at four of the Alaskan stations. This makes me wonder if the intensity of signal is present due to either a large sun spot or other source of EMF.

When comparing the HARP data to NOAA solar observatory data reported at:
    http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/weekly/pdf/prf1793.pdf

THERE IS NO CORRELATION between NOAA sun spot activity and HARP.

NOT GOOD my friends…. there should be correlation between HARP data and the NOAA sunspot data. Either NOAA is off low or HARP is off high. The HAM radio guys are reporting sun spot activity over the past week.

So, HAM Radio guys are reporting sun spot activity (see K7RA’s webpage at http://www.arrl.org/news/stories/2010/01/15/11291/?nc=1)
K7RA seems to be conjecturing on the “windows” of propagation which will allow HAM radio operators in the USA to reach long range DX targets when communicating over the 20 meter band.

    Is something screwed up here?

I’m trained as a doctor and not in electromagnetics, solar astronomy, or radio astronomy.

Yet, I find it more than interesting to correlate the 7.0+ magnitude earthquakes and the HARP data set.

Can someone else take a look at the HARP data set from the magnetometer chain and see what they think?

    http://137.229.36.30/cgi-bin/magnetometer/magchain.cgi

  28. Well.. hmm.. this thread took a weird bounce, yes? If the Empire has a magic weapon called a “HAARP”, why spend all that money and blood in places like Afpak, Iraq, etc? Hmm? Merely point the thingie there and blast ‘em flat. If they could so easily cook up earthquakes, typhoons, and what not, they would save a HELL of a lot of money which they could shovel directly into their own pockets rather than spray all over the various deserts of the world.

    Just a thought.

  29. Checkout Google Trends for HAARP

Note also which country is taking most interest

  30. @BondiBhoy: I don’t know what intrests that might be, but (in the worst case scenario) the US can’t make Haiti any worse than it already is.

  31. @The Man from Glad: The US air force is one of the cosponsors amongst a number, but their interest in the project is most likely not to create earthquakes on Hispaniola or wormholes over Norway and other places. They may have a more realistic agenda.

  32. @Kricke242, If HAARP does not have military applications, why is it run by the US Air Force?

  33. @Kricke242

yes I agree. US govt agencies have been involved in many different sinister plots/conspiracies down the years but I seriously doubt they have the ability to shift or set off the Earth’s tectonic plates somehow. But I still think most US interventions overseas has ulterior motives and Haiti is no different, especially in light of the country’s historic position as a sort of US colony

  35. It was strange seeing Clinton, Dubya & Obama taking the White House podium yesterday and pushing people to send money to this Clinton/Bush website. Did anyone else notice that when Bush spoke, he said something like ‘don’t send blankets & water, send us your cash’ which I thought was a bit creepy & perhaps hinted at another agenda. Then Clinton spoke and he seemed to try and correct what Bush said. I dont know, maybe I’m reading too much into it & it was just Bush fu*king up his sentences as usual. But as other posters had asked, I wonder where all this Bush/Clinton cash for Haiti is really gonna end up. Probably in the back pockets of their ‘reconstruction’ & mercenary mates.

  36. Concerning HAARP: is it anyone outside of America who believe in this imbecile conspiracy-fantasy?

  37. @Veritas: EVERYONE on this planet is in league with criminals of different sorts and have various assigned tasks in the various existing schemes. You for example, is most likely a low order useful idiot for an entity like the JBS. :-)

  38. I hope this was not a HAARP experiment. Because if it is, than the illuminati, have their culling machine. Oh, well what will be , will be ka, sara, sara.

  39. Interesting NYT piece on Haiti in which the “pro-democracy building,” taxpayer funded group, the International Republican Institute is discussed:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/29/international/americas/29haiti.html?pagewanted=1&_r=3

  40. One thing that strikes me about the media coverage of Haiti, the media has no problem what so ever to show human bodies, a lot of human bodies, blood, squashed people under the rubble, death, death, death, violence, and so on from Haiti. The pictures are truly horrible to look at. But you’ll never see that coming from Iraq, Afghanistan or Pakistan where reputation and interests are at risk – need to control public opinion…
Also, I have yet to see looting in Haiti of the kind we in the west think of it to be, but I see fighting, struggle, “looting” to get food and water which is in my mind entirely different than steeling/looting television, vacuum cleaner, toothbrush, and so on, things they don’t need in order to survive.
Same thing happened in civilized USofA during Katrina, the media went bananas there too reporting wild stuff delaying the rescue and emergency people.

