Stacy Summary: Lloyd Blankfein ‘expecting $100 million bonus.’ Well, if you check out how all the London-based oligarchs live with extreme security and protection, while it appears to be very easy to steal the wealth of a nation (just have to pay off a politician or two), it seems terribly expensive to protect your ill-gotten gains.

And next year’s bonus for Lloyd that cancerous piece of God’s meat will probably be 200 million. Creepy God. Creepy market action today. Somebody just paid 74 million euros for a scultpture by Giacometti. That’s Lloyd’s bonus.
And AIG gansters pay themselves this week a nive fat 100 million bonus.

Ain’t God a nice for God’s envoy.
@Bonn
Don’t have to brilliant to be a neo-fascist crook like Lloyd Blankfien.
USA is like Indonesia. There is just missing a General Subharto or puppet dictator for life. I remember USA 10 years ago going in third world countries and Russia and extolling the transparence, honesty and ethics of anglo-saxon way of doing business. Freakin banana republic. You see. It’s based on good old rule. “Do what I say but don’t do what I do.” The plantation owners are back. In reality the slave merchants never left. It was just papered over by Hollywood propaganda.
@Dedo:
I thought the article was clever, but he is wrong that there was no greed. He ignores the criminal fraud as well, but at least he acknowledges the problems with securities and a lack of a roll-over market.
Here’s an interesting one:
http://business.theatlantic.com/2010/01/fed_affirms_monetary_actions_in_statement.php
“As for its decision to go ahead with closing its credit facilities: I remain skeptical. The Term Asset-Backed Securities Loan Facility will be closed as of February 1st. That’s in a few days. To my knowledge there have been very, very few successful securitization deals since the financial crisis that did not utilize the TALF. Can the securitization market really function without it at this time? I’m unconvinced, but according to the FOMC:
The Federal Reserve is prepared to modify these plans if necessary to support financial stability and economic growth.
So its plans aren’t written in stone. If credit suddenly starts contracting, then it could bring these facilities back. That action, I think, would be very, very dangerous. It could scare markets a lot. That’s why I wonder if it would have just been wiser to let them continue a little bit longer, just in case. The last thing you want is financial panic when everyone realizes that the credit markets still can’t fully function on their own.”
@Frances,.
“Now President Obama has started to throw his toys out of the pan (very French)”
To throw his toys out of the “pram”,.not pan!
Just thought I’d do a bit of proof reading,..was bored!
@nocalkid
Wasn’t talking about you neither. I was talking about the people that supposedly present themselves as from the “left” like the Labor Party or Obama. They all talk about the middle class, And you see their policies. It’s all about destroying the middle class and concentrating capital and power in the hands of a few gangster oligarchs. Did not say that all lefties are reptiles. I said that the Dem that pretend being different to the Republicans are just a bunch of hypocrits. I don’t any difference between Obama and Bush.
@Marc- I ain’t no “limousine liberal.” I drive a 10 year old car with a cracked windshield, and live on $600+ month. I am one of the old-style fire-breathing lefties, courtesy of my union member grandfather. Damned with being nice, round the bastards up, line ‘em up against a wall and do some target practice, I say!
Quoting Janice: “Freedom’s just another word for nothin’ left to lose.”
http://seekingalpha.com/article/184798-obamas-maginot-line-regulation-will-kill-any-recovery-time-to-fix-mbs
Obama is French?!
“Efforts were made to somehow “re-start” the dead-donkey that was the market for securitized debt. First via TARP (that failed because no one could figure out how to value an MBS without the expediency of taking away the cost of a CDS from an equivalent Treasury), then there was talk of PPIP which sank without a trace. And more recently the Fed has been “buying” that stuff, although no one knows what price the Fed paid or how the assets on their balance sheet are valued, although it would appear that there is a new valuation standard in use these days, called the “Trust Us” Valuation Standards (TUVS).
And well, the “market” hasn’t re-started.
So that’s “Mission Accomplished” in the terminology used by President Bush when he paraded himself in front of the troops after the “conquest” of Iraq, in May 2003.
Now President Obama has started to throw his toys out of the pan (very French), but the credit crunch was not caused by greed, it wasn’t even due to “reckless” risk-taking.”

Your statement tied things up better than mine.
When the cupboard is bare, it’ll take more than… football and nascar.
“Let the games begin,” will take on new meaning.

Destruction of the middle class = DEFLATION and why not DEPRESSION. It ain’t big fat ass parasite Lloyd Blankfien that supports an economy. Stinking limousine liberals. I hate you. I really do. In France they have une superbe expression.”la gauche caviar” (the left caviar). Says it all. Apparently Goldman SSachs is at it boosting the racket today ? Soo funny.

