  1. @DK I will be quoting you to a well meaning fairly honest but very ignorant radio host – on LBC. He has totally bought into the fear & is all the better at spreading it as a result!
@Mep I really value your comments your spot on!

  2. I agree with Max. I have zero empathy for the people on the Detroit flight. Not one tear. Not one gasp.

These people have nothing to do with me. They are flight safety statistics. I live with the fact, the fact, that all participation in the real world entails risk. I expect to see things like this happen given the 1000s of flights which occur each day. I know I won’t be on a flight with a bomb, ever. Neither will anyone reading this post., I promise. And you all know it.

I do not need to be protected. I do not need to be comforted or made to feel secure. I am secure.

What happened to the passengers on that Detroit flight must have been frightening for them. I repeat, for “them”. Not me. And nothing has changed.

The American people can no longer tell the difference between what happens on TV and the reality of how things that do happen to them or will happen to them in the real-life physical 3-dimensional world.

People today over-identify with things on TV and on the Internet. It’s become a disease, a kind of mental illness, an hysteria. People, please calm down. It’s not “your” football team that won the game. You didn’t win American Idol when your favorite got picked (stop crying you look ridiculous). You weren’t on that Detroit flight.

The trauma of the event belong to the people on that plane and their loved ones. No one else. We should be aware of their suffering and acknowledge it with quiet respect and deep gratitude that it was not us.

    Shit happens to people, period.

People sit their on their fat ass and “participate” in victories they watch on TV. After reloading the feed bowl, they return to their couch and wait (intentionally) for the chance to be “traumatized” by dangers and threats suffered by strangers at a safe distance.

The American people over-identify with every scary thing they see on TV and demand to be protected from it. Its disgusting. Have we learned nothing about ourselves in the last 20 years?

The worst part of it all is how certain things, like 9-11 cross the line into abomination. I am repulsed by the immoral grieving for ourselves, for the ghastly way we consider it “our” national loss. We are so busy remembering to “never forget” that we don’t have time to talk about or remember the victim’s families. Who ever talks abouts the rescue people who are now suffering from illnesses because they were trying to save people? Nobody. These are the victims, not you and i.

The overt appropriation of other people’s misfortune so that we can be upset, so that our deadened nerves and soft minds can experience a feeling, any feeling, is a national shame. I could puke. When the audience watches all these large nationally televised tragedies (ususally as entertainment or distraction, mind you, if we’re honest) they forget that the loss belongs to other people, not themselves.

It’s not empathy when it becomes the observer’s trauma. It’s psychic cannibalism.

I am not afraid of flying. I do not need federal protection. Let the TSA go. Let me board my flight, with my family and friends saying goodbye to me at the gate, like I used to. Leave me alone. Do not scan me. Do not question me. I am not a criminal. Here’s a tip for carrying my bags, now be on your way.

I don’t fear terrorism. I fear the people fighting terrorism “on my behalf”. Thanks, but no thanks.

The odds of me being the Twin Towers on 9-11 or on a flight with a bomb were astronomical and remain so. If the billions of dollars and proliferation of security agencies have meant anything at all, the odds should actually be less at this moment.

    ENOUGH ALREADY.

There is no danger for me and the Detroit incident has not changed that. Also, if I were to pretend I sincerely felt something for those people when I don’t I would be lieing. If I felt anything other than reserved regret and passing concern, I would have lost perspective and deserving the “protection” I received for that sloppy way of living my life.

  3. Casper Studly

@Photoception.. “Max Keiser and Stacy Herbert are CIA cyborgs”

Ya, you miss the point. We’re ALL CIA cyborgs here. This is where we gets our secret orders. But you gots to know the code. Dig?

Oh, oops. You not one of us? Hmm. Okay. Nevermind.

  4. OK, I would also like you to further explain how GREAT France is. I agree that the U.S. is no longer as pleasant and many social problems exist. France does have many qualities…I attended a french Lycee and was shocked when I attended U.S. university afterwards. However, france and certain French people are pretty blatantly racist towards French people of colonial origins. For full disclosure, I think you should mention this as this has been getting worse with many not able to get jobs even if qualified. Or is this not true? Thanks.

