I had a conversation at a local hospital’s doctor’s dining room yesterday about the low risk of any side effects from vaccines.
Actually, if you compare the vaccine risk profile to driving a car, I’d say that the car ride is probably more risky than getting an immunization.
The only objections to the use of vaccines seems to come from chiropractors associated with the Church of Scientology.
The continuing ridiculous comments from these same parties about UFO’s and aliens reflects a scientology-like world view.
There has been no evidence presented for either earth being visited by space aliens. (Sorry scientology)
Similarly, there is no evidence that vaccines create autism or has anything to do with it.

There is no evidence to support the idea of any link between autism and vaccines.
We are arguing about vaccines with people who believe that space aliens and their space ships are visiting us. There is no scientific and verifiable evidence of such close encounters nor of their vehicles.
Additionally, the Church of Scientology pushes both anti-vaccine and anti-medication perspectives AND a theology based upon encounters with space aliens.

Doc, I have a close friend , a chiropractor, we spend time together especially ocean fishing. We have discussed many topics. He tells me about his cases, (never mentioning names and I do not ask), of some very dire situations with health, ranging from mad cow to vaccine situations. I respect this persons opinion. He is not a member of the religious sect you make your case about.
So for the evidence, I am not a doctor or a lawyer, I only have a Masters Degree. My opinion is based on his word, which I respect. With all due respect to your friend who is a chiropractor, I have not been impressed with any medical comments from chiropractors. They lack scientific and medical training and are truly misguided in their vaccine position.
Regardless of whether or not the chiro is a scientologist, it is clear that the field of chiropractors is loaded with scientologists which are influencing the statements of the profession.
On the subject of “saving face” with colleagues, that is utterly ridiculous. These people are competitors and therefore the private medical practice would favor divergent positions in order to isolate the marketplace. For this reason some odd physicians choose to make very public statements that are false and differ from the reproducible fact.
When H1N1 vaccine was being dispensed, I often posted my comments that the use of the H1N1 vaccine was very important. We were seeing very ill patients. Since few of you are doctors and even fewer of my colleagues are bold enough to post online, there is very little real medical discussion on these issues.
Readers should take care to evaluate the medical credentials of the person who writes their opinion. When the individual has not been a doctor, is not trained as doctor, and has never used the medications in question; then it is appropriate to question the veracity of their comments.
When one examines the motivation behind the grossly incorrect statements being made by non-medically trained individuals, there are usually and almost always political and monetary motivations for their comments.
In the case of use of vaccines, the fear mongering by UFO cults is disturbingly dangerous.
In fact, it is this doctor’s opinion that the real culling is being done by the individuals who are anti-Vaccine. After all, when you know the disease is on your street and in your child’s school; you are knowingly increasing your risk of contracting the disease by choosing to avoid immunization.
I have not only used these vaccines regularly on my patients, but also myself.

It appears to most of the rank and file physicians and surgeons that the politicians, the bankers and financiers, and their insurance arms are using contract law to enslave the physicians into forced indentured servanthood. These regulations prevent the doctors from seeing patients unless under state edict, discipline doctors for providing their opinions objectively and boldly, split patient interests from the physician by inserting state government agencies and private HMOs into the relationship, and then demand that we physicians follow their orders.
As an example, I have seen situations where doctors trained at US medical schools are in private practice. A US citizen under a state funded medical program comes for an appointment. The doctor diagnoses the problem and then prescribes the necessary medication. The family calls back later to state that a “prior approval” from the insurer is required under the state plan.
Amazingly, the state government program contracted with the insurance company for the care of the citizen. That insurance carrier then punted its contractual responsibility to a “pharmacy benefits management” company which selects medications for the insured people. Notice that it is NOT the doctor who selects this drug, but the insurance carrier and state.
Then, upon direction of the state recommendations, the drug is covered or not. The recommendation of these committees appears guided by $$$$ from the drug company to the members of the committee and the agencies in question.
The irony is that California doctors were forced to call a center out the country to get approval for US citizens to be put on the correct medications.
This process was more insulting and more ridiculous when my colleagues learned that the call center was not staffed by medical trained people.
Therefore, under these government programs the US citizen healthcare decision was being made by a call center in the Phillippines by untrained people operating outside of the laws of California and the United States.

