ACORN gives up Ohio business license, won’t return
COLUMBUS, Ohio — The community organizing group ACORN has agreed to give up its Ohio business license and not return under another name, as it has in other states, under a settlement struck with a libertarian center that sued it.
U.S. District Judge Herman Weber, in Cincinnati, signed off on the deal, which settles claims brought by the 1851 Center for Constitutional Law against ACORN’s voter registration practices. Other terms of the deal are confidential.

re: Palin saw a doctor in Canada when she was five…
The Yukon didn’t even have publicly funded medicare back then so what’s this story supposed to even mean? There was no doctor in Skagway and the closest one would have been 180 km away in Whitehorse. Do you even know where Whitehorse is? Maybe do yourself a favor and brush up on Canada.
Yeah, Man!! They can’t be discriminating against which group of criminals they hand out money!! Right on!
On a more positive note, ACORN got booted out of Ohio today. They settled an election fraud lawsuit by agreeing to never again operate within the state. So I guess they won’t be able to bus in all those homeless folks from out of state for the next election.
Utah has become the third state to adopt a law exempting guns and ammunition made, sold and used in the state from massive federal regulations under the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and supporters say about 30 more states have some sort of plan for their own exemptions in the works. http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=127490

BUSINESS SUMMARY
Assured Guaranty Ltd., through its subsidiaries, provides credit enhancement products to the public finance, structured finance, and mortgage markets in the United States and internationally. Its credit enhancement products include financial guaranties or other types of financial credit support, including credit derivatives that improve the credit of underlying debt obligations. The company operates in three segments: Financial Guaranty Direct, Financial Guaranty Reinsurance, and Mortgage Guaranty. The Financial Guaranty Direct segment provides an unconditional and irrevocable guaranty that indemnifies the holder of a financial obligation against non-payment of principal and interest when due. The Financial Guaranty Reinsurance segment indemnifies a primary insurance company against part or all of the loss that the latter may sustain under a financial guaranty policy issued. The Mortgage Guaranty segment offers protection to mortgage lending institutions against the default by borrowers on mortgage loans that, at the time of the advance, had a loan to value ratio in excess of a specified ratio. The company markets its products directly to and through financial institutions. Assured Guaranty Ltd. was founded in 2003 and is based in Hamilton, Bermuda.

so, apparently the swapping of debts fraudulently was happening at bizarre intervals. Who were the counter-parties? Did Lehman provide the other side of the trade for the other TBTF banks when the time came to audit them annually or monthly? Clearly no one would take the risk of repoing without a sort of mutually beneficial transaction being guaranteed in the future, right?

HSBC (HSBA.L), Europe’s biggest bank, said a theft of data by a former employee affected up to 24,000 Swiss client accounts, dealing a hefty blow to the reputation of its private bank.
Switzerland’s financial regulator FINMA was investigating the theft, it said on Thursday, while a source close to the UK’s Financial Services Authority, the bank’s lead regulator, said the FSA was “aware” of the situation.
The bank had previously said “less than 10 clients” were affected after Herve Falciani — a former HSBC computer specialist — stole client data from the bank which he handed over to French tax authorities.
“The theft, which was perpetrated by a former IT employee about three years ago, involves approximately 15,000 existing clients who had accounts with the bank in Switzerland before October 2006,” HSBC said in a statement.
On top of that, up to 9,000 accounts that had been closed in the past were affected. These accounts often were not big enough to be eligible for private banking services, the bank said. It has 100,000 clients in Switzerland.
You called me a “twit”, no need to get personal besides I’ve been called worse by better people. You seem to be emotionally committed to the defense of ACORN.
Your attitude is part of the problem, people on the right and on the left defend their team and think that it is the other guys that are corrupt. Every time corruption is pointed out on the left you jump in and claim its the right that is corrupt. it is necessary for individuals to point out corruption regardless of affiliations.
I agree with you, the GOP is just as compromised and the Bush administration was as corrupt as they come, the Iraq war was a scam. However, with the GOP it is obvious to see, the left is more sophisticated in its propaganda, they have had control of the education system, hollywood and media. Do not take my criticism of any left organization as a defense of the right, they are just as evil but they do not have the power right now.

Obama Justice Department Shut Down Federal ACORN Investigation According to Documents Obtained by Judicial Watch
Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has obtained documents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) detailing federal investigations into the alleged corrupt activities of Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). The documents reference serious allegations of corruption and voter registration fraud by ACORN as well as the Obama administration’s decision to shut down a criminal investigation without filing criminal charges.
The documents include background information on two specific complaints filed in October 2008 by Lucy Corelli and Joseph Borges, Republican Registrars of Voters in Stamford and Bridgeport, Connecticut, respectively, during the 2008 election season.
According to Corelli, on August 1, 2008, her office received 1,200 ACORN voter registration cards from the Secretary of State’s office. Over 300 of these cards were rejected because of “duplicates, underage, illegible and invalid addresses,” which “put a tremendous strain on our office staff and caused endless work hours at taxpayers’ expense.” Corelli claimed the total cost of the extra work caused by ACORN corruption was $20,000. Likewise, Borges contended that: “The organization ACORN during the summer of 2008 conducted a registration drive which has produced over 100 rejections due to incomplete forms and individuals who are not citizens…” Among the examples cited by Borges was a seven-year old child who was registered to vote by ACORN through the use of a forged signature and a fake birth certificate claiming she was 27-years old.
The FBI and Department of Justice opened an investigation. However, the Obama Justice Department, while noting that ACORN had engaged in “questionable hiring and training practices,” closed down the investigation in March 2009, claiming ACORN broke no laws.
The only “job” Obama had in his life, outside of politics, was working for…Acorn.

Why Acorn has not totally opted out of US Biz licences process I have no idea.
These operating agreements are more trouble than they are worth.
Frankly, no US state should be getting any money from any Acorn like entity as part of a state level anti-corruption drive.
An NZ or AU biz licence is good enough as far as I am concerned.
You cannot bar a foreign entity from doing aid and development work in the US, as the US is mathematically speaking a 5th world nation.
