I own a paintball gun and have watched the video. At least 1 Israeli soldier was shooting paintballs at protesters. Did this guy watch the video??
@Gail: Go deeper down the rabbit hole….Yes the SCOTUS decision in 1886 ( Santa Clara County v. Union Pacifc RR ) was the initial beginning of the transferral of the rights of human persons to the rights for corporations…yet the Robber Baron economy has been circumventing the governmental system for some time…the meeting on Jekyll Island in 1910 ( leading to the FED ); and the Bilderberger Hotel meeting in 1954 leading to the formation of the European Common Market and the European Union and possibly the Lisbon Treaty implimentation…a 21st Century codification much like the 1886 decision “footnote” where the rights of individual citizens are nullified within the EU ) have had serious effects on limiting the rights of man that were fought with sweat and blood…the Suffrage movement and the Civil rights movement and the environmental movement and the Child labor laws and all the other protections that were granted with the underlying knowledge that the true economic power was steadily being concentrated by the elite t the elite…Now that the euro is “dead in fives years” what do you suppose that means?? Will they give the sovereign power to issue currency back to the people??? I hardly think not…the masses whom you so rightly believe need their power reinatated…need a Continental Congress not a Constitutional Convention…thanx for the posting
Its good to see Dr. Roberts again.
Great interview Max.
61 items to load on this page (49 on the homepage) … hogging bandwidth and processing resources. It might be reduced by use of youtube playlists for video stories, and frames for the advertising, unless it’s done this way to generate ad hits — welcome to the cyber gulag?
Every point is very well explained. .
Paul Craig Roberts is interesting to me in large part *because* of his political history dating back to the Reagan administration. He and the late Jude Wanniski played a significant role in creating ‘Reaganomics’ and it’s deficit financing, however both seem to have fallen out with the Republican mainstream when it became dominated by neo-cons and their legion of Christian Zionists.
Because they’re both right-wing conservatives, I’m interested in how they can arrive at rational, humane conclusions which someone of the left can agree with. I think significant political progress, to improve social and economic conditions, does require broad alliances.
Factions of both capital and labour have a shared interest in reining in the finance capital which seems to have seized all power over the economy and now colonised the organs of state in advanced western democracies — what I see as financial corporatism.
With the advent of the financial crisis, that represents a certain crisis of liberal democratic theory, to match the crisis of capital which has brought it to the surface. It’s interesting to hear citizens of advanced liberal democracies disassociate themselves from their elected governments, and from the conduct of their states, even when those governments are re-elected after their war crimes are apparent. War criminals were democratically re-elected by the people.
All roads most probably lead to Rome, Dedo. In which case: you sell the hotdogs, and I’ll sell the beer at our roadside pub.
Are we allowed to name the pub?
Preposterous Preponderance Pub
@Frances……..Great posts, bud’,…as always,..you cut through the crap, and get to the “real” meat !,….thanks for sharing ; )
I believe the term American and what it constitutes is a nominal term which derives its force through exclusion.
I don’t have ‘standards’ for the use of nominal terms: I think life would have been nicer if Adam had left off naming all the animals.
I don’t attend the church labeled “founding fathers”, one wonders at the notion of their inherent goodness and infallibility.
The system of governance was based on sovereign authority: we had not nor have not moved past that legal basis.
Is it heresy to admit that George Washington did not cut down any cherry trees. That Abe Lincoln most probably did lie. That Thomas Jefferson’s quotes have nothing to do with the banking system run by international agency?
Do we haffa take a picture in front of the Lincoln Memorial everytime we go to Washington?
If Greenwald wants to find tribal indicators, why not target those who retain a lit-wick leading back to some mythological goodness ascertained in white wigs and stockings.
@Stacy:
Now who is being biased?
@snoot – it’s only anti-American if you consider oligarchy and kleptocracy ‘American’ qualities; I don’t think these are uniquely American qualities; but, indeed, by your measure the founding fathers of the experiment of America would be wildly, treasonously anti-American I believe by your standards
P.S.
The only way to change the American political system is a constitutional amendment that states that people are defined as natural persons. This would then not allow corporations and special interests to give politicians financial donations under the constitution as free speech.
Additionally, legislation needs to close the revolving door loophole so politicians and employees can not work as lobbyists for at least ten years after leaving office.
As a suggestion, Thom Hartmann, American radio talk show host, has written several books on these topics and would make a great guest for one of your shows.
Max,
This particular show you did with Dr. Roberts was probably your best show in some time since you spent a lot of time with Dr. Roberts discussing the structural and political problems within the United States and its economy on a level that it was easy to understand.
As an American living in California, my family and friends are sickened at what has happened to our country.
Americans took their eyes off their government while politicians have been deregulating and passing policies and legislation to benefit corporations and special interests, especially Wall Street and multinational companies.
Unfortunately, the American political system is broken and allows politicians to provide big business and special interests with policies and legislation that favors them while at the same time looting taxpayers. Also, this allows these very politicians to receive campaign finance donations from these big businesses and special interests.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Business Roundtable and special interests are the shadow government along with their lobbyists who really run the U.S. government. Corporate employees go back and forth between corporate work and working for the federal government. Same is true for politicians’ staffers who work for the politicians and politicians who leave government and then go to work lobbying Congress and the President.
As you know, we do not have a two party system but a one party system that is run by corporations and special interests, as described above.
Corporate media confuses Americans by continuing the illusion of a left-right two party system. This is one of the main reasons why Americans are not informed about what is happening in this country.
With the financial/economic crisis, healthcare debacle, the ongoing wars, the Gulf oil spill, etc. it appears the American people have woken up and understand that their government doesn’t represent them.
My family and friends are hoping that the American people are understanding what is happening to their country and vote all the incumbents out of office this November.
Thank you and Stacy for keeping all of us informed – we need all the truth and information on this side of the Atlantic.