  5. I think you should explore the role of Government further. In particular Max’s comment that he does not see the Libertarian point view. Max using the fact that the government built roads etc…as reasons for why governments are needed is not very convincing as one could mention as many if not more poor things the government has done.

I think the point is that government has a propensity to be taken over by Big business (a distinction needs to be made from small to mid-size businesses who do not have access to the state and so have to compete freely). I can see how Libertarians can reach a conclusion that any authority is bad. Just substitute King for republic or democracy. Some have argued that a “GOOD” king works. And this is true, but rare and can lead to a tyrant. So the argument that a good government would work and could is true but can and often does lead to oligarchical states. I guess the point here is that yes a limited government works best, meaning limits need to be placed on what government, a monarchy, a republic, or a democracy can do for this to work. On the other hand, they are all susceptible to corruption or control of elites and this often happens (I believe Polybius discussed this). The problem comes in that to limit the bad that governments can do, you must limit the good as well. Eventually, elites can always lessen the limits as folks want the government to do good for them.

  6. I thought Max called Snoot Bird Reynolds

  7. what’s wrong with burt reynolds?

  8. Hmm, “Burt Reynolds”? Seemed a bit unfair to Snoot, one of the few here who seems to put a lot of consideration into her comments…

  9. most of what is considered “culture” these days…..is to take you in…while putting you as far “out”as possible….you are, they are….”better-off”…ig. that way……………

  10. Ed Limbaugh Schultz

    on the Mass vote

SCHULTZ (23:02): I tell you what, if I lived in Massachusetts I’d try to vote 10 times. I don’t know if they’d let me or not, but I’d try to. Yeah, that’s right. I’d cheat to keep these bastards out. I would. ‘Cause that’s exactly what they are.

  11. there is life; and there is existence. human beings & being human. uniformity & unity. organization & order. better & better off. utility & purpose.forensic & real. toleration & indifference.

  12. Ed Schultz admits White House texting MSNBC anchors during a show which he was a guest on. Ed is angry that the white House is critical of the HealthCare discussion appearing too liberal… The real outrage is that the White House is quarterbacking the media via direct texting the hosts. Liberal hypocrisy and double standards. Imagine the (rightfully so) outrage if FOX was caught doing this. They are all the same State controlled propaganda.

Ed Shultz the Ying of Rush Limbaughs Yang

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DC59K76LGK4

SCHULTZ (08:12): So Mika starts looking at her Blackberry and so does Scarborough and obviously the White House is texting them or emailing them or whatever and they didn’t like the show. Because Arianna had been on there, I’m on there, Howard Dean had been on there and they wanted some balance.

Now think about that – here’s the White House getting in contact with ‘Morning Joe’ because they’re afraid there’s too many lefties on the air! Now if that’s not sensitivity at its highest level, I don’t know what is! I told ya a few days ago they had rabbit ears! They don’t like anything that’s being said right now, they’re getting beat up!

  13. @ joe schmoe – On puppets, Sibel Edmonds has been doing an excellent job on her blog in exposing the powerful and their assault on our liberties, national interest, etc.

  14. ‘Push the fat fuckers down the hill’… yer dead right, empathy me arse, anger, anger is our energy. Great show, and the last two as well, managing to tap a creative vein it would seem. Lord of the Flies, good Freudian film that.
Saturdays TAM, Max should go down BBC White City and “have a go” off Paxman, I reckon Max’d knock the bolox off him. Kick him in the balls and when he’s down, kick him in the balls again.

  15. Stuart Doblin

War is a MAN-ifestation of our collective individual consciousness’s in conflict. No one at — – Peace — – could conceive of war.

The conflict is dis-associative, involving a split in Mind, it is therefore a psychotic condition (in need of therapy), which believes that safety/security/protection/care/and yes love, is found within attack (for example, spanking).

In order to believe in the conclusion: attack/spanking equals safety/security/protection/care and love, you must also believe that those outside of you, will receive one-hundred-percent of your hate, and that none of what you offer will cycle back to you.

The core question is thus: Can you give your fear/anxiety away? Is fear a transferrable commodity.

