  1. @Problem Is – Max didn’t “have time to read the 150+ comments” either and didn’t read yours. (j/k)

  2. Hey Max,

I don’t have time to read the 150+ comments so maybe some one already mentioned this. You could make it more clear about what Brown and Darling’s responsibilities were in this.

It is Darling’s job to regulate the banks that operate in the UK including foreign banks. So if Ice Save operated in a fashion that was criminal or in violation of UK banking law… then it is DARLING AND BROWN’S FAULT UK citizens lost money. Not Iceland’s.

Just like the US where Swiss bank UBS committed major fraud. It is the fault of Ben Bernak-ster and the Fed, the FDIC and the SEC that UBS operated fraudulently IN THE US.

It is US regulators responsibility to make sure foreign banks follow the rules.

Brown is covering his own incompetent ass on this by blaming Iceland. You need to point that out more directly on this issue. It would have ended your interviewer’s questions right there.

It is Brown and Darling’s fault banks operating in the UK were not properly regulated.

    Good interview though.

  3. @jon,

Thanks for the information and I understand what you are saying about what America was then and what it is now. It is very sad.

My local paper printed an article written by a high ranking officer in the military telling of the high suicide rate in the military. This has been kept quiet but it’s finally coming out. This officer’s career is over, but he dosen’t care….he’s telling the truth of these poor soliders…..very sad day indeed. Compare this with the men you are telling about in your stories….criminal is what it is.

  4. @Max: thanks for the excellent interview (they are getting more political every day! ;-)
@Jon: thanks for the WW2 war stories. They were new to me and I really enjoyed reading them!

Acceptance of the transitory nature of time and perspective need not result in a bath-tub suicide. Rather: the gain of accepting one’s inherent transitory and changing status on the earth is one indicative of freedom and a viable mind.

  10. frances snoot

    @DanV:

Well, you keep trusting Volcker, he’ll be sure to hasten that day of ‘time reckons no longer’ for you.

  11. @FS…”I wonder: when we die if time ceases to have relevance?”

Yes to the dead nothing is relevant in the scope of things as we know them while alive.

  12. @FS”The ‘whiney’ character to the music defines wistfulness and loss: but great gain through acceptance.”

Yes it does conjure images of a distraught individual sitting in tepid bath water sobbing …getting frustrated and finally putting the gun in the mouth ahhh acceptance.

  13. frances snoot

The ‘founding fathers’ had slaves. They had a pretense of religious fervor: it was a fundamental system of human marginalization for the gain of the few with advantage.

Having a perspective that includes an ‘objective’ god does not make one a better person.

Indeed, the hegemony of the church was used to grab land from indigenous people worldwide for the crown interests.

  14. frances snoot

    @DanValley:
I wonder: when we die if time ceases to have relevance?

The ‘whiney’ character to the music defines wistfulness and loss: but great gain through acceptance.

Going out or coming in: time is lucid and silent.

How about giving an nice interview on Greek TV ? It would be real entertaining. Since the debts od Greece have nothing to do with the Icelandic peanuts. 264 billion euros of problematic debts is much more explosive than 5 billion. And Ireland. I am sure you would be welcome, Well. Not necessarily on TV ? Anyways certain TV stations.

Seems like Bernanke is gonna be Bernankesan going the Japanese way – Zero Rates – quantitative easing – injecting more reserves.

Quote Bloomberg: ” The Bank of Japan has been the only major central bank in modern times to mix a policy of steep rate reductions with quantitative easing, or the strategy of injecting more reserves into the banking system than needed to keep the target rate at zero. Spur Growth – Japan’s central bank kept its main rate at zero from 2001 to 2006 while flooding the banking system with extra cash to encourage lending, spur growth and overcome deflation. The abundant funds failed to prompt lending by commercial banks, which expanded their reserves at the central bank almost nine times by early 2004.”

Remove them all dignity. At the airport. At Wal Mart. At the office. And steal them in every way possible, may it be in the name of saving Goldman Sachs or Mother Earth.

Give liberty or give me a naked bodu scanner and a RDFI.

    @Jon –
The power of the people can only be expressed at the ballot box and before a Sovereign God.

It was interesting to read the agnostic and atheistic commentary in some of the postings of readers.

There is an essential thread in the fabric of the revolutions of the Industrial Revolution. That thread was respect for and calling upon a Creator for unalienable rights bestowed by God upon each person.

The conflict which our generation confronts, similar to the struggle of 1939, has common origins in the exact same families and ethnic groups.

But, this time, it does not appear that the United States is central to the victory scenario. Regretably, it appears that these banking clans have already pre-determined China to be the victor.

