Stacy Summary: Another thread for Iceland; the story of our time. What do you think the next step will be? Sounds like the government is determined to strike a deal with the UK and Netherlands that the people of Iceland should pay the private debts of one bank. Any interesting links you have regarding the Iceland situation here too please!

Stacy Summary: If I had to pigeon-hole myself, I guess I would have to call myself ‘progressive with a touch of liberal stirred with a bit of libertarian.’ But I think this is a seriously dangerous idea the way the progressive/left wing has been jumping on board this notion of guilt by association. It’s wrong for the right wing, left wing, uptown, downtown, man, woman, child, adult, Muslim, Jew, Christian, American, European, Asian, Middle Eastern and Latin American, etc. The author of the article below fails to mention the fact that the man in question was mentally ill and had been hospitalized several times over the past few years for his mental illness. And, having failed to mention the shooter’s mental illness, the writer than tries to paint libertarians as somehow the same as this guy. And I might add that this notion of being ‘anti-government’ as somehow innately and uniquely violent when most of the millions killed in the past five years alone were done in the name of pro-government agendas.

Stacy Summary: Interesting blog post from Mish about what looks like a coming wave of FDIC bank takeovers in third and fourth quarters. Anyone here have inside knowledge on any of the matters raised in the post? Oh, and good morning!

Stacy Summary: This week we look at the scandals behind: “the owner of Great Britain” bouncing a $54 million check for a pile of dirt in the Persian Gulf; a currency speculator in Monaco moving currency markets with an “accidental Jim Rogers press release” while Colonel Gaddafi calls for jihad against Switzerland and receives zero market impact; and Alan Greenspan wins major award for causing global financial markets to explode. Keiser also talks to David DeGraw about his new book, “The Economic Elite versus the People of the United States of America.”