Fear represents a delusional State of Mind, in which anger is the Primary Motivating Force in the relationship, transverse wise, a relationship based upon anger is the way to end relating/communication/extension, so a relationship whose means are all ends, ends up becoming endless, and also useless.

War is useless and endless until we give up fear/anger/attack as faulty basis for a relationship and rely instead upon compassion/concern, and love.

    Seek only Love.

  16. @Max
talking about “you dont know who u can believe”

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDbJGcKftQY

  17. ,,, Rully good shooo! and comments section today. These are the core issues, that can be taken on at this time. Shed light on it.
The presidents have become less distinguishable for their conservative or democratic traditions: (just a simplified guideline: conserve= status quo, vs. democrats=humanist, agendas.)
They have kinda merged into innocuous puppets, channeling alfred e. newman personas with a sheep skin cred. Each one takes it a bit further, Less substance, and more format, and rhetorical skills. W had skills… in fact, he must have been slick’s stealth understudy. (in the down home genre.)
What is a Liberal, that and how many of em can fit on the head of a pin, can occupy a whole chapter.
MM once achieved his thesis, (in my opinion) with the title, alone, ( the book: “The Media is the Message.) The title was the message. the book was a little dense.
And that is to say: the MEDIA is the main show, with lots of sound and fury at each other the “Left and the Right” “wrestle”… just like wrestling on tv. Mostly fake, but they have to be athletic, like in the movie.
Show some “Change that can be Believed in”, no, same old same ol. The media spins on but there’s no difference at all. The main hot line is the one to Wall street. as they say.

Great insight there on last weeks show about the “financial services agreements” visa vis: prohibitions on the size of banks etc. As some of the best of media experts go on to debate the merits of Glass Stiegle, or re-regulations, that have no chance, under the WTO.

  18. frances snoot

What if you don’t see yourself as a ever being a rendered-citizen and you don’t believe in the Divine?

  19. what seems to be mostly missing….is the apprehension that the STATE; a true criminal enterprise….is making the entirety of the non-state…..TOTALLY criminal…how Hobbesian, how perfectly convenient & quite profitable to boot.

Now, one can actually appreciate the advantage of being categorized as a Person as opposed to be rendered a “citizen”. Persons are created by the Divine…..Citizens are incorporated by the Neo Divine…the Neo Omnipotent….the Neo Immutable.

  20. @Mep

I hear you. I feel exactly as you do.

  21. And to watch Obama place his hand on Lincoln’s bible as he was sworn in and invoke Lincoln words and life makes me want to puke.

  22. http://www.counterpunch.org/goekler03242009.html

This is an article in which the author makes a statistical comparison between the chances of a person dying of various things like heart failure, a car accident, the flu and the chances of dying as a result of some terror related event. I think it speaks to what Stacey was saying about how nobody freaks out over the things that kill a great deal of people, very often, while everybody seems to freak out over a certain ism that they actually have a relatively slim chance of being affected by.

  23. We are only as unique as our adherence to the principals that this nation was founded on. That’s it.

Boastful pride in military might, blindness to our true condition, blinded by our pride and greed, lack of vegilence to truth, honor and goodness. These things we are being judged by and rightly so.

  24. @Max did you say the something to the effect that
the gov’t and NASA together is good?
It’s just more of the military/industrial complex, ‘cept in outer space.
Private industry can/could do anything, given the “capital” the gov’t has.
Only thing gov’t does good, is do it WORSE!

  25. Excellent responses!

Many people I know are finally waking up and many are not. We have been fed John Wayne in WWII movies, westerns that promote the idea of fearless independency or black hats vs white hats……since we were children and since our parents were children.

A wonderful life staring Jimmy Stewart was considered by the FBI propoganda for communism ……!

I guess I am heart sick about this country. The struggle that brought about the constitution, the bill of rights….despite the flaws of the men who wrote those documents and despite the uneven application of these rights to some groups, was worth the blood and was good. And some like myself, still believe these words to be true:

“Four score and seven years ago our fathers brough forth on this continent. a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation or any nation so conceived and so dedicated , can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.

But, in a large sense, we can not dedicate–we can not consecrate–we can not hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or detract.

