There is no war on savings with zero interest rates. But, since the conventional wisdom believes this wholeheartedly, there are few options in the debate except to use your best caution whenever anyone runs off at the mouth about interest rate cospiracies.
The market sets the interest rates, and if central bankers heed the advice of economists that interest rates could not possibly be adjusted lower, then they will have no other choice than to litterally print money like it’s going out of style. And. THEN YOU WILL get higher interest rates, but with no way of avoiding hyper-inflation. Following interest rates set by the market is by far the best course of action.
This is why I think they’re absolutely crazy to keep interest rates where they are in Yurp. Or that central bankers should absolutely heed the advice of think-tanks on that subject.

I think there was a contradiction in his remarks. He talks about the rigging of interest rates for speculators but then he talks about lending to the actual investors. His complaint was something along the lines of: only large corporations or companies with assets can get any credit. Isn’t that what you want? I once had a gorgeous registered nurse for a girlfriend and she assured me that insulin overdose was definately the best way to commit suicide. For some reason she didn’t want me to tell me spicific doses but she said it was like just drifting of to sleep. One of the wards she looked after had lots of failed suicides so she had first hand experience of ways this can go wrong. Sleeping pills: cause vomiting and abdominal pain plus you might wake up from a coma with a wrecked liver and then spend the next week or so dying anyway – but in agony. Guns: you would be surprised how much of your brain you can lose and still live. Tall buildings and trains: don’t even get me started.
But hey: Even though things look terrible now and you have nothing but pain and suffering to look forward to consider that things often change for the better quite suddenly, if not for the world then definately for individuals. Parhaps if you hang on a little while longer things might improve. There could actually be some great times ahead. Also: there is the possiblity (as yet not disproven) that there is a hell.