In the history of revolutions, I can not think of one that did not occur without the precondition of starvation. That is to say, revolutions do not occur until the masses are starving. If you can keep them well fed, then you’ve got nothing to worry about. When they aren’t hungry, people are generally lazy (stupid) and will believe pretty much anything you tell them. (See: everything any government anywhere has ever said.)
The key to change isn’t education, as so many people like to expouse. It’s food.
So, hell, I say give this fool a few billion more dollars. Who cares? You can’t stop them. There’s absolutely nothing to be done about it. The corporacy is so entrenched nothing short of a catacylsm will unnest them from their position. So, let the good times roll. Let them steal as much as they possibly can. The more wealth they inflate out of our pockets with their printing presses, the quicker this whole system comes crashing down. The only way we’ll ever see this guy’s head on a pike is if people can’t put bread on the table, sad to say.
In the meantime, I’ll be enjoying my Middle East fireworks display.
Impotent left jibber jabber: Firedoglake makes the claim that the Obama White House helped create the political vacuum that the teapartiers ended up filling by telling the unions to STFU about all of the financial terrorism.

where is the rest of 687 billion + 150 billion excess going?

Advertizers are mainly smarter than their clients. They get in there and sell it.
So as it came to pass, they eventually took over and now they lead. That is: That the things being sold, are things that marketers, have made attractive, through sophisticated strategies, employing a deep understanding of the human psyche.
IE:Edward Bernays, Sigmund’s nephew, did cutting edge work early in the century turning women on to the cigarette. “You came a long way baby.” see the BBC doc “Century… self..”
But there is a ligitamate need for advertising and like other endeavors, sometimes “the tail wags the dog.”
Not that this is a simple mistake mind you.
The laws, such as they are, and such as they have been and will be “interpreted,” need to be competantly administered. The more complicated things become, the less a thing will be comprehended, hence: the population will depend on ” intercessors,” to tell them what it means.
So in summation: “Go tell it on the Mountain.” But beyond that, these promise to be ‘interesting times, enjoy the unfolding of events. The best show on earth.

Article above is about Scotland suing for relief under the laws of Scotland against Tony Blair.
Stacy, it will give you a thrill. I hate the bastard.
For a laugh, go 16 minutes into this video and play to the end. The Cleveland Show managed to take a jab at Blackwater last night while also parodying the end of Frank Capra’s It’s a Wonderful Life.
Good heavens I sure butchered that first sentence! typing too fast.
@ Burgovich:
Marcy Kaptur has done her homework, she’s know eactly how it works. She is asking the questions so that the whole scene is before the American people so that they can see what is happening. It’s rather like a cross examination under oath in a trial. The lawyer continues to ask questions to get answers that he clearly knows the answer to. It is for the RECORD.
CIA moonlights in corporate world:

“Is this the right amount of capital? How do we determine what the right amount of capital is?” asked Hal Scott, director of the Program on International Financial Systems at Harvard University. “Market discipline was sort of lost in the shuffle, and we have to solve too big too fail, but do we want accounting rules to drive regulatory capital?”

“The inner sense of right is a driving factor for the middle class of America.”
CaliDoc:
You must be one of the rich guys that has a chauffeur. I mean: you can’t think Americans drive with an inner sense of right if you have been out there on American roads!!! It’s a jungle!!!
Here’s a little gem from Canada:
http://www.cbc.ca/money/story/2010/02/01/nypost-report-fortress-intrwest.html#socialcomments
@ Stacy -
Adam Smith wrote a book called “wealth of nations”
Lloyd Blankfein must have a private folder called “Stealing the Wealth of Nations”
If you allow the corruption to overwhelm your inner sense of right, you are allowing the corrupt to win. The inner sense of right is a driving factor for the middle class of America.
Now, on your comment about Congresswoman Kaptur, the staff of her office is primarily young. All Congressional offices tend to be staffed by interns and staffers who are young and inexperienced in law enforcement. As the investigation expands, the more experienced attorneys get involved and then you deal with the flak from the White House or DOJ (separate issues).
In its core, these issues are a threat to the Constitution of the United States, rule of law, and the very fabric of the nation.
Some politicians argued in the 2001-2005 Bush 43 first term that there was a threat to the sovereignty of the United States. In fact, some California congressmen were openly stating that they were concerned about the survival of the US government. Some of this was dismissed as political rhetoric, but in hindsight they were very correct.
@ stacyherbert
That really needs to stop. Another level of blending between corporations and the state.
Remind me how replacing someone with triple the wage who will now be taking orders from someone with interests “directly in line” with the US’s national interest is going to save money.
Hey God, how about MY bonus ? You no good God.
In Goldman SS we trust the others eat dog food.
What an ugly facist country. The same week that piece of overpaid brownshirt parasite Lloyd, God’s envoy, receives his 100 millions US bonus for sucking the blood of taxpayers and investors, mayor Bloomberg annouces bloodletting for NYC kitchen soups and homeless shelters. YES WE CAN.
@Gordo – yeah try prosecuting the law when they have these guys answering the phones for them: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0110/32290.html
“Again I ask – Is GS violating any laws – if so prosecute the law.”
Listen its is not possible to procescute the law when the FBI takes direct orders from the GOP and their corporate masters. Now with the supreme court directly in the GOPs back pocket look for it to get even worse.
The DEMs will have to move again to the right to get any corporate support and again the right gets its way.
Oh the role of FM FM yes right FU.
There is no government give me a break.
There needs to be separation of corporations from state.
Not much to say here except that if real socialists were in charge the laws would be enforced. As long as Capitalists run things criminality will rule. Tha has been proven over and over and over again.
Capitalism = societies ultimate death.
Death to Capitalism
Global finance crisis cited as a forcing function for decreasing EU population:

FASCISM. Blankfien would make one fantastic nazi industrialist or banker. FASCISM was called national socialism. In sum socialism à la Hitler. We give you the unemployment, the bombs, the taxes, the suffering, the humiliation, our speculative losses, and we take the bonus. A nazi from Goldman Sachs.
Meanwhile NYC is announcing it will have to cut the funds for the kitchen soups and homeless shelters. Yeah Obanana and his banana republic. Don’t believe me ?
In addition, aid for other services such as soup kitchens, homeless shelters and transit cards for students will be sapped with no way for the city to make up the funding.
“This executive budget would have devastating effects on essential services in New York City,” Bloomberg said.
======================================
That piece of manure Obama has more in common with Robert Mugabé and Papa Doc Duvalier or Idi Amin Dada than with Ganhdi or Luther King.
Saw that Macy kaptr piece. The problem is these congress people are extremely blunt instruments. They dont do their homework. She should spend a few minutes googling to understand how the federal reserve system is organized and not ask for a tutorial during prime time.
They are either just putting up a show of righteous, jowl-quivering, outrage – or are genuinely in over their heads.
Good – I dont like crony capitalism/socialism for the rich any more than my cronies.
I think the laws are stupid. The banking system and the design of modern money is inherently corrupt and dangerous.
They need to be changed.
All I was pointing out is directing the wrath in the right direction and not towards individual private actors .
moats and alligators must cost a lot of money
@stacy
is all this stuff about layers of donations to candidates being legal true?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fokt02nIJ1A
@BB. have you been out of town for a while?
@Bugro – well, you started out attacking ‘socialism,’ not the laws of the land; so if you are against the ‘socialism’ of government support for people, then you ought to be against it for all people, even oligarchs & royalty; another thing, oligarchy is not capitalism; and, finally, what Goldman did is against the law, it is called racketeering and Marcy Kaptur seems to be slowly working toward uncovering this; whether or not the lawbreakers will be brought to justice, however, is highly unlikely unless the Dept of Justice chooses to enforce the law against their present & future employers
http://www.youtube.com/watch#v=V9oRdVyb4iE
If the laws are bad or not being enforced – your wrath should be directed at the lawmakers and enforcers.
Otherwise , you see, we all have to live in dread that the way we make a living – while perfectly legal – may be offensive to someone – many societoies operate this way -
@BB. fraud comes to mind. there are no fucking laws that pertain to these fuckers. above the law.
Again I ask – Is GS violating any laws – if so prosecute the law.
If the laws of the land need to be changed to reflect whatever sorority socialist ranting is currently in vogue – go forth and try. Just – please – no whining – it is so not what america is all about.
@Bugro Bugrovich – it’s just the opposite; it’s a giant FU to those who reject taxpayer plunder and government handouts; Blankfein is able to make $100 million through both direct and indirect taxpayer subsidy through Fed and Treasury bailouts and purchase of Goldman’s toxic assets; and also through the taxpayer largesse of allowing Goldman to borrow money at 0% from the Fed and the loan it back to the same taxpayer at 3% to the govt and 30% to the citizen
I am actually really glad to see this 100 mil bonus ( if in fact it is even true).
I certainly dont want a country where the businessmen are so intimidated by the govt that they cant pay themselves whatever they want .
This is a giant FU to public opinion/creationists/socialists/ and followers of Chavez. Giant FU.
Case in point

How much you make has nothing to do with somebody’s concept of what constitutes “honest labor”.
In fact the vast majority of the products of large companies can be determined to be useless:
I mean would you believe a company selling bottled sugary carbonated water should be one of the largest/richest companies?
Do advertising companies need to exist. They produce nothing and exist primarily to stimulate innocent people to buy things they really dont need.
Movies and music are pure indulgences – do we as a society really want to spend precious resources supporing these types of indulgences.
In a modern capitalist nation with a legal system the way it works is:
You can do whatever you want as long as you are not violating the laws. Including paying out 100 million to the CEO.
If folks dont like the law – they should change the laws.
and to top it all the F@#K Face will pay 1 % Tax;
