I always thought that our drivers are particularly disrespectful of pedestrians. My experience is that they never stop to let you cross the street, even if the light is green. Maybe only New York's drivers can be compared in their despise of pedestrians. As to why people don't shout at you for double parking, my guess is that you never know who is that other guy - people just don't want to get in trouble. Reminds me of how different driving is in Pittsburgh PA vs NYC area. In NYC area all you need is a lead foot, gas pedal and middle finger. Pittsburgh on the other hand... drivers are noticably friendly. They have the "Pittsburgh left" which is when the light turns green the opposing car waves you to make a left turn in front of thier right of way. Very odd, but happens all the time. I feel the wars were going to happen regardless of who was selected to be president or prime minister. The fact that their lies are catching up to them is a good sign.
