Just like social security the pool of money is gone and now is funded by taxes being collected now or borrowed from the future.
If it was insurance, then people would pay different rates based on the actual risk there was a claim. People in highly cyclical jobs would be charged more to insure their income against seasonal job loss or economic downturn. I’ve known school bus drivers who collect “jobless benefits” during the summer months. They know perfectly well they won’t be working for three months, maybe if they want a 3 month vacation every year on taxpayer money they should pay in more the other 9 months of the year to cover this “risk” of unemployment. Many people opt for income replacement benefits on their auto insurance if they are unable to work, some people don’t. A workable voluntary free market solution exists for this problem but government would rather it be a socialist tax fed program. Not every unemployed person needs the checks but if they pay the tax they certainly will want to collect the money. If they had the choice of not paying and not collecting many would opt out. I think somebody once said “if you pay people not to work with money taken from working people, don’t be surprised if more and more people decide not to work.”

  2. @Y’All
sometimes, I do feel sorry for Alex Jones and all his BS, if it aint one thing it’s another… I suppose it does go with the US media territory, he wouldn’t have these problems if his shows were on Resonance. FM, can you imagine ‘AJ’ doing a show for them guys uhm… NO! … ooh let me switch on the radio and check just in case… “and, er coming up next on Resonance 104.4 FM, two hours of some wonderful recordings of ‘birds tweeting’ followed by a programme made to appeal to just 3 people in Crouch End then we have… a repeat of saturdays edition of Truth about Markets”…. huh, I don’t even wanna think about the effect an ‘AJ’ show on Press TV would have on his career!!!

  3. @the underfundedmentalist – agreed; plus the notion of saving for a rainy day is possible if you are one of those earning over the median household income; but the half of the nation earning less than that are going to have a hard time saving anything if you factor in cost of health insurance, car insurance, medical bills and school fees which have been rocketing at double digit numbers annually for the past decade

Here is more info on household income in US:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Household_income_in_the_United_States

  4. the underfundedmentalist

unemployment insurance is deducted from wages, so how is filing an insurance claim on a policy that you have paid for, welfare? it isn’t, this is bait and switch, pure scamonomics, blame the victim rhetoric, the tbtf didn’t want fedreal insurance because it limited their graft, but just like the s&l’s 30 years ago, they needed fire insurance after they burnt down their house, so who is being entitled by whom?

  5. WTF are the benefits of being jobless, call it what it is, consumer welfare, a way to keep the sheep grazing in the stores. Just think if people had to save for a rainy day or month or year, knowing there was no taxpayer money to subsidize year long vacations from responsibility. All that money not being spent. Every unemployed person I ever met was working under the table until the checks ran out then they got real jobs again. I guess that’s one of those jobless “benefits”

I agree, without Huey Long we wouldn’t have listened to FDR, but it all comes down to funding. who funds the think tanks? who funds the terrorists?
malcom x never had that kind of funding, he thought for free.

  9. also Morning Max…uhmm its 3 in the morning on the American Eastern front…guess it is time for me to go beddie by

  10. @ the underfundedmentalist

I’m of two minds as to the role of extremist….I think you are correct they do serve as tool of convenience by established orders to herd people via fear back into their hands….yet also without the extremes out there the establishment may feel no need to concede some power to maintain it’s order

Without Malcolm x…I don’t think we listen to MLK…without Nat Turner and John Brown I doubt if the Quakers and Shakers would have seemed so reasonable

  11. the underfundedmentalist

fundedmentalists like nazis, and commies, think tankers, and zealouts, have always been cultivated to sevre as petards against reform, the status quo’s best friend is an extremist

  12. Hi Max

Have discovered RT & Keiser Report recently, so now want to get up in the morning. Can’t tell you how much it means to hear the other side of the story on TV. Tonight your comment about the Tories tackling inequality if they get into power made me laugh out loud. And great hearing from the ‘other’ Americans who are fighting against the corrupt machine. Of course, these are the people that we never hear about.

    Keep up the good work.

