    In general, Michiganders are some of the nicest people you could meet. They are part of the American mid-west ‘heartland’ which – even today – still clings, perhaps naively, to values which made the USA a great nation. (Marcy Kaptur is from Ohio.)

    I live 95 miles from Detroit, safely in Canada. Despite the current sport of USA-bashing, I retain the utmost respect for the American people, and their unrivaled patriotism.

    @Carmen – you are very perceptive; I was actually sort of undercover; I was in the studio and ‘Prince’ Pahlavi was in the studio for some sort of interview; I wanted to take a photo of the 8 or 9 security guards with him and just as I was about to take it they looked over at me, so I swung my computer back quickly to myself . . . and re: the Chinese reception, I created the site because I had to in order to contact someone on the sina.com who is a writer I am trying to get an interview with . . . will keep you posted on whether he responds

    Hey Max,

    I’ve been checking out your videos on Goldman Sachs and the “economic crisis”. Great stuff !! A real eye opener. I’ve also been listening to your program on Resonance FM (which my brother got me into!).

    However i have a question which i would love to pick your brains on…:-

    Due to banks paying rubbish interest rates at the moment, yet with gold and silver looking very profitable, my brother and i have been looking into investing a lump sum of money left over from our grandparents into gold and silver. We have done a lot of research into this and are convinced enough of the security of the investment. Also, (correct me if im wrong…) we are aware that you have 90% of your money in gold.

    However… after doing some research, i have read in a few places that the gold mining trade being called “possibly the dirtiest trade on the planted” ethically speaking, ie child labor is used, terrible working conditions, dreadful pay for miners, and vast amounts of toxic chemicals used in the process such as Cyanide, Arsenic and sulphuric acid…

    I was wondering if you know of or have invested in gold which is ethically sourced ?? There are a few different places which claim to do this, but seeing as there is a market for “ethical gold” there is bound to be people out there trying to scam you into thinking their gold has been ethically sourced when really its still just as awful… Also apparently “fair trade” gold was started up in 2009…. i dont know if you know anything about this.

    I just wanted to pick your brains about this and see if you were aware of this side of things.

    Any info would be really appreciated, as i would love to invest in gold/silver and am completely convinced by the economics of the investment, but still don’t want my investment to be funding a massively corrupt business.

    MK: it’s true. gold mining is dirty as hell. and yes, there are ethical ways to invest in gold. but the main point is this; as dirty as gold is, the US Dollar is much worse. If everyone bought gold and put the fractional reserve, fiat money bankers out of business – millions of lives would be saved/improved.

    This is a pragmatic approach – and not ideal – but it’s something that can be accomplished by the global community looking to end fiat rule by the very few of the bottom 99%.
