[KR72] Keiser Report – Markets! Finance! Arctic Arms Race!

Stacy Summary: We look at the scandals of security firms by day, terrorists by night and whether or not Erik Prince ‘needs a break from America,’ or broke America. Locke on Dissolution of Government

When any one, or more, shall take upon them to make laws whom the people have not appointed so to do, they make laws without authority, which the people are not therefore bound to obey; by which means they come again to be out of subjection, and may constitute to themselves a new legislative, as they think best, being in full liberty to resist the force of those who, without authority, would impose anything upon them. Every one is at the disposure of his own will, when those who had, by the delegation of the society, the declaring of the public will, are excluded from it, and others usurp the place who have no such authority or delegation.

Whoever introduces new laws, not being thereunto authorised, by the fundamental appointment of the society, or subverts the old, disowns and overturns the power by which they were made, and so sets up a new legislative.

Secondly, when the prince hinders the legislative from assembling in its due time, or from acting freely, pursuant to those ends for which it was constituted, the legislative is altered. [This happened to clandestinely forge the IRS, taxation & Federal Reserve Bank – e.g. during a Christmas break in 1913] For it is not names that constitute governments, but the use and exercise of those powers that were intended to accompany them; so that he who takes away the freedom, or hinders the acting of the legislative in its due seasons, in effect takes away the legislative, and puts an end to the government.

Thirdly, when, by the arbitrary power of the prince, the electors or ways of election are altered without the consent and contrary to the common interest of the people, there also the legislative is altered.

Fourthly, the delivery also of the people into the subjection of a foreign power [such as Israel], either by the prince or by the legislative, is certainly a change of the legislative, and so a dissolution of the government. For the end why people entered into society being to be preserved one entire, free, independent society to be governed by its own laws, this is lost whenever they are given up into the power of another.

  2. @ Max/Stacy – Glad to see your moderation in the interview in reference to “climate change” as opposed to CO2 AGW. Thankyou. The issue here has been less about climate change, and more on the unscientific position of CO2 AGW. There is indeed climate change all over the world – the issue is what is the driver? It is NOT CO2 (look up at the sun!). Parts of the arctic/antarctic are both building ice and shedding ice – just like other parts of the world that are experiencing extremes in both temp directions. And the predictions call for much worse extremes as we head to the peak of the current solar cycle.

    @chArles,

There are a lot of things that one can say about Keynes and his sins. The sin that I was talking about was the primary sin as perceived by the rentier class, who most classical economists pretend don’t exist for fear of offending it. Keynes wanted to euthanize the rentier class through government intervention, and governments found the notion attractive. Neoliberalism is all about destroying the power of governments to intervene. All those cries about “socialism” were a ruse.

Always happy to conduct our conversations over email. My gmail account is taojonesing

  5. In the end, we are all damned

    @Bel-Ami

You wrote: “Of course they do not come out and say “we want the Jews to go back to the “Holy Land” so they can die or be damned.”

And you wrote, “Anti-Semitism has been a principle of American Fundamentalist Christianity since Dispensationalism.”

Your thoughts represent THE thing I hate more in all of life: Lies and deceit. Your writing is just evil.

  6. Max, please at least consider the possibility that mainstream climatologists are exactly as reliable as mainstream economists. Then look into the science if you want, but you’d probably be more interested in looking into the plans to make CO2 into a highly profitable ponzi scheme through cap and trade.

  8. MacArthur kept the Emperor of Japan safe, and wisely employed his help to stabilize the Japanese nation, unlike in Iraq today where American soldiers are taught to disparage all of Iraq religion and culture.

Vast difference in wisdom and outcomes…

  9. The actions of MacArthur were the actions of one enlightened man.

The U.S. is therefore schizophrenic, with some Christian values expressed imperfectly inwardly, and OT Hebrew militarism expressed outwardly.

  10. I think it’s not generally recognized that the reason Christian nations are involved in a lot of wars has to do with the structure of the Bible.

In the New Testament, Jesus lays out a program that reaches out to all peoples of the earth, as potentially God’s children. This immediately obsoletes the Hebrew tendency to feel as a chosen people they had first dibs on any land near their current holdings.

It obsoletes the superiority of the Jewish people, levels the playing field.

Then Paul spends his career spreading this program. This is part 2 of the NT.