    Best wishes

  14. underfundementlist., you almost hit the nail on the head. Do you think the nazi’s really went away. The corporate elite. no. I’ve grown up with several here in the usa. And known several of them. Some tramsplanted some home grown. They actually keep a low profile. But I could tell you storys of some of them. They actualy have shrines in some of their houses to certain undesirable people we’ve known in the past. Life can be weird sometimes.

    @charles
    thank you!

  18. the Gov Christie video was interesting…am curious as to what exactly he means by..”Let’s hold hands and jump off the cliff.” I assume it means Hey lets cut all the municipal employees that we can….lets curtail social services as much as we can and maybe Hey let’s have a Fire sale on all Government assets to raise penny on the dollar so the people who paid for me can get some bargains

I’m sorry folks if we as a society wish to have a certain level of material prosperity, this will be dependent upon large scale enterprises, which entail Big Banks and Big government….Hamilton recognized this unpleasant fact and America chose his vision over Jefferson’s (even though his liberal/libertarian Arcadia was to be built upon that peculiar institution called slavery I may have preferred it if we could have overcome that limitation)

the States are going south for a multitude of reasons…and excessive pay and benefit packages to state employees are a limited reason…..the shifting of the tax burden away from Capitol (rents and property) and onto the backs of labor (sales and income) is more of a problem…excessive pay and benefits least creates some velocity in the state economies

also was pleased to see John Gault is alive and well and back complaining about being on the government teet….I repeat the reason we pay people not to work is so they do not organize and alter the existing order….we hope the system cranks back up and then we can bring them back in…if not we will find them a nice six feet by six feet cell to house them in so we can reap profits from them while keeping them isolated and dormant

if you want a society where its dog eat dog cool…I have no arguments just don’t seek protection from others when I come for your property

  19. the underfundedmentalist

    @youri
america learned a lot from germany after the war, most significantly in the psy-ops dept. The worst parts of communism and fascism have been mixed together to bring us this global cronyism. The core system is fraud, the only change that i see is in the ideological window dressing, which, like any designer fashion, is on a repeating cycle.

  20. hey, were all just to serve the elitest aren’t we. Goldman sachs and their leaders know whats best for us. Har, har, har.

Gree, In Nazi Germany they had to pledge to Hitler and this system is exactly copied in the States were they try to let the people pledge to Barry (Obama). They copied many things from the ol Nazi Germany regime. U.S. Army helmets also based on the Nazi model.

    Fuck MEDINAS!

She hasn’t got the stomach for it anyways , she wavers under the slightest pressures from that little media Jolly Joker clown. The rat even enjoyed it to see Medinas give in to his sicko shit.

She not only stabbed the truthers in the back but and 80% of the American people who think that 911 needs a new, now for real, independent investigation. So that the victims who die now every day of cancer of the 911 asbestos dust get some money from the Gov. No money is given to the victims of 911 only to these stinking banksters scum. Godamn the makes me puke and Medinas gives into this scum. Like said she doesn’t have the stomach for it.

They are left to die with no money cause everything was OK with the air and Medina think it is all OK. Hate her now.

  36. If you pay people not to work and tax them when they do, don’t be surprised if you get unemployment. – Milton Friedman

I myself am unemployed and enjoying the fruits of my non labor. The government needs to stop stealing from working people and cut all of the leaches like myself off from unemployment. Unemployment insurance is a moral hazard since people dont save for a rainy day in the USA they just buy more crap because they know the government will pay them not to work for years.

I have no right to steal from my neighbor so the government has no right to steal from my neighbor so I can eat or pay my rent. If I starve it is my tough luck.

Not only Palestian leaders but also all leaders around the world are screwing the people.

Nobody thinks that Hamas is angel. In my humble opinion, this time it is the israeli govenment and zionists around the world who are driving the jews into another dangerous corner. It is isreail govt and zionists who are putting jews around the world into one basket, using terms like self-hate jews and antisemite for anyone dare to criticise the Israeli govt policies.
History proves againa, again, it’s really dangerous to put one group of people to one basket. Remember, whether Hamas leaders are bad or good, assassinating people is against the international law. People who are paricipated in the assassination must be punished. As simple as that. By the way people here has been constantly criticising the America, England, Australia that started the war in Irag and Afganistan. It’s not fair to blame people saying that they don’t say much abou the illegal war in the ME. You can’t say that it’s OK to assassinate people because such such nations are swinming in the blood. Illegal war is wrong! Assassination is wrong!