  41. @white hunter,, So Fulford is claiming a nuclear experiment was to blame, rather than HAARP, which he claimed for the 2008 China earthquake. The motivation he cites is rather convoluted, though possibly worth looking into. It looks like another social experiment, along the lines of Katrina.

  42. @white hunter, Thanks. I see Fulford has already claimed a HAARP – Haiti connection.

And there is already a related video at YouTube –

  43. I’m expecting Benjamin Fulford to say the earthquake was caused by HAARP.

  44. Noam Chomsky is in league with war criminal Henry Kissinger. Chomsky has an assigned task in the Bilderberg-led scheme.

Here’s a question: If everything is as simple and clear cut as the TV says or as Chomsky says, then why isn’t the Dominican Republic helping? They have roads that go into Haiti. They have an airport and sea ports. Where is the Cuban presence?

There’s more to the Haiti situation than the MSM or “alternative” press (meaning beholden to CIA) will tell you.

  45. anti_fascist_freedom_fighter

WTF? The propaganda requires we “race to deliver aid before Looting and Robbers take over.” Huh? Who’s kidding who? These “looters”, they’d be looting what? Cans of smashed beans from destroyed stores? These “robbers” they’d be robbing from whom? The purse of the rich woman who’s head is smashed in by the roof of her home?

We need the military to protect what? The wealthy person’s pile of rubble, I suppose, as opposed to the poor people’s pile of rubble. Heaven forbid some starving victim would foraging for food and seize lost, destroyed or abandoned goods, instead of seeking a job, getting paid, and waiting for the banks to be rebuilt so he could cash his check and then buy some food from a US multinational food producer.

Well, as long as the free markets survive, we all survive!

  56. The Republican/Democrat, Progressive/Conservative paradigm needs to be totally shattered before people can stand on their two feet and organize and have power.

We are being played against each other so that the One world Government can be put in place, while we dither about labels.

It’s finally becoming so obvious that both parties are the same, that our Presidents are chosen by the Bilderburg group and our elections are political theater that I can finally see a viable third party come about.

The appalling deceit of Barak Obama and the speed in which the mask has fallen off is having a unifying effect in the middle which is driving the Owners crazy. That’s why Obama’s concerted efforts to censor the internet and anybody who has a site about a “conspiracy” (which would include this site) would be considered a terrorist. But, thankfully Max and Stacy are outside of the US.

Obama’s attempt at a “good cop” message about the Bankers and their bonuses all the while he defends Geithner, keeping him on as his administration, support of Bernanke and Larry Summers is so obvious and it will not do the trick this time.

The Democratic party is going to loose the seat Massachusetts because people see through the bullshit. Unfortunately, the Republican is no better.

  58. Haiti, unfortunately has been a ‘lab rat’ for what the banksters on Wall Street/City of London wish to do the rest of the world.

Look at Iceland, it sees what the banksters are doing because it knows what Wall Street/City of London has done to developing countries like Haiti.

The British aristocrats brag throughout history how they want cities to have ‘narrow streets’ and ‘people living on top of one another’ in slums so they differintiate themselves from the fiat-paper masters.

So who is the phony “progressive” the minority who lead the movement or the grassroots rank and file. Although Ted Turner has many views which the average progressive would agree with he also holds many which they would find abhorent.

So does it really matter what we label ourselves or what others label us, you have to break down what peoples actual views our because labels and language can be used in such a way to subvert movements.

Rothchild/Rockeffer, Bilderburg, Trilateral Commission.

They are also eugenicists (sp) as well. Corporations genetically engineer food and seeds with insecticide in them which is ingested into the human body causing kidney, liver damage along with a host of diseases. The bees that eat the honey from these plants die.

Bees are the pollenators of many, many foods that are a part of the food supply. Nothing can replace the act of the honey bee in the food chain.

They are genetically engineering viruses and coming up with vaccines that in themselves are deadly.

They want 80% of the population dead. Why would they respond timely to save lives? They are responding in time to save face.

  63. @Gordo

Sure, the Elites and the Government can be considered one and the same. The corporations are just tools. Don’t blame the corporations for anything, it is the people controlling those corporations, the elites.

The corporations do not control anything. The elites do.

  64. Justget Itright

thanks mep concerning links of Fabianism-socialism
AJ recently talked a lot about it!

