Stacy Summary: Wow, sure it was truly awful legislation, even worse than health care ‘reform’ or financial ‘reform’ bills, designed to enrich a select few while doing nothing to solve the problem, but this is totally shocking . . . the most powerful man in the universe, Al Gore, who controls every step that Congress and Wall Street takes, who can smite the House of Saud/House of Bush with a single bound, who can bend almost every scientist to his evil will, FAILED to get pass carbon caps in the new energy bill????
It seems unbelievable that someone so powerful over a Congress so corrupt and operating in the interests of the powerful could have been thwarted, but it really appears as if the little guys, i.e., Exxon, BP, Cheney and Massey Energy, won this round.
Two cheeers for the little guy: Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray!
Two minutes of hate for Al Gore:

ME
The big picture is that the temperatures only increased by 1 degree over the last 150 years, after coming out of a small ice age
Going back over 10,000 the temperatures were around 10 degrees colder. There’s something wrong with many people today. We have a great climate and have benefited massively from oil and coal. Yet people like you are living in fear of CO2, an essential gas for life on earth
Start to worry if temperatures keep falling, but at a faster rate, as a few scientists are predicting over the next 10 years.
“Humanity is now, suddenly, over the course of one hundred years, raising global average temperatures by 4 to 6 degrees”
WTF? Warming anomaly since 1900 is about 0.7 or 0.8 degrees C… (or about 1.2 degrees fahrenheit).
http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/graphs/
Lets talk big picture for a second. Humanity is now, suddenly, over the course of one hundred years, raising global average temperatures by 4 to 6 degrees (4 degrees estimated this century). This is having several effects: droughts, floods, forest fires, melting poles, melting methane hydrates escaping from the seabed. Reduced oceanic oxygen causing dead zones.
This has happened before. 251.4 Million years ago, at the end of the Permian. Vulcanic eruptions in Siberia covered an area of 7 million square kilometers of land with lava. It also ran into the shallow waters of the continent that then had a different shape, it melted and released methane hydrates in the shallow continental shelves. This riased global temperatures by an average of 6 degrees. It stopped the movement of ocean water, because the temperature differential between the poles and the equator dissapeared. Oxygen was reduced in the atmosphere as well.
Life disappeared. All but most that is, 96% of ocean life (because the oxygen was depleted, the ocean became stale water). 86% or so of land animals disappeared. Even most insects died. That period is known as the ‘Great Dying’ as it was the biggest extinction event in our planets history. It took 500.000 years for any stable life forms to reappear, which might be considered a miracle.
We have republicans and democrats bickering over a climate bill. What we should worry about is arresting the temperature increase and preventing a similar ‘methane burp’ to occure (which is staring now around the poles and on the melting tundra’s, all methane release). Perhaps it is still possible.
Max fought the box office futures contracts to save hollywood and their toxic output. But now hes promoting a scheme than can be manipulated by the insiders. Love your body of work Max and Stacy you guys are definitely helping to educate us all. I reserve the right to disagree with your (the bankers and insiders) solution to the problems of pollution. Can we not be given more than one solution to debate about. It is to simplistic to say carbon tax good, no carbon tax bad and look at solutions that go to the heart of the problem. Greed corruption and the central bank system that requires constant growth to disguise the fact that a large part of of the wealth created released by raping the planet and industrialization goes towards consolidating their power. Benevolent dictators are better than a popularity contest for the next puppet, but the people behind the curtain and the power they already use has not been for the greater good. They are not benevolent and to give them more power would be counter productive and not lead to saving our home the earth.
I remember as a child in school we were told we were heading for an ice age.
With a cap and trade policy, the big polluters get free credits and the little people will have to buy theirs. Sounds like a fair system if you have power and influence and a shake down for us little people.
(Sigh)… social/psychological criticisms of “deniers” as a way to support the establishment scientific position = weak shit. People hate Gore ’cause he’s a seat-warming shill. Hatred is a natural reaction, and yes it’s being taken advantage of. Let’s move on from this distracting angle.
I’d love to hear Stacy & Max actually talk about issues specifically relating to the coercive manipulation of the science market. Here are two beginner-level examples:
- temperature measuring stations sited in parking lots, etc. Urban heat used to manipulate average temperature data.
- info included in AR4 (the IPCC’s fourth assessment report) that was known to be false, not fact checked, (e.g. Himalayan glaciers). They got the nobel prize for AR4, remember.
Personally, I believe AGW is a real factor, but that it’s being exaggerated, and the science is being retroactively engineered after the desired “conclusions”. This is a real problem — not just because of the proposed carbon-trading solution — but because it creates divisions in environmental and activist communities, and distracts people from more immediate environmental crimes.
…After Max’s ridiculous rant about Al Gore being a contemporary Copernicus [sic] in the NZ TAM show (14 July), it sounds like it’ll be very hard for M&S to change tack on this if they ever start to question their faith.
@PaulH from Scotland,
You write “A personal question, if I may: what sustains you and gives you hope whilst having this knowledge of what probably lies ahead? ”
Very good question for a discussion. When I woke up to the “truth” (which keeps changing) I found I was terribly out of shape and depressed because I sensed something was very wrong but would not listen to my instincts. So, what seems to sustain me is I am going within to strength and rely on myself the best that is possible. I am slow at this but still it is a goal that keeps my mind working with the terrible destruction all around. I realize the entire system is broken. All of it.
Soon I will be moving. I do not know where, which puts a great deal of pressure on me because I have an urgency to dig in and start getting stronger inside and out. I am a mess now, but I am my mess. Even though weakened, I can go out fighting. I must deal with the “fear” that is being thrown all about. “Fear” is a powerful weapon.
For me I have a great need for truth. Truth can break your heart, but it is refreshing. People use words like “conspiracy theorists” to keep people from seeking the truth, but that is because they are weak minded.
So, PaulH from Scotland. There are like minded people that know the times a head will be very difficult. So you are not alone. I would like to visualize a better outcome then the one they plan for us. I do believe we are very powerful and that is what scares them. Once we realize and use our power they will fail.
LOL… you go girl!
It takes citizens to have a society.
If pollution were illegal aliens would we be able to write or pass laws anyone would enforce? Seems these days it’s all about the lie, an era of no transparency, in an age of limitless digital storage.
If there was a mark we missed it by a long shot.
People are so busy looking the other way they forget to do their job.