If i were a jew, i would have insisted that there are divesity among jews in term of culture, language, idology and idea due to the diaspora and never ever try to put them to one basket.

Hope you don’t throw Antisemitism bullshit on me.

  43. Giuseppe Bagodonutti@,

my favorite part of that unemployment map and story is the unemployment rate is dropping while more and more millions are becoming unemployed. Amazing how that works.

My guess is the governemnt is factoring in all the ill legal and legal aliens that are getting out of the usa as fast as they can. Or that the corporate people are quitting and leaving the usa.

  44. ronron, I think its more like they tell us one thing and then do another.

But were happy that they thought of us. Even though they did the opposite. God bless the ones that run goldman sachs. Without them we might actually have a country for the people instead of a country for goldman sachs. Sure alot of goldman sachs folks running things. Gee i wonder if that has anything to do with where were at now.

  46. @ Happy Dick

I know, Giuseppe Bagodonutti (I am curious what it means) knows everyone here knows that the real unemployment rate is much higher. The map is simply drawn from the official rate.

  47. @ Giuseppe Bogodonutti

Thanks for the link : The Map of Unemployment in the USA.

  48. The pen is mightier than the sword?—BS every tyrant may have an ideology but without the force to implement it it remains just that an idea

  49. Youri Carma

    @frances snoot

Yep, the pen is mightier than the sword. A cliché but clichées are true. That’s why the Rockefellow bill tries to shut sown the Internet as we know it.

Guns are not necessary there are other ways. Never underestimate the ol Molotov cocktail. Or a water gun with bleach. But I am getting carried away now.

Talking bout the Pen, made some little stickers with the text “The true cause of 911 has never been revealed to you”. To make people curious and mark 911 in their little grey cells. Can stick them everywhere, hand palm size.

Gotto be cunning to win this infowar.

  50. @Happy Dick…

Note that the MAP does NOT INCLUDE the U6 stat !!!

    Otherwise there’d be a LOT more greyish/black spots…
And maybe some new colours to reflect the 15%+ unemployment rate…