Part 3 of the NT is missing. This would be a history of a Christian nation, which would employ Christian values in foreign relations. It would use war as a last resort, for self-defense. And it would treat defeated enemies graciously. No gratuitous slaughter, or holocausts.

Because part 3 is missing, Christian get their nation to nation relationships from the Old Testament by default, which is as violent a document as you can find anywhere on Planet earth.

I would add that under Douglas MacArthur, second world war, you can find a man who employed Christian principles in administering the occupation of Japan, and he did an extraordinary job.

Had some political hack had the job, the Japanese occupation might have turned into something difficult. Maybe not as bad as Iraq, but not good. He insisted on his soldiers treating the Japanese and their women respectfully. Many Japanese feared the American Invasion because they knew what their own soldiers would have done had they conquered America.

It is recorded in Japanese newspapers of the day, that the Japanese were humbled by the high road the Americans had taken every bit as much as the military defeat itself…

  11. Just to mention, I remember the left behind films only in the reaction I saw in someone who saw them and really liked it.

Now I didn’t see them myself, so I can’t comment on the film, but this person I used to work with seemed to be gloating over the spectacle.

I didn’t say anything to them about their reaction, my sense was this person blamed the evils of society on non-believers. I thought that odd because according to polls, most people do consider themselves Christians. I think it’s over 80 percent even believes in Angels (I don’t)

I remember thinking that this individual didn’t understand that Christians are as a group just as responsible for mess we’re in as non-Christians.

I would add this was some time ago, and I don’t know anyone with those attitudes presently…

  12. Fiatmentalist

    Crust of the Earth?

  13. First any Christian who reads the Old Testament seriously would find it very difficult to be antisemitic. Second, any Jew who seriously reads the Old Testament would find it very difficult to be conceited about being a Jew.

  14. @Talcott

I politely disagree. With the increase in Economic hardship in the US it is only getting worse. This truly was a “Summer of Hate”. Immigrants, African Americans, Homosexuals and Muslims–backed by the megaphone of FOXNews and preached from the pulpits of US Fundamentalist Evangelical Mega-Churches.

  15. @Bel-Ami

I think I understand where your coming from when you use the words fundamentalist’s and evangelicals, but don’t think these categorization’s adequately delineate the people your talking about. I’m not intending to an split etymological hair, yet prefer to use a different name’s for those who traverse a wide and dusty road.

  16. @MarkLyttle

I appreciate your thoughtful comments. And I also appreciate your neutrality. I have never had a bad experience with anyone over Religious views, thankfully.

Pointing out the obvious evils of Christian Fundamentalism(Anti-Semitism is one) after 8 years of Dubya and nearly two years of a Dubya lite who has to prove he is not a Muslim is not the sign of any trauma experienced. Rather, it is merely the presentation of true consciousness towards a ubiquitous and stifling force in American culture–> From US Soldiers being punished for not attending Christian Fundamentalist rallies when they have free time to Koran burning rallies in Florida…….To ignore the obvious hate and fearmongering they preach against everyone “not like them” would be folly.

  17. “In the ’50s, they always produced a “Year book” for each Christmas … and it was one of the presents most kids were always hoping to get for Xmas (UK of course).”

MirrorMirror – I still have my Beano Christmas books form the late 60′s and early 70′s stored in a 1950′s suit case in a 1930′s wardrobe behind my bed.

    I just felt emotional

  18. IntheEnd: Your statement is 100% fallacious and I have never heard someone speak as you are inferring or have I read anything that would be suggestive of what you are stating.

IntheEnd has never heard it ergo it is 100% fallacious.

The Left Behind series of novels sold millions of copies in the US. Many Christian Fundamentalists acribe to its anti-semitic eschatology. According to their warped beliefs the Jews must repopulate the “Holy Land” to kick start Armageddon where Israel is destroyed and 2/3′s of the Jews are slaughtered. After that the good Jews who survive and convert to Christianity are taken up(144,000–they set a quota on them!) and the rest are damned. These books were handed out at Churches and taught to children. Pat Robertson wrote a similarly themed book back in early 80′s involving the Soviet Union attacking Israel.

There are tons of articles and books about the American Evangelicals and the Anti-Semitic end times scenarios they espouse. How have you avoided this popular movement in the US? Of course they do not come out and say “we want the Jews to go back to the “Holy Land” so they can die or be damned” but it is explicitly stated in their doctrine. They support further expansion of settlements in the West Bank for European and American Jewish settlers–in fact–they advertise on TV to fund them! They are all for war with Iran.