LV Review-Journal may be violating law with selective copyright suits
May 07, 2010 1:21 pm ET by Joe Strupp-The Las Vegas Review-Journal could be violating federal campaign finance laws by suing a number of advocacy organizations, companies and individuals over copyright infringement, while letting at least one conservative candidate for office use similar material, according to experts. Since March, a company known as Righthaven LLC, which has the copyright protection for Review-Journal content, has filed several lawsuits against progressive and liberal groups, including the Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada and the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.

Linking
Might it be a violation just to link to a web page? That’s not a myth, it’s undecided, but I have written some discussion of linking rights issues.

I agree with Stacy- it is too late.
Arguing about a carbon tax or “saving” the environment is “like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.” It will make things look nicer for a very short time before we all go down. No, I am not pessimistic, just realistic. The time to have taken action was the 1970s and ’80s.
The damage has already been done to the environment and the planet’s population has doubled (or close). All we can do is try to mitigate what we can, and prepare for a vastly different future- one which will not be nearly as “user friendly” as the previous centuries. The era of cheap energy from petroleum is over, whether we like it or not, and this changes everything. Climate change will happen, whether or not it is man made; the Earth goes through cycles. Mass starvation will happen, caused both by the finance masters, overpopulation and environmental damage.
Rather than a rigid police state, there will be chaos and devolution to smaller entities in the US (states or local regions). Just as Rome could not hold its empire together, we will not be able to hold ours together (I can but hope- seceding from Wash. DC would not hurt this Californian’s feelings one bit.) Our infrastructure is just too fragile to hold together for too much longer.
Remember, denial is not just a river in Eygpt.

