  1. I have been shut out lately might as well be first.

  2. …that guy in the orange shirt is so smug looking…
…even more smug looking when there are sub-titles.

    Whoohoo….second!

  3. @ y’all – Wow, Bill Clinton has publicly apologized to Haiti for destroying their rice production and causing people to starve:

Decades of inexpensive imports – especially rice from the U.S. – punctuated with abundant aid in various crises have destroyed local agriculture and left impoverished countries such as Haiti unable to feed themselves.

While those policies have been criticized for years in aid worker circles, world leaders focused on fixing Haiti are admitting for the first time that loosening trade barriers has only exacerbated hunger in Haiti and elsewhere.

They’re led by former U.S. President Bill Clinton – now U.N. special envoy to Haiti – who publicly apologized this month for championing policies that destroyed Haiti’s rice production. Clinton in the mid-1990s encouraged the impoverished country to dramatically cut tariffs on imported U.S. rice.

“It may have been good for some of my farmers in Arkansas, but it has not worked. It was a mistake,” Clinton told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on March 10. “I had to live everyday with the consequences of the loss of capacity to produce a rice crop in Haiti to feed those people because of what I did; nobody else.”

  4. Oh a Scottish/American/Greek!?
    Ha!

Years of governments around the world being obsessed by Economic GROWTH is the problem.
Pressure on the system to have 5% plus per year of Economic Growth has caused credit to increase as it was the only way to achieve this growth.
If you force growth where it cannot exist, the system will create it by increasing money supply and people will live accordingly. Families grow, credit grows, etc.

If we realise that this growth is not necessary and just relax and enjoy non- growth, then the world may live accordingly.
Why? The stock market must grow, the profits must be more than last year, etc.
It is all crap and driven by banks through their government pawns.
    High Growth expectations must stop.
If it is all about economists expectations, then we just have to lower them. Then maybe population won’t grow as fast as people will not see such a rosy future and balance will be restored.
Sorry for such simplicity but I am short of time.
    Later dudes.

    Does History Repeat Itself?

Now in early 2010, we hear, the German government will employ rent-a-thieves. Finance minister Wolfgang Schaeuble tells us that he plans to buy the names of German holders of Swiss bank accounts that may be stolen from time to time by dishonest bank employees or anyone else enterprising enough to get his hands on such intelligence. If you find it repulsive and frightening that a government would routinely solicit crimes, and against its own citizens, you’re not alone. As a general rule, people who run governments will do anything to stay in power. Germany’s rent-a-thief program is a sign of how desperate its government is today for the revenue that holding on to power requires.

Germany was also in a similar situation 67 years ago in 1943 after the fall of Stalingrad and the Allied invasion of Italy. Hitler had already denounced the Swiss repeatedly as “despicable and wretched,” “misbegotten,” “renegades,” “repugnant,” and “a pimple on the face of Europe” which “cannot be allowed to continue.” Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi propaganda minister had infamously screamed in his historical February Sportpalast speech to the German people, “I ask you: Do you want total war?

  16. “Buy Love, Sell Fear”

    CHAPTER – 3 – GRAVITY

To understand what the angel’s faith virus was up against, let us review mankind’s history with fear. We can try to understand why those who were taking bets on this fight, in nearby spots like Alpha Centauri and the gambling dens in London, have set the odds at a billion to 1 with fear winning all the enchiladas. The smart money was betting on fear because the conditions for fear’s dominance in this world were tied to something that pre-dated even language’s inability to stop fear from ruling mankind.

The story making the rounds at Lehman, Bear, JP Morgan and Goldman was, ‘gravity.’ Traders and hedge funds were thinking that nothing was going to displace the effect of gravity on the human brain and its psyche; according to the quants and gamblers, because nothing was going to displace gravity in the minds of humankind period; or so the odds-makers thought.

Gravity sucked up incredible amounts of humankind’s mental resources trying to beat it. Planes, levitating trains, and rocket ships to Mars were all about mankind’s attempt to beat gravity using fear based words and numbers – going all the way back to Eden – trying to run away from fear – by naming and numbering everything all the way to nowhere. The meaningless vector of life.

The aggregate mental drain that came from fighting gravity worked against faith’s enlightening attributes. The amount of energy required to combat gravity could have been used to explore purely spiritual dimensions that would have, by now, set humans free from fear, but that would have required a leap of faith greater than even the leap to the Sea of Tranquility.

Furthermore, gravity warped men’s minds in another way – by giving weighty precedence to one particular weighty element: gold. Its heaviness and scarcity took men’s minds off their fear. By owning gold, the burden of having faith was removed.

Men insisted that women wear gold, and they were treated like scarce, shiny commodities by men, and a pattern of objectification began that had a temporary reprieve in the 1970′s after Germaine Greer published “The Female Eunuch;” but then ‘feminism,’ as the anti-objectification movement was called – was thrown to the curb by Cindy Crawford’s generation of “Super Models” or super objectification.

Meanwhile, the more gold that came out of the ground, the more God went underground.

From the point of view of the pseudo science of economics and its protector, the limited liability corporation, you could track gold’s rise along with the rise in business “standards” that equated ‘good’ corporate governance as meaning the best ways to extract, produce, manage, and distribute gold; destroying the Earth and its inhabitants in the process. The price of everything became widely known in the globalized economy, but the value of Earth itself became lost. This is when language really got diluted down to useless as co-option by economic’s storm troopers; financiers, bankers, and lawyers tore speech apart with clauses and sub-clauses protecting the rights of monopolists and monarchs (the M&M’s) – as personal wealth was aggregated and exaggerated at Earth’s expense. Greed’s leeching acid brokered a fear dynasty. Amateurism and altruism died. The Olympics went pro.