“You seem to go out of your way to find a flaw in people’s arguments. You seem to enjoy arguing for the sake of arguing.”
At present this forum has descended into an anti-American rant-room. Dr. Roberts is a form of preacher/leader, who once embraced and fostered the Friedman ideal, but now trashes everything associated with America: most especially Americans. He does this by claiming innocence for himself and his cronies that operated during the inception of the Friedman Frankenbaby.
Yet, Creative, I’m termed argumentative and biased because I point out that the argument (crash the UK and the USA, down with the Anglo-banking system) is flawed and simplistic and will not cede peace nor utopia on the planet.
I’m reamed because I point out that there is a system operating parallel to the one in which we find succour; a system of apartheid liquidity which is seeking to destroy our system and stand erect and separate through the denial of capital to the common humans: humans who are being imaginatively termed as future assets within the apartheid system’s books.
These humans instead of addressing their future suffering now when there may be some advantage, instead load up on capital which is being made obsolete within the apartheid system’s regulatory rhetoric concerning liquid assets.
I’m chastised when I make one reference to Germany which could be deigned offensive. But scapegoating Americans finds not only a home here but a football-team-like-cheerleading squad.
Go Team.
We have talking-heads put ‘above us’ to give us ‘truth’. These heads all once participated in the dollar-ponzi (and, mind you, the sdr ponzi is only the inevitable milk-separater apparatus to extract the cream from the dollar system) but now have VISION and wish to impart our way to happiness and a shared planet. What the heads neglect to impart is any information relevant to the change coming which will advantage those whom they term ‘the unwashed masses’.
That would be you and me, Creative.
If their arguments are frothy and fraught with foam, then one should point out their errancy. But-not-anymore. We are reaching as a class human for a priesthood to advance the new order of religious intolerance, an order which calls truth into being through mere words.
“These entities are not aliens but human beings with flaws like the rest of us.”
The monetary system of liquidity that these entities have access may be described as alien in the context of ‘us’:
“2 : differing in nature or character typically to the point of incompatibility
synonyms see extrinsic”
http://www.merriam-webster.com/netdict/alien
http://www.merriam-webster.com/netdict/extrinsic
The dollar indexed system is extrinsic to the sdr indexed system: but not to the point of incompatibility. Strauss-Kahn/Zhou are speaking of a new international financial system which is not compatible with the current system to which ‘we’ have access.
The aliens may fight amongst themselves, but they see everything to gain through cooperation in consolidating their new international financial order, at present through the extension and use of the sdr/index/unit.
I escaped the USA in1989….seeing the writing on the wall years ago after I came back from Vietnam.
The USA is the most corrupt nation on the face of the earth.
This may sound extreme but if they were smart they would train their weapons on Israel and force them to disband.
The world would rejoice and America might actually be respected.
It would be a boon for the economy bringing back all those jobs in Israel to the USA. It would liberate the Palestinians who could go back to being aggraian……and living the simple life but peacefully.
If your government wants to do the dodgy thing and not have safety precautions (when the majority of the world seems to) then don’t piss and moan and blame everyone else when it blows up in your own face. I’m sure car company’s would sell cars without seatbelts or airbags or with second hand tires but here’s the thing, would you buy one ? If the answer is yes then don’t complain when you crash and burn.
ONLY real threat to yanks are the arseholes sitting in the White House. ALL of your countries ills can be traced back to that place. This twit rambles on about free markets being a problem and it’s B/S. Since the human race has traded there’s ALWAYS been an open free market. Problem isn’t free markets its the criminals in the White House screwing with it. But Americans have a habit of writing a book about their problems (or making a movie) rather than fix it. They also blame everyone but themselves for their problems which is what’s happening with BP at the moment. Who was in charge of the rig ? American company’s had the watch didn’t they ? Thats like getting drunk going out in your car and killing yourself in an accident then blaming the car company for it lol
How you can interview a guy responsible for Reaganomics and expect answers is beyond me.
@ Snoot
You are quite the interesting individual! A true absolutist. Is there anyone you agree with? You seem to go out of your way to find a flaw in people’s arguments. You seem to enjoy arguing for the sake of arguing.
There are some things that Max says that I disagree with. I disagree with Stacy sometimes too. But overall I find that I agree with a majority of their analysis and they provide me with more sources of information that I can research. They have helped me understand some of the mechanisms of the markets. And, perhaps most importantly they agree that Gold and Silver serve as a store of value during these times.
Like Marc Faber, Jim Rogers, Gerald Celente, Peter Schiff and many others they have taught me how to understand the current situation and how to prepare for the future. Once again, I may not agree with EVERYTHING they say but their knowledge has helped me tremendously.
Try to keep an open mind, try to move away from the biases you have developed. It is not easy. I have my own biases but I still read your comments. I rarely agree with them but I agree with some of your comments about the future economic world order (the replacement of the USD as the world’s reserve currency).
Either way, do your thing Snoot. You make this comments section interesting.
Thank you Max and Stacy. Excellent interview with Paul Craig Roberts.
great interview with Roberts. Max and stacy have had some very good interviews.
Too bad the idiots that only watch the big media boob tubes can’t hear whats really going on. They could. They could get all sorts of information via the internet. But they choose not to.
Are the sheeple afraid to know the truth.
Wow, I think this is one of your best interviews. You covered so many topics very interesting, keep up the good work.
@Snoot
What if the financial Papacy was more like the Anglican Communion which shared a certain identity but also displayed certain dramatic fissures within their network.
These entities are not aliens but human beings with flaws like the rest of us.
Solid interview. Max hitting his stride.
What do you think about the Fofoa websites take on the tension between the BIS and IMF Churches regarding the Gold bias of the BIS and the SDR Love Story that the IMF is involved in.
@Dork:
The sdr index benefits both entities, so I think the ‘conflict of interest’ has been manufactured: both entities use sdr as index and account unit.
@Grisu:
I suppose if Roberts trounced Germans or Europeans the way he has Americans you would not respond the way you do to my “sea of posts”. I think it is not the quantity of seawater you disdain but the ph is not to your suiting: too salty/briney. You prefer tap water easily received in your glass without any effort of thought/refinement on your part outside insoucient agreement.