I can’t see how this phenomena in contemporary Christian Fundamentalism has escaped your attention. Anti-Semitism has been a principle of American Fundamentalist Christianity since Dispensationalism.

Here’s a good quote from Frank Schaeffer(the son of a popular American Fundamentalist):

“Those same apocalyptic “prophecies” predict that upon Jesus’ return only evangelical Christians will be saved, and that the vast majority of Jews living in Israel (or elsewhere) will be killed. The “unsaved” Jews’ destiny will be eternal damnation and the anguish of hell for having “refused” the Messiah.

Evangelical’s “support for Israel” is something like a pedophile’s “support” for children. Evangelicals want to “save” Jews from Judaism and save Israel to hasten the return of Jesus so that they can travel on spaceship Jesus to heaven at the so-called rapture.

Evangelicals want Israel up and running as a launching pad for themselves, not as a home for Jews. Jews who don’t go back to Israel, therefore, condemn evangelicals to die alongside ordinary mortals, before Jesus comes back and snatches the Evangelicals bodily into the clouds …”

George W. Bush won millions of votes in America by appealing to these Christian Fundamentalist Evangelicals. The Iraq war, torture and pre-emptive war was embraced by these same Evangelical lovers of Jesus. There are millions of them in the US. How else could Dubya have won so many votes? How else do more than 50% of the people in US now view Iran as an enemy?

    IntheEnd,

Your denial of the anti-semitism in Fundamentalist American Evangelical Christianity is far more dangerous than me stating the truth of their well publicized, through their own spoken word and writings, beliefs.

It’s amazing your entire comment was an ad hominem attack calling me an “alarmist”, “quasi-intellectual” and “100% fallacious”–and your reason–”I have never heard anyone speak….”

Your ignorance of the Christian Right in the US(cf. Sarah Palin, Tea Party, FRC) is not a sufficient argument against my comment. Your Ad Hominem tags are a necessary cohort to the former logical fallacy used.

The opening of your comment was an admirable admission of restraint. Unfortunately it only served as rhetorical gravy poured over an unrestrained and ad hominem filled rant.

In the future practice what you preach.

  19. I remember reading 2000 ad (comic),..and seeing all these fat fkers (obese),.riding around in trolleys (this was back in the day, when there weren’t many of them about),..I mean fat fkers,..not trolleys!

is it me or is it the software that needs updating?

  36. @in the end

    It’s possible he’s had some bad experiences…

I am in a Bible study with my wife, It’s an interesting time, and all the folks there are nice, but we’ve had our days of controversy. Most of us have run into a few real bad apples along the way,…

Myself, I have asperger syndrome, and as a rule we have trouble with some of it. I know my values don’t mesh with large parts of the OT, but I go along(mostly) for the sake of group harmony.

  37. In the end, we are all damned

    @Mark Lytle

Agree with first post. Regarding second post, Christian fundamentalists such as evangelicals can be such a small percentage of the general population pool. The difference with Christianity and other forms of qualifiers or labels is that Christianity as someone would call themselves a Christian is not relevant as a cultural emblem. And what I mean by that is “self-referential” statements such as “I am a Christian” do not carry the same weight as someone in another cultural element because the rights or procedures are not evident (at least not any longer) to be identified as cultural. What that means is the commonality is gone. That is why it is particularly egregious to make the assertions as Bel-Ami is making because it is not a careful statement resulting in massive misinformation.

  38. I meant Bel-Ami..It’s late…

  39. Put it another way, if 20% of the people in this country are Anti-Semitic, what are the odds that all of these people are non-Christians when north of 85% or so of the population say they are Christian.

You can argue that they are false Christians, but I would be surprised if there weren’t a few people around in that profile…

  40. @In the end

I have to say the Christian people in my immediate circles are as you say, supportive of Israel. (Almost too supportive sometimes).

But Christians through history have had periods of rather extreme anti-semitism. I’m thinking middle ages, and sometime preceding WWII in Europe. So I wouldn’t agree that Christians _always_ had the best of intentions here. Also most things are on a Bell-curve. I would never assume there wouldn’t be a small number even today who feel something in the way Bon-air asserts.