I’d like to see one for Canada, as well… hmmmm

  56. “if the American people ever allow private banksters to control and issue their currency, the people and their children will one day wake up homeless on the continent their forefathers conquered” – Thomas Jefferson”….the power to issue and control the currency/money, must be given back to the people to which it rightly belongs” – Thomas Jefferson….”private central banksters controlling the peoples money are more dangerous than standing armies” – Thomas Jefferson….its time to END THE FED and big government for good people..Ron Paul’s bill HR 1207 to audit the fed, will do nothing,as the federal reserve lawyers will cook the books and make everything look just dandy..a waste of time..in fact, I would bet the fed lawyers are fudging the books right now ..the fed must be ABOLISHED,and it can be done w/o nary a bill to get rid of it..with this new state banking money system, the fed will die on its own accord..state run banks with “honest” money ARE the solution..a new interest free paper currency issued in each of the 50 states possibly backed by silver,[NO GOLD]..we had our money backed by gold in 1929 and the 1930’s..did it stop the great depression? NO!..although gold would still retain a value 16 times greater than silver per the constitution, with each state making their own $1,$5,$10,$20,$50,and $100 paper notes backed by silver[ex: $20 Texas silver note..under that "payable to the bearer on demand $20 in silver [when presented at any state bank, you would receive either $20 worth of 90% silver coin, 20-.999 silver dollars,4 - 5 oz. .999 silver bars,or 2 -10 oz, .999 silver bars],and all 50 state paper notes would be accepted in every state and abroad..having 50 different notes for the 50 sovereign states would make it extremely difficult for the banksters to take back control of the U.S. money system again.. a dollar would be 31.1 grams of silver[ONE OUNCE] as per the constitution..change for the new paper notes would be pre-1965 90% silver again[only 90% silver with 10% copper is hard enough to take the day to day pounding/ movement/exchanging and hold up],and 100% copper again for pennies..a state run honest money/banking system with interest free loans run by the people.. for the people.. there would be only a small administrative fee/ cost, to borrow money to pay state bank employees and mgrs. etc.
EX: you[or a small business starting up lets say ]were to borrow $205,000 for a $200,000 house/loan,you would pay back $205,000 over the next 5,10,or 15 years[ditto credit cards],instead of the present parasitic fractional reserve banking system where you would buy a $200,000 house[or a $200,000 loan] and you would pay the private parasitic fractional reserve banksters nearly $1,000,000 over 30 or 40 or even 50 years for money made from NOTHING!!..thin air..infinite free money..THIS IS ABSOLUTE,UNADULTERATED INSANITY..
paying the banksters for money made from nothing..it just blows you away when you think about it..its hard to wrap your mind around.. just like 9-11
the private non-federal reserve is simply the greatest scam, fraud, and deception in the history of the world..bar none
IS IT ANY WONDER MANY OF US ARE DEAD BROKE AND BURIED SO DEEP IN COMPOUNDING DEBT WE WILL NEVER GET OUT IN A LIFETIME??
    and living paycheck to paycheck?
this isn’t living..this is [debt] slavery and many don’t even realize they are lifetime debt slaves of the banksters!
it just doesn’t have to be this way!
state controlled banks with “honest” money, will bring back manufacturing and real jobs!
a nation that is prosperous MUST produce goods folks!
3rd world countries don’t produce goods!
the U.S.A.. IS in fact a 3rd world country now!
a petition page will soon be up at WEB OF DEBT.COM
where you can sign it and DEMAND your state
implement state run banks! [unless you live in N.Dakota that already has state banks]
..BANKS AND “OUR” MONEY CONTROLLED BY WE THE PEOPLE..
talk about PROSPARITY RETURNING TO AMERICA..
imagine paying $500-$1,000 for a new car again..
of course a new state bank silver dollar will have the purchasing power of a 1913 dollar..but we can start all over again as a nation,
and bring ALL the troops home from abroad and have them protect OUR BORDERS! with 50 new sovereign state banks this country can be turned around in days
not months or years, but DAYS!

  68. I forgot to add. The only reason the rest of congress wants to hand out unemployement forever is so the masses don’/t get mad and rise up to kick the congress in the nuts. If enough people could be without welfare and unemployemnt that might be enough people to get mad and take over washington.

ON a side note. I think its like 52% of the jobs in the usa is working for the governemnet. And there is probably close to 40% or more on welfare or unemployement or jail in the usa. Whats that say about the usa. geez.

  69. frances snoot

    @Youri:
I would have made an excellent teacher. But I refuse to throw away my integrity. Can you imagine the decision being made to choose between the two? How so?

Because you cannot teach anymore. You administer; tests, programs, propoganda. The worst are the videos of O-BA-MA forced upon the class and the recruiters forced access. Yes. I was told by a Haitian student that I was the only teacher who cared about her, and that she was finally learning. I was told by my direct supervisor that I should “just be a bitch” and that the teenagers “didn’t appreciate what I was doing”.

I know a lot about the subject because it is right next to my heart.

University level they fired tenured professors: the president of the college got promoted for that call.

It is not about ‘going in arms about money’. The destruction is to our community.

Max was right. We let the bankers have control over us by going into debt. Now they will ‘have-their-way-with-us’ and there is no stopping them.

But we don’t have to give up our dignity. We will, many of us, stand firm for that cause.

  70. There are two or three sides to this bunning story.

One thing. why doesn’t everyone in the usa get unemployment forever. Just print up the money. Which is all the govenrment or fed is doing now anyway. Except that the money mainly goes to the banksters.

And why do the banksters get trillions for bailouts for them and 0% or almost 0% interest on loans they’re getting now. Why can’t us average folks get that.