Lets imagine that there is a carbon tax, all industry/people has to pay for their quota of carbon emission each year.
Who gets the money?
Who decides how that money is going to be used?
Who has the job of priorities where to clean up pollution first – if that is what the money is going to be spent on?
Would the money go back to the very factory that is polluting in order to change or clean up dirty equipment or production methods, to get rid of the very source pollution comes from?
Would the money be spent on research and would the research result and inventions be given free to the public and business, free of any copyrights for all to benefit from?

Al Gore continues to get caught with his pants down. Since it only took two (now four) DC massage-girls to break up his marriage, surely he knows that his (oh-so-private) “Carbon-investment” -schemes aren’t remotely likely to bring him any real cash, despite the $Billions his handlers will receive.

I always wondered how they were going to make the SIVs go away … magically.
Good article … on SDRs, SIVs, BIS, and of course Gold, the real Bankster’s money.
Oh, I might as well have a bash at an AGW thread lol.
In Australia the Emission Trading Scheme has been put on the backburner (pun intended). The way I see it is we dodged a bullet as it is just a new tax and the bankers get their commission on the carbon trading. In some ways probably more expensive to the consumer than a straight out carbon tax although govt bureaucracy would grow with that too. I actually thought green tech would be a thing the deposed Rudd govt would have supported and brung in (deposed by his own party). Instead we got a silly insulation scheme putting pink batts in roofs that I’m sure haven’t made the power stations slow their turbines one bit, much the same as Earth Day. Govt interference caused all sorts of dodgy operators with the result some installers were electrocuted from dodgy ceiling installation becuase there was a rush to cash in. The solar panel subsidy was actually stopped under their govt and all the ‘green’ grants were reset when the change of govt came in and had to start the application process all over again.
It was then I realised I’d been had. Coal is too big an industry in Australia for govt to look at doing anything on their watch to affect it. I’m sure the coal/power companies wouldn’t give a toss if they had to charge more to a captive audience and I’m not sure where the innovation was supposed to come from for green industries as mfg in Australia has been destroyed. The only innovation we really have is medical or mining related. So we get taxed more, they’ll put a few windmills and solar around the place that will never provide baseload power. The only thing that can replace coal or gas here on a big scale is nuclear and I’m not a fan. Geothermal is another filler/option but our main store of hotrocks is in the middle of the desert and I think I read it was about 10% loss of power before it got to the grid. That’s if they can get it working ( must read up on it, I’m a bit behind on progress of late).
Australia could definitely get off oil as, like the US we are a net importer these days. We could have gas, electric cars (although the grid we’d plug into is mainly coal anyway, so use of coal in power stations would increase). Hydrogen is also another option however the hydrogen needs to be split from oil so that’s just a more expensive option to fossil fuels although there is progress on getting it from cleaner sources.
I used to visit a science forum and i’ve speen my fair share of ‘is global warming real?’ threads so I’ll leave that debate to others. I have no qualms with Al Gore, he just doesn’t sit on my radar of people to yell hate at, although he is a pretty big target on the radar these days-one of those donut eating Americans Max talks about lol.
My own gut unscientific hunch is that a large amount of the data obtained from meteorological data is distorted due to the urban heat island effect.
just remember no matter how advanced a computer – its conclusions can be distorted very easily by just small changes in basic data.
The disadvantage of these advanced computers is that it gives scientists the fodder to engage in wild speculations many steps removed from reality – this may explain the lack of applied science coming from quantum mechanics and other complex science for at least 50 years.
It is ok to start from a premise as this is indeed a component of the scientific method but there is only a few steps you can take from the data before the likelyhood of you getting lost becomes very high.
Guest Post: Gold Swap Signals the Roadmap Ahead
… The arrogance and lack of public accountability of the entire banking industry blatantly demonstrates why gold manipulation, which came to the fore in recent CFTC hearings, has been able to operate so effectively for so long. Take their quadrillions and use that to bring Africa to Western levels so the population will go down automaticaly. Invest the rest of the money in a world wide sun based energy grid and cleaner coal burning so that we can use the oil for durable goodies.