  41. Hey Max and Stacy…. did that Icelandic company you guys advertised for on here whom were selling the guillotines go out of business by any chance, or did you guys just remove the ad to make room for the new huge PMF index/feed? If they went out of business then damnit, I was going to convert what I had left in dollars to purchase one (though I do remember seeing it advertised for 9,999 Icelandic krona) right before the revolution, so I could say that I spent my last dollar correctly….

  42. In the end, we are all damned

    @Bel-Ami

Generally, I want to be supportive on this site to the point that if I have nothing good to write regarding another person’s entry then write nothing. But your ignorance is almost to the point of being dangerous.

You wrote: “Forgot to add that Christian Fundamentalists support Israel right or wrong because of an Anti-Semitic Eschatology. They want all the Jews back in Israel so Christ can come back to damn them in the Last Judgement.”

This is the kind of stuff when propagated encourages increasing alarmism and makes the truth more and more difficult to be learned all because you want to score some political points and present a view in a quasi-intellectual way.

Your statement is 100% fallacious and I have never heard someone speak as you are inferring or have I read anything that would be suggestive of what you are stating. If anything, I have heard others state that “Jews were the chosen people” and as such protected by God.

That is the eschatology of it.

  44. @Talcott and FBeard

Right wing evangelicals support Israel through their fundamentalist christian views. I am in total agreement with your disgust towards anyone who’d use Christianity to spread Anti-Semitism–but the Catholic Church(Inquisition)and Protestantism(Martin Luther) weren’t above it. Right Wing Fundamentalists read the “Left Behind” series of novels. It is well known this massively popular series of rapture novels were blatantly anti-semitic.

here are a few reviews and articles:

    http://why-they-hate-us.blogspot.com/2007/10/left-behind-booksfilmsgame-just-plain.html

    http://www.secularhumanism.org/library/fi/cohen_21_2.html

There is also a wonderful piece by a Jewish American progressive about right wing anti-semitism and the evangelicals.

here’s a quote from the piece:

“Most of the anti-Semitism comes from racism and most of the racism I have experienced has come from the far right, not the left. And history shows that the Christo-fascist policies of the right have been responsible for historical anti-Judaism. It is only lately that the extreme evangelical groups have conveniently aligned with Israel now to validate their biblical beliefs. These extreme evangelicals were the most anti-Jewish because of the Passion Narratives of the New Testament. And for my friends in AIPAC, they should be aware that short-term alliances with people who have endemic hatred of you could be disastrous.”

This piece was by Sheldon Drobny–Every time I attempt to post a link to the article it boots me off this page……It’s from the HuffingtonPost.
The title was “Liberal/Progressive Anti-Semitism”—he was responding to charges that the progressives were anti-semitic in the US.

Throughout Western Civilization Christianity has been misused to spread anti-semitism practically and ideologically. There are several recent examples of this–Mel Gibson’s “Passion….” is one. It, like the Left Behind series, was wildly popular with evangelical christian fundamentalists. Humorous to note they are also the ones behind Islamophobia–Burning Korans in Gainesville–Voting down Mosques in Tennessee….

We’ll know we’re in trouble if the bond yield graph, in the not real distant future, makes it up across the channel it’s been traveling along, and breaks up through the top of it.

That would be the technical confirmation of real trouble…

  59. @Gordo

Well the right wing will be elected and they will do that together with a mandatory draft and WOIII.

Tell that to people and the won’t believe cause they are so gullible and ill informed.

  60. Forgot to add that Christian Fundamentalists support Israel right or wrong because of an Anti-Semitic Eschatology. They want all the Jews back in Israel so Christ can come back to damn them in the Last Judgement. They support them only to destroy them in the Apocalypse. The Neo-Cons feed into this ideology at their peril. It is easy to supplant one deep seated form of Anti-Semitism with another. Americans are growing tired of blood and treasure for Israel.

Not all Jews support present Israeli policy. Hassidim and other Ultra-Orthodox groups consider the return of Jews to the Holy Land before Elias’ (Elijah) second coming an abomination. Liberal Jewish groups like J Street call for Israel to honor the human rights of the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza.

All forms of Anti-Semitism should be rejected—especially Christian Fundamentalism. AIPAC sadly exploits two forms of Anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and Christian Fundamentalism, for temporal gain.

