  3. Alex Jones is a scare monger and a profiteer from scare mongery. In a way he’s actually a part of the very problems he purports to be trying to expose. He profits from spreading fear and the terrified populus are lapping it up. I’m not saying he’s wrong. It’s a no-brainer really. Of course those in power seek to get more power. Of course they seek to control and increase there power. It’s never been any different. Where’s the surpise? The key is to transcend the problem. Alex Jones, by taking his stance of ‘against’ is stuck within the old paradigm. He’s merely reinforcing and strengthening the problem.

    what is Kucinich talking about re America and war? for example, i have never personally advocated for war. i have never been asked my opinion on going to war or engaging in foreign conflict (from those implementing these decisions). yet, he keeps talking about “we.”

    i love the internet: we can finally come together…and collectively say through our writings and videos, “I DID NOT SAY THAT!” i never said we should do this or that. all of these decisions…you are thrusting these onto us.

    i am sure that i can go to a 1000 people around me and ask them, “did someone from the government ask you about this?” “did you call them and say, ‘hey we should go to war.’” all a big lie.

    But by your own example, he’s not.

    Here is the AJ process (as I see it):

    1) Be the messenger: Point out to people that they are living in a false reality
    2) “No-one is coming to save you”: Tell people that the messenger has no power to save them only warn them
    3) Make appeals to FEAR if it still hasn’t sunk in yet: “No-one is coming to save you.” “The government is not going to save you.” “I, Alex Jones, am not going to save you.” “The elite ARE out to get you!”
    4) Stand Alone: People eventually get the entire message, the entire process, and take steps in their own lives to save themselves
    5) Check-in: People tune into AJ’s updates and assess the commenters to see if the process is working with others and to get a better idea of what societal forces they’ll be working with i.e., how to deal with people who are still living in that old false reality.

    I don’t doubt AJ. However, it seems like poor strategy to “declassify” all these docs to give AJ et al more ammo. If they (elites) really want to control, why not suppress these documents? He might be on-top-of-it for what the trends are…however, what if this is just another kind of “invisible hand” — an invisible hand constructed from the mathematics of “power,” a complement to other mathematical relationships like “power law.” I just don’t find the competence of any of these people (elites) individually credible…but their collective effect could have some kind of “intelligence.”

    As a strategy…

    We should develop a common moniker to all those in power…something like “elites” to distinguish a “them vs us” effect.

    Instead of bifurcating or fracturing the “elites” into all forms of categories, we need a common “name” to understand the core distinction between all of the elites, so we have more control over the debate and can focus everyone onto the right issues, which is to give people individual liberty, as opposed to giving away our rights to be administered by some foreign entity.

    I aggree with you. Alex Jones has uncovered a handful of pretty important and worrying trends and scandals over the years. He’s scored some big ‘hits’ but he’s also made many, many, many more ‘misses’. I think he’s actually making things worse.

    Einstein said that the solution to any problem can’t be found on the same level as the problem. You have to move to the next level. you have to transcend the problem and focus on solutions.

    So, by all means identify the problem but then talk in terms of solutions. If you continually rant on and on and on and on about the ‘problem’ you only reinforce the belief in the problem in people’s minds. Jones isn’t actually solving anything he’s just reiterating the problem over and over and thus embedding it deeper in the nation’s psyche.

    I don’t think AJ is really helping the situation. He’s fear mongering.

    As a strategy, I don’t agree. Well, yes it may develop that fear mongering. But perhaps he is not the guy for the solutions. He is the messenger. I am impressed that he is able to get his hands on all the data that he does. Check youtube, I think he has like 5000 videos. The guy is maxed-out.

    He is cornerstone. We have to build onto that foundation with those solutions you are desiring, I believe. Two things: We may still not understand the extent of things (eg Tonkin etc) and others in society need to catch-up.

    When people realise they don’t actually know who “us” is or who “them” is and actively resist the standard appeals to tribalism, nationalism, racism, class-ism, “socialism/facism”, religion, etc, so they can see that what really controls people in this world are ideas — good ideas (high congruence to empircal reality) and bad ideas (low or no congruence to empircal reality).

    The elites are simply those who propogate bad ideas COMBINED WITH those people who have been infected by those bad ideas and act in accordance with them believeing their ideas to be good. Both types of people are curable with exposure to good ideas — but then there’s those vested interests: tribal identity and money. Social status, in a nutshell.