The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us –that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion.

That we here highly resolve that these dead shall have not died in vain that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom and that government OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE, SHALL NOT PERISH FROM THE EARTH.”

We are watching this perish from the earth, right now. This nation so conceived is perishing.

I don’t know about anyone else, but this breaks my heart.

  26. @mep

    Good one

  27. I’m borrowing from he who has been called the post-modern Che so that I may be lazy in commenting:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OTy3aLBSMw

Watch, and then think about it, folks. Why doesn’t the “liberal media” here in the US ever talk about the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine, or anything else that really matters around the world? Could it be because the owners of the media want to be free to do business with mass murderers and free to do business in areas of the world where dictators oppress, torture, and kill those who oppose corporate and fascistic rule? Could it also be that they don’t want to anger other corporations who pay media outlets millions each year via advertising–corporations which also want to be free to do business wherever they wish around the world without the American public bitching about things like human rights violations, genocide, torture, sweatshops, etc.? Yes, Faux news is the shittiest, most vile propaganda network out there, but they don’t stand in opposition to “the liberal media”; they operate in competition against other corporate media outlets that realize they can’t all get away with being as vile and transparent as Faux news. NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, CNN, etc. serve the same power interests as does Faux; they just go about it in a more palatable way.

  28. all news is lies

News is rumour. Rumour may have basis in ‘truth’ but is not verifiable.

  29. @ jim

I think the oldest profession was getting something to eat. Then perhaps bullying for food or sex or a safer spot, then protecting someone who got you something to eat or who puts out and putting out tie for third oldest.

When Max talks about France caring about human rights, I wonder if he means French human rights, but even then, it doesn’t resonate with my knowledge of France. I guess in all fairness it’s a relative thing. But I think one should be careful to understand the entire cycle. If “rights” are purchased through abuses, trespasses, or the with-holding of opportunity from others, then they’re not so much rights as luxuries for a few.

  30. Max Keiser and Stacy Herbert are CIA cyborgs. They were created to distract you from the real crooks, the Crab People!

  31. @jim
    MISSED YA MAN… MISSED YA!!!

  32. “all news is lies….all propaganda is disguised as news”….Willy Munzenberg

  33. as for propaganda…truly, the oldest human profession….check out Willi Munzenberg to resolve any confusions…

  34. @Stacy

My observations would not support your assertions..

Maher criticizes Obama for not being “Left enough”, besides Maher is a piece of merde

As for studies, the liberals own the media, higher education and are far better at propapanda than Murdoch and FOX.

Media studies are propaganda, I know I worked in the field.

I agree with your FOX criticisms but you have missed a larger, more insidious propaganda machine, the liberal media.

  35. Max you have induced wonderful recollections of the history of France….I guess my all-time favorite was after Napoleon invaded Egypt….of course, stealing it from England for purposes of then further stealing back India & eventually South Africa…then, of course, re-stealing back America…..well anyway; Nappy then went forward & literally made himself the Caliph of the Ottoman world….soo ecumenical…especially after making Notre Dame the Goddess of Reason in the vein of some Frankish Hagia Sophia.

Others that come to mind were dealings with Toussaint l’Overture…..who oddly thought that he too was a Napoleon. Then, of course, moving the Vatican & the Pope to Avignon for a hundred years demonstrated no lack of confidence. Then, of course, there was the Machiavellian master mind Richelieu & his trusty Pere Joseph…to this day the envy & model of every hard working psychopath since.

Sadly Max you are “classically” Amerikan….still believing the world started with your “curious” career on Wall Street.

Not to worry…Scott, Zelda & many other wannabees shared your afflictions & confusions…..and so it goes.

  36. @WL – Now, I cheer when FOX goes after Obama as I am against Statism, fascism and totalitarian regimes

And, thus, perpetuating that whole Red Team / Blue Team paradigm for Fox were CHEERLEADING Bush’s total overthrow of the Constitution, “that piece of paper” as Bush called it. They were arguing all the time for the right to detain people indefintitely at the whim of King George.

On the other side, we link to Glenn Greenwald all the time because hehas been pointing out all the hypocrisy of those who were against Bush crimes but are now for Obama crimes.