Soon even gold wasn’t necessary. It was replaced by promissory notes and these were replaced by IOU’s backed by promissory notes and these were replaced by promises of promissory notes that just belched off printing presses in Washington and elsewhere. Gold died. Big Money was born. To stave off citizen concerns that they were trading non-gold backed worthless paper, the American government inscribed “In God We Trust” on the notes.

At first the worthless paper was used to finance wars and invade countries to look for more gold and oil and when there was none, a McDonald’s appeared instead.

The so-called ‘smart money’ i.e., gold-neutered Big Money – that was betting on fear to beat faith was counting on fear’s formidable arsenal of paranoia, dementia, racism, anger, jealously, sloth, intolerance, contempt, envy, hatred, snobbishness, rigidity, cynicism, discontent, sarcasm, self-pity, malice, distrust, anxiety, suspicion, and jealousy to work in their favor. All words invented by business men to help the M&M’s produce more fear based paper money – at the fear factories in New York and Los Angeles; Washington and Switzerland. Mint more worthless treasury paper, and wage more wars of convenience to get people to beg for more worthless prison paper was the plan and it was making folks blindly rich.

Faith’s backers, and there were a few, like hedge fund master criminal mind George Soros, were betting on faith to win because they were confident that this was going to be, for the first time, a fair fight between these two cosmic heavyweights, and in a fair fight, faith would have an edge, Soros reasoned; because of faith’s historic relationship with that other hugely important cosmic factor; the Sun.

Faith’s backers believed that the mammoth gravitational pull of the Sun, and its undisputed radiance in this world’s human imagination would, in a fair fight, win out over Earth’s gravitational influence on paper fear.

The problem with this logic, according to the paper fear crowd, was that the sun was not very discriminating. It shined equally on the just and the unjust, and it took men to sort out the difference, and men were inherently full of paper fear, so the decisions they made were predominantly paper fear based and not very helpful for their own long term survival.

Soros, the ultimate contrarian and master interpreter of false perceptions – and how they work though into refracting markets and prices, saw the situation differently. So he continued to invest in faith just because – for the moment – this is what seemed the most irrational thing to do, and irrationality is the key to understanding market tops and bottoms if you want to outperform the market as a whole. Also, Soros, leveraging a bit of insider information, heard about the anti-anti bit transforming Jack’s mind and wrongly speculated that God might be involved in throwing the fight.

This was an error, but typical Soros; it was a mistake that ended up making him money. Being right didn’t matter as long as your instincts were good – if you allowed instincts to react to forces deeper than superficial righteousness. Soros was willing to play the fool and take a flyer on his God theory. In his mind, the risk adjusted odds were really something like 5 to 3, not a billion to 1 with fear still winning, but by a much closer margin and he could sell out before the end of the fight at a profit, no matter what the outcome. But his betting ended up having a ‘reflexive’ impact on reality and so Soros’ wrong headed bet started a chain reaction of incorrect assumptions that in turn drove the cosmic wheel against fear but this did not stop him from taking full credit for having saved the world.

    9:30:00034 AM

Jack doesn’t feel a thing as the anti-anti particle from before, after passing through the window, and his cranium, starts having virtual intercourse with one of his brain cells. At the same time, every female within a five block radius of Jack’s apartment becomes sexually aroused. The cause of this spontaneous group arousal among the double-X set is due to the sudden presence of a new meme. A meme of an idea for a new scent being created during the nano second when the anti anti spore bore though Jack’s brain, rewiring some of his brain cells, producing the meme of an ideological odor that combined virtual pumpkin pie, and violet; the two most psycho-sexually arousing scents known to science plus the angel’s faith based currency fire.

Jack’s Phero-meme came into existence. A neurological framework; a cerebral schema, an ideological architecture, a rogue philosophy, a rebel religion, a belief system, a cathedral of neurons built on a virtual, cerebral Jerusalem using an extraterrestrial jism of fear-bashing faith candy butter virus invention and olfactory imperatives.

    9:30:00037 AM

Germination of the anti-anti-particle faith virus begins in Jack’s brain.

The angel’s not sure about how much time it will take to convert all of Jack’s mind to this new way of thinking. It could take an instant, or it could take forever. Once she knows she can calculate how long it will take to convert all of mankind to this new way of thinking.

Evolve or perish; and humans hadn’t evolved much since the beginning of paper fear worshiping.

The angel wondered if Jack would stay alive long enough to get the message out. This was not her first attempt at infecting humans with the truth. All previous attempts had failed. Some spectacularly so.

The seed of the truth message lay dormant in all the human brains of course. It just needed a push.

As the clock struck zero, the odds were officially set at a billion to one – with fear favored to win over faith.

Faith was a moon shot. The moon, by the way, was going to referee this cosmic encounter. Locked in geo-synchronous phase orbit the moon was considered unbiased.

Max, why are you a republican about health care? They are being led into a more equal environment (where everybody pays for something) that is a necessary staging area to create healthcare like we have in the West (haha, western Europe that is!).

Did you do the interview about carbon credits? This was posted earlier http://tinyurl.com/yfeyd5q search for environment for inspitation..

Wherever there is spark, defence people come running with tindersticks hoping to have a cosy bonfire..Decivilization in progress..

Perhaps they can ask the IMF to fund it, it’s a logistically more attractive playground for random military activity .than afganistan, halfway between the US and Russia..Doesn’t anybody get they are BROKE?

Credit default swaps are sucking the life out of banking, commercial defence industry is sucking the life out of civility, patents suck the life out of innovation, oil sucks the life out of the environment. Death has simply been shorted to long…The loss of environmental resrouces will translate into loss of life thought the rise of conflict..We say ‘if it’s not around the left side then it will be around the right side’ and ‘Mr. Bean will have his payday one day’..