  71. “ high time to end Rothschild central banking/banks around the world and in the U.S

    Ellen Brown’s “CAMPAIGN FOR STATE BANKS”{ WEBOFDEBT.COM }

time to END THE FED and big government..Ron Paul bill HR 1207 to audit the fed will do nothing,as the federal reserve lawyers will cook the books and make everything look just dandy..a waste of time..in fact, I would bet the fed lawyers are fudging the books right now ..the fed must be ABOLISHED,and it can be done w/o nary a bill to get rid of it..with this new state banking money system, the fed will die on its own accord..state run banks with “honest” money ARE the solution..a new interest free paper currency issued in each of the 50 states possibly backed by silver,[NO GOLD]..we had our money backed by gold in 1929 and the 1930’s..did it stop the great depression? NO!..although gold would still retain a value 16 times greater than silver per the constitution, with each state making their own $1,$5,$10,$20,$50,and $100 paper notes backed by silver[ex: $20 Texas silver note..under that "payable to the bearer on demand $20 in silver [when presented at any state bank, you would receive either $20 worth of 90% silver coin, 20-.999 silver dollars,4 - 5 oz. .999 silver bars,or 2 -10 oz, .999 silver bars],and all 50 state paper notes would be accepted in every state and abroad..having 50 different notes for the 50 sovereign states would make it extremely difficult for the banksters to take back control of the U.S. money system again.. a dollar would be 31.1 grams of silver[ONE OUNCE] as per the constitution..change for the new paper notes would be pre-1965 90% silver again[only 90% silver with 10% copper is hard enough to take the day to day pounding/ movement/exchanging and hold up],and 100% copper again for pennies..a state run honest money/banking system with interest free loans run by the people.. for the people.. there would be only a small administrative fee/ cost, to borrow money to pay state bank employees and mgrs. etc.
EX: you[or a small business starting up lets say ]were to borrow $205,000 for a $200,000 house/loan,you would pay back $205,000 over the next 5,10,or 15 years[ditto credit cards],instead of the present parasitic fractional reserve banking system where you would buy a $200,000 house[or a $200,000 loan] and you would pay the private parasitic fractional reserve banksters nearly $1,000,000 from compounding interest over 30 or 40 or even 50 years for money made from NOTHING!! THIN FRICKIN AIR!..THIS IS INSANITY!
IS IT ANY WONDER MANY OF US ARE DEAD BROKE AND BURIED SO DEEP IN COMPOUNDING CREDIT CARD DEBT WE CAN’T EVER GET OUT?
[and living paycheck to paycheck to paycheck taking SSRI's and benzo's to sleep?]
IS IT ANY WONDER THE BANKSTERS ARE MULTI-TRILLIONAIRES?
it just doesn’t have to be this way people!
state controlled banks with “honest” money, will bring back manufacturing and real jobs!
a nation that is prosperous MUST produce goods folks!

Gree, this is only the beginning of the chaos.

It seems the really want to provoke a confrontation with the citizens. Blocking jobless benefits also creates a large angry group of people also Docs.

But people still not get it. It’s a good thing that people go protesting but they all go in separate small groups over separate issues.

They have to stand as one big giant all the people millions of them. But people are cowards generally and if it doesn’t affect them directly they stay in their cocoon.

But we have to be patient, every protest will wake up more people but the MSM is traitorous and don’t even report it or down play it by filming only a few people and than saying that these are all protesters. That already has happened.

It’s awful. The legislation allows this to go on until the teachers are cowed into accepting whatever terms needed to keep their jobs. The whole year is going towards getting ready for the testing now (in Florida). And the school closings will escalate.

ALL BECAUSE OF A TEST. THAT IS THE STANDARD.

A stupid flipping test. One day. Not any other standard. And the annual yearly progress is almost impossible to meet without testing corporate-white children. (the test is culturally relevent)

Crist signed the law here is Florida at two separate charter schools to get more publicity.

The woman from that blog is very brave. We will see some real pressure: there is real money involved. I talked to an elementary teacher here last year (pressure is still building)…she said she cried every single day. She said it was impossible. They have people from the county board coming into the classrooms and taking pictures and telling the teachers what to say and looking at the books. We’ve had really dedicated teachers quitting.

This is only the beginning. Wait till peer-review on teachers gets going.

Like the peer-review going on at the banks. Race-to-the-Top.