And re: Bill Maher, he hasn’t been on air for about two or three months now, but he was totally slamming Obama.

And alleged ‘liberal’ bias of the media has been disproven in many studies. Come on, NBC was until recently owned by GE. Name me one single network and provide some links to show that, for example, they were against the war, any of the wars.

  37. @Stacy

I am not American nor a FOX apologist. In my observation, FOX is in the minority and the other media has been completely captured by the Obama administration. I would cheer when the media, Letterman, Maher would slam the Bush/Cheney regime, but now they all kiss Obamas ass and continue to Bash conservatives. The CNN, ABC, NBCs have become the FOX for Obama. Frankly, a PR branch of the WhiteHouse just as FOX was.

Now, I cheer when FOX goes after Obama as I am against Statism, fascism and totalitarian regimes.

I guess being out of the US you guys have lost track of the media bias. I can assure you that the hypocrisy is palpable. I would say that 80% of the media is liberal/Obama friendly. He and the Dems are not challenged by anyone other than FOX. Sad really.

The media paradigm has shifted, but not in a good way.

  38. What’s really un-nerving is the pseudo-intellectual application of terms for effect.

Like labeling Derrida as trite and silly. Mind you, those who apply these stickers have not read Derrida, but only Wikipedia’s status quozy.

Or determining that deconstructive analysis has not place in skeptical application of a text.

Well, ignorance is bliss. We say slavery: you say “new-definition-of-GDP”. We say European hypocrisy: you say “humanitarian relief effort”.

    No cognition required.

  39. [Add your own example here.....]

…..are you speaking of cognitive dissonance? Wiki has it wrong. The chicken has to be apparent for any egg to be laid. The chicken being the presupposed signification of a stimuli according to a causal understanding. The egg is the introduced signification which either aligns with the chicken or not. If one’s causal understanding is confirmed, then the egg does proceed from the chicken. If one’s causal understanding is disturbed, then one wonders where the egg came from and if it is an acceptable stimuli: confirmed by prior understanding.

A black swan event would be different: producing neither dissonance nor confirmation but rather fear as it proceeds from a realm in which the cognition has no prior feeling.

    Black swans are fear-inducing stimuli.

The idea that two ideas that are oxymoronic are dissonant cognants is not necessarily true as indicated by the fact that the thinker is capable of accepting both. One actually proceeds (lays) the other.

“I want govt. to spend $3 trillion of my tax dollars on wars against Muslims, etc.” AND ” I don’t think anyone should have to pay taxes.”

My tax money should go to support a system in which I (the white middle class I assume here) am supported in my outrageous lifestyle by the US military which I support through tax. I just don’t want those without my advantage to receive any advantage through taxation. Keep em down.

See? Chicken, egg, no dissonance. The left is labeling hypocrisy as a form of cognitive dissonance.

  40. @WL – it sounds like you have an agenda regarding Fox News and the Red Team; I don’t live in the states so can’t watch ABC or NBC or CBS news; if any clips make it to Youtube, I might see them there; CNN I only watch when I am in hotels and then can’t watch because they play the same 15 minutes over and over and over again and with so many commercials, so I will tend to switch to Aljazeera English who has more original programming; the fact that ABC, NBC, CBS or CNN clips fail to make it to Youtube where all team members are free to post suggests that their propaganda is more mundane or less newsworthy; again, Roger Ailes is a businessman who has played on this sense of outrage that people would feel on one side and ecstasy on the other; and by the way, I like watching the Fox News and its propaganda; most of it has failed to sway me to adopt the ideologies they support, but you can’t say I have said I despise propaganda unless you define for me what you mean by propaganda

  41. @Stacy

I have a degree in Media Communications from a “Lefty left” institution and I worked in Advertising, media and publishing prior to becoming a lazy piece of crap gambling my wealth in our casino gulag. So, I have an acute sense of propaganda. The “publicly perceived” role of the media as the fourth estate has always been corrupted by money and power. Why have you never mentioned the all Obama channels of ABC, NBC, CNN giving. There is no difference from what FOX does. I have been keeping score…

In fact, the media is far more Democrat/liberal biased than Republican/conservative. So FOX is in the minority, yet you guys mention Murdoch and FOX constantly. I don’t disagree with your interpretation, but you are engaging in the very propaganda you claim to despise. Critical thinking should not be a one way street.