  61. @Mark Lytle

Am not so much into these statistics so you know better. I think the breakpoint will be, like Faber said, when the debt can’t be rolled over cause the interest can’t be payed anymore. Someone must be able to make the calculation when that will be?

But since they create money out of thin air and eating their own dog food it’s more likely that hyperinflation will result cause of lack of trust in the dollar so everybody is panic dumping them. Who or what will trigger this?

Quiet frankly I am surprised this didn’t happen allready? China must be the one leading the soft landing but even they cannot predict when panic will kick in. They try to get rid of the dollar in a steady fahsion but at some point somebody will wonder who’s buying the debt? And we allready know the answer on that question.

  62. Unfortunately Peter Schiff and Marc Faber have become part of the problem not the solution.

Their comments play into the austerity -right wing agenda.

    Cut Social Security etc.

Let me guess. Will I be reimbursed for my contributions along with interest?

Or will it be looted without my say in the matter?

  63. Palestinians and Arabs are Semitic. Islamophobia in the US is Anti-Semitism. The Israeli blockade of Gaza and expansion of settlements in the West Bank is an Anti-Semitic policy of Ethnic Cleansing and Collective Punishment.

  65. @youri

Just watched your link to Schiff and Faber. Noted that at the end he (Faber) felt December 2009 was the top of the bond bubble and he felt that wouldn’t be exceeded. The charts I posted a couple of hours ago, show we are revisiting that level. We’re very close. and it looks like a double bottom in yields or a double top in Bond values may be upon us, unless these markets break a 20+ year trendline…

  66. Illinois Brandon

    @YouriCarma
What do you make of the growing antisemitism in the US? Here you had one of the two major parties in the country which basically allowed this to continue on it’s facebook site. It didn’t remove until a left wing magazine threatened to go public with it to the press. Marc Faber actually warned Jews to leave the US and Europe and move to Asia he is that worried.

    @Mike@MirrorMirror@Max…@All

I have a confession to make! It was me: I am the one that caused global warming! I did it! See…many years ago, I drove my car around the block real fast like…I mean real fast! And I did it knowing that I would set-off a chain reaction (aka butterfly effect) and that would launch the whole thing. I I I I I I …did it!

All of the other pollutants and such did not really have an impact until my little stunt: I opened a hole and released the chain.

High-speed winds formed the hole, preventing the formation of bright summertime clouds, which would have reflected the sun’s powerful rays. The clouds acted like a mirror to the sun’s rays, reflecting the sun’s heat away from the surface warming from rising carbon emissions, which has been effectively canceled…by my hole.

Now we can all go back to worrying about our other pet issues…maybe even our real pet. I promise I will not drive my car again…or at least not real fast like again!

In my view we have an extreme situation in the Netherland with mortgages and housing prices: no one seems to give it attention, and I get vague responses of people who I tell my view. Feels me like a shouting man in the desert and even makes me doubt…
IMF stated housing prices were 30% too expensive in the Netherlands, but the common reaction was (of course by those who benifit) this is due to scarcity. To my view if the prices are starting really to fall that will lead to a big disaster.

  115. The Great Deleveraging Lie http://www.zerohedge.com/article/guest-post-great-deleveraging-lie

You can’t open a newspaper or watch a business news network without seeing or hearing that consumers and businesses have been de-leveraging.

US Household Debt Shrank 1.5% in the Second Quarter.

Consumer spending as a percentage of GDP is still above 70%. This is well above the 64% level that was consistent between 1950 and 1980. Consumer spending was entirely propped up by an ever increasing level of debt. The American economy will never recover until consumer spending drops back to the 64% range that indicates a balanced economic system.

Total credit market debt peaked at $52.9 trillion in the 1st quarter of 2009. It is currently at $52.1 trillion. The GREAT DE-LEVERAGING of the United States has chopped our total debt by 1.5%.

If consumer debt was $13.8 trillion at the end of 2008 and the banks have since written off 5.66% of that debt, total write-offs were $800 billion. If total consumer debt now sits at $13.5 trillion, then consumers have actually taken on $500 billion of additional debt since the end of 2008. The consumer hasn’t cut back at all. They are still spending and borrowing

The truth is that the debt has simply been shifted from criminal Wall Street Banks to the American taxpayer.

The Fed this week reinstated its program of purchasing Treasuries in a bid to lower long-term interest rates and support the economic recovery, which has shown signs of weakening.

