Russia’s Drought Raises Bondholder Risk

Stacy Summary: I do laugh when shriekers and employees of the House of Saud drop by, “stick to finance, babe, don’t write about climate change.” As if the two can be separated.

High temperatures, which rose to a record 37.4 Celsius (99 Fahrenheit) yesterday in Moscow, have damaged 32 percent of land under cultivation and forced Russia to declare states of emergency in 23 regions. Grain prices may double this year because of the drought, according to the Grain Producers’ Union.

Inflation may quicken to 8.1 percent by the end of December, compared with the government’s annual forecast of 6 percent, according to Yaroslav Lissovolik, Deutsche Bank AG’s head of research in Moscow. That will put pressure on Bank Rossii to raise its benchmark rate by year-end for the first time since December 2008, said Natalia Orlova, Moscow-based chief economist at Alfa Bank.

Higher rates “may cause a correction in short-term sovereign bonds and, later, in long-term sovereign bonds,” said Evgeniy Nadorshin, senior economist at Trust Investment Bank in Moscow.

  1. @redzebra

Did you read that article or just the summary? Answer – Summary

Nobody disputes climate change, just the impact of human activity.

The problem with Max’s eco-marxist theology is that global redistribution of wealth will not break the corporatism as intended. The corporations never pay the price, it will be the poor and economically enslaved who pays. The Corporatists will be more empowered in a global fascist utopia as they utilize their overwhelming influence with the state to coerce and extort ‘labour wealth’ from the individual…

    The elites control..

    Governments ..
    Corporations ..
    Media ..
    Scientists and Academics ..

Why give them more power over your life… THEY ALL LIE

Maybe Max and Stacy will wake up when they come for their gold… it is better for the collective after all it really belongs to the world.

  2. A new climate change report from the Met Office and its US equivalent has provided the “greatest evidence we have ever had” that the world is warming

  3. Here in Ireland we burn peat in open fires, I love it, the smell, very nostalgic, my madeline moment.

  4. You jokers can debate all you want about global warning – it doesn’t matter, the earth is already responding. A new study in Nature today shows phytoplankton mass is hugely decreased in just the last 100 years.

in case that doesnt bother you, phytoplankton represent the bottom of ALL food chains – remove them and the rest go too. tabula rasa

  6. Here is the real Question for Max..

Assume C02 does not cause climate change…

Do you still stand by your global redistribution of wealth?

  7. FFSS!

  8. Max
    speaking of correlations..

What is correlation between AGWers and “Marxist/Socialists” let’s call them Global Statist.

Funny that you would think that science and politics would be related…

  9. And what WL said too. :)

  10. Question: Who has the most incentive and resources to be concerned with “climate change”? In other words who is most interested in maintaining the status quo? Is it not the uber rich who wish to have a nice pristine Earth now that mere survival is no longer a concern for them?

As for “climate change”: Notice how it has replaced “global warming”? So now any change in climate is the fault of excessive CO2?

    Blame CO2:
    1) if it gets warmer
    2) if it gets colder
    3) if it gets wetter
    4) if it gets dryer
    5) if anything bad happens

And ignore any positive benefits that increased CO2 brings.

But go ahead and cut CO2. I enjoy a good laugh and having a glacier scrape away Wall Street would be a good one.

A theory that explains everything is not falsifiable

  11. Ugh, Max and Stacy are confusing political ideology with scientific theory. Climate change is natural and worthy of comment but spewing an eco-marxist dogma is a little much guys.

Clearly, human pollution is a legitimate issue. Clearly the world must move away from fossil fuels. Clearly wind and solar fall short of any legitimate alternative.

The AGW science has been “captured” essentially using poor science, theory and correlation to demonize C02 for political purposes.

Do you deny natural Climate Change? Have you actually read the science?

Are you expressing an ideology or are you expressing the science?

I suspect you are pushing a political agenda….though perhaps you don’t realize it.

    Post hoc ergo propter hoc

  12. … the bankers issue every single fiat currency on earth today and so directly control to the fiat penny what your ‘wealth’ is worth;… Stacy

Which is why legal tender laws and other government privileges for FRNs should be abolished. Let the US Treasury issue currency that is legal tender for government debts only and let the free market take care of its needs with private monies.

In a conversation it came out that each house could be powered by individual wind turbines, the 15 foot one. But the government wants the market to fix this rather than grabbing the means of production and rolling these things out. Wait a second, isnt the world ending? and were lettting the free market run profits?