What is the purpose of carbon controls?
Power, Control, Money for the elites. EXTORTION
As the current fiat system collapses carbon becomes the basis of the new scheme..
Where will they find all of the ‘useful idiots’
How is it we need to talk about ‘solutions to climate change’ while we know exactly what they would be, and we want non of it (for instance: cutting power lines, abandoning air travel, going offline). Mother Oil
I read the Bible and have yet to see where burning fossil fuels is a sin. I have seen plenty that condemns our money and banking system. Environmental damage is merely a symptom of the government backed counterfeiting cartels.
@ Stacy, No one would argue against a cleaner more sustainable system for supporting all life forms on this planet. Where we disagree is the methodology used to get there. A carbon tax like any other tax would be a source of revenue and power for those who control it. The people with the purse strings wont be accountable to the people that pay the tax. The bigger the scheme the less accountability to the general populous. A prime example would be European parliament and the fraud and waste created with this institution. A grand concept but a wasteful failure none the less.
The carbon taxes proposed in Australia give massive free credits to the big polluters these companies get a free ride, why because the government can be lobbied and bought. I am sure that would be the case world wide if history is any indication.
The best and brightest engineers and scientists ( perhaps not morally sound) are used to support the American Military Industrial Complex. What a waste of talent and resources and opportunity for America and the unmeasurable murder and mayhem for anyone that lives on in a country that has something the US wants.
Hows this for a proposition we redeploy 3/4 of these brightest minds for the benefit of all of mankind and for profit earnt and not stolen for Americans.
Just imagine an America that sells its green innovations to the world and not their planes bombs and dodgy currency.
We know now that the constant need for growth in our economies just to stand still is to feed the interest charged by the central banks. Compound growth in an infinite planet is not sustainable. Its a flawed model that benefits the few and depletes the ability of our planet to support life for all. Instead of a band aid like carbon tax how about we get our best minds to work on an alternative solution. Destroy the need for an economy to constantly grow to support its people.
I am not one of the worlds brightest and can not solve the worlds problems. But I am smart enough to see that a carbon tax is not the only and far from the best solution to our problems. We are only presented with this one option? We are we looking at the symptoms and not the cause? There are so many incredible intelligent and lateral thinkers being used to think of ways to expand empire and kill people. Is this not allocated capital? Could you imagine the world we live in right now if the money spent working out ways to kill people was used to improve the lives off all.

@Mother – so you’re advocating going cold turkey? W. did say we were ‘addicted’ to oil and the only way to break an addiction is to stop it completely?
Gore owns massive stakes in Occidental Petroleum. His family made their fortune off coal and oil.
He was caught pimping for Occidental in Kazakhstan in 1996 and in Colombia in 1998, moving people off their indigenous land to put in a pipeline.
He’s a fraud. Max needs to get off this global warming thing. That’s not the same as general environmental destruction. And Gore IS worthy of 3 minutes of hate. Mainly for his hypocrisy.
How is it that you can make a realistic movie set in a real environment and show how a drugdealer is shot in the head, yet you can’t say ‘Shoot a drugdealer in the head’ ?

