S&P ‘fat finger’ strips Germany of AAA rating and SEC associate director joins HFT

Stacy Summary: Lots of fat fingers out there in our hyperactive digitally interlocked world. I love that despite S&P accidentally downgrading Germany the yields improved! Speaking of high frequency trading, Elizabeth King, an SEC associate director joins GETCO, who, along with Goldman Sachs, are a major SLP (see today’s On the Edge).

Is a kiss worth jail + 90 lashes?
They know it is banned, yet they still don’t let that fact cut any ice with their love life, or passions!

A Saudi court has convicted a man and sentenced him to four months in prison and 90 lashes for kissing a woman in a mall.

The government-owned daily Al-Yom reported on Thursday that Saudi religious police arrested the man and two women after they were seen on mall cameras “engaging in immoral movements in front of other shoppers.”

The report says the man, who is in his 20s, was seen with a woman “sitting on one of the chairs, exchanging kisses and hugs.” It’s unclear what the other woman was doing.

The kingdom enforces a strict interpretation of Islam, which bans unrelated men and women from mingling.

  5. @Mother – throwing a rock these days gets you gunned down by empire’s ak-47 and more than half of the population will cheer and celebrate the right of those soldiers to gun you down in response to your throwing a rock . . . “you deserved it” they will say

unfortunately we won’t see any solidarity amungst the slaves until half of them are gunned down by the man, then we will have our public outcry and reforms, i believe this has already been planned. it’s all in the timing, bail-out broke banks 1st, then roll out austerity for the bailers (tax-payers).
where were all these austerity fans when the tax-payers were nationalizing the debts of the failed banks?

    @ bonn
maybe the queen of england can help modernize the king of saudi arabia, haha, they’d make a cute couple
seriously, this gulf ‘spill’ fiasco is great for the kingdom of saud, they need oil to be at 150$ a barrel in order to buy off their subjects, most of which are on the dole, wonder if any of these austereity fans think the saudi royal family shoul cut back the stipen of the 10,000 princes?
heck, at least the kingdom offers health care to its subjects, free i believe

Is Elizabeth King married? Maybe one of the Madoffs could use a new spouse. Ms. King’s move to GETCO appears to be in the tradition epitomized by Eric Swanson’s move from SEC investigator of the Madoff firm to spouse of Shana Madoff, the firm’s compliance officer. He is also on the staff of BATS but is not based at the company’s headquarters. One may assume his job is geared toward wielding influence in Wash DC and therefore he is more comfortable living at his home in CT.

    That man deserves some attention.

    @Y’all:

Stoning is a poor form of social justice.

“Victims of lynching have generally been members of groups marginalized or vilified by society. The practice is age-old; stoning, for example, is believed to have started long before lapidation was adopted as a judicial form of execution.”

Why are we vilifying bankers? The movement to do so has big money behind it. Useful idiots make fine lynching parties.

  11. frances snoot

The new multilateral exchange system will not retain banking as a form of liquidity access. Those who indicate that usury is ‘sinful’ are forwarding a Keynesian form of liquidity managed by a tyrannical state. Villifying the bankers is part of Act 2 in the antidisestablismentarianism scenerio.

The old system of apartheid (color was not allowed liquidity) is rolling over into a new system of apartheid where only those with birth/position retain liquidity access.

How quickly the slow of brain run to tear down that which protects their very freedom.

  12. The Art of Financial War! Germany (Merckle) declare a debt moratorium. Pour Marks into social projects. Tell the financiers to go “Fuck Selbst”! You get paid last (If at all.)