For this reason, our struggle to free our future children and grandchildren from the financial terror and enslavement must start now.

I am not here to drink Tea.

I am here to breathe free.

I know not what course others may take, but as for me.

GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH.

HEY… there is a new word in the virtual web world this weekend… yeah… ‘REAL’ everybody is using… I think I will too!!!

  40. Now this is an interview!

  41. To think of it you desserve this elected african dictator in the US.
I forgot the homeless centers. That too is cool. Maybe they will have nice tents ? and Bill Gates vaccines ?

  42. In addition, aid for other services such as soup kitchens, homeless shelters and transit cards for students will be sapped with no way for the city to make up the funding.

“This executive budget would have devastating effects on essential services in New York City,” Bloomberg said.

No more soup kitchens in New-York. Strange I see a connection with the record bonuses Goldman Satan Sachs. There is definite relation. That and Obanana the “job creator” (only for Washington lobbyists and the usual imperial killer scum). Cool hey. No more kirchen soups in NYC. Can’t afford such a luxury.

  43. The KEY WORD: EVERYWHERE

(Except at the Pentagon, at the CIA, at the FBI, at the Homeland Security, at the Federal parasite bloodsucking government and theit buddies from Wall Street). The closer you are from real people and real economy the harder you are hit. Is there really a difference between Iceland, Greece and the USA ? Less and less.

  44. American Cities. For Ferbruary 2010. Massive Layoffs equivalent to the whole population of Iceland. A funny coincidence.

Want to know who is terrorist NUMBER ONE ? O-bomb-a and his bastard banksters. It’s not funny at all when you compare what is happening in the real world and what this dirty and obscene fascist clown is saying. Jobs ! Jobs ! Jobs ! Fine if you a godamn piece of stinking manure from Homeland Security. but a part from that, here is the REAL picture.

    http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com/2010/01/massive-layoffs-coming-in-nyc-nevada.html

Count it. Certainly 320,000 jobs lost directly and another 320,000 indirectly. Stupid american slaves. When will you revolt ? I realy think it’s the mercury, the fluoride and the prozac. I can’t find any other explanation.

  45. Just heard about this book. About the 1929 depression and what happend during it. Sounds like a must read. http://mandelman.ml-implode.com/2010/01/books-ive-loved-reading/

  46. Wow, Max hit it out of the park with this one.

I think the idea behind the downgrade of Iceland’s credit rating if they don’t pay the IceSave moneys is reputational. IE, they didn’t “honor” a debt before so their promise to honor debts is worth less. I don’t agree with it, but in this way it is a sort of threat that if they don’t pay they’ll have a bad credit rating. Big Whup. Have a bad credit rating. I take mine with gravy.

  48. don’t get me wrong. I’m not a rah rah usa guy. but I found these ww2 storys interesting becasue the powers that be set it up to be one way and they went another way. The usa might have been blessed back then that someone was looking out for them.. It seems now all the usa is is a tool for the banksters to spread imperilism and death to the rest of the world. Which saddens me no end. I pray for intervention to save us all.

  49. here’s one more ww2 story not told. During the all important battle of midway. The usa first spotted the japense fleet. So the admiral gave the go ahead to attack. On one of the usa carriers the first plane cracked up on deck so the other planes couldnt’ take off for a while. Anyway. The other carriers. I think there were two others had their planes get off okay. They got to where the japense fleet was but the japense knew they were coming and had their fighters up above waiting for the usa fighters. And shot the usa fighters out of the sky. After that they landed on thier japense carriers to refuel and then attack the usa fleet.

But, now the one squadron that got held up arrived and found the sky clear of japense fighters who were on the japense decks refueling. And the usa figherbombers attacked the entier japense fleed without much trouble. Sinking as we know a couple of japense air craft carriers which won the battlle of midway. And saved the west coast of the usa from invasion.

    Divine intervention. Just luck.

If only the usa was as good as it was back then. I hope for no more wars. No one wins but a very few in wars. And this war maybe no one will win.

  50. snoot , this is usually when miracles do happen when things gt thier worst. Its a hope anyway. There is majic out there.

One story never told. . During ww 2 when the usa just took the philipines the japense lured the usa navy out to chase a dummy fleet they had out a ways. The usa navy thinking glory took off after them leaving our whole usa army without naval cover. And then the real japense fleet came steaming in to the main port on the philipines. All that was left were some usa pt boats. Manned by married drafted navy guys that weren’t allowed to go out on the glory mission. Anyway these few pt boats could way outmaneuer the huge japense battle ships in the harbor and sank most of them.