  42. frances snoot

“Dissonance normally occurs when a person perceives a logical inconsistency among his or her cognitions.”

First off: cognitions are personal reactions to external stimuli. The match is dissonant when the cognant does not agree with prior causal understanding.

Most real rational minds come into conflict as a general rule; the idea that mental dissonance can be avoided is rubbish.

We can’t brush the cat’s fur one way and expect her to purr. People are quite capable of dealing with contradition. It is the progressive-idealized state that prefers there be no contradition, no cognitive intrustion, no discourse. Right? Wasn’t that the point to the cognitive infiltration? That the progressive state (there is one, it emanates from the EU/UN) does not accept the virtue or possibility of dialogue as a form of free interchange but prefers a necessity-driven ‘truth’ to discursive reality.

The form of marginalization under this protocal is particularly obnoxious.

  45. @Chris – thanks for that! yeah, California is the most cognitively dissonant of all states it would appear; voters choose all sorts of police state three strikes your out sort of stuff but always seem to prefer issuing bonds rather than raising taxes to pay for it

@WL – we talked about BBC, MSNBC, CNBC, etc. in yesterday’s broadcast too; Fox was used in this case for expediency because even former Republican political consultant, Roger Ailes, doesn’t exactly try to hide the fact that he uses Fox to promote Republican / Red Team policy and candidates

  48. @Max, Stacy

Cognitive dissonance is the psychological term for holding 2 conflicting (dissonant) ideas in one’s mind at the same time. Most normal rational brains would not tolerate this but, as Orwell showed the true sign of mind control is when people are willing to accept blatantly contradictory notions (eg. “War is Peace”). Modern successes of government cog. dif. are many, so that now much of the population is able to simultaneously hold such dissonant ideas as:

“I want govt. to spend $3 trillion of my tax dollars on wars against Muslims, etc.” AND ” I don’t think anyone should have to pay taxes.”

“I’m opposed to socialism: big gov’t handouts to people who don’t deserver it” AND “I have no problem with big govt hand outs to bankers security firms, etc”

    [Add your own example here.....]

  49. HAHAHA

    Snoot….. Bird Reynolds

    Great show..

Max and Stacy, c’mon Why do you only point to Fox as propaganda when all MSMs are full of it. You always point out propaganda when it goes against your ideology. It is everywhere, aren’t you using propaganda to promote your views. Lack of critical thinking is the problem. Every form of communication is propaganda as the presenter always has an ideology.

The medium is the message and all that..

  50. @ SG

Yes, the means and the ends are one and the same. Gandhi likened believing otherwise to planting the seeds of a noxious weed and expecting to grow roses.

I believe also, that the means come to define those who engage in them. They take on a life of their own. Which is why I believe in forgiveness, and loving my enemies (which mean striving to understand them and seeing them as more than a label in reference to their harmful/disruptive actions), and hope to become a much more positive and joyful person. Because otherwise people react to wrong, harmful acts with anger, hurt, frustration etc, and end up passing those things further into the world, thus becoming contributors to the same cycle. Instead I hope to break the link in the harmful chains that reach me, and put helpful chains forward.

A typical ‘programmed’ comment: “Anarchy canot be an organizing principle of human society. It is a condition where all humanity is at war with itself, where the only redress against transgression is one’s ability to inflict violence. Unless of course you start making alliances, and then there goes your anarchy.”

To be free means to be at war with yourself = You have to take full responsibility for yourself. How scary!

Of course, anarchy doesn’t means people can’t cooperate, on the contrary, as with the free market, people will cooperate more. The state is just a middleman.

Anyway, I’ll stop talking about this scary thing called ‘anarchy’. It’s not fair to point out the flaws in people’s programming. Perhaps the propaganda will eventually wear off.

The good thing is that the more people wake up and take responsibility or themselves, the closer they move towards ‘no leaders’/Anarchy.

