Stacey – that proves it, when can you trust anything a banker says? Hekla is a more active volcano, I witnessed the 1981 eruption, spectaclar sight. To witness the raw power of nature is humbling. Puts the nonsense of this world into perspective.
Think we could charge Iceland for the carbon footprint of these erruptions? ME get on the phone to Gore see if he can come up with somthing.

The Hekla news are false/wrong. The webcam they are referring to was directed (accidentally) towards the already erupted volcano. I guess they were bored so they wanted some action?…

@karl – well, if so, then that’s something that the Icelandic banker got wrong; he says in the video that it was Hekla
For the record the 1783 event was caused by Laki, not Hekla. Hekla is to the west of the current eruption. Concerns are focused on Katla which shares the same magma chamber as the current Eyjafjallajokull volcano.
That said history shows that the events can be significant. Considering the European poisonings from the 1783 event, one wonders what the impact would be today with the much larger population.
