The whole thing is a huge gambling joke. “Investment” means you are betting with a guy who wears a suit. “Gambling” means you bet on a game with your friends or neighbors. At least you can take into account the honesty of your friends and neighbors.

Well maybe this sun magnetic build up story holds ground? What’s said is that the sun has some sort of magnetic build up which will unload on some point creating huge solar flairs.

@ Bonn – Thanks. Yes, I’m in the US. I’ve seen Food Inc. Great little flick. It used to be available online here but has been taken down due to copyright. The farmer we buy our meat from finally got a chance to see it, too, (customers have been talking about it with him since the summer) and he’s happy about the timing of it . . . the economy sucks, but he’s making out fine b/c more people are aware that the grain-fed beef in the stores is actually the most expensive meat, and business has been picking up for him.

Listening to this show for the first time! It’s great.
May I suggest something? Put it on YouTube with a playlist and post that on here. The reason I never clicked it was the format seemed like too much of a hassle, being used to YouTube videos primarily, which instantly stream. I just found out it plays automatically when I click it, rather than trying to downlaod and save it. YouTube gives a majorly huge return in attention for the investment of time spent posting.
I watch all On The Edge, Markets Finance Scandal vids cause they’re right there.

@ Stacy – My gut says that the civil charges are theater. It will satisfy people who are conned into believing that justice it being served at the same time that it puts the GOP in the position of defending the status quo re: the current burgeoning debate about financial regulation. Obama and the Dems want to move on regulation; Obama recently said he’d veto any bill that does not contain derivatives regulation. However, Geithner has specified that “standard” derivatives are the ones that need to be regulated. For some reason, I don’t think that “standard derivatives” include the ones that are most problematic.
Also, there’s been some more talk lately of pushing the Dodd bill through. So looks to me like Obama is trying to fool the public into thinking that the big bad Goldman is being fairly punished, and trying to to use the civil charge as a springboard to stage another “political win” before November by hammering the big banks rhetorically, pushing through nothing legislation, and acting as though Geithner’s shitty regulation will actually do something worthwhile.