If one believes they can influence, then they may be able to do so, and have an affect on the future direction of life. One could have a set of beliefs that sitting around and doing nothing is a good thing. If one looks to an external reality, personal achievement may in fact be questionable.

  129. @ LA

mainly was slightly perturbed about this one statement

“300 years of individualism rooted into its constitution”

America ( a country my family has resided in for 10-12 generations) garnered its vast wealth and industry via government intervention into the private sector….(as all great Empires have) we became a Wealthy nation by two means… Westward expansion and Cheap Cotton….both of these things were heavily dependent upon a strong active government interfering into Adam Smiths nice little Free Market.

We spend vast sums of our national Treasury and Blood guaranteeing access to markets and resources for a select few industrialist…we have always did this…America did not become the Empire that strides the globe by a bunch of independent merchants trading amongst themselves.

the reason we have Social Spending in this country is not Christian charity it is because the nature of the economic system implored creates vast discrepancies in Wealth distribution which increases social instability…Welfare/Social Spending is a means to buy passivity…so the system can continue to do as it wishes.

Unemployment insurance is the perfect example…the system generates Bust Boom cycles…so during the Bust the handlers decided that it would be best to pay off some of the laid off workers or otherwise they may become agitated and mount a significant challenge to the present system…others believe one can just expand the prison system to capture the excessive labor pools during the bust cycles…this is sorta where Bunning would be

the arguments I always hear coming from the sectors that wish to drastically alter the shape and scope of the Government is always the same…and it centers around a false mythous of America’s past, one completely devoid of basic history

please do not regal me with the benefits of minimalist states…until the Nozick’s and Rand’s supporters of the world can explain to me why I must tolerate a redistribution system that forces me to pay for their individual property rights and they shouldn’t pay for a redistribution system to pay for my children ‘s rights to food…I could care less what they think….if y’all want an Hobbesean system…its find by me as a good ole boy from the south

“”We have a big player which is the European Union and there is no reason why it shouldn’t have its own way of financing and to issue bonds is a good idea,” IMF Managing-Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn told a news conference in Rome.

“I really support this initiative,” he said. “It really depends on the European Commission and the EU authorities but I see no reason why the EU cannot do this.”

Strauss-Kahn said he saw “a lot of downside risk” to the IMF’s forecast for a 2 percent fall in gross domestic product in 2009 for the euro zone, with near-term crisis risks linked to emerging markets’ ability to finance their current accounts.

“Great vigilance” was needed in the coming weeks, he added.”

  136. frances snoot

Bunning is taking the heat for Congress in their compliance with the IMF’s FSAP for the US of A. Bernanke needs to get the deficit to 3% of GDP just like Eurozone. I’m not sure where the regs are for the US of A: Eurozone is in the Stability and Growth Pact. It’s an insane ruling sure to put the world in the dark ages. So don’t blame “bye baby bunning”.

  138. Frank Rich, Ron Paul and the Battle for the Soul of America

In his Sunday New York Times column, Frank Rich tries to belittle and defames Congressman Ron Paul, because Dr. Paul wants to shrink the size and scope of the federal government. By lumping the former 2008 GOP presidential candidate with the pro-war 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, Sarah Palin, and militaristic talking head Glenn Beck, who delivered a sharp rebuke of the GOP in his CPAC speech more than a week ago, Rich reveals his true colors: an unapologetic supporter of the welfare-warfare state.

Ron Paul should not be linked to either of these big government conservatives, nor to extremists like Joe Stack, who recently flew a plane into an office building housing the I.R.S. in Austin, Texas, or Timothy McVeigh who bombed a government office building in Oklahoma City in 1995. Frank Rich tries to paint Ron Paul and his supporters as violent, “obsessed and deranged,” and therefore a lunatic fringe that should be ignored as critics of the federal government’s policies, which Rich apparently supports: mass killing overseas, and legal plunder and currency debasement at home. Instead, Frank Rich implies that any criticism of the welfare-warfare state is due to a psychological disorder and therefore “these’ people are really “enemies of the state” and should be monitored very carefully.