Until we do the things people really don’t want us to do we are waiting for things to happen that people really don’t want to happen. Which will it be?
@Sherbert and @Tom: very out spoken both of you…But you really have to think out of the box…we are about to enter an entire new era of language and currency and taxation modes…the language we are speaking in will be replaced with SDR’s and Carbon taxes and credits as a funding source…with the click of a mouse and a keystroke wahlah!!!….and why? well remember what Max said on the AJ show the other day: “Americans have a short term memory retention…they cannot put two words together and remember them” so, farewell the ‘dollar reserve currency’ and onto the SDR and another virtual world taxing scheme: ‘carbon taxes and credits’…No, I don’t like the future manipulation any more than either of you…BUT frankly I prefer they tax derivatives ( TOBIN TAX ) and methane and indict the banksters for creating SIVs without the written consent of the original mortgagors( the true cause of the financial crash of 2008 )…I have wondered for a very long time if in fact this third rock from the sun was originally a methane based planet and one day we will return to yesteryear and the atmosphere will once again be methane filled…maybe that’s why all the gurus and avatars have long said: ‘life is impermanent and temporary’..best of today and Stacy keep having those sweets in Paris…I loved the crepes I found on Blvd. St Germaine in 1971…

Of cause it’s not solely about Capo AL but he became the symbol of the CO2 Hoax with his scammed Walt Disney presentation in which the graph of CO2 output was slided back in time so that it looked that the CO2 came before earths warming which is a lie and always comes after the earth has warmed up. Climategate made that very clear. Also a warming bump was removed and extreme algorithmic graphs were fabricated to make it look like a dramatic hockey stick, I know Max likes that but it’s faulty.
Furthemore the IPCC closed down rural temp measurement posts and only used temp data from temp measuring stations near or in cities to get the highest temps as possible but even than they couldn’t produce the warming graph since the earth has been cooling after 1995 which the IPCC admitted so they had to fuzzle the numbers to hide the decline.
When you take into account that before 2005 all planets in our solar system were warming up you know you got a genuine scamster on your hand and the members of the IPCC admitted that.
The head of the IPCC Rajendra Pachauri our Raspoetin http://tinyurl.com/2uwq3wl is the greatest crook of them all. He makes millions in shutting down factories in the West and putting them up in India again. They guy couldn’t care less about the environment or CO2.
But if you wonna stay willfully ignorant……your bet.
Why shouldn’t people have distain for Al Gore. He says that he invented the Internet and made an alarmist climate change film that was peddled in UK schools and ruled in court to have around 9 factual errors. Perhaps blokes have a downer on him cause the chicks seem to like him
@In the End @Palantír – that’s because even mentioning anything to do with carbon, oil, global warming, climate change, triggers google alerts to the paid shriekers who promptly fly over to the site and shriek their script of hate about Al Gore and carbon trading and then never appear again on the site; they’re shrieking accusations at me are then taken as being my positions by others reading the site; but it’s a bad economy and people have to do what they have to do to get by; my feeling is that the paid shriekers also drown out the unpaid skeptics of climate change, but the point is that no discussion happen at all

