The UK’s soft-crime initiative is now a multimillion-pound industry: parking fines levied last year totalled £330m, with another £100m from speed cameras. These numbers are expected to grow, along with fines for a burgeoning range of offences for everything from overloading wheelie bins to feeding the ducks. Some 200,000 spot fines for these garnered £12m last year.
Critics say this has the dual corrosive effect of penalising the mostly law-abiding middle class, while diverting enforcement resources from more serious, but hard-to-prosecute criminals. The disclosures also undermine police assurances that “law-abiding citizens need have no fear” of the UK-wide surveillance network of spy cameras.
This target culture has allegedly led to unethical practices during roadside stops, according to concerned police sources. Some officers, they say, trawl through drivers’ personal data on police databases to find any reason to arrest. Alternatively, they “wind up” motorists who, in their frustration, become abusive and are then arrested for a public-order offence.

I was having a conversation about all this while waiting to pay my fine a couple of days ago… the guy stood next to me had a on the spot fine for swearing at two traffic wardens… I think you do 6 weeks inside if you don’t pay…. swearing in public was my crime also… All because… a few months back… I saw a copper trying to arrest a girl of about fourteen in the street (from my daughters school) the copper had the girl face down on the pavement with his knee in her back …almost breaking her shoulder with an arm lock… I started screaming at him is that how his mother had brought him up to treat girls or women… and he was a PRICK!!!… ooops guess who ends up in a POLICE VAN as well… £100 fine and a court appearance… sometimes I’m so asamed of this country…and it was one of the saddest experiences in my life!!!

I was talking to some friends who have returned from England and have no intention of returning. Basically; they described to me a nightmare society of oppression and appearances. This article basically matches many of the things they mentioned. Very sad.
This means they are invested in the continuance of crime.
There are countless ways to reduce crime by careful observation of people and creating a psychological environment (culture, healthy means of expression, opportunity, fairness), and a physical environment (lines of sight, lighting) that are conducive to less crime. But this policy of seeking profit through punishing criminals rather than shaping a society into something healthy and resistant to crime, means the state is invested in obscuring and ignoring the solutions, and creating further degradation of conditions so that crime escalates.
It’s right in line with my belief that western societies are intentionally being destroyed from within.

I didn’t get get arrested and not trying to top your story.
Last year, the Coppers and Community Support Cunts were arresting a “local drunk” in Notting Hill. He was crying and I was outraged. These people don’t bother anyone except the snob class and gods in uniform. I said WTF is going on and they threatened to arrest ME.
People had supposedly complained but the offended were nowhere to be seen. Perhaps my USA accent convinced them it wasn’t a good idea to push me further so they politely asked me to leave, which I did after I realised they were only on a mission to humiliate the helpless.
The “drunk” was back on the street the next day and their statistics remain intact. Isn’t life beautiful?
Well this at least explains why cops there are so eager to arrest and fine people.
Call it fascism, call it the profit motive, it’s the same thing really.

My friends and family are tracking police activity in our area.
We have seen a marked increase in the number of tickets written by CHP and Local Law Enforcement.
It is obvious that the cities and state are using the police state to steal more money from citizens who get nailed in speed traps, cell phone use accusations, sticker missing scams.
Does the State of California and the CHP actually believe that writing more tickets will save the California economy?
I wonder if the Indian reservations can sell any land to people who want to move there.
I’d rather be on an Indian reservation than live in a state where they have no economy. At least California Indian reservations are being injected with thousands of dollars a day in gambling money.
As the Californians lose their houses and their cars and their health, they go to the gaming casinos and lose more to the Indians.