  139. Right . . . public funds are limitless when it comes to bailing out those free-marketeers that are “too big to fail,” and for waging permanent war on the rest of the world in order to protect our “national security,” but golly-gosh-darn-it, these disgusting unemployed peasants will surely break the bank if we listen to their petty whining! Your observations are correct, however its difficult to understand cutting what amounts to peanuts in terms of cash to those that this casino economy has impoverished while at the same time splurging trillions on the military for dubious adventures, trillions on bank bailouts and numerous other pork barrel projects for so many of the same senatorial class. A society which unravels will unravel for all in that society

  152. There are a lot of independent contractors, consultants and small-business owners that do not have access to government handouts. Is this mentioned in the press? Is there a discussion of these individuals and the impact of not having access to governmental funds? Is there enough consideration of these constituents and their representation in the employment data?

    (1) When will the country stop being like a child, dependent and needy? I realize those that want more government intervention are the same ones who either hypocritically elite and say one thing and do something else or are desirous of someone else solving their problems.

    (2) His actions call attention to a governmental problem. I am always astounded that on the one hand maxkeiser.com offers deep analysis and very thoughtful conclusions and then I suspect on the other hand is this perverse desire for a socialistic tenet in a country that has 300 years of individualism rooted into its constitution.

    (3) Bunning’s actions point to the fact (although this is probably not his intent) that people who keep voting for Big Government (whether it is for more military or more social programs) ARE BAD AT MATH. After social security, medicare, medicaid and the Bush prescription-drug bill, we desire another massive entitlement. The aforementioned 4 social programs have destined the USA for insolvency. Only idiots would argue that we need to grow another entitlement program, not cognizant of history. The government is not a good steward! Duh!

    (4) Bunning is correct – find a way to pay for something. FUCK!

    (5) Max had it greatly correct in a recent interview that you cannot have capitalism on the way up and socialism on the way down. I would like to add – that you cannot have 300 years of capitalism and high expectations of individual liberty and individual responsibility and then subsequently usurp that pattern and attempt to overlay a new paradigm such as socialism and not expect disruption, dislocation, and devolution.

    (6) This “channel” does 1/2 very very well. But ignores the other 1/2 that makes the problem whole. Big Government + Big Business (including banks) and the socializing of economic effects IS the problem. I love how Naomi Wolf is all over “The End of America” regarding Bush but has since become more reticent and hardly heard from since Obama. This is the same “liberal” bias that does not “get” the other half of the equation. Big Government effectively controls all power. Don’t like someone’s agenda, take it up with your representative. Small government disperses power to the people, to the individual.

THIS SO FUCKING STUPID, I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY SO FEW GET IT!

  153. My thoughts on Sen. Bunning is that he has never known what it is like to not know whether you got any money left to pay for food in the last week of the month or not knowing if he can still live under the same roof next month or having to worry about his teeth falling out because dentist treatment cost too much. If he did, he wouldn’t have done it.

    unemployment benefits? unemployment necessities… newspeak.

  154. The good Sentor should listen to this old Roman senatorial advice : Accipere quam facere praestat injuriam

  155. Bunning supports the jobless benefits, he just wants to pay for them. The rest of the senate refuses to NOT rack up more debt to the central bankers, who criminally, fradulently, privately, and secretly control virtually every national currency in the world.

Obama spokesman calls Bunning irrational! Irrational is wanting to pay for stuff and not rack up more debt, backed by the power of taxation, to the monopoly banking cartel.

This is how senators pad their resume for their next job at goldman sachs. The quid for the quo. The good senator is a scapegoat, the lone gunman holding up congress. He is bait. Just another weapon of mass distraction. Did he vote for the war budget? Did he vote for the bailout? It doesn’t matter in this dance, he is taking the heat for the democratic senators’ collective inaction. And his sacrafice will be repaid handsomely. This is not democracy. The kitty went to play in traffic.