@Stacy
i am under the impression that everyone here thinks you are for the carbon markets. lol. re gore: personally, i haven’t thought more than what i have posted here re who and what he is. that is about…1 minute. i really don’t think anyone…really thinks about him. the strength of revulsion may be that people just REALLY want him to go away. re hate – you had a lot of HATE in your words re gm, seeds…or why else do you emphasize it so??
@In the End – the HATE I refer to is not mine, it is the rabid crowd that focuses on one person who is just one tiny individual that will eventually die as all humans do and yet the system and problem will remain; and where oh where have you heard me advocate the carbon market? I have referred to it as a fraud since it was first introduced in Europe and all the leaders handed the monopolists free credits which saw them rake in billions
@Bonn
you are going to teach me how to misspell words. that is the problem with reading your comments for me!
Hi Stacy.Given the power of Max and your good self do you not think that this particular story deserves at least two On the Edge programs or at least a special ,after all this is the biggest scam in history
@Stacy,
Good afternoon dear, but you are just wrong on the CO2 issue (pun intended).
How can one be green
and yet to plants be mean?
They simply cannot do
without their CO2.
So please do not not be blind
to the needs of all plant kind
Dear, it is this simple: The rich got rich by raping the planet via fractional reserve financing and now wish to prevent the poor from doing the same. It is projected guilt. The problem is not CO2 or a better life for the poor but the government backed counterfeiting cartel that finances war, environmental destruction and other evils.
Forests like dat C02
Thank you Al Gore for working so hard to try to save all of our families, even those of your critics, who are paid to lie.
I only trust Al Gore. I want Al Gore in charge of the Gulf oil spill, now! If this is even fixable, he is our only chance.
I do not want British Petroleum nor Cheney’s Haliburton in charge at all, if the following is true. If it is not true, well, Congress needs to find out fast….and put Al Gore in charge of trying to save all life of this planet.
http://www.helium.com/items/1882339-how-bp-gulf-disaster-may-have-triggered-a-world-killing-event
The warning signs of an impending planetary catastrophe—of such great magnitude that the human mind has difficulty grasping it-would be the appearance of large fissures or rifts splitting open the ocean floor, a rise in the elevation of the seabed, and the massive venting of methane and other gases into the surrounding water. Such occurrences can lead to the rupture of the methane bubble containment—it can then permit the methane to breach the subterranean depths and undergo an explosive decompression as it catapults into the Gulf waters.
…..
Put Al Gore in charge. If the following is true, the bankers and oil guys, have ruined more than the economic system.
http://preventdisease.com/news/10/070810_gulf_crisis_planned.shtml
30 Facts Evidencing that The Gulf Oil Crisis Was Planned
The following are 30 facts explaining what is really happening in the Gulf of Mexico, who is really responsible for the explosion, and how the devastation serves investment bankers. These globalists sway stocks, create markets, and planned this crisis, among a series of catastrophes, to advance geopolitical and financial agendas. 1) The media is grossly censoring the extent of the devastation in the Gulf. The poisons–oil and chemical dispersant (Corexit)–are destined to spread globally, but honest reporting is restricted, and independent investigators are being arrested. This censorship is a sure sign of fascism–not freedom or democracy. In this way, the media, financially directed by leading investment bankers (cited below), accomplices this global poisoning, or omnicide.
Gore had the misfortune of getting stuck with that name – too easy to slide over into its definition – “murder, bloodshed, violence.”
Is there any effect of that definition on the thoughts of other people (unconsciously)? Is there any effect of that definition on his own mind (unconsciously..of course)?
@ Stacy
I want to add one important concept for consideration. All the HATE for existing systems that you have. Realize those were introduced in the past. That is, I can imagine a “Stacy of 2050″ looking at the existing carbon markets and HATING those as well. That is what I imagine. These large models, these disruptive models originating from an elite, benefit the elite. It was that way with the past models (that you HATE) and I suspect it will be similar for you in the future. Just my guess.
Cincitucky – my god that link really is sick, I was just going to eat as well. Now I feel like puking.
There was a massive debate re CC on the BBC blogs around Christmas with some heavy hitters on both sides. I came to a few firm conclusions on a few things – we need to stop chopping down trees and we need to stop using oil. I think the infrastructure for alternative power – electric/fuel-cell is way off and outside our life times. Think significant change will come with nuclear fusion .

@ Stacy – (see my above post, as a response) – thanks!
* re gm – why no hate bc (easily) people are (a) not aware of the problem, (b) the extent of the problem
* re seed supply and all associated issues – same as above
* re gore – my theory is that this is expressive (and in some ways the above) of complexity. people need a focus. people need a simple narrative. people don’t like him (unattractive personality – he’s just not beautiful..lol). people suspect that he is doing this to line his pockets (or suspicious enough to call the motivation into question).
much of this is the past. i was writing in pretext to the issues of the future. sadly the argument breaksdown bc there are too many issues if considering multiple systems and asking to interpolate between the systems. (personally, i am not equipped to examine the issues you raised)
but focusing on one thing: re future and “automating systems”, there will be unintended consequences, people will be duped and overrun by the complexity…all people this time and not just the developing world.
please understand re gm, people DO NOT have the information available to them (such that they have not associated with it in some form). i am a data hog and i know next-to-nothing. i am not faulting anyone; it is just the obvious.
stacey, hearing you speak on , I think , on the edge, about hating al gore, there is a very good reason. He portrayed himself as an altruistic crusader within the context of a global problem which has turned out to be a LARGE LIE THAT HE HAS MADE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS, FRANCS AND YEN OFF OF. and now he wishes to enslave us with a carbon tax to a worldwide central bank…. excuse me but screw him
Instead of sarcasm about watching corruption fighting against corruption in order to screw over the little guy, why don’t you introduce some online gambling that allows little guys to bet on the outcome of government shams… before we get screwed. You know, something along the lines of a last rites.

