  1. @Faux – yes, I think that the value of apprenticeship and experience has been hugely diminished over the past two or three decades as the education system has morphed into the debt racket/College Industrial Complex

  2. The Faux Press

College education is a HUGE ripoff. Has been for a while. Better to learn how to teach yourself and get a few apprenticeships, including learning at least one skill that includes making and/or repairing something. College: another faux piece of the American pie dream.

  3. Max needs to learn that there are two kinds of sh_t in this world: mine and others’. Mine is OK – others’ are horrible. Since we all feel that way, we need to recognize that while talking about out own sh-t might not seem revolting, it is to others.

  4. Great show! The best yet! The gunshot was priceless, as was “the Gulf of Arizona” and “Night of the Living Debt”.

  5. Great to hear that you are going to be on GCN network.

Stacy you are right about parsing through the CIA operatives on blogs, MSN. Hell, Fox News is the CIA!

That’s why it’s good to hear that you are expanding to GCN.

    Thanks for what you do.

  6. u guys talking bout propaganda ??? ha ha too late i WAS the 1st…check out some of jerry celentes u-tube clips from over a year ago when he talks bout the bailout bubble that’s supposedly going to be the biggest……
i say (then) jerry….it’s not …the biggest bubble yet to pop is gonna be the bullshit bubble, for when that pops and everybody in the u.s. AND everywhere else for that matter realizes that they’ve been continuesly shoved shit down their throat….there’s gonna be some serious hell to pay LoL

  7. Was thinking about going to NYU to study Dentistry. It would have cost me $320 000 + when factoring in living expenses
    No thank you

  8. Lord Monckton Global warming fraud clearly explained

    http://vimeo.com/8023097

“This guy tells it how it is. The theory of man made global warming as an excuse for a world wide carbon tax to make unelected officials trillions of dollars. Biggest scam of the century. This is a must see!”

Rich Matarese says, also on Vimeo:

“I have not yet seen a more cogent explanation of the criminal fraudulence and conspiracy (for that is precisely what their crimes encompass) of the CRU correspondents and the political figures allied with them….”

  9. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see a lot of cock-ups and scandals attributed to the LibDems over the next 12mths followed by a snap election with the Tories cleaning up.

Modern day Robin Hoods, well we do have Dudus in the hood. As for fuedal England, by certain accounts it wasn’t all that bad, the average vassal work less than his modern conterpart, land was shared, they had the protection of the local Lord. People were more than willing to swear allegiance to their Lord, and this interestingly enough posed a threat to the King and central government, which over time the King and Gov. attacked. A lot of the bad things we associate with feudal times like famine and pestilence were out of control of humans.

Jews and anti-semitism. Now correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t the Jews willingly enter into a covenent with the Old Testament God, y’know Abraham and all that business, and isn’t the Old Testament God the vengeful, unrelenting, wrathful, merciless, sacrifice seeking God.
Therefore it would seem that a little bit of self introspection would go a long way, if the Jews wish to get themselves involved with this sort of ne’er do well, then ye can’t really go around blaming the rest of the bleedin’ world for yer troubles. They should have been a bit more discerning in who they chose to worship, one of those friendly Gods all peace, compassion, and forgiveness, even the capricious Greek Gods would have been a whole sight better.

Max how about leaving copies of Buy Fear Sell Love in all yer favourite Parisian haunts, ye never know when ye might get caught short again.

  11. @Stacy…you dont strike me as a rollins fan.

  12. Risk/benefit: If the Deepwater Horizon well had never been drilled we’d have to start thinking about how to live in a post-oil world today rather than tomorrow afternoon. 100 million barrels of oil is almost nothing in the grand span of civilisation.

    @Max & Stacy

Great Show Folks love you guys using your fantasy to get to the real nature of things although you lost me somewere today while my own thoughts were mingeling into future predictions also now Spain got down grated by the corrupt rating agencies, the unenployment number stil rising and austerity meaurements at the front door which surely will bug down the economy while deflation is still going on.