And to this day that story has not been told. My dad was on one of those pt boats. He knew.

Dunno if this is sensationalistic bull… but several Western European outlets are reporting on Swiss sources’ comments regarding UBS.

Do you have any sources closer to the story?

    http://www.amsterdamnews.net/story/595718

Swiss bank in danger of going under
    Amsterdam News.Net
    Sunday 31st January, 2010

The top Swiss bank, UBS, could collapse according to Switzerland’s justice minister.

Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf has told Le Matin Dimanche newspaper that sensitive talks with the United States are proving to be very problematic, as they deal with high-profile tax fraud.

She warned the actions of UBS in the United States would threaten all of the bank’s activities if its licence were to be revoked in the United States.

While Switzerland and the US had negotiated an agreement, under which UBS would hand over information on some 4,500 account holders to the IRS, a Swiss court ruling earlier this month has put the deal in doubt.

Meanwhile, the president of the Swiss confederation Doris Leuthard has warned foreign governments not to pay for illegally obtained information regarding holders of Swiss savings accounts.

Ms Leuthard made her remarks after the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine said an informant had offered to sell the data of 1,500 account holders to the German tax authorities for 2.5 million euros.

The information would reportedly allow the German authorities to collect over 200 million euros in evaded taxes from UBS account holders.

Secrecy has been a feature of bank dealings in Switzerland for many years, with many citizens now accusing the government of failing to protect UBS.

  90. From Howard Zinn:
To be hopeful in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty, but also of compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness. What we choose to emphasize in this complex history will determine our lives. …. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory

You mean, a communist sympathizer will take him and his girlfriend to a lake-side view and fill their bellies with Machine-gun Lead ?
Only to have his body stomped and pissed on at some gas-station of a local town centre just before getting hung-up like a pig at the butcher’s shop?

  118. @Jim
I know. History is like that. England colonized by Normans that were romanized by France. The Russ at the origign was a also a Norman, a Norse kingdom. The Norman phenomenon ressembles a lot to Attila and the Huns, and Ghengis Kahn invasions. Inferior civilizations invading more civilized southern and pacified civilizations, The same thing happened in China with the Mongols. It’s mostly explained by demographics and wheather.

  119. @namarama

Yes indeed; someone needs to tell the Irish that they are up against the same bastards they’ve been fighting for hundreds of years; don’t be confused by the Brussels address

  120. @ Rastaman,

    I like Max’s glasses.

  121. I forgot Darling. Mussolini Brownshirt and Darling hanged by the feet. What a nice photo op indeed. What happens if Iceland says no ? Nothing.

They can start trading with Russia and China without any problems. Will Gordon Brownshirt send bombers to Iceland or an colonial invasion force ? United Killers has a problem here. The UK is in the same position as Iceland but a 1000 times worst. And guess what ? After the bankruptcy, Icelan would be better off ! than accepting slavery.

  122. Marc…the Rus are Nordic//Norman….so are the Brits….the Normans wiped out All Anglo-Saxon(Germanic)-Celtic 1000 yrs ago…Anglo-Saxon is a complete Misnomer.

  123. frances snoot

    http://itn.co.uk/96ac6b3dbcc5b19bd36be068955afe7d.html

“The Treasury has given Iceland £2.2 billion to guarantee British deposits at collapsed bank Icesave, it has been disclosed.
The money is part of a $10.2 billion (£6.8 billion) package of support for the country’s shattered financial system which was agreed by the International Monetary Fund.
The IMF loan had been held up due to an acrimonious dispute between Iceland and Britain and the Netherlands over how to repay savers with deposits in frozen Icelandic accounts. German savers also had money locked up.
Iceland announced a breakthrough in the conflict on Sunday, saying it would cover insured deposits in accordance with European law.”

  124. frances snoot

“It is owed to the British and the Dutch governments rather than Icesave’s 320,000 customers since they reimbursed savers at the time of the bank’s collapse.”

The whining babies are not the ones who took risk and lost, Max. Change the diapers on the government of the Netherlands and UK: it is they that stand to lose on the President’s refusals.

    http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard-business/article-23791329-icelands-president-blocks-icesave-payback.do

“Alistair Darling, the Chancellor, yesterday warned that a rejection of the deal would “make things a lot more difficult”. Iceland’s hopes for swift economic recovery may be in peril, since international lenders may delay financial aid. The row has held up International Monetary Fund payments, on which Iceland is dependent for economic recovery.”

Iceland is at the mercy of the IMF, not the risk-taking Iceland account-holders.