  67. I really don’t understand why the aid is so slow in getting there. The military was there very quickly sticking guns in people’s faces. If military planes can land why can’t aid get there?

They could air drop aid, they have the military there to keep people from going crazy……The nation of Iceland was waaaay ahead of the US, pulling people out doing what they could and they don’t have any money!!!!!!!

This is just pathetic, really. Aid could have been there much sooner. AND IT’S STILL NOT THERE. Of course the banks that are skimming money of each transaction from donors had to be done and then slowly released like a timed medicine. All the while people die and suffer.

AND THEN YOU HAVE THE MSM WITH WELL FED, RICH TALKING HEADS AND GOVERNMENT SHILLS DRESSED IN EXPENSIVE SUITS INTONING HOW THEIR HEARTS GO OUT TO THE PEOPLE OF HAITI.

    PUKE, PUKE.

  68. @Gordo

I understand the terms are fuzzy and have been co opted over time, but fascism is not hard right though that is the common interpretation. It is collusion and control of “Corporations” by an authoritarian state. We get caught up in false left right paradigms. Diverse forms of government can be Fascist.

This is George Bernard Shaw speaking of Fascist Mussolini

He criticizes Mussolini for always wearing a “Fascist” face while he “Shaw” is superior since he can change his face for the public. As a fabian socialist, don’t show your true intent.

  79. @WL

You actually believe progressives were in charge of the response to Katrina?

  80. @Stacy

I don’t suggest you want to cull people..

Progressive ideology is rooted in Fabian socialism. It is everywhere, the lack of real response help for Katrina Haiti and Rwanda fits that agenda. I see a contradiction.

  81. @Mep @chaostheory

I agree the labels are “fuzzy”. However, if you research Fabian Socialism and the Early Progressive movement you will be shocked. Now today, many may consider themselves Progressive without understanding the history and what it really is. It has become trendy with the education system run by progressives of course nobody really understands the roots and fundamental ideology. I suggest anyone who feels they are a progressive look beyond the shiny brochure and understand what this movement really is. There are Progressive Republicans as well.

I don’t have the time to dig up all the examples but population control is a reoccurring theme for Progressives, what does that mean. The state acts to control the population at the expense of individual. They claim scarcity of resources, climate change, etc to restrict development for the good of the “collective”. This is a sophisticated form of Eugenics. The lack of response to Katrina or the Haiti Earthquake follows this ideology. Why did Clinton turn his back on Rwanda??

I realize that this must sound a little crazy, but do some research and you will see that Fabian socialism clearly today.

George Orwell was a Fabian Socialist who turned on them and wrote his critical 1984. Fabian socialism started in 1884..

Animals are all equal, some are more equal than others “Eugenics” economic, cultural and physical

  86. @California Doctor: The Northridge Earthquake was magnitude 6.7, but there are other factors, such as liquifaction, that create different types of sturctural damage. This is why the destruction was widespread and sporadic, based on the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale.

    http://earthquake.usgs.gov/learn/teachers/Mag_vs_Int_Pkg.pdf

    http://www.earthquakecountry.info/video/northridge.html

    http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/states/events/1994_01_17.php

On the Richter Scale, each tenth equates to 10 times more powerful. This means that a 7.0 quake is 30 times more powerful than the 6.7 in Northridge.

On June 28, 1992, a Magnitude 7.3 quake hit in Landers, which is 60 times greater than the Northridge earthquake, yet the lack of dwellings made it insignificant damage wise, but it was nonetheless a powerful force:

So, if there are even small groups of people suffering from dehydrations and starvation – for only a matter of days – one must be prudent if entering such an area.

Americans on the way – majority will do so to give honest assistance and nothing else – perhaps some (higher ups and especially those “fucking Christians”) have nefarious goals and intentions (no surprise). Or USA can be just banned from entry (as Japan did in 1993 Kobe major earth quake). Cal Tech reported that Northridge was a 6.7 magnitude earthquake and was epicentered 19 km below the surface.

    http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/states/events/1994_01_17.php

    http://nisee.berkeley.edu/northridge/

The Port-Au-Prince temblor was 13 km below the surface and magnitude 7.0.

Therefore, the Port-au-Prince earthquake was at least 3 times more intensive than Northridge (remember that the scale is logarithmic, not linear).

Because Haitian building standards are likely less stringent and the shaking much more intensive, the damage is much more severe and the loss of life is much worse.