I still think that my predictions in going “The Japanes Way” are correct which makes my over all prediction from 2008 still standing namely: 5 years of deeper crises foilowed by 10 years of slumping down the bottem of deflation like the Japanese “The Lost Decenium”.

But in my mind it will go like this Deflation – Inflation – Deflation. We now still are in the first Deflation fase but in a way it’s like I said in December 2008 “deflation and inflation going hand in hand ” http://blogs.reuters.com/great-debate/2008/12/12/finance-throws-sand-in-wheels-of-trade/#comment-3223

  14. @Creative Destruction – I had my pizza in the student union; I also saw Henry Rollins and the Pixies perform there; LOL, just them and about 20 students eating pizza; there also used to be a cookie shop at the top of Broxton, I think it was called Broxton Cookies, anyway, they sold four chewy fresh baked cookies for $1 and I had lots of those . . . real healthy

@Paul – I graduated with no debt (and I was an out of stater meaning the tuition was if I recall $10k per year); my mom paid for the tuition and I worked about 25 or 30 hrs per week first at HG Daniels Art Supply shop (when believe it or not I lived at the Bryson Building for my first year!) then at Brentwood Stationers

I love that you went to UCLA. I went there too and thought that much of what I was learning was impractical and not much of use in the real world. What I did get out of it was the connections and acquiring social competence. Good thing I was savvy about my educational finances; I graduated with only about 14K in debt, which is a miracle by today’s standards. Those were good times though. And it doesn’t hurt to name drop the university when you’re talking to people that give regard to university prestige.

You went to UCLA? I hang out in Westwood a few days a week. I love stopping by Stan’s Donuts and getting a slice of pizza at Enzo’s. I’m currently looking for a job there (UCLA, not Stan’s or Enzo’s).

I spent six years studying Philosophy and Art History at UC Berkeley. Look at me now – I’m trying to pay the rent by selling some financially relevant parody shirts. But I enjoyed learning what I was interested in and I paid for everything with scholarships, work study and just plain work.

Having said that, check out the new “Standards R Poor”, “ShittyBank”, “Bankrob America”, “Everything Must Go” and “Deutsche Bankrott (Bankrupt Germany)” t-shirts available at your local http://www.creativedestruction.us

  24. @zaphodity Thank you.

  25. Instant gratification is far too slow. We seem to come by our impatience naturally. Our immediate wants show up as the most significant. Long-term concerns can seem irrelevant and far too distant. Just believe in the monetary, set reason aside. Complaining is not silly, like prodding a homely girl with 11 foot poles; the pock marks are designed to make one feel better about oneself now aren’t they? Actually doing something, now that is silly.

I’m finally catching on to the game. Please continue to pass the mushrooms!

I am a Peak Propaganda denier. I believe that the Peak Propaganda scientists are just out to make a buck. Propaganda is self-sustaining. Look at the success of Glenn Beck, Bill O’Reilly, Fox News, CNBC, MSNBC, Air America. Look at every advertisement on radio, television, billboards, etc etc etc. Every piece of advertisement is commercial propaganda.

  28. Self-anointed “elites” offer up a sacrifice -in hopes of calming the “unwashed masses” -?

Want a proof that British Petroleum are runned by godamn assholes ? So is the US federal government. 500,000$ investnment would have prevented everything ! They force all companies in Norway drilling to equip their rigs . Stupid and cheap multinationals and stupid Washington SCUMBAGS. 500,000$ ! Prevention is not important in the USA. USA is really a third world country.

  30. Marc Authier

The Russians had these problems, The only was to close the thing is using a mini nuclear bomb. Rape and pillage is THE MODEL feeding the “American Dream”. The model is now broken. This spill is indeed a superb metaphor about anglo-saxon type capitalism.