Mike if Chinese workers earned the same as American workers there would be no problem as the point of moving a business offshore would be to capture the worker cost savings into profits which would not be the case if the chinese earned the same
almost forgot… the only solution to the problems in the US is for states to secede
Why shouldn’t Chinese workers earn the same as American workers?
excellent interview
Did the US MSM carry any of this information–I guess not
ISRAELI “COMMANDOS” EXECUTED PEACE ACTIVISTS, MOSTLY WITH SHOTS TO THE BACK OF THE HEAD AT POINT BLANK RANGE, WHILE PRISONERS WERE KNEELING, ACCORDING TO A REPORT FROM AN ISRAELI PAPER, BASED ON AUTOPOSY RESULTS
An American teenager was murdered by Israel commandos, pirates really, this week. He was shot in the abdomen and, instead of being given medical aid, he was held down on the deck of a ship, probably by multiple pairs of combat boots and shot four times in the back of the head at close range. Reports from the Israeli Knesset have Israeli boats approaching the unarmed flotilla, machine guns pouring lead across the decks. These facts won’ t be in any American or British newspaper or on the television news, not the corporate networks anyway. Israel dictates what is reported, even by the BBC, an organization they control entirely.
10,000 Max-ction figure sales shouldn’t be that difficult considering the amount of people that watch all his shows.
Great interview with Dr Roberts – numerous ‘sad but true’ points most of the West won’t face.