    Whenever you see someone make an appeal to ‘us vs them’, you know you’re dealing with someone who’s infected by bad ideas and is desperate gather others around them to shield them from the good. Change is hard. Have sympathy. But stand firm their lashing out at others to hide the humiliation of the bad ideas they themselves hold.

    Jones is blowing the whistle but he’s still stuck in the ‘Us’ against ‘Them’ dynamic. If we give him the benefit of the doubt and say that his motives are pure then, although he’s kinda on the right track in exposing lies. He’s still stuck on the level of fighting against a percieved enemy. It’s ironic that he rants about the falsity of bogus wars when he’s actually waging one himself. He’s stuck on the level of the problem.

    what you state is true and well stated. however, i do think for present problems as a tactical position an “us vs them” is required.

    the whole reason that elites (as i refer to all those who keep pushing us into wars against our own interests.. etc) have been able to propigate bad ideas is due to control they have, via fiat: we abdicate our authority because we are so fragmented. it would seem for elites, it is good to have us fragmented. the past big government for example is “killing” us and we cannot decide a solution because we have no united front to redress our claims.

    And, yes, AJ is full of bad ideas: religion, “good government”, the constitution/social contract that no-one living seems to have signed.

    1. Divide and conquer. Identify common enemies that can be the focus of popular rage. Such ‘moral’ indignation would provide people with all the excuses people need to not examine the false premises they hold and to not have to face to pain of genuine change. A spiralling guilt and humilation will set in from the suppressed awareness of the lies these people are avoiding facing up to, making each divide and conquer promotion that much more likely to be positively embraced.

Dell’s fraudulent accounting made it appear that it was consistently meeting Wall Street earnings targets and reducing its operating expenses through the company’s management and operations.

    I agree, AJ does promote and live from scare mongery, the graphics and visuals are on a par with Fox news, as is the audio. He may make often make valid points but he’s ultimately a showman and needs to maintain a high level of anxiety to keep the viewers coming. On top of that he’s rather from the libertarian school of thought which is basically against government full stop, hence the link to the tea party movement which seems to me to be just a bunch of right wing angry irish americans shouting and not really understanding about what.
    I hope Max doesnt go down the hyperbole road as i think his shows are great (and Stacy of course).

    One problem I have with people doing the “conspiracy talk” is that, like with Alex Jones, so much information and big words is thrown out at the same time, making it all just a big mess. Jumping from huge topics to other huge topics in matter of seconds only makes the viewer confused.

    This is interesting. Government equals violence. So self-governance would equal self-violence.     I’ll just point to one set of facts and argue that the experiment of small governance in America included the intended outcome that “these united States” would not get involved in empire building abroad.

    We could go through each aspect of the ‘social contact’, the constitution, the bill of rights, etc and identify where the stated intention has been violated (the income tax would be the big one). These violations would all add up to a conclusion of sorts, that the outcomes that were to be prevented by this unique form of republican government came to pass anyway. Hence failure, the theory didn’t accurately predict the empirical reality that the growth of government cannot be constrained by government. (A crazy hypothesis in the first place.)

    Also, the more far useful evidence, that those people who DON’T call themselves “the government” are currently not very happy at all judged by media reports and commentary. And if they are not happy, ‘the pursuit of happiness’ aim has not been met — or at, least, not been sustained assuming it ever was met. Happiness is a somewhat fuzzy criterion to be sure, but that was the stated aim of the experiment and it didn’t express exactly how any unhappiness should be acknowledged has having been expressed. So, ask an American, are you happy? That’s the true test.

    How would you argue the American experiment has been successful given its stated aims?

    Is America not an empire like the British empire?
    Does America not suffer from European-style BIG government?

    These would be the obvious questions to ask, since these were the very things the experiment in republican government were intended to avoid.

    I call it as experiment because it was. The founding fathers could only guess how events would turn out. I have to assume honorable intentions, and so I also assume that if the founding fathers could see the results of their experiment, they would acknowledge that it had failed in part or completely/”utterly”. I assume they were rational and honest men and wanted not the experiment to succeed but the intended OUTCOMES of the experiment to be achieved. But it hasn’t and didn’t. So onto the next experiment. If you truly value the intended outcomes, why not?

    Very nicely written. I could leave it at that…thinking that I can take your conclusion and understand well where you are coming from and I would have no need for disagreement as I am in agreement with your concluding premise: indeed, let us find the outcomes we desire.