@In the End – the ultimate tyranny is already here; it arrived from the introduction of a fiat currency as the world’s reserve currency and then expanded via such things as financial ‘deregulation’ and patents; and, by the way, I am very, very, very, very, very curious to know why all those freaking out about a carbon tax and the carbon scam have almost ZERO to say on the fact that Monsanto and Syngenta own patents on our FOOD supply; over 90% of Americans eat genetically modified foods and if you are eating gm food you ARE paying the MAN that tax you so fear as a hypothetical in the ‘carbon scam’ . . . so, why no hate for those controlling and taxing the food supply right now, today, in reality, not as a hypothetical? and if no hate there, then why do they have so much hate for a bloated rich man with no real power like Gore (if he had power, surely, he could have made the Supreme Court decide in his favor)? Who is directing all of their energy into one person? Qui bono? And because they do not exhibit any of the same passion or concern for the very same model on the global food supply, I believe many of these people who hate Al Gore must be an unwitting mob for someone.
laying in wait ,helter skelter . .the shared visions of sociopaths charismatics ,gore soros clinton obama bush nixon blair reagun manson etc etc. not sincere emotional spiritual frauds
@ Stacy
ok. so you think there are alternatives and we need to be driven to those alternatives. i don’t fault that line of thinking. drive the price of gas to $10/gal will necessitate invention, innovation. i can accept that flow of logic, generally.
but i am damn sure that those who are seeking out these controls…by assigning everything a “carbon position” is going to create massive unintended consequences. (perhaps i am the glass half-empty guy).
i just think you are opening a pandora’s box, opening a position of ultimate tyranny that may ensue before we ever get to that world of massive “innovative” energy sources. basically, some of the science will work itself out and present itself (and soon, ie solar etc). but i don’t have the faith that we can understand the complexity to produce the massive innovation in time to offset the increasing capture/enclosure of those seeking to “control” and dictate.
i think it could take a “network effect” position and could freeze out innovation before real innovation launches. just look at all the automating models – they all dictate to “winner takes all effects.” these people see this…ie why they want to see it realized. that is partially what i see.
(thanks – i appreciate your thoughtful response…)
@In the End – the ‘problem’ and the ‘solution’ (or how we address the problem anyway) are two different things; on the one hand you have the matter of carbon dioxide and methane emissions (as well as deforestation in terms of not being available to absorb co2); the issue is one of simple physics within a complex system; just as cells and individual strands of dna may be simple to understand, for example, within the complexity of the human body, we have no way of predicting outcomes
on the other side of the equation is how we deal with it, if at all (and my opinion has always been that nothing will be done until it is too late as it was with the financial system, the cockpit door, the levy in New Orleans, etc.); this is a big discussion to have (if it were ever had) and there will no obvious ‘right’ answer and, indeed, there will always be someone there to scam and defraud; we all need to eat, for example, and this is a fact that is irrefutable it is a basic human reality that needs to be addressed every single day; and yet Anthony Ward and George Soros are buying up swathes of land in Africa and cornering markets in some ag products, does this make the fact that we need to eat an elaborate scam? Can I stop worrying about what I am going to eat for dinner tonight? Or tomorrow? Or the day after?
As people seek alternative sources of food when the price of what they normally eat rises, so too carbon is just one source of energy; there are no doubt thousands of other sources we could use; there are probably even more options on how we could (re)design transport and/or our infrastructure of living . . . so if the grand plan of the masters of the universe is to freeze us in time with this one energy source and then tax us on that energy (note that 80% of what Europeans pay at the pump is tax) to keep us feudal peasants . . . doesn’t make sense to me because the price always dictates supply and demand in a market economy and drives innovation and so alternatives will be found eventually. And why would they create this elaborate con when they already own us through our debt based currencies?
The normal course of history is that the status quo remains until the system collapses. I don’t see any outcome in this case that would be any different. And to your question Paul H, food and water sustain me. I don’t fear for the future of the environment. The environment will collapse for us, sure, but every ending is a new beginning. At least for the next billion or two years before the expanding Sun and the third rock from it begin the inevitable collision course toward the Sun’s big kaboom.