@ronron,..naughty!,..you mean like this “0″ ; )
@Marc Authier,
Any particular reason why you’re being so rude?
Quite an excellent show.
I usually only hear Dr. Roberts when he is being interviewed by Alex Jones. How refreshing to have someone let Dr. Roberts speak and have an interviewer who asks intelligent on-point questions.
I think the outsourcing of U.S. jobs and production has been going on for at least 40 years. Our government rewards companies with many incentives for moving their operations overseas.
There are a few people who are trying to defend Israel’s actions, whatever in fact those actions were, regarding the flotilla. I do not know the facts or evidence on that and never will. I do find it a bit odd that Dr. Roberts does not seem to acknowledge at all that Isreal may have had some justification for at least some of their actions.
I really think Israel wants war on Iran and that this flotilla incident is somehow part of their set-up toward that end.
I keep asking myself…
‘ why would Israel take actions on the flotilla ship(s) that they knew would turn the whole world, minus the USA, against them. ‘ Israel must have had some reason for wanting to put themselves in that position.

Has any US Agency/Private executive/ President asked for these assurance?

It seems the USA is trying to stop hawaladar banking…
I guess it’s part of the Capital Controls mixed with War-on-Terror paranoia…
Prosecutors alleged during the trial that Banki received the wire transfers in a personal Bank of America Corp. account he set up for that purpose. The money came from companies and individuals in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Latvia, Slovenia, Russia, Sweden, the Philippines, the U.S. and other countries, prosecutors said.
Banki allegedly used a value-transfer system called hawala, in which money doesn’t physically cross international boundaries through the banking system, according to the statement.
Customers transfer funds to operators known as hawaladars in one country, and corresponding funds are distributed by associate hawaladars to recipients in another country, according to the statement. The parallel accounts are later settled by the hawaladars in a variety of ways.
The jury convicted Banki of five counts, including conspiracy, violating the Iran trade embargo, operating an unlicensed money transfer process and two counts of making false statements. No sentencing date has been set.

It took me the better part of eight years to leave that comfort zone, the belief in the GOOD of the USA. It’s still there to be sure but corporate America is at the controls and it’s all evil with them. Just look at the state of things and their culpability in ruining the place. If they could treat the US population with such contempt, I hate to think what they’ve got in store for Israel.
Who gave the blessing from DC to shoot people on the high sea? Why would they want Israel in the hot seat? A water war is coming to the middle east so did someone set up Turkey to play a leading role? It’s a huge mass of information to process even for the lateral thinkers.