  44. @Mr Grinch

I’ve seen conflicting reports on Global warming/Climate Change/Were all gonna DIE thingy from scientists saying they have data that confirms it and DOESN’T confirm it. Now if I saw ALL of them saying the same thing then i’d have something to worry about. Every 10 years, when government agencies funding comes under revision all of a sudden the climate thingy comes up on the agenda. Everyday theres less and less fresh water in the ocean !!!! lol

  45. In regards to Global Warming, well…It did kill the Dinosaurs didn’t it ? What with all those corporate volcanoes spewing out BILLIONS of tons of noxious substances, all those dino’s breaking wind and the methane THEN that big rock that fell from the sky was the cherry topping it all off..I agree all the stuff humans do isn’t helping but it’s not the sole cause. The Earth goes through changes (just like any living thing) it has it’s seasons, the sun blasting solar radiation at it, it all goes into the mixing pot. Humans get on the enviroment
bandwagon every 10 years of so, happened in the 70′s, 80′s, 90′s now it’s our turn for the enviromental self flagulation kink ! etc

ALL the climategate docs.. unzip it and read the pdf… Rules of the game which is basically a propagandists manual on how to sell AGW to the slaves of the world, the fact that reasonably intelligent people are STILL hoodwinked is a testament to the effectiveness of mass psychological manipulations and the human herd instinct.

Potential profit from a worldwide carbon taxation is more than enough motive for any group of scheming Ken Lay types in Govt. and finance who by the way are all for pushing the AGW and you keep sucking at that logically deficient lie that taxing carbon will do anything besides hurt the western world.

Pollution is bad but CO2 is not pollution.

Here is British Petroleum avoiding the word “failure” in their description of the results of the “top kill” procedure:

“Despite successfully pumping a total of over 30,000 barrels of heavy mud, in three attempts at rates of up to 80 barrels a minute, and deploying a wide range of different bridging materials, the operation did not overcome the flow from the well.”

    http://www.bp.com/genericarticle.do?categoryId=2012968&contentId=7062487

Translation. We failed to stop the extraordinary flow of oil and gas into the beautiful ocean. The same flow of oil and gas that WE caused by focusing on our profits at the expense of the undersea ecosystems, the livelihoods and the health of the people who live in the southern states of America, the western states of Mexico and possibly other countries as well.

“At 18,000 feet into the bedrock lies the Macondo oil deposit, which, thanks to the Deepwater Horizon accident, is now spewing its crude cargo at between 14,000 and 19,000 barrels of oil a day into the Gulf of Mexico. It is Day 40 of the disaster.

Estimated by BP to hold 50 million barrels, the seam of oil has emptied as much as 740,000 barrels (one barrel is 42 gallons), or about 1.5 percent of the total. Because of the immense pressures of the earth’s innards, geologists say, the deposit will completely unload into the Gulf unless the Deepwater Horizon well is capped.”

Thanks for the title, I may be in trouble with the LORD and the LADY now, and so may be Keiser(Party)Ville ;-)

I think an important disctinction to make with precooked curiculum is that some students can understand why the material is or isn’t important to master, and some can’t. In some cases when the material is nonsense the student gets it and quits, on others the student doesn’t and wastes time.

The key imho is to force students at some point to gain some knowledge autonomously (without asking anyone) and learning that that yields better results.

Because the student does most of the work education should be virtually free (just like evrything else).

  98. Here you go, Dedo…
    For your edification…

Marc Faber at “Austrian Economics and the Financial Markets,” the Mises Circle in Manhattan on 22 May 2010 in New York, New York

  99. Thank you for bringing a little “bazoom!” into the doom. “Norman Batesidation” is lovely.

Max, go listen to Puplava’s interview with Matt Simmons on the May 29 page….at the end he refers to his test of 50kw windmill generators and how they make NH3 and desalinate seawater!

  100. Brian Laws – Member of the British ConDemed party – resigns:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/10191524.stm

Was a seriously compromised MP selected for the role to partner Bilderburg Osborne as a strategy? Vince Cable was always the man for the job but he got overlooked and then had his budget slashed… cut backs – the irony… Now Laws is exposed… I wonder if another LibDem will replace him or if Osborne now gets free reign?

    UK = A condemnation

  101. cookie cutter

War on this, war on that… peak this, peak that…
How about: “War on war”? Or at least “peak peak!” :-) -O=l

  102. @Baggo,…and to the other,..hmmm idiots,..