  135. Just should mention in the context of the charts of the low bond yields I posted earlier, over the last several years, when the bond yields hit the bottom of the widening channel shown, it was at or near a major stock market bottom. Currently the technicals on the stock market actually sorta looks that way.

For the $Rut (Russell 2000) , it looks like a double bottom:

    http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_SxZuN3tlxbQ/THZvZDJl7kI/AAAAAAAACts/3uSWBTJtDno/s1600/db.png

Everything fits then, between what bond yields and market technicals say, but it doesn’t ‘feel’ right.

With the economy de-leveraging you would really expect the rally from March ’09 to fizzle around this time, not get re-juiced into another leg up..

In the current environment of extremely disappointing growth and apparent lack of response to traditional monetary stimulus, policies that are less than orthodox are likely to be considered seriously. Most of these unorthodox polices are likely to weigh on the USD.”

  155. He pointed out that with mortgage-backed security and Treasury yields both low, the Fed would have more success buying private assets like corporate bonds, syndicated loans, small business loans and credit-card receivables — a technical as well as political challenge. The Fed has little room to change its language on how long it will keep interest rates low, and the interest it pays on reserves is already a small 0.25%, Blinder noted. He also suggested that the Fed could ease up on healthy banks that are willing to make loans.

What makes life complicated is that the elites use charges of racism to frustrate reform. People that opposed Obama’s healthcare initiative were called racists. What makes it even more complicated is some of the tea party people and other anti-Obama factions probably are racist, so this somewhat correct call by the establishment frustrates all debate.

And with AIPAC, it’s the same problem. If you don’t support Israel in everything it does, then you must be anti-semitic.

This, of course, does not have to be the case…

Idd, Israeli society is divided more then what is generally known. The common man has little to say in politics, forgein or domestic, and is like any other reasonable people peaceloving and careing. They wish to live in peace with their palestinian neighbours. That is not the truth for their ruling class however and unfortuanatly it is the palestinians that pay the price (if it had been the isrealis somethings might change)

When it comes to the position that some jews hold in the banking world there are things to be considered. Without going into them to deeply I mention that Hitler generally spared jews that where of “use” to him, these where economists, money printers and so on. The deathcamps also somewhat consolidated wealth from entire families on only 1 or 2 survivours. And when they were “given” Israel they, the rich, had a blank sheet of paper to build a nation on, and thats pretty much a wet dream when it comes to building wealth.

Point is I dont find it very surpiceing or interesting that a large portion of “the elite” or Jewish. Since the WW2 they have had a paved road to power imho however unpopular it may be. But fact of the matter is that they are powercrazed warmongering individuals that happen to be Jewish and not because they are Jewish. That sometimes gets lost in the discussion. :P

Btw, Norway won the war when they stopped Nazis from making the first A-bomb!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwegian_heavy_water_sabotage

  160. Ever read an article, and the first thing you notice is completely different from the subject matter, yet related??? Make sense??

From “Bill’s Blog”, by Bill Haynes, 8/25/10:

[China to eliminate death penalty for smuggling gold and silver

Among 13 crimes set to no longer carry the death penalty in China is the smuggling of gold or silver. The proposed amendment to China’s criminal statutes would reduce the number of crimes punishable by death to 55. That China has in its laws the death penalty for smuggling gold or silver shows just how much the State fears honest money.

Other death penalty crimes set to be eliminated include the smuggling of cultural relics or rare animals, trafficking in tax invoices, teaching crime-committing methods, robbing ancient cultural ruins and carrying out fraudulent activities with letters of credit or financial bills. Such is life (and death) in a total police state.]

Now me, I come away with this thought: “gee, who is it in China that just decriminalized these crimes….including smuggling of gold, silver, relics and rare animals …maybe the one’s committing it???”

Look at the laws changed: Smuggling gold out of China??? The poor rural peasants aren’t being nabbed…”trafficking in tax invoices”…Ping the Human Plow doing this? I don’t think so. “Teaching crime-committing methods”… The entire body of US University Economic professors just went “whew!!!!, that was too close for comfort!!” “Robbing ancient cultural ruins” must be nice for someone to smuggle priceless artifacts out….and lastly “carrying out fraudulent activities with letters of credit or financial bills.” For SURE that needed downgrading in times of vast Fraudulent activity, eh????
Somehow I think Tong the Toilet cleaner ain’t in any danger of arrest…. Wall Street, are you now “leaving bags” in Beijing politician’s offices??? You dawgs….