There is a difference between “free” meaning perpetual energy and “free” meaning cost free.
Cost free generation of energy can occur by conversion of renewable energy sources into electrical power.
Perpetual energy is a violation of the Laws of Thermodynamics and can not occur. For this reason, one can efficiently convert only a fraction of the energy harvested. I have never seen a system convert to electrical power more than 20-25% of the collected energy.
The cost of power generation appears related to the initial cost of the conversion system. Internal Combustion Engines are efficient when the size and power output are compared to cost.

My case example:
got surgery. got infected surgical incision (nurse without gloves). got the wrong antibiotic. called doctor who refused to prescribe mrsa relevant antibiotic and refused to do anything about the infection. went to the emergency room with full-blown fever and rapidly progessing infection. got the right antibiotic and a culture done. (my doc refused to give me a culture) the infection was mrsa.
So, as one can see, a ‘medical professional’ may make all the wrong decisions and not wash their hands. But they will maintain their innocence and their pedigree in defiance of logic or actual events that play in real time.
Just ‘trust your doctor’ is not a fair prognosis: one needs to think carefully about medical choice and make rational decisions for oneself.
If I had not gone to the emergency room and ‘just trusted doc’ I would have become gravely ill, if not dead. I was going into sepsis with low blood pressure and rapidly beating heart rate when I arrived at the emergency room.
Common sense should always prevail.

The cows fed by the meat mixed forage cause Mad Cow Disease of which symptoms are similar to Alzheimer’s disease. It’s difficult and costy to diagnose mad Cow Disease so that a lot of patients are simply diagnosed as Alzheimer’s disease without proper examination.

More specific information is not available because the study of the metabolic processes in brain tissue is impossible to complete.
Therefore, post mortem analysis is the only way to directly do the histologic research. Animal studies can be done, but do not directly extrapolate to human beings.
Look up “prions” for more info. Prions are strange proteins which seem to replicate themselves, but few researchers really understand these “contagious” proteins.

Yeah, I have also heard about Prions . If i remember correctly, Prions are contagious so every medical tools used for autopsy to examine should be incinerated. And it’s really difficult to destroy Prions. Prions are destroyed over 600 degree something (Correct me if i am wrong). Mad Cow disease was a result of improper feeding practice for ruminants: the British cows were fed ground up sheep which had scrapies (the prion disease). Prions infect brain tissue. One cannot contract ‘mad cow disease’ from eating beef unless the beef has been fed animal protein or one eats the brain tissue.
“Only certain animals can get BSE — people don’t actually get mad cow disease. However, experts have found a link between BSE and a rare brain condition that affects people called variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD). Researchers believe that people who eat products from cows that have BSE are at risk of developing a form of CJD.
CJD is caused by an abnormal type of protein in the brain called a prion. When people have CJD, cells in the brain die until the brain eventually has a “sponge-like” appearance. During this time, people with the disease gradually lose control of their mental and physical capabilities.
To date, very few people have been diagnosed with the form of CJD that’s been linked to mad cow disease. By November 2006, only 200 cases of this rare condition had been reported worldwide. Prions are not nucleic acids and therefore, the absence of DNA and RNA suggests that the prions are proteins that function or cleave normal proteins.
Since proteins denature under high heat, a temperature of 600 deg F is unlikely to be needed.
On the other hand, the exact biochemistry of prions requires much more research to evaluate. Because the disease process is in the brain and because no existing technology allows the molecular characterization of a functioning human brain, it is unlikely that clear explanation can be obtained without significant animal study.