    ; )

  103. Addendum:

The one exception to the rule is PhD studies… which are, for the most part, self-directed… and, from my understanding, exogenously funded

  104. @Baggo,…..sighhhh,……(don’t you get fed up with your own rhetoric? )

  105. @Mother Earth, Chief Magistrate of Keiserville,

But all education is selfeducation, only in some cases you are led to believe the curriculum is matured so much there is no risk of subjectiveness in it. Autodidaction assumes you choose your own material, but even then you still need to have a well advised base of knowledge

You actually bring up a good point there…
Even in autodidactic pursuits, one is still left to question the quality/validity of materials utilized…
In my case, I did a cursory analysis of the source materials used in the local Universities, and pulled some of their (key) choices for myself.
But after that, I have directed my path with other source materials that may contradict what is formally taught.
However, that is how I wish to learn… granted, this current activity of mine is purely cerebral… there is little one can do to practically apply any of the subjects I am learning…
    Mental-gymnastics only… :)
But in the end, if I wish to turn this into a practical form of employment, I will be forced to undergo the rigors and debt of the system so as to back up my education with accreditation.

And indeed, I suppose one could say all education is still “self-education” requiring the active participation of the recipients…
However, Formal Education is not truly “self-directed”, and that is the principal quality that separates Autodidacticism from Pedagoguery .

  106. I think the word/concept, you lot are debating ,…is “responsible”,. : ),..most aren’t!

  107. Dennis Black

just finished the show. it did not end on a high note, but then again that is why people listen to max – the endless ability to tell the truth about more than markets. you comments about college is a truth that really needs to be said and not just in the measured, ultimately meaningless style of the nyt. we are paying over $100k a year to send twin girls to private college. and the schools actually hold class for about 6 months a year. then the call up and ask us for donations. Yikes! of course we pay because we emotionally hold on to the dream of the old america max talked about(i went to yale law school for $3200 room, board and tuition). we are only talking about little green pieces of paper, but i’m glad you are calling bullbleep on the whole racket. and, as you pointed out you can’t bankrupt student loans as you can walk away from a mortgage.

  108. @Adam C

If the government is simply trying to make things work for society then there is no objection. I see a lot of ‘throw out the baby with the bathwater’ behaviour which is usually republican sponsored opinion. The only babies that need to be thrown out are psychobankers and other mercyless hoarders of undeserved privilege.

There seems to be no limit to the weakening entrenchement and infdividualism that can be evoked by some percieved injustice..This is the Fox News business model..

  109. Mother earth,
    make youre piont.

  110. My idea.

    London please, not Amsterdam.

  111. Marc Authier

    Tele tubbie BP.

  112. @My honourable friend Lord Guiseppe B.

But all education is selfeducation, only in some cases you are led to believe the curriculum is matured so much there is no risk of subjectiveness in it. Autodidaction assumes you choose your own material, but even then you still need to have a well advised base of knowledge, otherwise you will find yourself knowing everything there is to know about Manchester United..

Also imho a large part of being smart is understanding your complete physical independence. This has nothing to do with books, but can fail to ever dawn on people, like wildebeat can fail to ever see they are physically superior if they fight lions head on. I has a better chance to become obvious if you choose your own material.

  113. Marc Authier

Instead of nuking Iran, Israel/USA (same freakin war mongering country) could try nuking BP.

  114. MirrorMirror

    INTERPOL & THE LIST

………… Much progress has come, but it is not shared publicly. Finally, lists are being compiled for Arrest Warrants of US & UK & West Europe bankers and politicians complicit with banking center corruption. The story mentioned London bankers working for Goldman Sachs as having their passports lifted. More to come on this showdown. It begs the question who delivers the warrants and what happens if they are rebuffed in defiance, especially if armed bodyguards are present. The list reportedly reads like a Who’s Who, not yet seen by Jackass eyes though. A climax is coming, but unclear when. ………..

  115. @Mother Earth

So it’s not easier to indoctrinate children in government schools??