No. It’s just ol’ farang being a pair of noids again. Right???

OTOH, some of us are not that fast at typing on a keyboard, so laziness and/or shortcuts often happen… and may give the wrong impression.

My references – as Churchill’s – was to the “elites” of the Jews , not the people of Israel or the little people ( us ) living outside.

Just BTW … a German Jewish publicist called W.J.Berg ( 1940′s – 1950′s ) actually stated in one of his books ( banned in Germany BTW ) that the Jewish community is divided into 3 classes , the Elites being at the top.
This is pretty interesting considering that he lived through ( and survived) WW2 and didn’t fault the German people as much as he faulted the “Banksters” behind the scenes. And BTW .. I’ve tried to find references to this guy on the Internet .. zero success !!!

PS: The book was shown to me by an old German soldier that fought with the Tank division in Norway.

Something that could be a major change may not be too far off.

It looks like the treasury yields are bottoming. Many have warned that bonds are a bubble, and when it breaks’ ‘look out!’

Well here is a link to a recent chart of the 5year bond yields and it look like a double bottom, very unusual. It is touching a very long exponential trendline and indicators are quite oversold.

    It’s a monthly chart.

    http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_SxZuN3tlxbQ/THQQvwtiPjI/AAAAAAAACtM/rau7IdSx1jc/s1600/5yearbonds.png

    http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_SxZuN3tlxbQ/THOAcgvxzlI/AAAAAAAACsU/t8wKXT2GaDc/s1600/bonds2.png

I hope these charts are big enough to be seen. The possible double bottom on the 5 year is a potential game changer, as those that do technical analysis know. If bonds are destined to blow up, this formation on the yield chart could be the leading indication of this..

I know anti-semitism is extremely ugly. I absolutely don’t want the holocaust to ever re-occur. The world should never again permit the slaughter of huge numbers of people. Any people.

But the quandary here is, if a single ethnic group that dominates so many parts of the world, and are a disproportionate share of the ruling elite of that world, and that ruling elite is deemed toxic to ordinary people, and they (the people) start to figure it out, well, what outcomes are likely?

I am uncomfortable with this, but it seems relevant.

Of course the population shoulde be balanced, that would be better, I’m talking in extrema.

Fixing the energy is not a policy issue like you assume, as if there is a ratio in politics. After the oil crisis all necessary technologies where developed and when oil came back slowly strangled. That strangulation is still going on. The nuclear issue is debated because the current oligachy wants it to be necessary and then own it completely. Public nuclear?

What is necessary is that the pentagon grows the will to defend the population (not only itself) and takes over the oligarchies that threaten the US lives. They are thinking about it, they can do it, and they will (with AJ screaming murder in the background).

re: China owning America’s means of production . . .

From “Dangerous Business” by Pat Choate:

    http://www.amazon.com/Dangerous-Business-Risks-Globalization-America/dp/B002RAR1TE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1282845967&sr=8-1

As described in chapter one, another security threat stems from America’s growing dependence on foreign-based producers for a large portion of the advanced technology products (ATPs) the nation requires—the newest, best, most sophisticated technologies and innovations essential to greater economic productivity and an assured national defense. For decades, domestic-based U.S. manufacturers dominated world production in opto-electronics, information and communications systems, advanced materials, life sciences, flexible manufacturing equipment, and other high-tech fields. By 2007, that dominance was lost. Instead, America imported more than $369 billion of such products, a serious dependency in this high-tech age. This shift is significant because the Defense Department encourages the development and use of dual technologies; that is, military technologies that can also be used in commercial products.

The primary source of these vital goods is China and the surrounding countries within the Chinese sphere of military and political influence. Of the $369 billion of ATP goods the United States imported in 2007, almost 52 percent came from that region. This production is now the only source of many vital advanced technology products. U.S. trade data provide a very detailed view of our growing industrial dependence in a widening field of economic sectors. The figures below are calculated from trade statistics compiled by the Department of Commerce. This vast body of data can be organized in ways that give a detailed, month-by-month, product-by-product, industry-by-industry view of the United States’ position in global markets.
A deeper look into this trade data reveals that the United States is running trade deficits not only in high-tech industries, such as scientific instruments and airplanes, but in a majority of all industries. Of 1,344 separate major industries tracked by the Commerce Department at a four-digit code level, almost two thirds (851) had a trade deficit, for a total of $766 billion in 2005. This means that in these industries, producers were facing massive foreign competition within their own domestic market, a danger sign about their failing competitiveness globally.