But the negative connotation/programming will prevent them from using that term. So let’s agree to call it freedom.

    Less scary?

  56. I don’t agree with Max that at any point Americans knew what was right or wrong. They had a brief window of prosperity purchased with genocide, slavery, ecological plunder, and being on the winning side of wars. That prosperity made it cheap and easy to live superficially “good” and “right” lives. But if you don’t live good and right when it’s hard, you never understood it.

America has never lived sustainably or ethically. Their means has always been brutal for someone somewhere. They haven’t lost their sense of right and wrong. They’ve only lost the cushy conditions that made their superficial expression of such, easy and thus more prevalent.

  57. I think it is likely that the gov’t even starts groups. If they know there will be resistance to say, Genetically Tampered foods, they can covertly form a group to attract and misdirect and misuse the public’s energy. By insisting on using the industrie’s language of Genetically Engineered foods, as if the complexity of processes involved warrants the use of a word that also denotes predictability of outcomes, which GT foods DO NOT possess.

  58. Why are you calling ‘them’ Anarchists?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarchy
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarchism

    “without rulers”

The worst propaganda is believing you can’t live peacefully without ‘them’.

When you were a kid, your parents were your ‘leaders’, but you grew up and learned to live by yourself.

    It’s the truth.

Oh, come on, Cindy. We don’t have to ‘do it’ on the first date. But I did pay for the movie.

No, Ronald. The truth. We need to embrace the truth. It’s sitting there in between us! We Americans need to have real values, home-spun virtue, like our forefather’s did. Like covered-wagons, Betsy Ross, Honest Abe, and Benjamin Franklin!

Cindy, you lying about not having any weed?

How can you be so crass, Ronald!!! I’m moving to FRANCE. They have real family values there.

Suit yourself, Cindy. You’re bringing real tears to my eyes, you know that?

In FRANCE the people are nice to each other all-the-time, Ronald, not just when they want something like sex. They have time for ‘family meals’, and they don’t drink Coke. But you wouldn’t know about that: you were born in Texas.

Well, Cindy. It’s adios for me and you. People’s people, Cindy. You got some salt-water-taffy stuck in your frontal lobe. I’m outta here. chao.

IT’S TRUE. IT’S TRUE. IT’S TRUE. I hate ya foreva and eva, Ronald, you and those American values!!!

  62. Max, I am not sure what you and Stacy did on New Year’s eve but your shows in 2010 are much better than usual.
Your statement about the death of traditional American values – honesty , openness, and meritocracy – is something I have been dying to hear from anybody as I feel strongly that this is the problem with the USA.
I understand your decision to live in another country (I might imitate you as I speak French) , but do you have any workable, actionable ideas on how to improve the US?

  63. I made a formal complaint to the BBC several months ago arguing that in not giving equal coverage to those economists/politicians and commentators who predicted the economic meltdown (eg Ron Paul, Peter Schiff, Max&Stacy) the BBC news is violating its own editiroial policy which states that
“we strive to reflect a wide range of opinion and explore a range and conflict of views so that no significant strand of thought is knowingly unreflected or under represented.”

After 4 responses I have had no direct answer, just a lot of boilerplate and attempts to sidettrack. I’m at the final stage of the complaints process (its with the director of BBC news right now) – I’ll keep you informed if you’re interested.

  64. Max you rail against the american empire and are very uncritical of France whose empire was one of the worst. See the record of north africa, central africa, not to mention Haiti. Paris was not built on love but on violence and theft.

  65. @maxkeiser.com
As always… Cheers for the show Y’ALL!!!

  66. haha. @Bonn your lucky your a skinny fucker. new max was gonna have a bad dream.

  67. In the USSR, they would declare you crazy, put you away and drug you with the help of the “nice” soviet psychiatrist. DSM IV will soon introduce a new category or “mental disease” ; critical thinking. Welcome to Obama’s brown shirts. I am surprised that Joseph Goebbels Sustein hasn’t considered using the psychiatric establishment. Not yet. Obama is kleptocrat lie Bush and he’s crazy. I call it a Robert Mugabé streak or temptation. American values ? “Sex, drugs, guns and oil.”