  100. @Mep

You say this sort of Malthusian view of depopulation is the spearhead of the progressive movement, I m sorry but I just dont see that. I ll grant you there are many highly placed so called progressives who feel that the lower classes need to be “taken care of” and or sterilized but this hardly constitutes the true grassroots progressive movement.

Most progressives, as far as overpopulation is conerned are worried about how much pollution each individual causes. Just because a small group of elites have usurped the message doesnt mean their views represent the progressive movement.

Link or source? I, for one, would be very interested in seeing which “prominent progressives” are out there calling for the culling of the poor.

  109. @stacyherbert: A lot of buildings “pancacked” onto their parking garages. Some CSUN dorm collapsed, and a few apartment buildings fell to the 1st floor – giving those occupants no chance of survival. The freeway collapses and a parking garage collapse at the Northridge mall took a few lives as well. A house collapsed and fell down a mountain somewhere in Laurel or Coldwater Cyn – that family didn’t survive. Plates and glass were thrown from kitchen cabinets in every home.

Hospitals in Tarzana, Santa Monica, and Stevenson Ranch were shut down because they were red tagged. Triage was the parking lot.

Gas lines that ruptured burnt several homes to a crisp. Water mains broke. It took several days to tend to everything, but the homes were still inhabitable for many months.

Elderly care homes were red tagged – causing a displacement of the elderly.

Thousands of homes were red tagged. Hotels were booked solid by people displaced from their homes.

For several days after the earthquake, it rained – further compounding the damage to homes. That’s earthquake weather at its finest.

I remember waking up on my hands and knees in the middle of my bedroom – that’s how strong the quake was in the Santa Monica Mountains. Thrown from my bed 10 feet. The house shook for a good 45-60 seconds. All you can do, in the dark, is hope the house and hillsides don’t collapse, while you hear glass, plates, furniture come crashing down. It’s no picnic! And you have no power, so there’s no way to tune into the TV for news or call people to make sure they’re alright. This was before cellphones were commonplace.

In almost every home, brick masonry fireplaces collapsed onto and through rooftops. Retaining walls and pools were fractured.

And for several days after the quake, there was this dust in the air that hospitalized people downwind, because there were a lot of spores and particulate in the air.

Being a CA native, I was always taught in school to be prepared. Don’t venture out without shoes, because there will be broken glass. Have spare water and food rations on hand to last several days. Keep spare batteries for the flashlights and portable radio. It goes on and on.

Tomorrow, Sunday, is the 16th anniversary of the Northridge Earthquake.

  110. There is also a logistic surreal situation happening over there at Haiti, the American hangar ship Carl Vinson that lay outside the harbor of Port-au-Prince do have good capacity to air transport supplies. As reports have said; they’ve already given away lots of the supply that was meant for the US crew. Also the airport at Port-au-Prince have ton’s of supply waiting to be distributed but due to lack of distributing contract/deal with the US Navy, the navy can’t fly out with those supplies to the needed.

  117. @Stacy

Can you clarify a contradiction? You seem to suggest that the ‘US” military aid is not there for the people but instead for control. I don’t know the answer… however, if that is true, you are describing Fabian Socialism, a form of Eugenics, population control. That very Fabian Socialism based in Marxist ideologies is the foundation for the Progressive movement. Too may people, not enough resources, population control. I sense you are a progressive and find this a contradiction.

I have heard prominent progressives suggesting that these impoverished nations should be effectively culled.

Isolate people who are not adding to the global civil society using up resources to reduce their population. Ironically, systemic poverty increases the reproductive rate which is one contradiction within Fabian Socialism always caused by economic manipulation and distortions. What the Deflationists Are Missing

As the train wreck approaches, the government is going to have to find creative new ways to fund its social contract with impatient voters. Perhaps, for instance, pegging everyday fines and assessments to the amount of income a person makes. Executed brashly, such policies might even allow the government to charge a person of means, say, $290,000 for a speeding violation.

I know what you’re thinking: C’mon, let’s be realistic – that could never happen. Think again…
    ((
Europe slapping rich with massive traffic fines
    By FRANK JORDANS

    The Associated Press
    Sunday, January 10, 2010; 11:30 AM

GENEVA — European countries are increasingly pegging speeding fines to income as a way to punish wealthy scofflaws who would otherwise ignore tickets.

Advocates say a $290,000 (euro203,180.83) speeding ticket slapped on a millionaire Ferrari driver in Switzerland was a fair and well-deserved example of the trend.