U.S. industries with a positive trade balance are mainly commodities such as cotton, soybeans, corn, scrap paper, rice, coal, tobacco, hides, meat, and wheat.

The profile of the U.S. trade position today is that of a nation being economically colonized—one that is purchasing high-value-added commodities and manufactured goods from abroad and paying for them with the export of agricultural commodities, massive foreign borrowing, and the liquidation of its own national assets.

    @chArles,

I was trying to make a broader point, which is that, as a practical matter, China owns the U.S. economy (both existing debt and the means of future production).

If you accept this premise, there are two consequences.

First, China has no incentive to break what it owns by doing as Max believes they can/should do with treasuries.

Second, even if China were to do something that would overtly and massively harm the U.S. economy, a China-U.S. war is highly unlikely because to cripple or destroy China’s manufacturing (which will be a consequence of such a war) is to cripple or destroy American manufacturing. This is a major departure from the historical precedents that you’ve cited: in the past, countries were not stupid enough to voluntarily destroy their manufacturing base in pursuit of some perverted vision of “free trade.”

China has already conquered and subjugated the U.S. thanks to the naivete of neoliberals and neocons. We’ve lost the economic war. We just don’t realize it yet.

It does appear the End is near but I am rather astonished that the proximate cause of it is the money and banking model. However, the Bible does predict it indirectly:

    Deuteronomy 23:19-20

But perhaps we’ll repent and the Lord will relent.

In addition to owning a ton of U.S. treasuries, China owns the U.S.’s means of production. Whatever China does with U.S. treasuries, the U.S. military cannot strike China without destroying the U.S.’s means of production (even if the U.S. military avoided attacking Chinese industry, the Chinese would sabotage their own factories).

    @Stacy,

Charles Hugh Smith would be a great guest.

From a recent pos of his entitled “Colonizing the Plantation of the Mind”:

[G]lobal capitalism has reached the limit of the colonial/plantation model in terms of exploiting new colonies around the globe and subjugating their materials and markets to the purposes of home country domination and profit.

    * * *
As the limits of colonialization became increasingly visible, Global Predatory Capitalism had no market left to exploit but its home populace.

It did this in two ways:

    1. It purchased the Central State’s partnership in privatizing the profits from rampant speculation and financial leverage–i.e. the “financial innovations” which have strip-mined the middle class of their assets–while spreading the risks and losses from this speculative fraud onto the taxpayers, i.e. the public.

    2. It deployed increasingly invasive marketing to colonize the minds of the home country citizenry, effectively brainwashing them into “consumers” who bought into the fantasy of ever-rising real estate and the dubious notion that debt could expand forever as long as the Central State kept credit cheap.

    Margaret Thatcher and Philip Morris

In 1992 Margaret Thatcher signed on as an international consultant to the Philip Morris tobacco company at a pay rate of US $500,000 annually, with half to be paid directly to Mrs. Thatcher and half to be paid to the Margaret Thatcher Foundation.[1].

According to the 19 July 1992 U.S. Sunday Times article, Ms. Thatcher’s “advice will be sought on controversial issues including the penetration of tobacco markets in Eastern Europe and the Third World.

She will alsos be asked to help resist attempts to ban tobacco advertising in the European Community and to fight cigarette taxes and state-run tobacco monopolies.” Thatcher was a non-smoker who spoke out against tobacco several times while Prime Minister. [2]

The Independent (of London) reported that Philip Morris paid for a 70th birthday bash for Ms. Thatcher on 23 October 1995 in Washington, D.C. 800 guests attended and the estimated cost of the party was $1 million.[3]

    ———————————————————————————

Fundementally Philip Morris is a perfect front for eugenists. Remember Margaret selling tobacco as a real good product to contain the retirement and pension costs in Tchekie. Her argument was that if you kill people earlier with nicotine you make fantastic economies on social security spending. Kill the slaves it’s much cheaper. . British Nazi.

In Afghanistan, where the drug cartel is probably the richest in the world, you’ll need to keep the war going for your benefit.