    Bums?

  22. @Bonn – good point re: MIC and war; Al Gore needs to hire some dark people dress them in robes and turbans, put them in a cave in a distant land, and release a video threatening to destroy the ‘American way of life’ and straight away he can coin himself trillions with nary a squeak from the taxpayer . . . what’s up with his diabolical, elaborate scheme where he has to pay off literally tens of thousands of scientists, fund millions upon millions in research, manipulate the weather via multi-million dollar high tech expensive technology, etc.; he could trigger a multi-trillion dollar ‘war on terror’ with a $35 laptop and $100 to some actors in Bollywood or Nollywood

  23. @snoot – the bankers issue every single fiat currency on earth today and so directly control to the fiat penny what your ‘wealth’ is worth; they can destroy your fiat savings by lunch time if they feel like it

  24. @Dedo – they multiply quickly, the Saudi ‘royal’ family has more than 5,000 princes, I don’t know how many princes are in the House of al-Khalifa, but I guess those are your oligarchs you wish to fund; there really ought to be a neo-feudal exchange where peasants can bid to support the lord they prefer

In 1947, Admiral Richard E. A Rear-Admiral who was in that invasion has retired in Texas, and said he was shocked when he read the “Fire From The Sky” material. their carbon debts

Who has propriety over this latest ponzi exchange? Doesn’t sound like the US. Must be an European project. What is the index for this exchange?

Our right to breathe? Oh,ooops. Our privilege to breathe. Our hope that we will be allowed to breathe and eat and have water in the new global totalitarian beastiality.

    Don’t drop the soap.

  31. @TheFlyingDutchman – the oligarchs are raking in billions annually on agriculture and patents on agricultural products, have you stopped eating? the Abu Dhabi royal family is worth several TRILLION dollars, do you not mind this transfer of wealth to them? is it a case of better the oligarch you know than the one you don’t?

as I said above, however, there is ZERO we have to do because it is being done as per any African savannah, no mechanism or tax needs to be put in place, if the models are true then the predicted shortages will drive up the cost of available supply, the Abu Dhabi royal family seems certain to do well in that case too

  32. @ Mother Earth

Yeah I know. It was just an exsample. Very simplified. Don’t really feel this is the ight place to write an essay on effects of global climate changes or even the effect should the Gulf Stream head further north

  33. In some countries – UK and Germany for example

the debate is not about GWCC anymore

it’s about how best for families to generate MORE power at home using wind and solar to sell BACK to the government for a PROFIT

the problem with welfare bums – they never think in terms of profits – only only handouts. Like in the US – the people want the rest of the world to pay for their carbon debts; with welfare handouts.

    Bums.

  34. TheFlyingDutchman

Because there’s less than 100 years of “good” imperical data and the oligarchs are lining up to cash this cow of carbon credits in am I a skeptic of global warming.

However the house of saud needs to have an ebola filled paintball war within its own ranks, and I’d be willing to fund that PIG fight.

  35. We can shriek all we want to each other; and mostly about ‘the elite’ (as if they would need to concoct an elaborate scam involving paying off tens of thousands of scientists just to tax us LOL) in the meantime, a price IS being put on climate change as per the article;, grain prices have risen by 33% this week in Russia and are expected to double by the end of the year; scarcity, as always, will drive prices higher; our gasoline and oil might get cheaper and cheaper but the real cost will continue to show up in bond prices and the price of things like food and water . . . try living without those

    “Liquidity for Eco-System

Yes, the proprietors of the dollar/exchange are behind both the G20 law-binding machine and the narrative associated with climate change. They seek to induce a closed system of exchange within the control of multilateral force. The climate exchange is proferred as an index of the macabre intention of these elite to eliminate that which is denied exchange (liquidity/blood) within the body of their intentions.

The state they provoke into being will have all the character and quality of Frankenstein and will, one hopes, destroy its maker in like fashion.

As one can see from the news reports of the gulf oil spill and the accompanying hype/marginalization of those who stand skeptic: necessity-driven reality need not make sense or be supported by true science. It need only derive its impetus from the core, the heart, of the state body.

  43. frances snoot

I draw upon Kristeva within the context of the Hegelian state as body.

  44. Climate check-up ‘screams world is warming’

A report on the world’s climate has confirmed that 2009 was one of Australia’s hottest years on record and provides more evidence of global warming.