Bob Chapman’s analysis is probably pretty close to the truth, which makes for thoroughly depressing reading.
The cards are well and truly stacked against Joe Public – and his children and grandchildren. TPTB have strategized well and are executing almost flawlessly.
For the life of me, I genuinely can’t understand why Max and Stacey can’t see the carbon scam for what it is.
A personal question, if I may: what sustains you and gives you hope whilst having this knowledge of what probably lies ahead?
I’m struggling to get my head around all this and stay sane (my happily ignorant friends and family think I’m nuts to concern myself with all this stuff).
Bonn has his whisky; been there, done that. (No dispespect intended Bonn).
I’d genuinely appreciate tips from anyone who’s gotten through the darkness that all this knowledge brings. Thanks.

@ Stacy
It would be interesting to hear you articulate your position. Not representation of your position. But an explanatory response that fills in some gaps…gaping holes. I fear that you are on the wrong side of this position.
How do you justify giving “more power” over to other interests (ie, the gaping hole). After all the chicanery, broken promises, deception…I would think you (YOU) would lose interest in (again) taking a position to delegate autonomy to another outside, peripheral, loosely-associated, foreign…entity.
This is not an indictment…and perhaps I am missing something here. To be honest, I just feel the smarter someone is the more desirous that person is for self-control, self-direction…or more control from “potential tyranny.” (Hence, I believe you be very smart – my 2 cents).
Am I wrong? Perhaps I am skeptical. But I do not think these people who deal with “big models” have the “every person” in mind, when considering their models. The models are > than the individual. I do not think assigning “carbon positions” to a global system will be a win for freedom, individual expression. Count me as someone that would rather see the world blow-up then be stuck in a highly automated, controlled environment at the whims of “mad men.” Am I missing something?
@Joe9083 – we’re interviewing him in next 10 days
@Bonn. i built epoxy molds to make money. dying to live.
I don’t get this “carbon caps” deal, ignoring that this is a US only bill – it could easily have been a Europe bill, I just don’t see what help there is in making carbon a casino trade profession.
“cap-and-trade plan, in which companies would buy and sell pollution rights” how does that help?
Has Carbon dioxide (CO2) become Carbon (C) now?
Has Carbon (C) become the same as pollution now?
Something is wrong with this stuff.
Yes impure carbon – soot – is pollution, but why accept pollution with trading quotas?
Having people buying the right to pollute so and so many tons of various polluted materials do not seem like a good deal for both humans and mother earth.
But I’m sure the money masters will love the idea.

“Carbon credits will be used in lieu of gold, oil or any other tangible physical asset. After all, carbon credits are the ultimate when it comes to creating a new fiat valued asset or commodity. The Illuminists can make these carbon credits appear out of thin air just as they do with our Federal Reserve Notes based on totally subjective and politically controlled standards that will be used to bring profits and financial benefits to Illuminist cronies… At the same time these carbon credits will be used to destroy Illuminist enemies and to control their serfs.”