    For the purposes of an intellectual exercise (I guess), I would like to augment points to slant this another direction — only as it adds to clarity to look at it from different views:

    1. there must be division;
    2. because there must be division, there must be violence;
    3. because there must be violence, there must be government;
    4. eg, anarchism/vol. would be great if people would leave “you” alone but they won’t hence, violence (so, violence can then be thought to be “violence” to violence);
    5. i agree no government would be preferable; but again, there must be division: some seek to rule, while others seek to be ruled (some love their chains…bc it can never be a world of people that are unfamiliar to chains (a 1st-predicate), there will always be some people that desire “chains”;
    6. i agree that govt has metastasized;
    7. i would argue the “principles” were not flawed but rather the men were flawed…absent an equal force of “violence” (an expression of resistance), these men were able to make a “big govt” in their image;
    8. the above absence of “violence,” hence a lack of accountability resulted in an unstable system; either the system produced itself by machinations of self-interested men (a form of violence) or again people, seeking to be ruled, allowed it to be foisted onto themselves

    I agree, given your disposition, no government would be preferable. But it is the other guy you have to watch out for. And to be honest, we might find ourselves to have more in common than not, when assessing a propensity of violence within us. Ie, we all have our buttons, I believe.

    There must be conflict. And the extent of that conflict is variable so the reaction will be variable. Unfortunately, the reaction will and must (given the conflict) escalate to violence.

    (Methinks the lengths of these are going to po and attract “violence” from the proprietors of this space as…it is not philosophy-english-economics class to which we can write long expositions)

    … Last week, privately-owned Dagong published its own sovereign credit ranking in what it said was a first for a non-western credit rating agency.

    The results were very different from those published by Moody’s, Standard & Poor’s and Fitch, with China ranking higher than the United States, Britain, Japan, France and most other major economies, reflecting Dagong’s belief that China is more politically and economically stable than all of these countries.

    You don’t have to agree with everything somebody says to learn from them. Indeed, you don’t have to agree with ANYTHING someobdy says to learn from them. I’d argue that the only way we truly learn is through disagreements that force us to ask new questions that we feel compelled to answer ourselves.

    I don’t know much about Alex Jones, and there’s a lot of what he says that strikes me as a bit over the top, but he certainly is thought-provoking. That being said, I’d no more accept anything he says at face value than I would the corporate script. Jones’ advice of diving into the history and facts yourself was sound.

    That’s necessary but not sufficient because you have giant corporations and banks with hooks into every aspect of our lives. Certainly it is important that people take more responsibility for their lives and work towards disentangling themselves from destructive outside influences (like bank debt), but we’re ultimately going to have to attack the engine that powers these influences, which is monopoly, which perverts both capitalism and democracy.

    When you actually understand how Wall Street and giant corporations work, it is pretty easy to see a variety of ways to accomplish this goal through new business models. The trick to succeeding is never going public. As soon as you’re a public company, you have to manage the business to meet Wall Street expectations, which are driven by the sociopathic neoliberal worldview.

    The good news is that the tools of the master can be used to tear down his house.

Further, the story about the fake video was not confirmed. From what I could discern, the Post did not state that the video Alex Jones discussed in Max’s interview was fake.

  140. wow I can’t believe what is happening, I have watch Max for several years now, Gerald Celente, jim rogers, mish , Ron Paul etc, I have just watched the Obama deception and I am shaking my head in disbeleive, what is happening to the people of the USA, I am discusted with them, how can they allow this to happen, Bernake and the boys should all be tossed in jail, the stealing they are doing will cost many lives. It is pure greed and they are now after their own citizens. Max you speak the truth and I respect you for it, thank you for explaining what is happening to us all, if you didn’t speak out and tell it like it is, I would be lost, it is very difficult to figure out their next fraud.   146. Normally, I love Max, and the insight his (usually knowledgeable) guests provide. Alex Jones??? Well, I guess if he has you on his show you have to reciprocate, or at least pull something out of your butt if you’re caught in a last-minute bind.

    On the other hand, I’ll give Max the credit – the same kind they give to new teachers working in troubled communities or indian reservations – for helping bring the throngs of Alex Jones followers up a few IQ points by exposing them to the actual thought and realization that Max can induce in some people.

    So, great show!