I don’t have illusions as to role of special interests in US foreign policy decision making process. But I simply refuse to see the US as a country that is engaged in pitting up countries against each other in order to gain the upper hand in the end.
@FranSix
It;s very strange considering that the elite banksters want to let us pay them cap and trade money to quote”save the world” but if there’s actually someting happening that needs saving nobody does do a damn thing and stays on shore to watch it all happen.
This oil spill doesn’t only concern BP or the U.S. so in my opnion the whole world should have gone out with ships and equipment to contain the oil spill.
Well Dr. Strangelove put his chemicals on the oil spill to make things worse. Oil is from the earth and our oceans can handle that but not the human made toxics which were put on it later. Damn fools!

@Youri. that happened to me eating cheesies.
Consider the implications of how an oil well they can only siphon because the pressure is so huge that it will affect the oil markets and the balance of geopolitical power in the world.
It will also affect peak oil in that we once had peak production, but now have peak demand and endless supply. The same happened in the coal markets in the late 19th century. We still use coal, but if sea life is killed off, then the primary oxygen producer dies off as well.
It had to happen sometime, somewhere in the world. Its only Karma that dictates this happens in the Gulf.

I am ashamed to tell this story but I went to the Doctor with that under roughened orange swingle …. well you know what I mean. I was very afraid cause I never had a orange swing swing before you know.
So the Doc had a look at it and asked me: “He Youri what how do you spend your days lately in this crises.?”
I said Doc don’t worry the swing swing is still working very well even under these strange orange colors. I usually spend my days eating some Paprika Chips while watching some Porn”
Roughened orange under? Yes! Sport? Yes, mostly while watching some nature movies.

I indeed have indicated that America is the bazooka in the G20 pocket. What are you going on about?
I once asked here to be a part of an anti-war movement focused on the American military. I consider our military aggression to be a crime against humanity.

Israel is a US conduit and vice versa. Since Obama & Co won’t ever come out and say; ” we’re just using them to play off one Arab state against another” it ‘appears’ to be a dark secret kept from suffering US masses.
It’s not bashing when you state the size of the reward to the Israel government for playing their role. But I know it must hurt you and other Israelis to know you’re just as big chumps as the rest of us. Anybody holding fiat paper is a chump, full stop.
@BettyBleu
Well he did make clear that the U.S. has a giant circumcised elephant dig in the room. That should make that point clear.

The most interesting question Max asked Dr. Roberts, which he declined to answer, was: “Is it legal for the U.S. to give aid to a nuclear-armed country,” i.e., Israel. That was a brilliant question, and I wonder why Dr. Roberts refused to answer it…

@Tamir – PCR comments regularly on the fact that Americans are asked to fund many wars and military bases around the world and to ‘secure the freedom of their allies’ and ‘spread democracy’ (in the words of the neo-conservatives who at this point in US history seem to be the biggest advocates for the forever war), while Americans themselves go without many of the benefits of citizenship of these other states, including Israel, which has universal health care, for example; Roberts knows the neo-cons very well and served with them in the Reagan administration and so comments regularly on what he sees as their suicidal role to America

Hello Stacy,
I’m not known for selective listening skills – but I do believe that your guest said something of that sort – it would not be the first time: What do you think of this quote (see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Craig_Roberts), assuming it is accurate, of course:
“there’s no money for California, or for Americans’ health care, or for the several million Americans who have lost their homes and are homeless, because Israel needs it.”
Please!
@frances snoot
Never imagianed I would see the day that you practised some self reflection “In short, Americans are full of themselves.”
Now snoot repeat after me ” I am an American and I am an Evildoer cause we killed an Hundred Thousand Iraqis for no reason what so ever and we don’t give a damn”
Now say sorry to Hajies
great interview!

I wish you would address the role of “tariffs” , or should I say the lack thereof, that has caused the real exodus of american jobs to the third world. Once the financiers got rid of the tariffs, it became incredibly easy for manufacturing firms to move off shore and exploit the cheap labor of the third world. It’s the real backbone of all the various “free trade” agreements. There will be NO manufacturing base in America so long as tariffs are “illegal”. It’s a rigged game.

