Stacy Summary: Please note that the ‘euro will be dead’ prediction comes from ‘leading economists’ and we all know how well their predictions on the forever bubble went; regardless, the second NYTimes article goes a bit further in explaining what is happening with our financial systems. There is too much debt. It is mathematically impossible to pay these debts and, so, like all Minsky moments, nobody wants to be left holding the bad debt parcel. The liquidity crisis is caused by the solvency crisis.
**UPDATE**:

Stacy Summary: ** UPDATE ** – The ECB has only 77 billion euros in reserve and . . . Rumors of more derivatives losses at Societe Generale drag shares down up to 6%. The continuing and controlled demolition of every last penny of savings, whether in your pension account or your savings account, continues. These ‘losses’ will not stop until, as was discussed in the latest Keiser Report interview with Edward Harrison, the people say they have had enough of paying 100 cents on the dollar on these fraudulent derivatives.

Stacy Summary: Too bad the US government is the same Big Business that caused the disaster and that, even with their high tech equipment (golf balls, tires and saws) is unable to fix the problem they created.
In coastal Mississippi, Republican state Rep. Steven Palazzo has been critical of the federal government, including what he sees as an intrusive role in a health care overhaul that he – like many conservatives – calls “Obamacare.”
As he runs for Congress in a district that relies on shipbuilding, tourism and the seafood industry, Palazzo says Washington should do all it can to protect the Gulf of Mexico. He said his stance does not contradict his advocacy of limited government.
“This is not only an economic nightmare but it’s an ecological one as well,” Palazzo said. “We cannot spare any resource.”

Stacy Summary: Well, you have savers vs speculators and you have speculators vs speculators. This is a bit of both. Looks like investors/lenders are trying to secure the collateral that allegedly backs the $600 trillion in debts they ‘own,’ while debtors are trying to escape the debts they ‘owe.’