Three hundred scientists from the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association compiled the report, which the association’s data centre chief Deke Arndt says paints a compelling picture.
    {…}
Mr Arndt says the signs of global warming are undeniable.

“On a decade scale, that is very clear. The 1980s was the warmest decade on record as of December 31, 1989, but every single year in the 90s was warmer than that decade’s average temperature.”

Beyond the process of marginalization is the categorization of the abject as ‘horror object’ aka ‘shrieker’:

    http://www.cla.purdue.edu/english/theory/psychoanalysis/kristevaabject.html

“ACCORDING TO JULIA KRISTEVA in the Powers of Horror, the abject refers to the human reaction (horror, vomit) to a threatened breakdown in meaning caused by the loss of the distinction between subject and object or between self and other. The primary example for what causes such a reaction is the corpse (which traumatically reminds us of our own materiality); however, other items can elicit the same reaction: the open wound, shit, sewage, even the skin that forms on the surface of warm milk……

…..the abject “is radically excluded and,” as Kristeva explains, “draws me toward the place where meaning collapses” (Powers 2). It is neither object nor subject; the abject is situated, rather, at a place before we entered into the symbolic order.”

We have not yet entered the symbolic order. It is now that the abject is molded by words left reticent for “all to see”. It is the apparent lack of objectivity which derives this stance of sorcerer’s apprentice within the alchemy of words.

It is force, though, which will maintain the category once we enter the ‘symbolic order’.

The European Project? Politics aligned with science to protect our survival? Necessity-driven reality as defined by the state?

“The goal of the Logic is herewith set. It consists on the one hand in demonstrating the true form of such a final reality and, on the other, in showing how the concepts that try to grasp that reality are led to the conclusion that it is the absolute truth. Hegel announced in his criticism of the Kantian philosophy that the task of logic was ‘to develop’ the categories and not merely ‘to assemble’ them.”

    http://www.marxists.org/reference/archive/marcuse/works/reason/marcuse1.htm

Max and Stacy are merely pursuing their ‘task’ of developing the categories: shriekers, deniers, and the good-folk-of-the-third-way who aren’t willing to speak against the righteous rule of Europe. It the responsibility of M/S to chastise these ‘other’ through verbal remonstrance.

It is this other that will in eventuality become the altern-derived abject.

  51. @Brett Gallie – wow, thanks for that link, had no idea that there were peat fires too

  52. The article linked to in this post is beautiful in its simplicity 1.) temperatures rise to a record high which causes 2.) damage to 32% of agricultural lands which leads to 3.) a doubling of grain prices which causes 4.) inflation which directly impacts 5.) bond prices upon which the entire global financial system is built.

This is something Max has said over and over again; finally we are seeing it live, in action, facts on the ground that financial liquidity is directly impacted by environmental liquidity.

  53. GWCC denying is directly proportional to climate-debt liabilities.

Those living the U.S. for example, who share the highest climate debt liability costs per capita of anyone are the strongest deniers.

Those living in Africa – who will be the biggest recipients of climate holocaust reparations – from countries who racked up the debt – have the least number of deniers.

The overall cost of GWCC is fast approaching double digit levels per GWP (Gross World Product)

Eventually, everyone will have to pay their climate bill.

    Why not be pro-active?

Oh yea, you plan to finance your climate tab – and take advantage of low, low interest rates.

    There is no debate.

I would just like to point out that Global Warming isn’t the right term to use as it is very missleading. Rather use the term Global Climate Changes as it doesn’t exclude that the change can actually be in both ways of the thermometer.

Take the Gulf Stream. It makes the west coast of Norway icefree all year round even though Norway is mostly as far north as Greenland. Now should the temprature of the Gulf Stream change it will stop going to Norway thus the west coast there should see coolder weather.

    http://arabnews.com/middleeast/article92066.ece
DUBAI: A Japanese shipping line raised alarm Wednesday that one of its supertankers was damaged by an explosion in a possible attack in the Gulf, but authorities on both sides of the tense waterway denied that any strike occurred.

Details of what happened as the hulking M. Star tanker steered its way through the strategically sensitive Strait of Hormuz remain murky. The US Navy fleet that patrols the region acknowledged reports of an explosion aboard the ship but said the cause of the blast is unclear.

Local officials cited natural causes, such as an unusually strong wave that slammed into the side of the ship.

A photo released by the Emirates state news agency WAM after the tanker arrived in Fujairah port for inspections showed a large, square-shaped dent beginning near the waterline on the rear starboard side of the ship’s hull.