@richard@lattitude30N – just between you and me . . . absinthe
MK sayz: “…Bernanke, Obama, Geithner, Wall Street, are going full speed the wrong way in terms of the American people …”
Then this means that these guys are not working for the American people and are probably working for somebody else – ? No way.
And their work – always seems to, somehow, allow a very small group of people (including themselves) to greatly benefit from the never-ending, created, coordinated crises “that can not go to waste”.
Could this small group of beneficiaries be the people for whom they work for-(it’s fact that Bernanke doesn’t work for Obama, doesn’t work for or answer to US Congress, therefore not the American people – and he don’t work for himself – so who does Bernanke work for) -?
On decimation of USA jobs, cities, middle class, etc., – if this is taken forward in time some – then the scenario may be: “Look at all the Americans gave up. Seems they just did not want it -(or at least that’s what they were convinced of by the propaganda and psychological wars waged against them). If they did, they would have fought as hard to keep their jobs, their land, cities, against endless wars (and crimes of empire), etc., as we did to take it from them…”.
And Dr. Roberts can evolve into a giraffe, for all I care. I take offense at his portrayal of Americans as scapegoats bearing his Friedman hide upon our backs.
In a survey of US hedge fund managers in July 2009, Moonraker found that 20 out of 22 were buying gold to protect their personal wealth for fear that the quantitative easing programmes being seen in the Anglo-Saxon economies would eventually result in a bout of excessive inflation.

sorry, believe the word is leviathanic
@Tamir – eh? where did you read that?
So most/all of the ills of the world are Israel’s fault? As an Israeli, I do not attempt to exonerate Israel of all guilt. But with all due respect, the argument that links global depression to Israel to the decline of the American economy is weak at best!
Its peeps who have crossed over to tis side after seein tee shear Lunacy of tee plan tat has helped us get a more clear understandin of wat we up against Otterwise we woulda been Still on Planet Oblivion

@Sherbert: WOW..a personal attack on dear ol’ Snoot…what has the world become…is it the Parisian Absenthe???or the Labdomum (sp?)???? or the wine? Maybe we are all looking at the world through rose colored glasses of sorts…the PTB..yes they are apparently meeting in Spain as I type,,may have us in their cross hairs…If all the aweful scenario depopulation techniques are let loose all at once,,,,well….I don’t see that, but a slow incrimantal digression as AJ seems to indicate is the slow boiling frog in a pot method…maybe it’s less painful??? I rather see the financial debacle as Max sees it….the controllers are finding time to impliment a new currency and a new banking dynasty that sits above the fray…and directs the players to cause whatever halucinogenic destruction that boggles the mind of the masses….be it war, flu epidemic, oil catalysm leaks, earthquakes ( HAARP caused??) or any other war provocation that solidiifes the mega military/security/corporate/banking elite…looking forward to the new OTE in America…should be a hoot
we seek information here. either dr. robert’s information is relevant or it is not. i find it to be spot on.
I have not indicated that I consider Europeans ‘evil’ any more than I consider Americans ‘good’, Stacy. I indicated that life is not one ole-sea voyage on the Moby Dickster with the leviathanical representation of evil vs. good played easily and readily for our harpoons.
If you subtitute “IMF/sovereign bank function” for America in your Testament to my indicatory stance, then you’ll perhaps come closer to that elusive quality you retain in the titular mark of your representations:
truth
I believe in redemption and evolution, and that experience and mistakes are more important than anything one can learn in a book or via an education; I take people as they are today, not for what they were yesterday, nor for what they might be tomorrow
@Phil/Germany. get back here. i know you love there fights.