  125. http://www.prisonplanet.com/authorities-quietly-reverse-underwear-bomber-official-story.html

Norse icelandic language must be cool to study. Love the subtitles. Superb iceland poet much better than Tolkien, Selma Lagerloff. Hope you will convince Icelandets to stay out of Prison Europe and say to the City to go fuck themselves. Hope comes from Iceland. People from Iceland should sign a commercial treaty with Russia. There is a common history with nordic people and Russia.

  126. And if you sort out Iceland, you’d have to have a go at the Irish ecomomy, baby steps on the way to saving the world, and you’d do a much better job of it then Bono, Bob Geldof, and Daniel O’Donnell.

  127. I’d be curious to know how many people listen to that guy’s show, if I were Icelandic and saw this show I’d know which way I’d be voting, ye never know Max this could be your next big thing, or on the other hand some hack over at the Beeb might steal it on ye.

  128. @Sherri Young
Ye I would do a swap, and vote for him from what iv seen so far.
    They have real democracy wow

I’m not sure Iceland would take a Gordon or Cameron as a deposit as there rhetoric is fantasy and therefore worthless along with there standing in my mind our politicians resemble School Prefects lol

I think have total Progda like Propaganda news feeds and the more it goes down this path the worse it will be goodbye reality.
The Grain Harvest is record yield this year = The economy is experiencing record growth lol

We will wake up like some eastern European country out of the fog one day and wonder who and where we are and how we got here lol

  129. Gordon Brownshirt will finish like Mussolini.

  130. United Killers terrorist state NUMBER TWO after United Slaves of America. Breaking News ! The exploding pants terrorist was put on a plane by US government employee that is working for Hitler Homeland Obanana Security. Disgusting. UK/USA are a menace to democracy.

  131. @Fib

Could we please arrange to swap presidents with Iceland. It would be great to have one who listens and leads.

  133. Stacy and Max Think you may have had some influence in the terminology used by Iceland’s President lol

{I hope you watch the CNN link as it will interest you very much.. The Icelandic President Says Britain is a Bully etc etc and repeats a few things Max has been sayting. things are hotting up when he says we have to choose between democracy or finance.

  135. Hi all,

it was funny that skype incident took place at exact moment, distracting for english listeners, when Max said Darling & Brown are fin. terroists. Luckily, Max repeated it enough times. :D .

    Any way, all well spoken.

Iceland must start the Fire of Global Insurrection!

after all, t. (as ‘they’ :) ) are only a flee on The Elephant.

  136. The Dork Of Cork

    @namarama
One of the main reasons the Irish public did not rebel is because a significant proportion of the governing class still had too much to lose as the currency was not trashed like the krona.
Although the working and middle classes have huge mortgages ,there is still a big savings culture in Ireland
and large numbers of people have significant deposits

Freedom is another word for nothing left to lose

  137. Must Watch Icelandic President… What a nice man !!!!

(Brave through the CNN Progda Propaganda Add)

    http://edition.cnn.com/video/#/video/business/2010/01/29/quest.davos.iceland.grimsson.cnn?iref=allsearch

  138. Those Icelanders have a chance to do something spectacular! I hope they don’t fall for all the propaganda that will be thrown their way before the vote.

  139. UN agency calls for ‘driver’s license’ for Web users

    http://rawstory.com/2010/01/agency-calls-global-cyberwarfare-treaty-drivers-license-web-users/

He also called for a “driver’s license” for internet users.

“If you want to drive a car you have to have a license to say that you are capable of driving a car, the car has to pass a test to say it is fit to drive and you have to have insurance.”

  140. @Max

    lose the glasses….keep the bedhead.

possibly invest in a proper microphone and even some sound absorbing polyurethane sheets so you don’t sound like you’re in Hitler’s bunker.

haha…at the very least a “DO NOT DISTURB” sign.

  141. Maybe Iceland will be asked to vote again if they refuse to pass this?

    Doubt it tough.

If you’re Irish and voted yes to Lisbon, either time, You’re a traitor.

  142. wow, a tv commentator who didnt shout or interrupt or ask drawn out questions or add a lot of his own polished, boring, trite commentary. how refreshing. can he do a show in america? gah!

  143. @namarama

Hail the Icelandic’s, its just fantastic what they are doing standing up or their rights.

From Ireland myself and sick to death of the crap going on here. Check this out for an interesting read in the Sunday Business Post

The Icesave scandal might prove a blessing in disguise for the Islandic people. They might be the first people to succesfully detox and boot the creditpushers for good.
Then again once a Junkie, always a junkie. Island might vote counter to their self-intrest.

  145. Total respect for the Icelandic people.

Hopefully the peeps of Ireland will watch and learn.

  146. Hoo Hah!