Germany, France, Austria and the Nordic countries also issue punishments based on a person’s wealth. In Germany the maximum fine can be as much as $16 million compared to only $1 million in Switzerland. Only Finland regularly hands out similarly hefty fines to speeding drivers, with the current record believed to be a euro170,000 (then about $190,000) ticket in 2004.

The Swiss court appeared to set a world record when it levied the fine in November on a man identified in the Swiss media only as “Roland S.” Judges in the eastern canton of St. Gallen described him as a “traffic thug” in their verdict, which only recently came to light.

“As far as we’re concerned this is very good,” Sabine Jurisch, a road safety campaigner with the Swiss group Road Cross.

Saw an interview [will try to find the video] of Colin Powell regarding the Hati disaster. Paraphrase: The first thing that must be done is to restore ORDER, then help can be given, bla-bla-bla …..

You betcha, the former 4 star general and almost first black President has his priortities in the right order. First restore order.

Yea and if necessary just kill the whole bunch to do it.

I was wondering where the hell our battlefield air droans were as they could be very helpful to survey sites which have been blocked by the earthquake.

Whoops, I guess they were busy droping bombs on Pakistan.

  122. Oh, and on looting, it’s a safe bet to surmise that once the bodies are all disposed of and the camera crews disappear, the media will fail to report on the REAL looting . . . which will happen once private contractors flock to Haiti for “reconstruction.”

    Operation “Prawn” is in effect.

If this isn’t another Rahm Emanuel, “never let a crisis go to waste”
    moment.

  124. @ Stacy – Just unbelievable! So what are doing? Is the international community just sending hundreds of millions in charitable donations and sending resources there so that the media can show us how great and compassionate we all are . . . only to terminate the real assistance once it gets too close to the potentially violent natives?

  125. @ind2www – I was in Northridge, too, which was the same on the richter scale give or take .1 point, but it was obviously different in that construction codes are pretty strict in California so there wasn’t nearly this much destruction and I believe that it was only one apartment building in Northridge that collapsed?

  126. @Mep – that Sanjay Gupta/Wolf Blitzer piece linked to talks about the UN shutting down a UN medical tent and forcing the Belgian doctors to leave against their will because fears that there could be violence; they just left the patients behind, some who had just come out of surgery . . . here is the photo I found in the comments of one of the articles:

    UN medical tent evacuated

  127. @ind2www I sort of agree with you but there talking as many as 200,000 dead all told a disaster like this goes above and beyond, sort of like the tsunami. With all due respect to compare this to anything that happened during the 1989 quakes is kind of ridiculous.

That being said we all know why the US government is getting involved and its obviously not an altruistic move, otherwise as you say they would be helping old ladies who are being foreclosed on like you said.

Also back on my racism theme there is this sort of feeling that those silly black people cant help themselves so they need help from the civilized white nation. But come on this type of destruction and anyone would need help even the good ole USA.

  128. To manufacture a man made earthquake you would need the nulclear power of a 100 to 200 H bombs !. I believe 911 was an inside job, but sorry, earquakes are natural occurrences. No conspiracy here. Port au Prince was built on the huge sismic carribean fault, like San Francisco was built on San Andread fault. It was evident it had to happen.

  129. Kerry Sanders appearing around 3:46 here. He says very clearly that he thinks the mostly likely scenario is that aid isn’t being delivered for security reasons. Sorry, but the people aren’t just poor, starving, and desperate . . . they’re unarmed. If our people are afraid of them, something is very, very wrong. By the time water gets in, the people are going to need IV drips, not just bottles of water.

  130. conspiracy theories have crazy claims that this is a man-made earthquake. any truth in this or evidence of device capable of doing this?

  131. It takes an earthquake to talk about Haiti. Haiti is hell 365 days a year: with OR without earthquakes. Bet you the “aid” would be much more quicker if they had oil. Haiti’s drama is that it has today nothing to offer for the rapacious western develped powers. Most of the time, boat people refugees coming from Haiti in Florida are treated like human cattle and sent back to their hell. Meanwhile the Cubans are treated like royalty. Obama is an hypocrit like Bush when it comes to the “Perle des Antilles”.

  132. Send in the military = survey and update CIA fact book

Help Groups = Bible bangers will be busy trying to convert everyone to Christianity, because God did this to them as punishment and they must repent

Screw them. I lived through the 1994 Northridge Earthquake when I was a kid. Nobody helped us. Millions of Los Angelinos without power, water, telephone – and three major freeways destroyed. Nobody helped San Francisco in 1989 either. I know many people who lost their homes and got fucked by insurance companies – and ended up losing their homes because it was easier to walk away and foreclose.

