Stacy Summary: This is genius!!!
“No doubt I committed errors,” he wrote. “I overrode the usual methods, loaded false data to disguise gains, as well as losses. In a word, I pushed the system to its limit… But [what] was happening around me? [A] giant fraud perpetrated by all the trading floors in the world. To get good results, any tricks were permitted. The golden rule of the banking culture was simple: if you win, you are in the right; if you lose you are wrong and you’re out.”

Stacy Summary: Twenty six years later, seven prison sentences have been handed down in the Bhopal case. Wonder if it will take 25 years and 10 months for residents of Louisiana to start to receive ‘justice,’ if that’s what you can call this.

Stacy Summary: Deutsche Bank being investigated for role in alleged credit derivatives manipulation. I don’t think the SFO has ever been able to successfully investigate a single major bank or hedge fund. Stacy Summary: Bizarre story. Ras al-Khaimah overlooks the Straits of Hormuz and is major oil producer. Abu Dhabi, of course, has the world’s largest sovereign wealth fund. The Emirate is crawling with American lobbyists, ‘lobbyists’ and other ‘private equity’ sort of guys, while the Brits had to settle for control of Dubai. Interesting cast of characters here with the same old story (if slightly more bizarre and exaggerated in their claims) they always sell the media on these sort of coups (connected to terrorism if they are Muslim; Marxist dictators if they are Latin American) . . . Main players in this coup

Stacy Summary: Wow, I’m beginning to see a trend. Sounds like the aggressively anti-gay evangelicals who are all, in fact, gay and mostly hailing from the same states below. And, looking from the outside, I bet if I asked most Brits or Europeans in which US states, based only on what you see as presented by popular outrage, are you most likely to see the most number of government employees, you’d probably guess Massachusetts or California or Vermont or Connecticut or some other ‘commie, socialist’ state like that . . .

Stacy Summary: Great summary by Reggie Middleton on the truth about mark to market. Regulators (sic) are just so much more powerful than bankers, aren’t they?