  192. @ Stacy – It’s disgusting on many levels. His argument is apparently that the bill should be paid for before it is implemented. Only when legislation will benefit the public does the issue of paying for the legislation beforehand come up. Bunning never said anything about paying for the wars, Bush tax cuts, Medicare Part D plan, bank bailouts, etc. first, did he? Naw. But because of him, thousands of workers are furloughed, infrastructure projects have come to a screeching halt, and people are getting hurt by having their benefits shut off. He’s pissed off at the media attention he’s getting for his disgusting, hateful behavior, too . . . thinks that he doesn’t deserve attention or negative coverage for telling the American people to go fuck themselves. Nice conservative family values: “you and the families that rely on you — Go fuck yourselves, starve, and die. ”

Besides him, the GOP’s #2–Senator Kyl–is out making the fucking idiotic claim that unemployment benefits make people not want to get a job.

I wish we could take away their health care benefits and their pay until they sit down and actually make an effort to work FOR the American people. They’re nothing but a bunch of fucking traitors. They love to bitch about unions and those who work in the public sector being paid too much and receiving better benefits than they deserve, but they always leave themselves out . . . they who do NOTHING but sell the fucking country out to corporations and criminals, decimate the standard of living for the majority of Americans, and then blame everyone else for their own fuckups when the shit hits the fan . . . all the while collecting their paychecks, using their positions of power to enrich themselves, and doing nothing to actually serve the public good.

  193. @snoot – I like the owl against blue background better than the kitty cat . . .

  194. @Stacy & @CaliDoc

    How about this as well?
    http://news.goldseek.com/GoldSeek/1267457563.php

The private sector or even the Federal Reserve isn’t the root cause of hyperinflation. Hyperinflation occurs when a country’s bond market breaks. In other words, the sovereign nation is no longer able to fund itself. Its bonds fall (yields rise) to the point where the government has to print money or default. Rising interest rates cause the interest payments to consume too much of the overall budget. The government or central bank then begins to print money to fund its deficit. Then the citizens start to consume, knowing the currency is rapidly losing value. Demand has nothing to do with the cause or the onset of hyperinflation.

Reuters and Der Spiegal completely at odds:

“But there is little appetite to create a real EU or euro zone economic government, an idea floated by French President Nicolas Sarkozy, as many countries fear that would cede too much power to Brussels or to big, rich member states.”

    http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSLDE62111Q20100302?type=marketsNews

“With Greece dragging the euro down, however, the concept of an economic government for the euro zone is gaining momentum.”

  198. the underfundedmentalist

This is all theatre. Obama is the unitary execuetive now. He can legally abolish congress, deem anyone an enemy combatant and have them disappered. But I don’t believe for a minute that the real ptb would grant their servants such power, be it bush, cheney, obama, or biden. These are all puppets with different personalities for different acts in this grand play. I believe we are under the continuity of government program, and have been ever since the national security act of ’47 was implemented, in secret of course, in those days tyranny died in the light of day. Now it seems to thrive.

Can someone look at this page from the Federal Reserve?
    http://www.federalreserve.gov/generalinfo/foia/2009newcurrency.htm

Look at the data tables at the very bottom of the page.

In the end of the webpage, they show a graph of cost of printing money.

In 1990 it cost $26 to print 1000 notes.
In 2008 it cost $64 to print 1000 notes.
In 2009 it cost $86 to print 1000 notes.
What is going on with this graph?

NOTICE GRAPH 2 and TABLE 2
2007 and 2008 had about 178 and 160 billion dollars printed.
2009 had 256 billion dollars printed. That’s a huge increase in printing in 2009.

    So, where’s the inflation?

Is somebody stealing the money right back out of the US economy?

It has to stop somewhere. The Senator is not running again so he has nothing to lose. It’s a sensitive one, who to hit first, this is the bottom rung on the ladder, defence (really offence ) won’t be cut to pay the unemployed.

Not on topic but CNN just did a story on surgeries, there are no set fees for operations in the U.S., an operation that costs $4,000 at one hospital costs $10,000 down the street. One thing with so called “socialized” medicine there are set rates.

Senator Bunning may have lost the big finance donor block in the Republican Party.

The “deep pocket” bribers in Washington DC decided to throw the guy under a bus after he started to act more populist. As the donor base dried up, he started to become more and more RonPaul-like. Then, the big bank bribers decided to cut off campaign contributions to the guy.