Americans should focus on their own problems first, rather than rush to help some county that gets along as it is without any standards.

Why doesn’t someone come to the aid of old ladies losing their homes to Golden Sacks instead of some country they are never going to visit?

Didn’t some country refuse the aide of the US Military a few years back? They said they could help themselves.

I’d like to see America help itself first. It’s complete bullshit and it karma will come back to haunt the media networks that choose to profit from this disaster.

Leave them alone for fuck’s sake.

  133. Here’s a clip from the Rachel Maddow Show:

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/#34887598

. . . looking for one from Keith Olbermann’s show where Kerry Sanders tells Keith that the aid isn’t getting through partly because the people tasked with delivering it are afraid of the hungry people.

  134. @chaostheory – of course they wouldn’t say this if it were Norway, but obviously they have to say this for the home audience to justify sending marines in for whatever purpose they might have there

  135. @Marc Authier – well, there were oil and/or gas deposits found off Cuba recently . . . wonder which side of the country?

  136. Agreed Stacy, any excuse to bring the troops in but I also think there is an undercurrent of racism. I feel like the same things wouldnt be said if this happened in say Denmark.

Also now that I read the transcript, that whole issue over the biscuits seems odd. Maybe it is how the reporter put it that the people thought the biscuits were expired, but there could also be something further to that maybe there is something in the biscuits making people sick.

Just seems odd that hungry people would reject free food, although we saw this in Africa with GMOs.

  137. “Is there oil there ?” Blackwater contractor.

  138. Justget Itright

@stacyh–or maybe people might help each other?

Yes, this would be great, a best case scenario. Thinking the humanitarian assembly to help and aid the disaster are the seamstress which will try and hold things together.

  139. @Mep – I agree; Democracy Now spoke to a few people on the ground there who described devastation but not the sort described in the MSM that suggests it is bizarrely impossible for aide or assistance to arrive but perfectly navigable by media and their satellite trucks?

  140. Fred's Family

Judging from the lack of B-roll to back up such a claim and the fact that the phones are hard to tap when they are buried under ruble.
Cell service just came back yesterday for the lucky ones.

How would anyone make such an assertion.
Unless they were trying to cook the story.

    Another observation.
What’s up with the T-shirts, Anderson and the rest don’t want to look too rich.
I think Her- Raldo started that in gulf war 1.

  141. I looked at the news this morning and could not help but just stare at the TV and cry. Reporters on the ground last night were saying that the roads in the city are passable. There are UN and other trucks driving around monitoring things. My gut tells me that people are being purposely denied food and water so that they DO riot–either that, or just quietly die. There is no other reason for the failure to deliver aid. Over and over I hear “they’re afraid that if they deliver aid, they will be surrounded and violence will ensue,” but what in fact they are doing is setting the stage for a self-fulfilling prophecy. The longer they withhold water and food, the more likely it is that chaos will accompany and and all attempts to deliver aid. These people are used to collecting their daily water and food first thing in the morning before they start their days . . . they’ve been without for what? 4, 5 days now? It’s criminal. They’re looking for an excuse to bring the Chinese, US, French, UN, and other troops in there with their weapons.

  142. @chaostheory – as @JT notes, the common theme is that the US Marines are always sent in to ‘restore’ the anarchy that almost happened

  143. @Justget Itright – or maybe people might help each other? civil society usually only collapses after disasters of the Hollywood sort

  144. Justget Itright

    @Mike

gold may go lower than 1000 to shake them out. (Just my opinion.)

  145. I dont think much about it basically the same racist bs that was said during Katrina, “oh we must be careful before the crazed black savages go wild” its pretty sick!

  146. Justget Itright

whatever threads that held civil law together will unwind. This is a tragedy at level no one would want to experience.

  147. Mike/Liverpool

    RonRon
With you on Wolf, he loves his “Hit attacks” My you David Duke caught him out.

BTW Marc Farber thinks Gold will drop to $1000 then bouce
    Mike

  148. 10,000 + US troops to arrive by Monday. Common theme here….will they actually help out or try bully the UN and take control? Seriously feel for the people of Haiti

  149. i hate wolf. he’s hoping for violence. what a prick. situation fucking room.