I don’t know, Stacy. Why don’t I refer you to the man who had his Damascus Road experience after making his fortune with the Friedmanites and now doesn’t need to turn his coat but only blend in with all those who ‘see the light’ of the inferiority of those other Americans who had the misfortune of not complying with the Friedman/mazzarati lifestyle and now sit at home and tippy-type on comment boards seeing as Reaganomics destroyed their economic base and hopes for a future….
“In short, Americans are full of themselves.”
@Casper – I think snoot might be Old Testament (American edition) evangelical, which seems to go . . there is no such thing as evolution and certain people, mostly American, are divine . . . oh, and re: the American Edition of the Old Testament . . . well that was to correct the original text where they forgot to mention the existence of America or its divine inhabitants, god said unto the people that one day there would be a just and good empire that would rule upon the people of the world with love bombs that would send hundreds of thousands to a just and good heaven where they would pay for the sins of the divine American bankers who do not mean to do any harm, unlike their European counterparts who are evil and all powerful while pretending to have to submit to the will of America
@Snoot. like i said about remorse.
One could say the same of Soros, Studly.
But I took umbrage to his arrogant stance concerning people whom he seems to regard with utter contempt: his fellow Americans.
Does he sup with the gods?
The talking heads now are those who made their position and wealth through a use of neoliberal/speculative/ponzi activity and now declare that that which seeded their voice is an indication of the inferior state of those who ( I refer here to people who perhaps did not concede their integrity to reach such eagle-heights) are termed “ugly Americans”.
I say the ugly ones are the ones who participated in the criminal activities or maintained those ideologies with gusto.
@snoot – there is very little evidence that the peoples of any empire recognizes the hatred of the occupied toward them, whether the Soviet, British, French, Roman, Spanish, etc.; and there is a massive amount of evidence of the role of war in undermining the economic vitality of all of the above mentioned empires as well; again, can you please provide me with the historic, genetic and/or scientific evidence that Americans are somehow uniquely supreme evolved humans able to rule with benignly with their love bombs dropped from 30,000 feet in the air? thanks . . . . and how did Americans evolve to this higher state and yet American Paul Craig Roberts is not permitted to evolve from what he was many decades ago? are you the same person you were 20 or 30 years ago? has experience not altered your understanding of the world, or were you born with 100% perfectly understanding the world? thanks again for any insight you might provide
@Frances.. Does any of that change the import of his current ideas? Are you suggesting we reject his message outright because of his prior errors? If he was the sole source of these observations I might agree with you but I see merely that he is adding an elder voice to what many others have reported.
@Max
WHAT is up with the gangsta pinstipes? holy cow….i am suddenly worried that my business might burn down if i don’t pay protection money. haha.
Something has to be done about this scourge of anticementism
“Roberts: The American people are lost in la-la land. They have no idea that their civil liberties have been forfeited. They are only gradually learning that their economic future is compromised. They have little idea of the world’s growing hatred of Americans for their destruction of other peoples. In short, Americans are full of themselves. They have no idea of the disasters that their ignorance and inhumanity have brought upon themselves and upon the world.”
The father of Reaganomics writes this about the American people?
hahahahaha
HIs hatred for his fellow citizens must sell in Europe. But his is an attitude dependent on self-abrogation of his own complicity in the neo-liberal agenda and IMF crimes abroad during his tenure at the IMF (Treasury dept.).
“He served as an Assistant Secretary of the Treasury in the Reagan Administration earning fame as a co-founder of Reaganomics.”[1]
From 1975 to 1978, Roberts served on the congressional staff. As economic counsel to Congressman Jack Kemp[4] he drafted the Kemp-Roth bill (which became the Economic Recovery Tax Act of 1981) and played a leading role in developing bipartisan support for a supply-side economic policy.[3] His influential 1978 article for Harper’s,[5] while economic counsel to Senator Orrin Hatch,[6] had Wall Street Journal editor Robert L. Bartley give him an editorial slot, which he had until 1980.[7] He was a senior fellow in political economy at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, then part of Georgetown University.[4]
From early 1981 to January 1982 he served as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy. President Ronald Reagan and Treasury Secretary Donald Regan credited him with a major role in the Economic Recovery Tax Act of 1981, and he was awarded the Treasury Department’s Meritorious Service Award for “outstanding contributions to the formulation of United States economic policy.”[3] Roberts resigned in January 1982 to become the first occupant of the William E. Simon Chair for Economic Policy at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, then part of Georgetown University.[8] He held this position until 1993. He went on to write The Supply-Side Revolution (1984), in which he explained the reformulation of macroeconomic theory and policy that he had helped to create.
He was Distinguished Fellow at the Cato Institute from 1993 to 1996. He was a Senior Research Fellow at the Hoover Institution.”