  116. @Mother Earth

There is a difference between an Autodidact and a Familial Pedagogue
    as you misconstrue it…

    Self-Education MEANS to teach yourself…
    That doesn’t mean “home schooling”

Just to clarify the situation… no offense, eh… ;)

  117. Debt .

When you pull the plug it is like a sink hole.
The event horizon is the Dollar.
The rest is the Blackhole (deflation).
    Maybe (hyper)inflation nobody knows.
Even Einstein and Heizenberg could not agree!

  118. I am talking to a renewables bank about setting up a new currency for funding renewable projects..They did not get the interest can be set semi arbitrarily in a bond like structure, so I am explaining it to them and they are listening.

  119. Self eductaion is also promoted by republicans because they know that parents squezed for time in their slave jobs will not be able to rear intellectually autonomous individuals.. cannon fodder to exploit and kill in the dying consumption society..Another thing is that children become less social and will have to argue over facts their parent messed up.

A better method is the Kibutz way of rearing and teaching children, or at least more communal. Children hardly know who their parents are, but in all probability the ones that pretend to be aren’t anyway..

  120. Mother Earth,

    Keep the dollars,Maybe you
can change them in the future for one
greenback. But in times of deflation they are still
    the currency.

  121. Dennis Black

stacy – it is not mysterious, it is the power of fear. it really is that simple. the solution is hard to see. if you try to look at it rationally(cognitively) you can’t see it. check out ptsd nation at freedomain radio(where max has been interviewed). dr. omaha has it figured out. you and max are great and are right on the issues. so what, now what.

  122. I will send some of that dollar printed toilet paper..

  123. @Stacy

    RE: Autodidacticism (i.e. self-education)

As much as I am a proponent of such actions
    (Hello Frank Zappa)
there is a reason for a directed, formal education,
    that being ACCREDITATION.

Take my situation as a fabricator, for instance.
Since I do not have ACCREDITATION
either via the Gov’t's RED-Seal or through a formal education in the apprenticeship system,
it becomes very difficult for me to convince any prospective employer that I am worthy of such a title…
Even though my WORK EXPERIENCE clearly shows that I have the capacity of being one.
Whereas, bozos who have gone through the system, and received the appropriate accreditation, get the call, EVEN IF they are clearly incompetent…

So now, even though I am studying economics on my own, I would NEVER be considered credible
simply because I have not gone through the system and passed their scrutiny…

Perhaps it is just societal myopia… The inability to see beyond a sticker of approval…
    :(

  124. Gordo you are right!

Still something like 650,0 Tr. Dollars to go!

  125. Dennis Black

max is laughing about renaming the gulf of mexico. 1 was in bahrain and said it was on the persian gulf. i didn’t say that again. it is the arabian gulf, thank you very much.

  126. Debt is the enemy of inflation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, Debt causes inflation on the way up side of the bubble and deflation on the down side of the bubble.

  127. Mike/Liverpool

Honda close plant in China because……
    http://paultan.org/2010/05/29/honda-shuts-down-chinese-plants-due-to-workers-strike/

Sorry its not an X-File story BTW
    Mike

  128. Good show Stacey and Max,

Debt is the enemy of inflation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So we are still to start deflation. Or drop the big one!

There will be not a another currency, only the dollar.(debt)

The game theory is played ! (dollar rellated),

And if? game theory doesn’t gives you the good result
    dollar looses you can always

    make war and win!

    You have debt.

    Deflation.

    Greetings Bernanke.

  129. @Stacy

Killing it so far, good show. Good commentary on Ben earlier also.

Guess I will have to hold my breath if a Hurricane comes over Houston.

  130. Stacy,

Where’s OTE? I’m just about to sit down with the wife and enjoy our Saturday evening treat?

    The fajitas are getting cold!

  131. Don’t forget england also had it’s revolution, and far from being behind the times the english were exceedingly advanced when they lopped their kings head off. In the vanguard of cromwell armies were ranters and levellers who would accept no divide right, no bishops and no king to serve.
