Obama: Getting Information Via the Internet Is Putting Pressure on Our Democracy

Stacy Summary: Or that’s essentially what he is saying.  It doesn’t seem network news or newspapers is a threat in his eyes, it is a threat when you get it from unembedded sources?   Or is he saying the deployment of information as distraction should be monopolized by the government in their monopoly on propaganda?   I seem to recall, for example, his campaign releasing frivolous information about what Candidate Obama had on his iPod . . .

  4. Well Max & Stacy, I reckon it was Huxley who was on the right track, rather than Orwell.

Social critic Neil Postman in his book ‘Amusing Ourselves to Death’ compares 1984 with a Brave New World in which he writes in the introduction:

“What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one.

Orwell feared those who would deprive us of information. Huxley feared those who would give us so much that we would be reduced to passivity and egoism.

Orwell feared that the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance.

Orwell feared we would become a captive culture. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture, preoccupied with some equivalent of the feelies, the orgy porgy, and the centrifugal bumblepuppy.”

  8. Obama always was “one of the boys” even before he took power in ’08

  9. I have a serious question.

Do you guys think that Obama uses botox? I mean, is it humanly possible to knowingly say such complete and utter bullshit to an audience of millions of people and keep a straight face? Or do you think that Obama is really George Bush wearing a Mission Impossible style rubber mask that he’s going to pull off at the end of his term and say “Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa succkkeerrrsssss!!!!”?

  10. I tink the CFR and CIA have a subject called
Teleprompter Reading 101 – how to out right lie wit a straight face

  12. they probably started that program after George W Bush became president…right after they came out with a program called “how to read/write/speak English 101″.

  13. Gov’ts like to control how people’s minds are distracted.

Wonder how the web bot project fits into all this. Cliff High dude has CIA connections and i know he pitched the original idea to the CIA,but they were doing their own thing. He admitted this on one of the radio interviews he gave. The Oracle maybe? Its hard however to know how much is web bot project and how much is Cliff’s diatribe.

Realize that America was never meant to be a democracy in the first place. No where in the constitution does it state this. America is ideally supposed to be a republic. Who’s Barry/Obama Kidding?

  17. How does one obtain a ‘truth’ meter, simply bend over and get ready for the chip I guess?

That’s exactly what he was on about.

  18. Translation: Word is finally getting out that the concepts of government and money are fast becoming obsolete. The last thing the establishment wants the masses to find out is that they are unnecessary.
